Tampa Bay Buccaneers RBs Bobby Rainey, Mike James, Charles Sims and Jeff Demps will be vying for carries behind RB Doug Martin in training camp. Martin is the team's starting running back, but the team wants to use a rotation in the backfield.
Fantasy Tip: Martin clearly is the starter and should be drafted as an RB1. However, they'll look to spell him when they can. Stay tuned for who stands out as his primary backup during training camp and the preseason.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Lovie Smith said RB Doug Martin will not have a lesser role on offense this upcoming season but did say the team will be using more than one running back in order to keep players healthy.
Fantasy Tip: It appears Martin likely will get most of the work at running back at 2014 but will be coming off the field at times. Martin should be considered a starting running back in all leagues and likely will be drafted in one of the first few rounds.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims is the most likely among the backups to have a weekly role behind starter Doug Martin, in the opinion of Scott Smith, because of Sims' ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. Martin will probably cede a few carries and third-down work to Sims.
Fantasy Tip: Mike James and Bobby Rainey profile more closely to handcuff status because of the underrated power in their games. One of them may be a cut candidate. Sims is a decent late-rounds PPR gamble but is unlikely to be considered top dog if Martin were to struggle or suffer an injury. As for Martin's fantasy value, he should still get the lion's share on his way to low-end RB1 numbers; he has plenty of rebound potential.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (shoulder) said he has been medically cleared to participate in football activities.
Fantasy Tip: Martin likely will be the team's starting running back in 2014 as long as he can stay healthy. Owners should consider him as a starting running back in all fantasy leagues.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Lovie Smith expects RB Doug Martin to be the team's leading rusher again this season. "I think you have to have a bell cow," Smith said. "(Martin) is ours. At the running back position, there's enough reps to go around. We want three guys we feel comfortable with. Two will play, but it's not a rotation that where every series we're going to have a different guy in there. We'll have a starter, then we'll have a backup that will give him quality backup minutes."
Fantasy Tip: Mike James and Bobby Rainey filled in nicely for Martin when he was out last year, but they aren't your prototypical lead backs. Martin is, and this news should have been expected if he was fully healthy. He'll likely come at a cheaper price this year as your RB1.
