Buccaneers | Doug Martin wants to stay in Tampa Bay

Thu, 04 Feb 2016 18:37:18 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin said he wants to sign a new deal to stay with the team but would also play if he is given the franchise tag.

Fantasy Tip: Martin is coming off an excellent year, and despite some injury risk, he is a solid RB1 candidate if he returns to a Tampa Bay offense that has a young, improving core.

Buccaneers | TB talking extension with Doug Martin

Wed, 27 Jan 2016 19:05:21 -0800

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and RB Doug Martin's representatives have started discussing a contract extension. Martin, who is slated to be a free agent in 2016, finished second for the league rushing title behind Adrian Peterson. He also scored six touchdowns. If the team cannot work out an extension they do not plan on using the franchise tag on him.

Fantasy Tip: Martin has had two Pro Bowl seasons, his rookie season and last season, and two injury-plagued seasons in between. It has been a mixed bag of fantasy results, but when he is in there for the full slate he has been tremendous.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin endorsed by head coach

Sat, 16 Jan 2016 20:14:32 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter said during his introductory press conference that he wants RB Doug Martin to be re-signed this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Martin piled up more than 1,600 yards from scrimmage this year, and with Koetter moving from offensive coordinator to head coach, Martin should continue to have a featured role in the offensive and provide RB1 value if he is back with Tampa Bay in 2016.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin finished the 2015 season with 1,673 total yards and seven total touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: Martin really bounced back this season after playing in just 17 games the last two seasons. He finished comfortable in RB1 territory in both standard and PPR leagues and is worth RB1 consideration again next season.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin has extension talks

Sat, 02 Jan 2016 08:35:00 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin has recently had contract extension talks with the team, according to general manager Jason Licht. The two sides are only in the early stages at this point, but Martin has indicated that he is interested in returning to the team.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) currently ranks second in the NFL with 1,354 rushing yards and has scored a touchdown in three of his last four games. He should be a solid starting option for owners on FantasyScore this week and will be an early-round pick next year no matter where he plays.

Buccaneers | OC wants Doug Martin back

Wed, 30 Dec 2015 19:21:57 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin will be a free agent after the season ends, and offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter wants him back. "I'll lobby hard," Koetter said Wednesday, Dec. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) enters Week 17 ranked second in rushing yards behind Minnesota's Adrian Peterson with one game to go. Martin certainly emerged as a must-start fantasy option this season, and just in time for a giant payday from someone in the upcoming offseason.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin limited to 49 yards, TD

Sun, 27 Dec 2015 18:41:51 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin rushed 17 times for just 49 yards in the Week 16 game against the Chicago Bears, although he was able to find the end zone once. He also had a six-yard catch on his only reception with three targets.

Fantasy Tip: Martin didn't pile up the yardage for his fantasy owners in Week 16, and he lost two fumbles which certainly did not help. It wasn't a total bust, but it wasn't great. He might have another ordinary stat line in Week 17 against the Carolina Panthers.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin delivers in loss

Thu, 17 Dec 2015 21:08:53 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin finished with 18 carries for 91 yards and one catch for six yards in a 31-23 loss to the St. Louis Rams in Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Martin gashed the St. Louis defense, but the Buccaneers were forced to abandon the run early in the second half after falling behind. Still, Martin managed to top 90 yards for the fourth time in five games and continues to be one of the safest options at FantasyScore.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin had 11 carries for 81 yards and a touchdown and one catch for five yards in a 24-17 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Martin has topped 80 yards in four straight and is now averaging more than five yards per carry on the year. He has become one of the steadier backs available at FantasyScore the last few weeks.

Sun, 06 Dec 2015 21:21:45 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin rushed 25 times for 95 yards and a touchdown in the Week 13 game against the Atlanta Falcons. He also had a five-yard reception.

Fantasy Tip: Martin has re-emerged as a must-start fantasy option this season, and he has at least 95 rushing yards in each of his past three games. He faces the New Orleans Saints in Week 14, and the Saints rank last in the NFL in rush defense allowing 137.8 yards per game.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin reaches 1,000-yard mark

Sun, 29 Nov 2015 14:54:47 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin ran 14 times for 97 yards and eclipsed the 1,000-yard plateau Sunday, Nov. 29, in a 25-12 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) has found a second life with Jameis Winston at quarterback, as Winston uses Martin effectively in the running game. Keep Martin in your lineup as much as possible unless the defensive matchup proves to be too much.

Buccaneers | Tampa wants Doug Martin to return

Mon, 23 Nov 2015 15:40:08 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin is a player the team wants to re-sign this offseason even though they declined to pick up the fifth-year option in his contract. Martin currently ranks second in the NFL with 941 rushing yards.

Fantasy Tip: Martin has become one of the better running backs in fantasy this season and is coming off a 235-yard performance in his last game. He will be facing the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12 and should be a solid starting option for owners.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin in rare company

Sun, 22 Nov 2015 17:43:42 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin had 27 carries for 235 yards in a 45-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 11, becoming the third player since the merger to have two career games of at least 235 rushing yards.

Fantasy Tip: After three mediocre outings, Martin exploded against the Eagles. His inconsistent play makes him a nightmare for fantasy owners, but his upside is undeniable.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin has great first half

Sun, 22 Nov 2015 11:38:02 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin rushed for 177 yards on 12 carries in the first half of Tampa Bay's Week 11 contest against the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday, Nov. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Martin has a knack for gaining big chunks of yardage here and there, and he's had a couple of big runs so far today in a not-so-easy matchup with the Eagles. Charles Sims does take some of his PPR value away, but Martin should be considered an every-week starter.

Buccaneers | Tough times to continue for Doug Martin?

Fri, 20 Nov 2015 19:14:03 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin faces the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 11, and the Eagles have allowed just three rushing touchdowns all year.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) is averaging just 55.0 rushing yards per game over his last three, and he has been held out of the end zone in four straight. Spend your money elsewhere at FantasyScore.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin shut down

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 20:01:55 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin had 11 carries for 31 yards and a lost fumble and two catches for 12 yards in a 32-18 loss to the New York Giants in Week 9.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) had his worst rushing performance of the season, and just when it looks like he can be trusted again at FantasyScore, he delivers a dud. If you are going to take a chance on Martin, make sure he has a great matchup.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin solid against Atlanta

Sat, 31 Oct 2015 20:47:14 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin faces the Atlanta Falcons in Week 8, and he has three touchdowns in three career meetings with the Falcons.

Fantasy Tip: The Falcons are also tied for the league lead with 10 rushing touchdowns allowed, so Martin ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) could continue his recent run of success. Feel free to start him at FantasyScore.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin recorded his third straight 100-yard rushing game as he carried 19 times for 136 yards in a 31-30 loss to the Washington Redskins Sunday, Oct. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) is a shining light on a team that has issues, as evidenced by the Bucs blowing a 24-point lead. He's on a hot streak that merits FantasyScore consideration.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin second in rushing

Mon, 12 Oct 2015 05:52:07 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin is tied for second in the NFL with 405 rushing yards and is on pace for 1,296 yards on the season.

Fantasy Tip: The Bucs have a bye in Week 6, so you'll have to find another option next week. However, Martin is a solid RB2 in traditional leagues. You might see what kind of trade packages you can get in return.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin has giant stat line

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 18:06:01 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin carried 24 times for 123 yards and a touchdown in the Week 5 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He also added three 35 receptions and a touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) has re-emerged as a must-start FantasyScore option, as he has back-to-back 100-yard games and a total of four touchdowns (three rushing, one receiving) over the past two outings.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin a safe bet to produce?

Sat, 10 Oct 2015 18:25:03 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin faces the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5, and the Jaguars have allowed a running back to gain at least 80 yards from scrimmage or to score at least one touchdown in each of the first four games.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) is coming off his best game of the year in Week 4, and he draws a friendly matchup this weekend. Martin should be one of the safer mid-priced options at FantasyScore.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin tops 100 yards

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 16:59:46 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin had 20 carries for 106 yards and a touchdown and five catches for 37 yards in a 37-23 loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) had his best game of the season, and while he continues to see a majority of the carries, Tampa Bay's tendency to fall behind and abandon the run will make him a risky play at FantasyScore most weeks.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin will be in uniform

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 07:26:47 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (knee, quadriceps) will be able to play in the Week 4 game against the Carolina Panthers, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) should receive most of the carries during the game and is looking to continue his solid play in 2015. Owners should consider Martin as a solid starting option this week.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin ready to play

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 10:42:39 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (knee, quadriceps) said he feels good and is ready to play Sunday, Oct. 4, against the Carolina Panthers. Martin said he nicked his knee in practice Thursday, Oct. 2, but that he'll be perfect for the Week 4 contest.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) faces a really tough matchup versus the Panthers, who are only giving up 75.7 rushing yards per game. There are better options at running on FantasyScore this week.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin listed as questionable

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 14:47:41 -0700

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (knee, quadriceps) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 2, and is listed as questionable for the Week 4 game against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) appears to have a decent chance to play in Week 4, but owners will need to check the inactive list before setting their lineups. Martin has posted decent numbers so far this season and could be a solid starting option for owners. Charles Sims ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) could be a fantasy option in Martin is not able to play.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin returns Friday

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 09:09:47 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (knee, quadriceps) returned to practice Friday, Oct. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) faces a Carolina Panthers defense in the top half of the league at defending the position. He gives us some pause on FantasyScore this week.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin misses practice

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 13:45:32 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (knee, quadriceps) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 1, after injuring his knee in practice Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Fantasy Tip: The severity of Martin's injury isn't known at this point, so he will need to be monitored heading into this weekend's games. If Martin is unable to play, Charles Sims becomes a decent value play on FantasyScore at $2,000 (4.0% of cap).

Buccaneers | Doug Martin likes facing the Saints

Thu, 17 Sep 2015 19:22:29 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin faces the New Orleans Saints in Week 2, and he has rushed for more than 100 yards in two of his last three games against the Saints, including a 108-yard performance in his most recent meeting.

Fantasy Tip: A blowout loss limited his numbers in Week 1, but Martin ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) averaged 4.7 yards per carry and should have plenty of running room against New Orleans. While the potential for another ugly loss exists, he could end up being a steal at FantasyScore.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin totals 54 yards

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 22:03:40 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin carried 11 times for 52 yards in the Week 1 game against the Tennessee Titans, and he added one reception for two yards.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is the unquestioned No. 1 tailback for the Bucs, and Charles Sims ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) did nothing in the loss to chip away at Martin's grasp on the job.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin shows well in brief stint

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 20:30:55 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin rushed six times for 59 yards in the preseason game Monday, Aug. 24, against the Cincinnati Bengals. He also rushed once for nine yards.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) appears to be the closer to his 2012 version than the past two injury-marred seasons. His explosiveness and speed is back, and he could be a great middle-round value in standard fantasy leagues as a low-end RB2 or flex fantasy play.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin ready for rebound year

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 14:43:28 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin is feeling better than he did at any point during his impressive rookie season when he ran for 1,454 yards in 2012. However, he's recorded only 950 yards over the last two years due to multiple injuries. Martin is fully healthy now and has stood out in training camp. The Bucs didn't pick up Martin's option for 2016, but they've maintained all along that he is the starter heading into this season. "We would just like for him to continue what he's been doing," head coach Lovie Smith said. "We've all taken notice. It seems like he has a little more bounce to his step, running with confidence. And he needs to. It's an important year for Doug and for our football team to establish the run game and Doug's our starting tailback."

Fantasy Tip: Martin's rookie season was buoyed by big performances in several games, and he hasn't lived up to his high expectations after that. He's injury-prone, too, making him a risky RB3 selection. He'll need Tampa's young offensive line to play above their heads to make him stand out, too.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin back in old form?

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 12:33:57 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin has looked fantastic this offseason and the Buccaneers are looking forward to the success he had in 2012, according to the NFL Network's Mike Mayock.

Fantasy Tip: Martin's rookie season was in 2012. It saw him tally over 1,900 total yards and 12 total touchdowns. Since then, Martin has only played in 17 games. He's a risky draft pick, but there is some upside, as 2012 showed. If he plays a full season, he could end up as a RB2, but it's better to take him as a RB3.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin looking quicker

Sat, 08 Aug 2015 10:35:46 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin supposedly looks leaner and quicker heading into his fourth season.

Fantasy Tip: If you're not an offensive lineman, it's usually a positive if you're looking quicker and leaner. The question for Martin will be if he can stay healthy, because he's only played in 17 games the last two seasons. If he can bounce back and stay on the field, he could surprise some people this year.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin named lead back

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 18:30:29 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin was confirmed as the team's lead back Monday, Aug. 3, by head coach Lovie Smith. "We talked about being able to establish the run. Doug will be the lead guy doing that, so it's very important that we open up some holes and let him do his thing," Smith said via the Tampa Bay Times.

Fantasy Tip: Martin's average yards per carry has dropped from 4.6 in his rookie season to 3.6 and 3.7 in each of the previous two seasons. Martin totaled just three touchdowns over 17 games played in 2013 and 2014, and he shouldn't be drafted as anything more than an RB3.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin expected to bounce back

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 08:54:41 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin could be in line for a big, bounce-back year, in the opinion of beat writer Roy Cummings.

Fantasy Tip: Martin is reportedly leaner and faster this year, but he has a ways to go to get back into the good graces of the coaching staff. He'll compete with Charles Sims, Dominique Brown and Bobby Rainey for carries. View Martin as an RB4 with a bit of upside.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin rising to occasion

Sat, 13 Jun 2015 18:07:07 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin is one of several running backs vying for playing time in the team's backfield, along with RBs Dominique Brown, Bobby Rainey and Charles Sims. Martin has shed some body fat and re-gained weight in muscle. He is excited about the competition and feels good. "Competition out here helps us all," Martin said. "If you don't have anybody that's pushing you then who's going to make you better?"

Fantasy Tip: Martin appears to be in great shape heading into 2015, and he could be a decent bargain on draft day in the middle rounds. He was a Pro Bowler in 2012, and led the team in rushing in 2014. If he can stay healthy he could be a nice surprise for fantasy owners. He has plenty left in the tank.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin leaner, faster

Fri, 05 Jun 2015 09:52:39 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin is leaner and appears faster than ever this offseason with acceleration that hasn't been seen since his rookie season, according to PewterReport.com's Scott Reynolds. "I'm trying to get my body fat percentage down," Martin said. "I am a little smaller in terms of my body fat percentage that's decreased, so that's good. I'm just trying to get my muscle gain up and get that fat out. Definitely I feel quicker - faster. I feel real good. "I wanted to be a little faster and a little quicker in my game and for me to be able to do that was to decrease my body fat, go hard in the weight room and come out here on the field and show the coaches. It's really more running and cardio. When I'm at home I'll go run around the neighborhood from time to time, a lot of cardio and keeping up on the weights."

Fantasy Tip: The report details how far he had fallen with the new regime in Tampa, but Martin has given some optimism. It's questionable if it's too late, though, as Charles Sims is primed to take over the lead running back role. Martin is still worth grabbing as an RB4, but his window may have closed in Tampa.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin looking, feeling good in OTAs

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 16:53:01 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin said he feels great, his body feels good and his mind is where it needs to be as he participates in organized team activities. Martin has supposedly looked like his old self so far, making sharp cuts and catching the ball out of the backfield in one-on-one drills.

Fantasy Tip: Martin is still practicing with the first-team offense, but Charles Sims is expected to play a significant role this year as well. Considering his injury history and competition at the position, Martin should be drafted as a high-end RB3.

Buccaneers | Charles Sims could start for TB

Tue, 26 May 2015 14:31:32 -0700

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims has a solid chance of beating out RB Doug Martin for Tampa Bay's starting running back gig, according to Pat Yasinskas of ESPN.com.

Fantasy Tip: Martin has mostly been a disappointment since his outstanding rookie season. Sims hasn't been given a lot of opportunities to show what he's capable of as he only played in eight games of his rookie season last year. It could end up being more of a running back by committee (Bobby Rainey and Mike James are also available), but Martin needs to step up his game if he doesn't want Sims to supplant him.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin's option not picked up

Mon, 04 May 2015 06:01:46 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin will be an unrestricted free agent in 2016 after the team decided not to exercise his fifth-year player option Monday, May 4.

Fantasy Tip: The oft-injured Martin will have to compete with Charles Sims and Bobby Rainey for touches in 2015. Martin has proven to be a capable fantasy RB1 when he can stay on the field, but he's not guaranteed to take the lion's share of work. He's a weak RB2, but it might be difficult to select him there. Keep an eye on this situation in training camp.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin has backer in Lovie

Thu, 09 Apr 2015 17:18:01 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin has a supporter in head coach Lovie Smith. Smith said the team hasn't "seen the true Doug Martin yet." Smith also said RB Bobby Rainey is the current starting punt returner.

Fantasy Tip: Rainey hasn't done much since his outstanding rookie year in 2012 (1,454 yards, 11 touchdowns), mainly because of injuries. He'll have to contend with Rainey and Charles Sims in the backfield in 2015, too, which means it'll be tough to rely on him yet again.

Buccaneers | Bobby Rainey limited Thursday

Thu, 11 Dec 2014 15:52:19 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Bobby Rainey (ankle) returned to practice in limited fashion Thursday, Dec. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Rainey and Charles Sims have been nonfactors in recent weeks with Doug Martin returning as starter. Martin ($4,400) deserves a look on FantasyScore this week with a nice matchup against the Carolina Panthers, who have given up the third most receptions to running backs this year.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin says he's the same runner

Tue, 25 Nov 2014 13:27:26 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin says he's the same running back he was as a rookie in 2012 when he took the league by storm. However, he's averaging just 2.8 yards per carry and has only 193 rushing yards and one score this season, but he's missed two games with a knee injury and three with an ankle ailment. He's healthy now, but he only mustered 27 yards on 11 carries in Week 12 while sharing time with RBs Charles Sims and Bobby Rainey.

Fantasy Tip: It's very hard to trust Martin ($3,300) at FantasyScore with Sims and Rainey also competing for touches in this backfield. If there was ever a week to roll the dice on Martin in a flex spot, though, Week 13 against the Cincinnati Bengals might be it. The Bengals have allowed an average of 21.73 fantasy points to runners in 2014.

Sun, 23 Nov 2014 19:17:18 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (ankle) returned to the lineup in Week 12 against the Chicago Bears. He carried 11 times for 27 yards. He was sidelined for the past three games due to an ankle injury.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore owners should avoid Martin until he starts to show a little more consistency. Rust was inevitable after a long layoff, especially on the road against a decent defense.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (ankle) took most of the first-team repetitions in practice Friday, Nov. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($3,000; 6.0% of your cap) should work his way back into the mix this week. We don't expect this situation to be more than a split between Martin and Charles Sims ($4,700; 9.4%). Martin is worth the bargain buy, but Sims could see more action this week.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin questionable

Fri, 21 Nov 2014 14:38:18 -0800

Tamp Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (ankle) was limited in practice and is questionable for Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Martin will cost $3,000 in FantasyScore this week, and is a risky play because he has not done much this year. Charles Sims will likely get most of the work if Martin can't go, and will cost $4,700 this week.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin, Charles Sims limited

Thu, 20 Nov 2014 14:48:42 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RBs Doug Martin (ankle) and Charles Sims (ankle) were both limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($3,000) may return in Week 12 to face the Chicago Bears, but he hasn't done much all season. Sims ($4,700), on the other hand, has effectively replaced Bobby Rainey as the lead back. The Bears are allowing just over 16 fantasy points per game to rushers this year. Consider Sims more of a flex play this week at FantasyScore, and his value will suffer if Martin returns.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (ankle) is participating in practice Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Charles Sims may be the team's lead running back for now but Doug Martin should also receive some carries if he is able to play. Martin only costs $3,000 on FantasyScore and could be a flex option.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin ruled out for Week 11

Fri, 14 Nov 2014 10:45:36 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 11 against the Washington Redskins, according to head coach Lovie Smith.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($3,600) continues to be a huge fantasy disappointment this season. Bobby Rainey ($4,400) will likely continue to see the majority of the workload, but Charles Sims ($4,500) could also see a significant enough role against the Redskins to be a sleeper flex play at FantasyScore.
