Buccaneers | Doug Martin finds the end zone

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 19:44:16 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin finished with 14 carries for 53 yards and a touchdown and one catch for 11 yards in a 38-33 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Martin has scored in both of his games since returning from suspension, and he is clearly the team's lead back. He should be no worse than a RB2 moving forward.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin ready for more work

Fri, 13 Oct 2017 09:04:59 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin admitted to wearing down after logging 26 snaps in his season debut in Week 5 but feels as though he is ready to go wire-to-wire in Week 6 against the Arizona Cardinals if necessary. "I feel like I can handle anything coach asks me to do. I'm prepared to do everything," Martin said.

Fantasy Tip: Head coach Dirk Koetter seemed hesitant at the thought of adding too much to Martin's workload when asked about it Thursday, suggesting "he has no problem with any of his other backs" and giving Martin more work is something that will "present itself." Martin looked great in limited action in Week 5 and has certainly earned the right to be an every-week RB2 in fantasy, even in a difficult matchup against Arizona.

Buccaneers | Solid debut for Doug Martin

Thu, 05 Oct 2017 20:46:07 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin made his season debut against the New England Patriots Thursday, Oct. 5, finishing with 74 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries and one catch for eight yards.

Fantasy Tip: Martin wasted no time reclaiming the lead role in the backfield, and he dominated the touches. Pencil him in as a RB2 against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin to have big role?

Thu, 05 Oct 2017 11:10:59 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin has a chance to have a significant role on offense against the New England Patriots in Week 5 because the team believes his return can spark the offense, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Dan Graziano.

Fantasy Tip: Martin has missed the first three games because of a suspension and had limited practice time this week but should have a role against the Patriots. He should become the team's starting running back in the near future but it is not known how many touches he will receive this week. Owners can consider him a low-end No. 2 running back or a flex option in leagues.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin added to roster

Mon, 02 Oct 2017 12:21:20 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin was activated from the Reserve/Suspended list Monday, Oct. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Martin's role for Week 5 is uncertain since it will be his first game of the season and the team plays on Thursday Night Football. He may see limited work if he is active against the New England Patriots because he missed the first three games, which makes him a risky option. Martin should become the starting running back in the near future and can be a weekly starting option when that occurs.

Buccaneers | Tampa Bay to use RBBC without Doug Martin

Fri, 08 Sep 2017 10:43:08 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers will most likely be the first- and second- down back, while Charles Sims will handle most of the third-down work and Peyton Barber will be the goal-line back while Doug Martin serves his season-opening three-game suspension, according to ESPN's Jenna Laine.

Fantasy Tip: No real surprises here, although Laine points out Barber has improved quite a bit and may have been the most explosive back in camp behind Martin in the preseason. As things stand right now, expect Martin to handle the early-down and goal-line work upon his return, while Sims keeps his role and Rodgers becomes more of a handcuff.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin now returning Week 5

Wed, 06 Sep 2017 06:47:27 -0700

Updating an earlier report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin will now be eligible to return from suspension in Week 5 after the team's Week 1 game was pushed to Week 11 due to Hurricane Irma.

Fantasy Tip: He'll still miss three games and return against the New England Patriots Oct. 5. One drawback now is he won't have a bye week, and he has a checkered injury history. That has to limit his upside some, but there is little risk in having him as an RB3.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin on suspended list

Sat, 02 Sep 2017 15:32:12 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin was placed on the Reserve/Suspended list Saturday, Sept. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Martin will miss the first three games for the suspension, so it is not known what role he will have in the offense when he returns. He could be a No. 2 running back if he becomes the main running back when he returns but could also be a No. 3 or flex option if he is a part of a committee.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin finds end zone

Thu, 17 Aug 2017 20:19:07 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin rushed for 30 yards and one touchdown on five carries in the preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars Thursday, Aug. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Martin will miss the first three games of the regular season because of a suspension, so it is not known what his role will be when he returns. He has a chance to be a No. 2 fantasy running back if he is the starter when he returns from his suspension.

Buccaneers | Jacquizz Rodgers could beat out Doug Martin?

Sun, 30 Jul 2017 12:16:57 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers has received plenty of praise from teammates and coaches about exceptional vision, toughness and his versatility, according to ESPN's Jenna Laine, who adds "there's always the possibility" Rodgers could remain the starter after Doug Martin returns from his three-game suspension to begin the season.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers filled in nicely when called upon in 2016, but he is a longshot to overtake Martin if the latter is in his 2015 form - as general manager Jason Licht said he is. Rodgers' 129 carries last season were by far the most of his six-year career. He would do well to hit that mark as Martin's handcuff in 2017.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin not a lock to start upon return

Sun, 30 Jul 2017 10:00:31 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin will not be guaranteed his starting job in Week 4 when he completes the remainder of his three-game PED suspension, according to general manager Jason Licht. "Look, he has done everything we've asked him to do, and he looks reminiscent of 2015 when he was playing for his contract. … So he might be one of those guys that needs a carrot. And he's got a pretty big carrot in front of him right now, because there's no guarantees that he's going to be here. And he knows that. We've talked to him, and he's good with it," Licht said.

Fantasy Tip: It's tough talk from Licht, but what he should do as a general manager. Jacquizz Rodgers would have to drop some jaws and stay healthy in order for Martin to be in any real danger of losing his early-down gig. Owners with an eye toward rolling the dice on Martin should hope for more reports like this, as it could make him cheaper on draft day. For now, consider Martin a high-end RB3 with the potential to be a low-end RB1 upon his return.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin leaner in 2017

Sun, 30 Jul 2017 09:17:52 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin told ESPN's Jenna Laine he trimmed off about two percent body fat this offseason with high intensity training and by cutting out carbs.

Fantasy Tip: Martin has yet to draw a single negative comment this offseason and has consistently been the focus of admiration of teammates and front office personnel alike. While he will miss the first three weeks of the regular season as he wraps up his PED suspension from late in 2016, he figures to reclaim his starting job upon return and could easily be a high-end RB2. Owners are advised to take the plunge if he falls near the sixth-round area or later in drafts this summer.

Buccaneers | Jacquizz Rodgers expected to step up

Fri, 28 Jul 2017 12:52:03 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers is being counted on to "step up" for the first three games of the season while Doug Martin serves the remainder of his PED suspension from last season, according to ESPN.com's Jenna Laine.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers, who reportedly dropped about seven pounds in the offseason, showed well when called upon in 2016. Owners looking to handcuff Martin should be looking initially at Rodgers, but his role beyond Week 3 is unclear. Still, he figures to be a popular DFS option early on and a solid play for zero-RB advocates in September.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin flashing 2015 form

Fri, 16 Jun 2017 09:12:37 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin is receiving a ton of offseason praise from a number of sources, not the least of which is general manager Jason Licht. "(Martin) looks lean, he looks like he's finishing his runs - obviously, there is no contact in the spring - but it looks like he's finishing his runs. He looks like he's got that burst. ... He looks like the Doug Martin of 2015," Licht told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Fantasy Tip: It's important to remember Martin will miss the first three games due to suspension and doesn't boast the best track record when it comes to staying healthy. While it is entirely possible he can return to being a fantasy RB1, those two factors alone make him a risky bet and someone owners should not be trying to move up draft boards just because he is looking good in non-padded practices.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin living in weight room?

Wed, 14 Jun 2017 09:10:17 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin looks quicker and bulkier than he did only two or three weeks ago, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Thought to be a cut candidate earlier this spring, Martin appears primed to enjoy a bounce-back year once he is able to return from his season-opening three-game suspension. Jacquizz Rodgers, Charles Sims and rookie Jeremy McNichols figure to pick up the slack in his absence. Once Martin returns, he could easily be an upside RB2 in what should be a very good offense.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin working with first team

Tue, 23 May 2017 08:56:07 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin has been working with the first-team offense in organized team activities Tuesday, May 23.

Fantasy Tip: Martin still has three games to serve on his suspension, but the reports have been glowing on him this offseason. Of course, it could be smoke and mirrors in an attempt to trade him, but he could be a bounce-back RB3 candidate in fantasy.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin OK after accident

Thu, 04 May 2017 14:14:19 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin suffered minor cuts and bruises as a result of a car accident Thursday, May 4, according to a report from the Tampa Police Department.

Fantasy Tip: Martin has plenty of traffic to maneuver through in his own backfield, too. Charles Sims and Jacquizz Rodgers will stint Martin's receiving game and take away some of his carries. Injuries forced Martin missed eight games last year, paving the way for Sims and then Rodgers to earn more playing time. Given the crowded backfield and the fact that he has only played a full season in two of his five years, Martin is merely a flex consideration.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin impressing

Fri, 28 Apr 2017 05:20:35 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin has been the most impressive player in training thus far, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: The Buccaneers passed on RB Dalvin Cook in the first round, in part, because of this, according to the source. Martin still has a ways to go before he can make a comfortable RB2, and he still has three games left to serve on his suspension. He'd be a good RB3 in fantasy.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin back with team

Mon, 17 Apr 2017 06:27:18 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin has completed rehab and re-joined the team for offseason conditioning.

Fantasy Tip: Martin's status with the team is dicey, and he still has three games to serve in his suspension. He'll be an RB3 with bounce-back potential at best in fantasy drafts.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin to work out with team next week

Sun, 09 Apr 2017 12:56:35 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin is expected to be with the team for the start of offseason workouts Monday, April 17, according to Florida Football Insiders' Roy Cummings.

Fantasy Tip: According to Cummings, Martin has been to and apparently completed a drug rehabilitation program, and the team is apparently "all good" with the situation at the moment. While Buccaneers may still very well add a running back in the draft later this month, they didn't do so in free agency, signaling they have at least a little bit of faith Martin can recapture his old form. With that said, Martin remains a question mark to make the roster this summer and must sit out the first three games of the season if he does.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin to be featured?

Sun, 19 Mar 2017 17:52:40 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head Dirk Koetter said it is hard to feature two running backs in an offense, and offensive coordinator Todd Monken said he is looking forward to having RB Doug Martin back. "It will be great getting a guy like Doug back to where he was that will add to that explosion, because we just didn't have that in the run game last year, with all the injuries," Monken said. "We had six different guys carry the ball last year."

Fantasy Tip: Despite Monken's optimism, there is no guarantee Martin will even be back with the team, let alone be an effective starter. He will also be suspended for the first three games, so his fantasy value is up in the air at this point.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin out of rehab

Sun, 19 Mar 2017 10:03:50 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin completed his stay at an undisclosed rehab center in February, according to the Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud. He will still miss the first three games of the 2017 season for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy in December.

Fantasy Tip: There's been much speculation that Martin won't even make it to training camp based on his injury history and the fact there is no guaranteed money left on his contract. If Tampa Bay uses an early pick on a runner next month, it's a good bet he'll need to find another job, as the Bucs like Jacquizz Rodgers and value Charles Sims as a weapon in the passing game.

Buccaneers | No quick decision coming on Doug Martin

Wed, 01 Mar 2017 18:31:40 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin is unlikely to find out his fate regarding his status with the team anytime in the near future, according to head coach Dirk Koetter. "Doug's under contract right now and no decision has to be made on that right now, so we don't have to rush it. … But one of the things high on our list is what's going to happen with our running back situation? But we don't have to make a decision on that right now," Koetter said.

Fantasy Tip: Martin signed a five-year deal worth $35.75 million last offseason, but his late-season PED drug suspension allows the team to void the rest of his guaranteed money ($7 million) and cut him without much incident. The Bucs are high on Jacquizz Rodgers and should be considered one of the favorites to add a running back in one of the first three rounds of the NFL Draft next month. If they do, expect Martin to be released shortly thereafter.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin still in Bucs' plans?

Thu, 16 Feb 2017 10:23:54 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin was expected to be released or traded before the 2017 NFL season, but the front office may be willing to keep Martin around and "play the situation out," according to Roy Cummings, of FloridaFootballInsiders.com. Martin is suspended the first three games of 2017 and will not cost the team any money if he is indeed released.

Fantasy Tip: Martin is coming off his worst season as a pro and has a lengthy injury history. Unless the draft or free agency bears a better option, he may stick around. Tampa could look to restructure his deal with incentives, as well. For fantasy purposes, assuming he is retained, Martin is a shaky RB3 in most setups.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin on his way out?

Wed, 25 Jan 2017 09:41:17 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin is not part of the short- or long-term plans of the Buccaneers, in the opinion of Rick Stroud, of the Tampa Bay Times. Martin signed a five-year, $33.75 million contract, with $15 million guaranteed, in March of 2016, but that guaranteed money is voided because of his four-game suspension after testing positive for Adderall.

Fantasy Tip: Martin is an injury waiting to happen, and at age 28, prospective teams have to consider him to be little more than a risky stopgap or committee component. His fantasy value should not exceed midrange RB2 on draft day in any setting.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin's guarantee will be void

Wed, 28 Dec 2016 13:44:04 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin's four-game suspension will make void his $7 million in guaranteed money next year, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: This stipulation certainly puts Martin's future with the Bucs in jeopardy. He'll focus on his personal issues before trying to get his mind back on football, no doubt, but Jacquizz Rodgers and Charles Sims could take over Tampa Bay's backfield next year.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin suspended

Wed, 28 Dec 2016 13:26:23 -0800

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's drug policy. Martin will begin the suspension immediately and enter a treatment facility.

Fantasy Tip: This gives a little more clarity to Martin's situation. He'll serve his suspension and return to the Buccaneers early on next season. As stated earlier, Jacquizz Rodgers is not a bad starting option in PPR formats this week with Martin and Charles Sims both out.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin stepping away

Wed, 28 Dec 2016 13:09:52 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (personal) is stepping away from the team to tend to personal issues, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Just how long Martin is stepping away for is unclear, but he could still return to the Bucs in 2017. As for Week 17, Jacquizz Rodgers should be the primary running back again with Charles Sims on IR. He's a great start in daily contests (mainly PPR formats) at a cheap price and is a sleeper option for Week 17 fantasy championships.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin won't play finale

Tue, 27 Dec 2016 05:22:34 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin will be inactive again in Week 17 against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: The team is mum on the reason for this, but they signed Russell Hansbrough to take his spot on the active roster. Jacquizz Rodgers was the primary rusher last week and Charles Sims pitched in with 12 yards rushing and four catches for 30 yards. Rodgers had a 15-63-1 line and two grabs for 15 yards. He'll have a midrange matchup as a low-end RB2. Sims could be a flex option in PPR formats.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin's Week 17 status uncertain

Mon, 26 Dec 2016 16:15:56 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter would not say if RB Doug Martin will be active for the team's Week 17 game. Martin was a healthy scratch in Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check on the inactive list to see which Buccaneers running back will be held out in Week 17. Martin probably would be part of a committee at the position if he plays and would not be more than a flex option.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin benching explained

Sun, 25 Dec 2016 18:06:45 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin was inactive against the New Orleans Saints in Week 16 because head coach Dirk Koetter believed RB Jacquizz Rodgers would be a better fit for the matchup, and Koetter said it was a "decision for today."

Fantasy Tip: It is no secret that Martin has struggled since returning from injury, and there is no guarantee he will play in Week 17. Even if he does suit up, fantasy owners should look for a safer option.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin inactive

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 12:09:17 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin has been declared inactive for the team's Week 16 game.

Fantasy Tip: Martin was not on the injury report this week, so it appears he is a healthy scratch. Charles Sims may see most of the work at running back during the game and can be a No. 2 running back or a flex option for owners.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin, Charles Sims top RB chart

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 16:28:50 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RBs Doug Martin and Charles Sims are the two top active running backs for the Week 15 game against the Dallas Cowboys with RB Jacquizz Rodgers a healthy scratch. RB Peyton Barber is also active.

Fantasy Tip: It's interesting, as Martin was not going much recently and it sounded like Rodgers would see a bigger piece of the offensive pie. Now, a week later, he is a healthy scratch. Martin and Sims could each split the carries since both have been injury prone, making for a tough fantasy situation.

Buccaneers | 'Nothing wrong' with Doug Martin

Tue, 13 Dec 2016 09:02:57 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin has run the ball 103 times for just 294 yards (2.9 yards per carry) since his return from a hamstring strain five weeks ago, but head coach Dirk Koetter doesn't appear to be overly concerned about the lack of production so far from his running back. "Doug has been running hard. I mean, when I see people (complaining) about (his) two-something rushing average or whatever it is, I say (look) at that 2-yard run he had in San Diego … and that 1-yard run he had (Sunday against the New Orleans Saints). I sure liked those. I mean, he broke about 10 tackles to get that 1-yard (touchdown run against New Orleans) and that was our only touchdown of the game. So there's nothing wrong with Doug Martin. What we've got to do is give him more (running) lanes," Koetter said.

Fantasy Tip: As the Tampa Bay passing game has been reduced to Mike Evans and Cameron Brate due to a number of injuries at receiver, defenses have been able to load up the box on Martin. Still. it would appear Martin's power has returned based solely on his recent touchdown runs. It is unlikely things are going to get much better for him anytime soon with the Dallas Cowboys and Saints next up on the schedule, so owners need to view Martin as a touchdown-dependent RB2 the rest of this season.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin has serviceable day

Mon, 12 Dec 2016 05:18:16 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin rushed 23 times for 66 yards and a touchdown Sunday, Dec. 11. He also had two catches for 19 yards against the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: It could have been better, but the touchdown evened things out. Martin continues to be a high-end RB2.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin could see fewer touches

Wed, 07 Dec 2016 22:55:22 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin suffered a minor injury in the Week 13 game against the San Diego Chargers, giving way to RB Jacquizz Rodgers more in the fourth quarter. Rodgers may cut into Martin's touches this week, depending on the game flow and level of production early on, according to ESPN's Jenna Laine.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners never want to hear about a potential scaling back of a role, but Martin could be in for fewer touches. The Saints are so-so against the rush, allowing 97.9 yards per game with 13 touchdowns in 12 games. Martin should be treated as more of a low-end RB2 this weekend.

Mon, 05 Dec 2016 05:16:42 -0800

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (undisclosed) came out of the game OK, Sunday, Dec. 5, according to head coach Dirk Koetter.

Fantasy Tip: Martin struggled with 17 rushes for 45 yards but salvaged his day with a touchdown in Week 13. The New Orleans Saints have been better against RBs of late, but Martin will be a strong RB2 next week.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin injured late in win

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 18:30:03 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (undisclosed) left the Week 13 game against the San Diego Chargers late in the second half. He said he was "bent back" late in the game, which is why RB Jacquizz Rodgers saw so much time down the stretch.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ended up with 17 runs for 45 yards and a touchdown while also hauling in a 23-yard catch on his only target. When healthy he is a solid RB2 in all fantasy leagues. We'll monitor his practice status all week and let you know if he'll be available for Week 14 against the New Orleans Saints.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin turning it up

Mon, 28 Nov 2016 05:46:36 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin rushed 23 times for 87 yards against the Seattle Seahawks Sunday, Nov. 27. He caught two balls for three yards and lost a fumble as well.

Fantasy Tip: He has carried the ball 24 and 23 times in respective weeks, and yesterday's 3.8 yards per carry was a season high. He has a good matchup against the San Diego Chargers next week as an RB2.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (hamstring) rushed 24 times for 63 yards in the Week 11 game against the Kansas City Chiefs and he added three receptions for 42 yards on four targets.

Fantasy Tip: The 27 touches was a good sign that Martin's hamstring issue is official behind him. He'll face a big test when the Seattle Seahawks come calling to Raymond James Stadium in Week 12. Treat him more as a flex fantasy option in that matchup.

Fantasy Tip: Martin is active for the first time since Week 2 and has a somewhat unfavorable matchup this week against a Chicago defense that has been strong against the run this year. He is also expected to have a limited workload, so daily fantasy gamers should look for safer options.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin to have limited workload

Sun, 13 Nov 2016 07:22:01 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (hamstring) is expected to be active for Week 10's game against the Chicago Bears, although his workload is likely to be limited, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Martin has been sidelined since Week 2 and will be facing a tough Chicago run defense in his first game back, making him a risky play in all formats. RBs Peyton Barber and Mike James are also expected to see carries but neither player should be considered a viable fantasy option.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin will dress

Sat, 12 Nov 2016 12:23:47 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (hamstring) will be active for the game Sunday, Nov. 13, against the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Considering he was limited in practice this week, it's unlikely that he'll have a full load. The Bears have been good against opposing running backs, and Martin is a very risky flex option in Week 10.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin unlikely to play Week 10

Fri, 11 Nov 2016 12:41:01 -0800

Updating a previous story, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (hamstring) was still doing rehab work during the portions of practice open to the media this week and doesn't appear prepared to play, according to the Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud.

Fantasy Tip: It seems very likely Tampa Bay will sit Martin out this week and hope he can get in a full practice or two next week. Peyton Barber and Mike James should see the bulk of backfield work this weekend against the Chicago Bears.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin to be game-time decision

Fri, 11 Nov 2016 11:23:09 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (hamstring) has yet to be cleared to play and will be a game-time decision, according to head coach Dirk Koetter.

Fantasy Tip: Martin has not played since Week 2 and been limited in practice all week, so there is virtually no chance he'll be asked to carry a significant workload this weekend against the Chicago Bears. Even if Martin plays, owners should expect Peyton Barber to get the start and Mike James to see some work as well.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin participates in practice

Thu, 10 Nov 2016 16:07:10 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (hamstring) participated in practice on a limited basis for the second straight day Thursday, Nov. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Even though he was only limited again, it's still good news that Martin was able to get in another practice, considering he's missed the last six games. The Muscle Hamster also said after Wednesday's session that he was feeling "fine," which could be an indication that he's ready to get back on the field. With Jacquizz Rodgers likely out again this weekend, Martin can be plugged back into lineups in all leagues as long as he is active.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin looking to do more

Thu, 10 Nov 2016 08:50:09 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (hamstring) plans to do more in practice Thursday, Nov. 10, and felt fine after his first practice Wednesday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: The signs are that the team is going to tread cautiously with Martin after his season has mostly been a wash due to recurring hamstring strains. If he plays, he'll likely be limited, and he's probably not the best flex option against the Chicago Bears.
