Bills | Sammy Watkins to contribute immediately

Fri, 09 May 2014 14:01:55 -0700

The Buffalo Bills believe WR Sammy Watkins will contribute to their offense "immediately," and they view him among the likes of Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones and Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green. Watkins is expected to be the team's No. 1 wideout, followed by WR Robert Woods. After that, the team will find a way to fit WRs Mike Williams, Marquise Goodwin and T.J. Graham into the picture.

Fantasy Tip: It's always risky to expect too much out of a wideout in his first season, especially as he grows with young QB EJ Manuel. Still, Watkins has the tools to be great, even in his first year. For now, consider him a WR3 until we see more.

Bills | Stevie Johnson won't play

Fri, 15 Nov 2013 09:47:06 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Stevie Johnson (groin) will not play in Week 11 against the New York Jets. He leads the team with 41 catches for 471 yards and three touchdowns this year. WRs T.J. Graham and Marquise Goodwin will likely start with both Johnson and WR Robert Woods (ankle) out.

Fantasy Tip: The Bills will be stuck with backup wideouts Graham and Goodwin. They'll be flex options for fantasy owners, at best, in deeper leagues. Scott Chandler's value perks up a bit this week.

Wed, 13 Nov 2013 12:40:11 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Stevie Johnson (groin) may not be able to play in Week 11 against the New York Jets, and head coach Doug Marrone is unsure if Johnson will be a game-time decision after missing practice Wednesday, Nov. 13. "Stevie's working hard on the rehabilitation. He wants to see how it feels later on, and then he's going to see how it feels to go," Marrone said.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson will be a risky start this weekend, and your decision may come down to Sunday morning. If he plays, he's a WR2 or 3. Marquise Goodwin and T.J. Graham will see more looks if Johnson doesn't play.

Buffalo Bills general manager Doug Whaley had WR T.J. Graham watch tape of how Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace runs routes to help improve is route running. "He runs them full speed, he's got a lot of herky-jerky. He's pressing vertical all the time. Last year, I don't think I pressed vertical as well as I should have. I didn't get that burst of speed coming out of breaks that I should have. This year, I feel like those are key points I need to improve on," Graham said.

Bills | Could get creative with Robert Woods

Mon, 20 May 2013 14:08:05 -0700

Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone said he could use WR Robert Woods both outside and in the slot position in his rookie season.

Fantasy Tip: T.J. Graham can also fill the slot position for Buffalo, but Woods is a much more versatile receiver. Expect Woods to see plenty of snaps in this offense, which will make him a late-round pick in drafts this year. However, it's tough to envision Woods making a big fantasy splash in his first season and with uncertainty at the quarterback position.

Mon, 22 Apr 2013 06:25:43 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR T.J. Graham has impressed the team early in mini-camps. With WRs Donald Jones and David Nelson gone, Graham has an opportunity to seize a prominent role. "I feel really good about T.J. Graham," said WR Stevie Johnson. "I have been watching him since he got here, but these past couple days he looks like a kid with something on his mind. Like as if he is trying to take over the team or take over this receiving corps. It is going to be fun competing with him and the rest of the guys in the room."

Bills | Stevie Johnson to move to slot

Fri, 14 Dec 2012 10:23:39 -0800

Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix said the team would like to add a prominent wide receiver in the NFL Draft next year and move WR Stevie Johnson into the slot. WR T.J. Graham's development has been slow this year, and he started his first game in Week 14. "I think Stevie's a guy that you can play him in the slot or you can play him outside. But we need a big-time outside receiver. T.J. gives us a lot of that, but you still need to get another, bigger guy that can line up out there and catch the ball when he's covered," Nix said.

Bills | Stevie Johnson critical of play call

Wed, 14 Nov 2012 04:25:07 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Stevie Johnson second-guessed why a more experienced wide receiver wasn't targeted on a Week 10 play that ended with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing an interception into the end zone to seal a 37-31 loss. Johnson also came to WR T.J. Graham's defense, saying the rookie receiver shouldn't be faulted for running the wrong route because he had never attempted it in practice. "I don't think it was the wrong play. But just the whole thing leading up to it," Johnson said, noting that he, WR Donald Jones and TE Scott Chandler were more familiar at running the route. "We had people in positions where maybe they shouldn't have been. So who knows what would've happened if it was Donald, me or Scott there. So it's no blame on T.J. at all, because he's never run that route in practice or in a game."
