Rockies | Chris Rusin struggles on the road

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 20:07:39 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Chris Rusin is scheduled to start Tuesday, Aug. 11, against the New York Mets. He is 1-3 with a 5.40 ERA on the road.

Fantasy Tip: Rusin ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) hasn't won since June 21, a span of seven starts and one relief appearance. Needless to say, he isn't a very attractive FantasyScore option, especially since he is opposed by Matt Harvey.

Rockies | Chris Rusin looks to keep it going

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 18:27:27 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Chris Rusin heads into his scheduled start Thursday, June 11, against the Miami Marlins looking for similar results to last time out. He allowed just two earned runs with eight strikeouts over seven innings in a win against the Marlins at Coors Field June 6.

Fantasy Tip: Rusin ($3,100; or 6.2% of cap) is a nice speculative pick in FantasyScore given his success against the Marlins last time out. In three appearances (two starts) he has averaged 12.89 fantasy points per appearance.

Marlins | Unwelcomed first for Giancarlo Stanton

Sat, 06 Jun 2015 20:05:13 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton went 1-for-5 with a double and a run scored but was struck out four times by Colorado Rockies SP Chris Rusin Saturday, June 6, marking the first time Stanton has been struck out four times in one game by the same pitcher.

Fantasy Tip: Stanton ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) has now whiffed 79 times this year, but he also leads the majors with 47 RBIs and is tied for second with 18 home runs. He has one of the highest ceilings of any player at any position at FantasyScore, and with Sunday's starter for Colorado, Kyle Kendrick, sporting a 7.99 ERA at home this year, paying up for Stanton could pay off in a big way.

Rockies | Jordan Lyles to miss start, DL likely?

Mon, 01 Jun 2015 16:51:44 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jordan Lyles (toe) will miss his next start after leaving the game with an injury for the third time in his last four starts Sunday, May 31. He'll also likely require a trip to the disabled list, although the team won't confirm it yet. "I tried to get out of the way and when I pushed off, I over-extended the joint," Lyles said. "Same as last start." Lyles was replaced by SP Chris Rusin, who pitched four innings without allowing an earned run, and he'd be the obvious choice to replace Lyles in the rotation.

Fantasy Tip: Between his injuries and poor performance, there's no reason to hang onto Lyles ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) in shallow mixed leagues anymore. Rusin is worth a speculative pickup in NL-only leagues but is strictly a matchup play as a sleeper on FantasyScore if he takes Lyles' rotation spot.

Rockies | Jordan Lyles injured

Sun, 31 May 2015 15:10:55 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Jordan Lyles (toe) was injured in his start Sunday, May 31, and had to leave the game against the Philadelphia Phillies. Lyles left the game with an injury to his left big toe, and SP Chris Rusin took his place.

Fantasy Tip: No announcement was made whether Lyles ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) will have to miss any time, but monitor this situation and see what happens. Lyles has been especially brittle as of late, and that has cost him some fantasy value. Rusin didn't do a bad job in his previous outings, so he may not make a bad emergency replacement.

Rockies | Chris Rusin strong Tuesday

Tue, 26 May 2015 19:32:39 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Chris Rusin allowed one earned run over seven innings Tuesday, May 26, against the Cincinnati Reds.

Fantasy Tip: Rusin allowed four hits and four walks while striking out five batters. It's unknown if Rusin will make another start, but he could be a FantasyScore option if he does.

Rockies | Chris Rusin starting against Reds

Tue, 26 May 2015 15:31:21 -0700

Colorado Rockies SP Chris Rusin is the starting pitcher against the Cincinnati Reds Tuesday, May 26.

Fantasy Tip: Rusin, making a spot start for injured starter Jorge De La Rosa (finger), should be avoided in all daily games today. A smart strategy, though, would be to stack hitters from the Reds lineup at FantasyScore.

Cubs | Dallas Beeler recalled, Chris Rusin optioned

Wed, 09 Jul 2014 12:40:55 -0700

Chicago Cubs SP Dallas Beller was offically recalled from Triple-A Iowa Wednesday, July 9, to start against the Cincinnati Reds, as expected. In a corresponding move, SP Chris Rusin was optioned to Triple-A Iowa.

Fantasy Tip: Beeler didn't allow an earned run in his last start and struck out six batters in six innings. He is auditioning for a permanent spot in the Cubs' rotation worth adding in NL-only leagues. Take a wait-and-see approach in mixed leagues.
