|Patriots | Brandon Bolden lacks consistency|
Tue, 15 Sep 2015 16:27:30 -0700
New England Patriots RB Brandon Bolden has all of the physical tools but runs upright and hasn't been effective in short-yardage situations. He's also not a polished receiver and lacks shiftiness, so he's not a good candidate for third-down work. Bolden's best contributions have come on special teams as he lacks consistency as a runner.
Fantasy Tip: With Dion Lewis surpassing Bolden ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) on the depth chart and LeGarrette Blount returning from suspension in Week 2, there's not much to like about Bolden, and he should only be owned in much deeper leagues. There simply aren't enough touches in the backfield to rely on him at FantasyScore right now.

|Patriots | James White the favorite for third down?|
Tue, 18 Aug 2015 12:34:56 -0700
New England Patriots RBs James White and Brandon Bolden are the top two candidates right now for the third-down running back position, according to ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss. Travaris Cadet and Dion Lewis will also compete behind White and Bolden.
Fantasy Tip: White had an impressive performance in the Patriots' first preseason game last week, catching four passes for 52 yards. Bolden won't be a pushover, but White may be on his way to being New England's pass-catching running back. He's worth a roster spot in PPR leagues.

|Patriots | Brandon Bolden moving up depth chart|
Mon, 10 Aug 2015 20:40:25 -0700
New England Patriots RB Brandon Bolden is currently considered the leader in the race for the third-down back job, ahead of RB James White. Over the past three practices he has been the primary pass-catching and blocking back for QB Tom Brady.
Fantasy Tip: Bolden has been getting important reps, and he could be a factor for fantasy owners in deeper leagues which reward points per reception.

|Patriots | LeGarrette Blount has sprained MCL|
Sat, 08 Aug 2015 05:09:55 -0700
New England Patriots RB LeGarrette Blount (knee) has a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee, according to sources. Blount is expected to be ready for the beginning of the regular season, though. RBs Jonas Gray and Brandon Bolden stand to receive more carries with Blount sidelined.
Fantasy Tip: Remember Blount is suspended for Week 1 of the regular season, so if expectations prove ture, he'll be ready for a cushy Week 2 date with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The New England backfield is often tricky to project from week to week, but Blount should still be viewed as a potential third running back with the potential to be a low-end weekly starter in standard formats. It isn't out of the question to drop him down a tier in your rankings, though. Gray and Bolden are nothing more than late-round fliers, but they're worth watching over the next month, as they could be FantasyScore options early in the season. Travaris Cadet, James White and Dion Lewis are also competing for touches in the crowded backfield. Don't be surprised if Cadet has the best return for investment in seasonal PPR formats this season.

|Patriots | Brandon Bolden part of playoff record|
Sat, 10 Jan 2015 17:56:08 -0800
New England Patriots RB Brandon Bolden led the team with just seven rushing yards in a 35-31 win over the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional-round playoff game Saturday, Jan. 10, and the team's 14 total rushing yards set a record for the fewest by a team in a playoff win.
Fantasy Tip: The lack of rushing yards can largely be attributed to the fact that New England fell behind by two touchdowns early and played from behind most of the game. That being said, trusting any player in the Patriots' backfield remains a risk for fantasy owners.

|Patriots | New England RB split unclear|
Sun, 28 Dec 2014 08:57:13 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Shane Vereen could be limited with home-field locked up, and the Buffalo Bills present a tough matchup. We'd avoid this situation altogether.

|Patriots | Shane Vereen plays 62 snaps|
Mon, 24 Nov 2014 09:17:34 -0800
New England Patriots RB Shane Vereen had a team-high 62 snaps in the team's Week 12 win over the Detroit Lions, but RB LeGarrette Blount had 17 snaps and two touchdowns in his team debut, while RB Brandon Bolden had just two snaps.
Fantasy Tip: Vereen is the safest bet for fantasy football production on the Patriots, especially in PPR leagues like FantasyScore, but the addition of Blount clearly clouds New England's backfield picture, and Bill Belichick can't be predicted on a week-to-week basis.

|Patriots | Brandon Bolden to be more involved?|
Mon, 13 Oct 2014 15:06:20 -0700
New England Patriots RB Brandon Bolden was the fill-in for RB Stevan Ridley (knee) in Week 6 as the "big back." Bolden has been a core special teams player this year, and something will have to give if he's to start being more of a factor at running back with Ridley out for the year. RB Jonas Gray could be promoted from the practice squad.
Fantasy Tip: Shane Vereen and James Wright will immediately be thrust into heavier workloads with Ridley out, but Bolden could be the surprise back in short-yardage and goal-line situations, which would give him some flex appeal in fantasy leagues. Make sure to consider adding Bolden off the waiver wire this week if you own Ridley or need help at running back.
