Cowboys | Minimal work for Lance Dunbar

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 12:46:05 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar (knee) was a part of pre-practice work Wednesday, June 1, before leaving for rehabilitation. Dunbar is still recovering from several torn ligaments in his knee. He could begin the 2016 season on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Fantasy Tip: Dunbar really broke out last year, particularly in the passing game, before his gruesome injuries. If/when he does return to the field, he'll likely be behind Ezekiel Elliott, Darren McFadden and Alfred Morris, so Dunbar's fantasy value is almost non-existent right now.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar likely will be on PUP list

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 10:18:14 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar (knee) likely will be placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list at some point next season.

Fantasy Tip: Dunbar is working his way back from several torn ligaments in his knee and may not be ready for the start of the 2016 season. Dunbar likely will be a third-down back when he plays but likely will not have a lot of fantasy value.

Cowboys | No timetable for Lance Dunbar

Mon, 11 Apr 2016 14:12:52 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar (knee) doesn't know when he'll be able to return to action after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament and patella tendon last season. There is a chance Dunbar may not be healthy enough in time for the start of the regular season, and he could be placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Fantasy Tip: It's no surprise that Dunbar has a lengthy rehabilitation with the severity of the injuries he went through. He proved his worth primarily as a pass-catching running back last season and is still worth a stash in PPR leagues even if he's not able to play right away.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar with no timetable

Thu, 31 Mar 2016 08:46:46 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar (knee) just starting jogging and said there is no timeline for his return.

Fantasy Tip: Dunbar seems iffy for the beginning of the season but could become a factor later on. Keep an eye on his progress.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar re-signs with Cowboys

Thu, 17 Mar 2016 14:36:26 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar re-signed a one-year deal worth $1.75 million with the Cowboys Thursday, March 17, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: The Cowboys are widely speculated to take a running back early in this year's draft, but Dunbar returning gives them more depth behind the injury-prone Darren McFadden in case they don't. The fourth-year back had just five carries for 67 yards after tearing his ACL in Week 4, and he added 21 catches for 215 yards. Depending on what Dallas does at the position in the draft, Dunbar could be worth a late-round flyer in deeper leagues in PPR formats.

Bears | Lance Dunbar visiting Bears

Wed, 16 Mar 2016 06:41:36 -0700

Free-agent RB Lance Dunbar (Cowboys) is visiting the Chicago Bears Wednesday, March 16.

Fantasy Tip: The Bears are looking for someone to pair up with Jeremy Langford, and Dunbar was a miniature version of Matt Forte before he tore up his knee in Dallas. If he signs, and he's healthy, Dunbar could be a sneaky PPR flyer.

Seahawks | Seattle hosting Lance Dunbar

Sun, 13 Mar 2016 12:23:32 -0700

Free-agent RB Lance Dunbar (Cowboys) is visiting the Seattle Seahawks Sunday, March 13.

Fantasy Tip: A gaping hole was left in Seattle's backfield with Marshawn Lynch's retirement. Thomas Rawls is expected to fill most of that hole. In addition, Fred Jackson is a free agent and Dunbar could fill his role as Seattle's change-of-pace, pass-catching running back. Wherever Dunbar plays, he'll be a PPR sleeper, but not starter material.

49ers | Lance Dunbar to visit Thursday

Thu, 10 Mar 2016 14:17:41 -0800

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Lance Dunbar (Cowboys) is visiting the San Francisco 49ers Thursday, March 10.

Fantasy Tip: Dunbar would essentially take over Reggie Bush's role in Chip Kelly's new offense. Dunbar was a valuable part of the Cowboys' offense before being injured last season. He'll have more value in PPR scoring formats wherever he signs.

49ers | Lance Dunbar to with San Fran

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 18:37:04 -0800

Free-agent RB Lance Dunbar (Cowboys) will visit with the San Francisco 49ers, a source said Wednesday, March 9.

Fantasy Tip: Dunbar might flourish in a Chip Kelly offense, as he has decent hands out of the backfield. Fantasy owners could find him to be quite the sleeper if that situation works out.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar placed on IR

Sat, 10 Oct 2015 08:35:38 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Oct. 10. The team also promoted WR Vince Mayle from the practice squad to their active roster.

Fantasy Tip: Darren McFadden ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) and Christine Michael ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) will see more playing time with Dunbar out for the season. McFadden could be a flex option for owners because he could see more carries if Joseph Randle ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) is not able to keep the starting job.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar to have surgery Friday

Wed, 07 Oct 2015 09:22:36 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar (knee) is scheduled for surgery Friday, Oct. 9, and his season is over.

Fantasy Tip: Darren McFadden ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) figures to have a larger role, especially with Joseph Randle ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) may or may not have been benched last week. Christine Michael ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is worth watching, but pass on FantasyScore. Randle is a risky RB2, and McFadden might be a cheap flex worth using against the New England Patriots.

Cowboys | No plans for Dallas to add RB

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 19:43:14 -0700

Despite the loss of Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar (knee) for the season, the team does not plan on bringing in another running back, a source said Tuesday, Oct. 6. RB Christine Michael was added and will serve as the No. 3 tailback behind RBs Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden.

Fantasy Tip: Randle ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) and McFadden ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) will see a majority of the reps, but Michael ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) will see an increase in workload. Still, your best bet for FantasyScore is Randle.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar out for season

Mon, 05 Oct 2015 15:33:52 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar (knee) will miss the rest of the 2015 season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered in Week 4. He scheduled to undergo surgery in the near future to repair the injury. Dunbar also suffered a partially torn medial collateral ligament, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden and Christine Michael could all receive bigger roles with Dunbar out for the season. It is not known if Randle or McFadden will receive more carries moving forward, but both should have fantasy value. Michael is not receiving a lot of work at this point but could become more of a factor as the season goes on.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar has season-ending injury?

Mon, 05 Oct 2015 10:56:52 -0700

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar (knee) suffered a serious knee injury in Week 4 against the New Orleans Saints, and the Cowboys fear that Dunbar tore both the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his knee. He is undergoing an MRI exam Monday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Despite a crowded Dallas backfield, Dunbar ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) was very useful to owners in point-per-reception leagues like FantasyScore. It looks like Dunbar will have to miss considerable time, if not the rest of the year. That makes Darren McFadden ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) much more intriguing to fantasy owners moving forward. Look to pick him up immediately if he's on your league's waiver wire. Christine Michael ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is also worth a stash in deeper leagues.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar might be out a while

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 22:04:36 -0700

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar (knee) will undergo further evaluation after leaving the Week 4 game against the New Orleans Saints. "It doesn't look good," owner and general manager Jerry Jones said Sunday, Oct. 4. Dunbar was wearing a large brace on his left leg and he was on crutches.

Fantasy Tip: Dunbar ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is likely going to miss multiple weeks with the way his injury looked on the field, and the pessimism from Jones.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar injured on kickoff

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 18:39:25 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar (knee) was helped off the field after suffering an apparent left knee injury on a kickoff return to open the second half of the Week 4 game against the New Orleans Saints. He was carted off to the locker room.

Fantasy Tip: Dunbar ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) was injured when fantasy owners hate seeing their guy playing - on kickoffs when they're not accruing fantasy points but risking injury. The injury did not look good at all, and he would be more of a loss in PPR fantasy formats.

Cowboys | Christine Michael to see some action?

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 16:21:01 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Christine Michael took repetitions with the first-team offense in practice this week and is being prepared for game-day duty in Week 4 against the New Orleans Saints. The Cowboys are trying to find a way to carry four running backs on their active roster including RBs Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden and Lance Dunbar. Michael spend the first few weeks in Dallas learning the offense while on the scout team. Michael brings size and a physical style to the run game that the other backs on the team do not. He could serve as the hammer with the Saints expected to use plenty of eight- and nine-man fronts with QB Brandon Weeden at the helm.

Fantasy Tip: The Cowboys have so many mouths to feed at running back that it seems highly unlikely that Michael ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) would come in immediately and make a huge fantasy impact against the Saints. It's not impossible, though, but he'll remain a deep sleeper on FantasyScore for the time being.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar posts 10 receptions

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 22:07:49 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar ran once for five yards in the Week 3 game against the Atlanta Falcons, but his real value in the offense was catching the ball. He had 10 receptions for 100 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Dunbar ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is a legitimate FantasyScore option, as he will see plenty of receptions as the safety valve for Brandon Weeden.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar playing big role

Sat, 19 Sep 2015 19:25:20 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar's 32 snaps in Week 1 were the most of any running back on the team. All but one of his of snaps came on pass plays, and he finished with a career-high eight receptions.

Fantasy Tip: Dunbar ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) doesn't need to carry the ball to be effective, and with Dez Bryant sidelined, he could see even more targets against the Eagles in Week 2 in a game that could be a high-scoring affair. He is worth a flier at FantasyScore if you are looking to save a lot of cap space.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar has eight receptions

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 22:33:35 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar did not have any carries in Week 1 against the New York Giants, but he was able to haul in a game-high eight receptions for 70 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Dunbar ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is well behind Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden for carries, but he proved he is still a very valuable part of the offense. Plus, with Dez Bryant out for at least a month, it's all hands on deck in Big D.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar has strong outing

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 21:32:57 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar caught eight passes for 70 yards, with some of those in relief of WR Dez Bryant (foot), in a 27-26 win over the New York Giants on Sunday, Sept. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Dunbar ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) may have earned some more playing time with Bryant sidelined for 4-6 weeks. He demonstrated some strong yardage against the Giants defense, and it looked like he and Romo were on the same page. He is a decent FantasyScore pickup at this low price, even if it goes up a bit.

Cowboys | A true committee in Dallas

Thu, 10 Sep 2015 12:12:45 -0700

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is unconcerned with who is starting at running back for the team in Week 1 against the New York Giants. RP Joseph Randle has seen most of the first-team snaps over RB Darren McFadden since the spring, and Randle was taking first-team snaps again in a portion of practice open to the media Wednesday, Sept. 9. However, it's clear that Dallas will go with a committee approach in the backfield with Randle, McFadden and RB Lance Dunbar seeing work. The division of labor could change game to game, half to half, quarter to quarter or series to series.

Fantasy Tip: A report yesterday indicated McFadden ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) will be the starter against the Giants, but take that with a grain of salt. We could easily see more of Randle ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) in the second series or for most of the remainder of the game. This backfield will give fantasy owners headaches all year, and hopefully you were able to handcuff both McFadden and Randle. McFadden is the better gamble on FantasyScore in Week 1 because he's cheaper and was "designated" as the starter.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar not in mix to start

Tue, 08 Sep 2015 21:37:40 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar is not in the mix to start in Week 1 against the New York Giants, as he has a clearly defined role as the team's third-down back.

Fantasy Tip: Dunbar ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is behind Joseph Randle ($5,700, 11.4% of cap), Darren McFadden ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) and newly-acquired Christine Michael ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) for consideration to start. Avoid Dunbar in FantasyScore unless injuries or poor play by others create a larger opportunity.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle part of committee?

Fri, 28 Aug 2015 19:06:11 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle will share reps with RB Darren McFadden and RB Lance Dunbar because the Cowboys "intend to take a committee approach," according to Drew Davison of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Fantasy Tip: With Randle unable to separate himself as the lead back, he should be considered a low-end RB2. However, he has plenty of upside if he can eventually earn a bulk of the carries.

Cowboys | None of Dallas RBs standing out

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 18:10:54 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle had seven carries for 30 yards in the preseason game Sunday, Aug. 23, against the San Francisco 49ers, while RB Darren McFadden had three totes for just four yards. RB Lance Dunbar didn't have a run from scrimmage, and managed just two grabs for three yards. "We didn't run the ball very well," head coach Jason Garrett said. "Obviously we were trying to control the line of scrimmage and didn't do a very good job of that." The team was also playing without three starters along the offensive line, so that needs to be taken into account.

Fantasy Tip: Perhaps Jerry Jones and the Dallas braintrust are re-thinking their decision to let DeMarco Murray walk in the offseason. Randle appears to be the frontrunner for the starting, and all indications are he has had the best camp, but it could be a three-headed monster with a 50-30-20 sort of split until one emerges as the clear-cut bellcow. That's just an estimate and not based on any reports, but it is something to keep in mind, especially for FantasyScore players early in the season.

Cowboys | Dallas expected to have top RBs Sunday

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 14:33:07 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RBs Joseph Randle (oblique), Darren McFadden (hamstring) and Lance Dunbar (ankle) are all expected to receive some playing time during the second preseason game Sunday, Aug. 23, according to owner/general manager Jerry Jones.

Fantasy Tip: All three running backs have dealt with minor injuries during training camp, but they appear ready to play. Randle should see most of the work this season and could be a middle-round draft pick. McFadden should see limited work during games and could be a late-round option or a handcuff to Randle. Dunbar should serve as the team's third-down back and could have value in point-per-reception leagues.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar will play Sunday

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 05:21:34 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar (ankle) will play in the second preseason game Sunday, Aug. 23, but he won't play a lot.

Fantasy Tip: Dunbar is a watch list player right now until he establishes a niche in the offense.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar plagued by fumbles

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 22:59:51 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar was replaced in practice Tuesday, Aug. 18, after he fumbled. He has had trouble with fumbling during training camp and the preseason.

Fantasy Tip: Dunbar is trying to push into a meaningful role, but he won't supplant Darren McFadden or Joseph Randle if he can't stay on the field.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar to take part in some drills

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 13:00:51 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar (ankle) is expected to participate in individual and 7-on-7 drills during practice Monday, Aug. 17, but likely will sit out of the team drills.

Fantasy Tip: Dunbar probably will not see regular playing time this season but could be used as a receiver out of the backfield. Dunbar should have more value in point-per-reception leagues and could be a late-round option in most leagues.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar may return to the field

Sat, 15 Aug 2015 07:17:36 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar (ankle) is expected to participate in practice Saturday, Aug. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Dunbar is not a factor in the competition for the starting job, but he could see some playing time on third downs in 2015. Dunbar may have more value in point-per-reception leagues but could be a late-round option in deeper leagues as depth at the position.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar rehabbing

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 16:57:20 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar (ankle) is going through rehab in a practice jersey and shoulder pads Thursday, Aug. 13.

Fantasy Tip: It is unlikely Dunbar moves higher than third on the Cowboys' running back depth chart, but he does need to prove he's still worthy of a spot in the backfield rotation.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar misses another practice

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 17:26:20 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar (ankle) missed his fifth straight practice Monday, Aug. 10, but went through his most exhaustive rehab session yet.

Fantasy Tip: Dunbar is likely to be the team's third running back behind Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden this year, injuries aside. He's mainly a pass-catching option out of the backfield on third downs, too, so he carries minimal value in point-per-reception leagues.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle has impressed

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 17:01:24 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle has impressed the team during training camp, and the starting running back job is his to lose with both RBs Darren McFadden (hamstring) and Lance Dunbar (ankle) dealing with injuries.

Fantasy Tip: Running behind arguably the best offensive line in the entire league, Randle has tons of upside as the front-runner for the starting running back job in Dallas. He has RB2 upside as an early-round fantasy pick.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar not on field

Sat, 08 Aug 2015 10:53:05 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar (ankle) was not on the practice field Saturday, Aug. 8. Dunbar has been dealing with a sprained ankle, but head coach Jason Garrett has already said he doesn't think the injury is serious.

Fantasy Tip: is serious. Dunbar should be the Cowboys' third running back option behind Darren McFadden and Joseph Randle, unless they decide to sign someone else before the season starts. Dunbar is more of a receiving threat and could see the majority of his work on third downs and in passing situations. He's somewhat of a PPR sleeper, but should be viewed as a RB5.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar undergoes MRI

Thu, 06 Aug 2015 12:20:36 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar (ankle) recently underwent an MRI on his injured ankle, but head coach Jason Garrett does not think it is a serious injury.

Fantasy Tip: Dunbar could have a role on third downs this season if he does well during training camp and the preseason. Owners provably could pass on Dunbar during drafts since he will not see regular playing time.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar injures ankle

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 18:24:47 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar suffered an ankle injury Wednesday, Aug. 5. Executive vice president Stephen Jones didn't think the injury was serious, but the team will check it out further.

Fantasy Tip: Dunbar is considered third behind Darren McFadden and Joseph Randle on the Cowboys' unofficial depth chart, and a training camp injury won't help his case to move up the ranks.

Cowboys | Dallas still not interested in veterans

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 17:50:51 -0700

The Dallas Cowboys are still not interested in veteran RBs Chris Johnson and Ray Rice, following the release of RB Ryan Williams Tuesday, July 28. The Cowboys remain confident in RBs Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden and Lance Dunbar.

Fantasy Tip: While Randle and McFadden are thought to have separated themselves from Dunbar, neither one has an upper hand over the other at this point. This will be one of the most closely watched position battles all preseason.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar to have receiving role?

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 13:36:17 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar is expected to have the biggest impact of any of the running backs in the passing game, according to Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News.

Fantasy Tip: It is still anticipated that Dunbar will see less playing time between Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden and himself, but he could be used most of the three in the passing game. In point-per-reception leagues, he should be drafted as a RB5 with RB4 upside if McFadden gets hurt.

Cowboys | No lead candidate at RB in Dallas?

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 13:07:48 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RBs Darren McFadden, Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar are still battling each other for the starting running back position, according to running backs coach Gary Brown. "I can't say who is going to be the lead dog right now, but those guys are going to compete and we're going to do what's necessary to win games," Brown said.

Fantasy Tip: Brown can say what he wants, but Randle and McFadden are probably the likely candidates to receive the most touches, with Randle having a slight edge for being named the starter. Randle should be taken as a RB3, or low-end RB2 in deeper leagues, while McFadden is more of a low-end RB3 to high-end RB4, especially taking his injury history into consideration.

Cowboys | Ryan Williams not a fit in Big D?

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 20:30:52 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Ryan Williams is unlikely to make the 53-man roster projected by beat writer Todd Archer. The team's running backs would be RBs Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden, Lance Dunbar and FB Tyler Clutts.

Fantasy Tip: Williams could still very well make the team, as this is just one man's opinion, but the former Cardinals tailback needs to prove he can stay healthy and be effective first.

Cowboys | Lance Dunbar may be third-down back

Thu, 04 Jun 2015 12:42:42 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar has been working as the primary back in the two-minute drills during organized team activities and could be the team's third-down back this season.

Fantasy Tip: Dunbar probably will not receive regular carries during the regular season but could be used as a receiver out of the backfield. Dunbar would have more value in point-per-reception leagues if he wins the job and could be a late-round option.

Cowboys | Jerry Jones confident in run game

Thu, 14 May 2015 16:41:17 -0700

Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones expressed confidence in the team's overall run game Thursday, May 14. "You say the entire running game, and that would be including our tight ends, including our fullback the entire game we're better," Jones said. The Cowboys have yet to determine roles for their running backs. As it stands, RB Darren McFadden is at the top of the depth chart, with RBs Joseph Randle, Lance Dunbar and Ryan Williams in the mix.

Fantasy Tip: With McFadden's extensive injury history he'll represent too much uncertainty come draft time. If Joseph Randle remains buried on the depth chart, he'll make for an excellent source of value after he rushed for 6.7 yards per carry on 51 attempts last season.

Cowboys | Dallas to continue to pound on ground

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 07:15:43 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RBs Darren McFadden, Lance Dunbar and Joseph Randle figure to see a good amount of work in 2015. Head coach Jason Garrett said the team would like to continue their emphasis on inside running after losing RB DeMarco Murray to the Philadelphia Eagles. "Absolutely," Garrett said. "It has to be replaced. It was a good style of football for us to play. We will try to continue to do that."

Fantasy Tip: Run DMC is listed as the team's No. 1 running back on their depth chart with Dunbar and Randle as the secondary backs. Dunbar is a change-of-pace back and is more of a PPR RB5 flyer. McFadden and Randle are pretty similar, but McFadden has a lengthy history of futility and injuries. It's possible the younger Randle overtakes him in camp. For now, though, McFadden should be viewed as a high-end RB3 and Randle as a RB4.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray to be game-time decision?

Tue, 16 Dec 2014 14:42:03 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) will likely be a game-time decision against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 16, according to owner Jerry Jones. Jones said the team is still evaluating Murray's status for this weekend. "I think we just want to take a look at it. We don't know," Jones said. "I'm not so sure, when they say the definition of healing, how much can heal between now and Sunday." RBs Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar will prepare for increased workloads if Murray can't play, and RB Ryan Williams could be activated off the practice squad.

Fantasy Tip: With Dallas playing an afternoon game Sunday, that makes Murray ($8,200) even more risky at FantasyScore in Week 16. Randle ($5,900) and Dunbar ($3,000) are both more than acceptable plays against a weak Colts run D if Murray sits out. Dunbar is probably the better value play at FantasyScore, though, since it's a PPR league.

Cowboys | Owner optimistic on DeMarco Murray

Tue, 16 Dec 2014 10:14:28 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hand) has a good chance to play in Week 16 against the Indianapolis Colts despite having surgery on a broken left hand, according to owner Jerry Jones. However, Jones thinks RBs Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar can carry the load efficiently if Murray has to sit. Jones also added that Murray won't need to practice this week in order to play.

Fantasy Tip: As of right now, Murray's $8,200 FantasyScore salary seems much too risky against the Indianapolis Colts, who have been run on mostly all year. You'll need to keep track of Murray's status throughout the week, and the fact that they play an afternoon game makes him all the more risky. However, having either Randle ($5,900) or Dunbar ($3,000) to fall back on is nice.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle to see bigger role

Mon, 15 Dec 2014 14:10:43 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle will be the primary running back in Week 16 against the Indianapolis Colts if RB DeMarco Murray (hand) is forced to miss the game. RB Lance Dunbar would likely step into a bigger role, as well. "I have a lot of confidence that Joseph Randle would step up and play big for us," owner Stephen Jones said. "Anytime that he's had a chance to run the ball this year -- which maybe hasn't been enough -- he's been very successful."

Fantasy Tip: Randle should be your first priority on the waiver wire this week, especially if you own Murray. Dunbar could be a nice consolation price, though, especially in PPR leagues such as FantasyScore. Both could be nice sleeper picks in daily leagues against the Colts this weekend if Murray is inactive.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray's workload to decrease?

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 14:38:58 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray is likely to have his workload lessened by head coach Jason Garrett to preserve him for the long season. Murray is currently on pace to tie Larry Johnson's single-season record for carries with 416. Murray has run the ball 130 times for 670 yards in the team's first five games of the season. He carried a career-high 31 times for 136 yards in Week 5. Murray has had at least 22 carries in the five games, which is the most he's had in any five-game span in his career.

"DeMarco was out there and we think that's probably too many carries in the game, week in and week out," Garrett said. "He ended up with 31 so we'd like to get that number lower. We'd really just like to get the other guys an opportunity. I don't see any wear and tear in DeMarco but having said that, we want to make sure we create a rotation and we'll focus on doing that in the next few weeks." Murray has never had more than 217 carries in a season. RBs Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar have combined for 22 carries and 88 yards.

Fantasy Tip: This shouldn't discourage you from using Murray in your daily lineups at FantasyScore. He has been the most productive back in fantasy football, and that shouldn't change drastically with fewer touches.

Cowboys | Bigger role for Joseph Randle, Lance Dunbar?

Fri, 03 Oct 2014 18:56:40 -0700

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said Friday, Oct. 3, that RB Joseph Randle can be effective, and he could be in line for a few more snaps going forward. "The biggest threat to (RB DeMarco Murray's) stats is Joseph Randle," Jones said. "Frankly, I don't want to leave (RB Lance Dunbar) out of this equation, either. If we can, it would be good to have Dunbar with a few more touches. But make no mistake about it, Joseph Randle can be effective out there, too. Should we? We probably should have at least Randle get a few more snaps."
