Chargers | Travis Benjamin shows off wheels

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 20:22:29 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Travis Benjamin posted a 42-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter of the Week 7 game against the Denver Broncos on his only target and he ripped off a 65-yard punt return to open the scoring in the first quarter.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin is a speed burner, and it would be a good idea to try and get the ball in his hands a little more often. For now fantasy owners should only target him as a WR5 with some upside going forward.

Chargers | Travis Benjamin cracks century mark

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 18:29:26 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Travis Benjamin posted five receptions for 105 yards on eight targets in the Week 3 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin is a speed burner, and his 44-yard catch was just one yard short of a career best. Temper expectations heading into Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles, however, as he entered the game with just four grabs for 54 yards and a score. He needs more games like this before he becomes someone to consider regularly in fantasy.

Chargers | Travis Benjamin burns Denver for TD

Tue, 12 Sep 2017 04:12:18 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Travis Benjamin caught three passes for 43 yards, including a 38-yard TD strike from Philip Rivers, in a 24-21 loss to the Denver Broncos on Monday, Sept. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin's workload will only be limited because Rivers has plenty to work with in the offense. He only saw three touches, which suggests his performance in yardage leagues might suffer a bit. Scoring leagues is a different story. A quick strike like that will add up points, so make sure Benjamin is somehow activated in your lineup if you have a scoring league.

Chargers | Travis Benjamin at full strength

Sun, 02 Jul 2017 18:06:04 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Travis Benjamin (knee) is fully healthy heading into training after having knee surgery at the end of last season.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin has big-play speed, but consistency is going to be tough to come by as part of a suddenly deep receiving corps. He is a late-round flier in deeper formats.

Chargers | Travis Benjamin as fast as ever

Sun, 18 Jun 2017 18:21:45 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Travis Benjamin's vertical speed is a "game changer" for the offense, according to head coach Anthony Lynn, and Lynn said he wants Benjamin to return punts this season.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin has the speed to take the top off the defense, but the Chargers' crowded receiving corps will make consistency tough to come by. His value will be tied to big plays, making him more appealing as a DFS flier than a standard league option.

Chargers | Travis Benjamin saw numbers drop in '16

Mon, 05 Jun 2017 21:48:17 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Travis Benjamin saw his numbers drop across the board in 2016 in his first year with the club. In his final season in Cleveland in 2015, Benjamin registered 68 catches on 125 targets for 966 yards and five touchdowns, while playing in all 16 games. Last year, though, Benjamin managed to suit up in 14 games, en route to notching 47 receptions on 75 targets for 677 yards and four touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: Even when No. 1 wide-out Keenan Allen went down in the beginning of the campaign, Benjamin still couldn't consistently post the big statistics that some owners were expecting, as injuries also contributed to his sometimes erratic play. With Allen set to return, not to mention the presence of emerging receiver Tyrell Williams and first-round draft pick Mike Williams, it doesn't seem likely Benjamin can be relied upon regularly in fantasy this season.

Chargers | Travis Benjamin could be returner

Sun, 19 Feb 2017 11:55:18 -0800

Los Angeles Chargers WR Travis Benjamin could be used as a punt returner next season. Benjamin was the punt returner during the early part of 2016 but struggled with his decision making and was replaced.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin probably would not see a lot of time as a returner in 2017 because he should have a solid role in the passing game. He finished 2016 with 47 receptions, 677 yards and four touchdowns. Owners in most leagues should consider Benjamin a No. 4 receiver in drafts.

Chargers | Travis Benjamin had knee surgery

Tue, 31 Jan 2017 15:55:52 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Travis Benjamin (knee) underwent arthroscopic knee surgery last week to repair a Grade 2 posterior cruciate ligament sprain. Benjamin had been dealing with the sprain for several weeks. A timetable for his recovery was not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: The Chargers' offense may have had more major injuries to its offense than any other team in the NFL in 2016. Benjamin shouldn't be as involved next season with Keenan Allen and others returning from injury, but he's still a viable deep threat. Consider him in the later rounds of standard drafts.

Chargers | Travis Benjamin inactive

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 12:29:38 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Travis Benjamin has been declared inactive for the team's Week 17 game.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin was not on the injury report this week, so it appears like he is a healthy scratch. He should have a solid role in the passing game next season and can be a No. 3 receiver in some leagues. Tyrell Williams and Dontrelle Inman should receive most of the work in the passing game. Williams can be a No. 3 receiver for owners, while Inman can be a flex option.
