Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos FS T.J. Ward (ankle) and DT Sylvester Williams (ankle) are considered day-to-day, according to head coach Gary Kubiak. Kubiak said it will take a little work to get them back.

Denver Broncos DT Sylvester Williams continued to receive praise, this time from head coach Gary Kubiak after practice last weekend. Williams added weight at the request of the team and is now 318 pounds. He remains in the middle of the defensive line, but he's no longer asked to hold the line, he's asked to move it in the new 3-4 defensive scheme. Williams failed to stand out in the 4-3 defense last year, and he mainly played on first downs and had 18 total tackles. He'll mainly be asked to stop the run in the Broncos defense.

Denver Broncos DT Sylvester Williams has changed his diet, lost weight, studied film and worked with defensive line coach Bill Kollar to improve his physique and on-field game this offseason. Williams will play more of the nose guard position in 2015 with the Broncos switching to a 3-4 defense under new defensive coordinator Wade Phillips.

Denver Broncos DT Sylvester Williams could take on a bigger role on the team next year if impending free-agent DT Terrance Knighton walks in free agency. Williams showed improvement last year, and general manager John Elway thinks he can play even better. New defensive line coach Bill Kollar is expected to push Williams to improve.

In his second season in the NFL, Denver Broncos DL Malik X. Jackson leads the team with 11 tackles for lost yardage and 15 quarterback hurries. "I think he has improved tremendously," Broncos coach John Fox said. "He and (rookie) Sylvester Williams have both improved a lot. Our young guys have gotten more time, some of it due to injuries, some of it due to their getting better. They improved a lot in practice and both have stepped in and done a very good job."

The Denver Broncos are leaning toward placing DT Kevin Vickerson (hip) on the season-ending Injured Reserve in order to add another defensive tackle to the active roster. Vickerson has been an early-down player in the team's base defense as well as nickel packages. DTs Mitch Unrein and Sylvester Williams split time filling in for Vickerson in Week 12. Williams hasn't materialized as a key player up front this season, and he's been inactive three times this year and twice in the past four games.
