Astros | Evan Gattis gets a day off

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 16:25:06 -0700

Houston Astros OF Evan Gattis is getting a routine day off Thursday, July 30, against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Matt Shoemaker. 1B Chris Carter will fill in as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Carter ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) picks up his DH duties, although he's not a recommended play this evening. The lumbering slugger has struggled mightily as of late, having only five hits in the month of July in 44 at-bats -- good for a putrid .114 average. Shoemaker is allowing 1.6 homers per nine innings this year, but he's been much better of late. Carter is still more of a dice roll in daily formats on the chance he connects and goes deep.

Astros | Evan Gattis heating up at the plate

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 16:06:34 -0700

Houston Astros C Evan Gattis is batting .387 with four extra-base hits and five RBI during his current eight-game hitting streak.

Fantasy Tip: Gattis ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) faces Trevor Bauer Wednesday, and he should be viewed as a high-risk, high-reward FantasyScore option. In seasonal leagues, Gattis could be worth targeting as a buy-low candidate.

Astros | Colby Rasmus sitting out

Sun, 05 Jul 2015 08:04:42 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus is not in the starting lineup against Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez Sunday, July 5. C Evan Gattis will start in left field and is batting fourth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) may not be in the lineup because the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Gattis ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) has picked up at least one hit in nine of his last 10 games and has eight RBI in that span. Owners on FantasyScore could consider using Gattis in their lineup.

Astros | Evan Gattis out of the lineup

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 15:16:38 -0700

Houston Astros C Evan Gattis is not in the starting lineup against Kansas City Royals SP Joe Blanton Monday, June 29. 1B Jon Singleton will serve as the designated hitter and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Gattis ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) likely is receiving the day off and should return soon. Singleton ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) has gone 0-for-4 since being called up and is not a great option on FantasyScore at this point.

Astros | Evan Gattis out vs. Rockies

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 14:24:01 -0700

Houston Astros C Evan Gattis is not in the starting lineup against the Colorado Rockies Wednesday, June 17.

Fantasy Tip: Without the option to utilize a designated hitter, Gattis ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) is out of the lineup Wednesday. For the season, he has delivered in the counting stats with 31 runs, 12 home runs and 39 RBI. However, his .232 batting average leaves a little to be desired. Continue to view Gattis as a second-tier catcher due to his power, and enjoy his final season of eligibility as a backstop.

Astros | Evan Gattis ties career high

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 17:27:58 -0700

Houston Astros C Evan Gattis went 4-for-5 with three runs scored in a 13-0 win over the Seattle Mariners Sunday, June 14, tying his career high for hits in a game.

Fantasy Tip: Gattis ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) is hitting .236 this year, so multi-hit outings aren't his speciality. However, he does have 12 homers, and his power makes him a great high-upside play at FantasyScore, especially when he is facing a right-handed pitcher.

Astros | Evan Gattis riding hit streak

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 16:52:47 -0700

Houston Astros C Evan Gattis enters the game Tuesday, June 2, riding a season-long eight-game hitting streak in which he's hitting .424.

Fantasy Tip: Gattis ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) is finally starting to see the hits fall after he couldn't buy a hit in April. The slugger has raised his average to .231 (42-for-182) with 11 home runs and 33 RBI. You should feel more comfortable running with Gattis on FantasyScore, especially against righties, who he has an OPS of .793 against with eight of his 11 dingers.

Houston Astros C Evan Gattis hit his 10th home run of the season Wednesday, May 27, against the Baltimore Orioles. Gattis collected two other hits on the day.

Fantasy Tip: Gattis ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) is on a four-game hit streak, during which he is 8-for 17. FantasyScore owners can consider Gattis against right-handed pitchers while he rides out this hot streak.

Astros | Evan Gattis sitting out vs. Jay Birds

Thu, 14 May 2015 13:16:16 -0700

Houston Astros C Evan Gattis is not in the starting lineup against the Toronto Blue Jays Thursday, May 14. OF Preston Tucker is batting eighth as the designated hitter Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to remove Gattis ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) from your fantasy lineups Thursday. The slugger is struggling mightily and is currently mired in a 3-for-27 slump with a .291 OPS. FantasyScore players will want to avoid Gattis until he shows signs of life at the dish, especially at his cap hit. Tucker ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is 1-for-10 to start his career, and he should be viewed as a low-priced flier for daily contests until he proves otherwise.

Astros | Evan Gattis in bad slump

Wed, 13 May 2015 09:02:45 -0700

Houston Astros C Evan Gattis is mired in a 2-for-19 slump and hitless in his last 15 at-bats.

Fantasy Tip: Gattis ($4,900, 9.8% of your cap) is at too high of a price to play on FantasyScore until he breaks out.
