Giants | Buster Posey out of lineup Saturday

Sat, 29 Aug 2015 11:10:35 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey is not in the starting lineup against St. Louis Cardinals SP Lance Lynn Saturday, Aug. 29. C Andrew Susac will start behind the plate and bat seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Remove Posey ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) from all daily fantasy lineups. Susac ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is batting just .150 (6-for-40) since July 1, and is not a great FantasyScore option this afternoon.

Giants | Brandon Belt not starting Sunday

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 13:55:01 -0700

San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt is not starting Sunday, Aug. 23, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. C Buster Posey is at first base and C Andrew Susac is catching, and Posey is batting third against Pirates SP Francisco Liriano.

Fantasy Tip: Belt ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) appears to be the victim of a lefty vs. lefty matchup in this game, as he hits .237-4-14 against left-handed pitching. Posey ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) hits .455 against Liriano, so he should definitely be in your FantasyScore lineup if you need a catcher.

Giants | Andrew Susac starting vs. Cards

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 15:50:07 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Andrew Susac is starting behind the plate and batting sixth against St. Louis Cardinals SP Jaime Garcia Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Susac ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) owns a .333/.400/.500 slash line through 40 plate appearances against southpaws this season, so he is worth a low-priced flier in daily contests Wednesday. Buster Posey is starting at first base, though, and he is also worth considering. With them both owning catcher eligibility at FantasyScore, there is potential to spend up or down at the position.

Giants | Buster Posey resting Monday

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 13:35:22 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey is not in the starting lineup Monday, Aug. 17. C Andrew Susac is starting and hitting sixth against St. Louis Cardinals SP Michael Wacha.

Fantasy Tip: This will be Susac's ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) first start since being activated from the DL today. It's not an easy matchup in his first game back, either, so you should look to ignore him in daily leagues.

Giants | Andrew Susac ready to ramp it up

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 18:40:16 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Andrew Susac said Tuesday, Aug. 4, that he has good and bad days with the rehab of his sprained right thumb, but he might be ready to test his injury more rigorously. He has been practicing his swing in the cages, and could take on-field batting practice as early as Wednesday, Aug. 5, or Thursday, Aug. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Susac is a useful FantasyScore option when he is behind the dish, as he has a little bit of offensive upside with not that heavy of a price tag ($2,100, 4.2% of cap).

Phillies | Cole Hamels headed to SF?

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 18:48:45 -0700

The Philadelphia Phillies reportedly discussed a potential trade that would have sent SP Cole Hamels to the San Francisco Giants, in exchange for C Andrew Susac, SP Tyler Beede and two minor leaguers.

Fantasy Tip: Susac ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is batting .241 with three home runs and 11 RBIs through 41 games and has his path to regular playing time behind the plate blocked by Buster Posey ($5,500, 11.0% of cap). Beede was a first-round pick in the 2014 draft and is 4-6 with a 3.47 ERA through 17 minor league starts this year. In the event that Hamels does not get traded, he is expected to start against the Atlanta Braves Friday, July 31, or Saturday, Aug. 1.

Giants | Buster Posey starting at first base

Sun, 12 Jul 2015 11:34:28 -0700

San Francisco Giants C/1B Buster Posey will start at first base against Philadelphia Phillies SP Chad Billingsley Sunday, July 12, batting cleanup. C Andrew Susac will start behind the plate and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Posey ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) is 12-for-26 with five RBIs against Billingsley in his career, so he should be started with confidence in FantasyScore this afternoon. Susac ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is just 2-for-22 this month and should be avoided despite his cap-friendly price.

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey is out of the starting lineup for the second straight game Wednesday, July 8. C Andrew Susac is behind the plate and is hitting seventh against New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom.
