Phillies | Cole Hamels headed to SF?

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 18:48:45 -0700

The Philadelphia Phillies reportedly discussed a potential trade that would have sent SP Cole Hamels to the San Francisco Giants, in exchange for C Andrew Susac, SP Tyler Beede and two minor leaguers.

Fantasy Tip: Susac ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is batting .241 with three home runs and 11 RBIs through 41 games and has his path to regular playing time behind the plate blocked by Buster Posey ($5,500, 11.0% of cap). Beede was a first-round pick in the 2014 draft and is 4-6 with a 3.47 ERA through 17 minor league starts this year. In the event that Hamels does not get traded, he is expected to start against the Atlanta Braves Friday, July 31, or Saturday, Aug. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Susac ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is expected to be sidelined for a week to 10 days, and the Giants could re-call C Hector Sanchez from Class AAA Sacramento.

Giants | Buster Posey starting at first base

Sun, 12 Jul 2015 11:34:28 -0700

San Francisco Giants C/1B Buster Posey will start at first base against Philadelphia Phillies SP Chad Billingsley Sunday, July 12, batting cleanup. C Andrew Susac will start behind the plate and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Posey ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) is 12-for-26 with five RBIs against Billingsley in his career, so he should be started with confidence in FantasyScore this afternoon. Susac ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is just 2-for-22 this month and should be avoided despite his cap-friendly price.

Giants | Andrew Susac catching

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 09:04:01 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Andrew Susac is behind the plate and hitting seventh against Miami Marlins SP Jose Fernandez Thursday, July 2. C Buster Posey is starting at first base.

Fantasy Tip: Susac ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is an intriguing sleeper catcher option on FantasyScore some of the time, especially since he receives semi-regular playing time with Posey moving to first often. However, he's one to avoid against former National League Rookie of the Year Fernandez, even though it's his first start in over a year due to injury.

Giants | Buster Posey exits game

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 19:16:27 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey (head) took a foul ball off his mask against the Miami Marlins Wednesday, July 1, in the second inning, but didn't leave the game until the fifth inning. He was replaced by C Andrew Susac.

Fantasy Tip: Susac ($2,100, 4.2% of cap), who hit .342 in 38 at-bats last month, would serve as the team's primary catcher if Posey ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) is forced to miss an extended amount of playing time. Check back for further updates on Posey's status.

Giants | Andrew Susac behind the plate

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 14:17:57 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Andrew Susac is catching and hitting seventh against Miami Marlins SP Mat Latos Tuesday, June 30. C Buster Posey is at first base and 1B Brandon Belt moves to left field.

Fantasy Tip: Susac ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) can help save some cap space at catcher and could be a profitable sleeper play against Latos, who has struggled at home this year. Posey ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) is a strong play and has three home runs in 18 career at-bats against Latos. Belt ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) is another good option with Latos allowing a slash line of .311/.352/.496 against left-handed hitters in 2015.

Giants | Buster Posey playing first Saturday

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 12:35:45 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey is making his second consecutive start at first base Saturday, June 27, against the Colorado Rockies. C Andrew Susac is once again starting behind the plate.

Fantasy Tip: Susac ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is batting .367 during the month of June and .455 over the past week, so it's easy to see why the Giants want to keep his bat in the lineup. He batted seventh Friday and has been moved up to the No. 5 spot this afternoon. Posey ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) is hitting .286 with three homers and 21 RBIs this month and remains a high-end catcher in all fantasy formats.
