New York Yankees SP Chris Capuano will start Saturday, July 26, against the Toronto Blue Jays. SP Chase Whitley will lose his rotation spot and pitch out of the bullpen.
Fantasy Tip: Capuano hasn't started a game all season, so his innings should be limited. It could take a few starts to stretch his arm out. He is worth a speculative flier in AL-only formats and could develop into a matchup-related deep-mixed play. Obviously, Whitley's value plummets, and he isn't worth a roster spot, at this point.

The New York Yankees are not listing a starter for the game against the Baltimore Orioles Sunday, July 13, with SP Masahiro Tanaka (elbow) on the disabled list. SP Chase Whitley could be an option, or the team could use a bullpen approach right before the All-Star break.

New York Yankees SP Masahiro Tanaka (elbow) has been placed on the disabled list with right elbow inflammation.
Fantasy Tip: This could be the nail in the coffin for the Yankees' season, depending on Tanaka's MRI results. The good news is that this comes right before the All-Star break. Check back for the results of his tests, when we should have a better idea of how much time he'll miss. Chase Whitley, who was just recently sent to the bullpen, could regain a long-term spot in the rotation if Tanaka's injury turns out to be serious.

New York Yankees SP Shane Greene will remain in the rotation, and SP Chase Whitley will move to the bullpen, according to manager Joe Girardi.
Fantasy Tip: AL-only players looking for a desperation add could look here, but there's not much to like for fantasy purposes.

New York Yankees SP Chase Whitley won his third straight start Wednesday, June 18, against the Toronto Blue Jays, but his walkless streak of 32 1/3 innings and 133 batters came to an end.

New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia (knee) will be out until at least July, according to general manager Brian Cashman. "It will be no sooner than six weeks from now," Cashman said in discussing a potential return date for Sabathia. Cashman said P Adam Warren is the next pitcher they would look to to fill a rotation spot if another need arises. Sabathia will stop using crutches and begin work in a pool Tuesday, May 20.
Fantasy Tip: Early July is probably the best-case scenario for Sabathia's return. If we're being realistic, a return after the All-Star break probably makes more sense. Chase Whitley's stock in AL-only leagues has gone up tremendously.

New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi said SP Chase Whitley will remain in the starting rotation "as of now," and said he would be "kind of shocked" if CC Sabathia (knee) was able to return from the disabled list when he is eligible to be activated next week. Sabathia is still using crutches but is scheduled to be re-evaluated Monday, May 19, or Tuesday, May 20.

New York Yankees SP Chase Whitley pitched 4 2/3 shutout innings Thursday, May 15, against the New York Mets, and he was pulled only because manager Joe Girardi wished not to tax his pitching arm. Girardi called his effort spectacular but did not say whether Whitley would earn a second start.

New York Yankees SP Chase Whitley will be recalled from the minors to make the start Thursday, May 15, in place of SP CC Sabathia (knee).
