Angels | No Kole Calhoun

Thu, 07 Aug 2014 14:22:31 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Kole Calhoun is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Aug. 7, against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Fantasy Tip: Remove Calhoun from your daily lineups. He has fared much better against right-handed pitchers this season, so sitting against lefty Hyun-Jin Ryu isn't a shock. Calhoun has slowed down significantly over the past month, too.

Angels | Kole Calhoun out

Tue, 05 Aug 2014 14:45:16 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Kole Calhoun is out of the starting lineup Tuesday, Aug. 5, with OF Collin Cowgill replacing him in right field.

Fantasy Tip: Calhoun is probably thankful that he's receiving a day off against Clayton Kershaw. Cowgill isn't a good daily option while going against the best pitcher in baseball.

Angels | Kole Calhoun plays into everyday role

Mon, 07 Jul 2014 20:17:44 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Kole Calhoun was in the starting lineup Monday, July 7, against the Toronto Blue Jays despite a left-handed pitcher on the mound. It was his first start against a lefty since May 31. Calhoun is a left-handed hitter who has been in a platoon situation with Collin Cowgill, but Calhoun's recent hot streak pushed him into the starting lineup. Entering Monday, Calhoun was hitting .481 over his past eight games. "I don't know if there's a player hotter in our league than Kole Calhoun right now," manager Mike Scioscia said.

Angels | Kole Calhoun more patient from leadoff spot

Fri, 30 May 2014 10:26:16 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Kole Calhoun had been 1-for-19 in seven games since returning from his sprained right ankle, but he had two hits, two walks, three runs scored and saw 29 pitches in five plate appearances from the leadoff spot Thursday, May 29. Calhoun had been impatient and was swinging at bad pitches at the bottom of the order. "I've been swinging at a lot of their pitches," Calhoun said. "The name of the game is to pick your own pitch, to do damage with something in the middle of the plate. I hit a couple of good pitches, had some knocks, got on base, scored some runs. If I'm going to be in that one-spot, that's got to be my game."

Fantasy Tip: It'll be interesting to see if skipper Mike Scioscia leaves Calhoun in the leadoff spot moving forward. If Calhoun continues to perform like he did last night, he might move away from platoon duty in the outfield.
