Indians | Yan Gomes not in the lineup

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 13:41:02 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes is not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP John Gant Monday, June 27. C Chris Gimenez will start at catcher and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Gimenez has four hits in his last four games but is still hitting only .161 this month. Owners probably should avoid Gimenez in all fantasy leagues.

Indians | Juan Uribe resting Saturday

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 10:29:08 -0700

Cleveland Indians 3B Juan Uribe is not in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez Saturday, June 25. INF/OF Jose Ramirez will bat fifth and play the hot corner, OF Tyler Naquin will bat eighth and play center field and OF Rajai Davis will bat ninth and play left field. In addition, C Yan Gomes will start behind the plate and bat seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Naquin is batting .318 with five home runs and 12 RBI in 44 at-bats this month and merits serious consideration for daily fantasy lineups today, while Ramirez and Davis are also batting over .300 during June. Gomes' overall numbers for 2016 remain horrendous, although he is 7-for-14 in his career versus Sanchez and is 6-for-16 at the plate this week, making this a very favorable matchup for him in DFS.

Indians | Yan Gomes should return soon

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 14:22:44 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes (back) is out of the lineup for the second straight day because he had a cyst in his lower back drained. He will be available to pinch hit Friday, June 24, and should be in the lineup Saturday, June 25.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should keep an eye on the situation to see if Gomes will return Saturday or if he will need more time. Chris Gimenez is starting at catcher Friday but is not a strong fantasy option.

Indians | Cleveland resting two starters

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 13:57:09 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes and OF Rajai Davis are not in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer Wednesday, June 22. C Chris Gimenez will start at catcher and is batting eighth. INF Jose Ramirez will start in left field, while 3B Juan Uribe will start at third base and is batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Gimenez is hitting only .173 this season and should be avoided in most leagues. Uribe is hitting .412 with four home runs and seven RBI over the last seven days and should be a starting option because of his recent hot streak.

Indians | Several CLE regulars return to lineup

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 10:45:05 -0700

Cleveland Indians 3B Juan Uribe, C Yan Gomes and OF Tyler Naquin are in the starting lineup versus Chicago White Sox SP James Shields Saturday, June 18. OF Rajai Davis is receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Uribe is in the midst of a 1-for-20 slump and is not a recommended fantasy option this afternoon. Gomes is batting just .131 over the last four weeks and is hitting .136 versus righties this season, so he should be avoided as well. Naquin is batting .300 with four home runs and 10 RBI in 100 at-bats and is worth considering as a value play for daily lineups.

Indians | Yan Gomes sitting vs. White Sox

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 12:38:53 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 17. C Chris Gimenez is starting behind the plate and batting sixth against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Gomes has a respectable seven home runs and 27 RBI, but his .167/.204/.339 slash line is incredibly disappointing. He is a low-end catcher option in deep mixed leagues, albeit one with some nice power upside. Gimenez is nothing more than a desperation fantasy option.

Indians | Yan Gomes expected back Sunday

Sat, 11 Jun 2016 22:54:14 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes (groin) has not started the past two games, but he is expected to return to the starting lineup Sunday, June 12, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He has missed two games due to a testicle contusion.

Fantasy Tip: Gomes has struggled mightily with a .176/.213/.365 slash line, but he does provide a little bit of pop. He remains more of a No. 2 fantasy option in deeper AL-only leagues until he picks up the pace in the average department.

Indians | Yan Gomes sitting

Sat, 11 Jun 2016 16:20:57 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes is out of the lineup Saturday, June 11, with C Chris Gimenez hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Gomes has struggled all season with the average, and he's not in imminent danger of losing his job to the light-hitting Gimenez. However, Gimenez has started four of the last seven games. He's not worth using tonight against Matt Shoemaker.

Indians | Yan Gomes back behind the plate

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 15:52:46 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes (groin) is back in the starting lineup and is hitting eighth against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Hector Santiago Friday, June 10.

Fantasy Tip: Gomes sports an unimpressive .176/.213/.365 slash line but has seven home runs and 27 RBI in 2016. The power is nice for a catcher, but in most fantasy leagues he's a backup or a No. 2 catcher in two-catcher or AL-only leagues. You may want to keep him benched for another game or two after he took a foul ball to his groin area earlier this week.
