White Sox | Tyler Saladino to start at shortstop

Sat, 30 Jan 2016 11:19:29 -0800

Chicago White Sox SS Tyler Saladino is expected to be the team's starting shortstop in 2016, assuming that no additional offseason moves are made.

Fantasy Tip: Saladino played in 11 games at shortstop last season, receiving seven starts. The 26-year-old hit just .225 with four home runs, 20 RBIs and eight steals in 68 games overall, while seeing most of his action at the hot corner. Saladino should only be viewed as infield depth in AL-only and cavernous mixed leagues.

White Sox | Mike Olt not starting Tuesday

Tue, 22 Sep 2015 12:11:27 -0700

Chicago White Sox 3B Mike Olt is out of the starting lineup Tuesday, Sept. 22, against the Detroit Tigers. 3B Tyler Saladino is batting ninth against Tigers SP Daniel Norris.

Fantasy Tip: Olt ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is hitting .204 in September and only .200 against lefty pitching. Saladino ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) isn't much better with a .216 average against the left, but he has some success with extra-base hits so he may be worth a low-cost flier.

White Sox | Group of ChiSox regulars out for Game 2

Mon, 21 Sep 2015 14:02:43 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Adam Eaton, SS Alexei Ramirez, OF Melky Cabrera and C Tyler Flowers are all out of the lineup for Game 2 of a doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers Monday, Sept. 21. 3B Tyler Saladino is starting at the 6 and hitting second, OF Trayce Thompson is starting in left field and batting cleanup, C Rob Brantly is catching and hitting eighth, and OF Leury Garcia is in center field and batting ninth against Detroit Tigers SP Randy Wolf.

Fantasy Tip: Against the hittable Randy Wolf tonight, several White Sox players are worth stacking on FantasyScore, but only Thompson ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) should really excite you of this bunch as a deep sleeper on FantasyScore. Hitting cleanup certainly gives him a better chance to drive in runs, too.

White Sox | No Alexei Ramirez vs. Oakland

Wed, 16 Sep 2015 15:27:10 -0700

Chicago White Sox SS Alexei Ramirez is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Sept. 16. 3B Tyler Saladino is starting at shortstop and batting ninth against Oakland Athletics SP Cody Martin Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Ramirez ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) in all fantasy formats Wednesday. He has a .327/.411/.490 slash line in September, and he stands to finish the season strong. Saladino ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has a .613 OPS, and he is nothing more than a low-priced flier at FantasyScore Wednesday, and you should likely aim higher.

White Sox | Alexei Ramirez out of the lineup

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 11:01:53 -0700

Chicago White Sox SS Alexei Ramirez is not in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Kyle Gibson Sunday, Sept. 13. 3B Tyler Saladino will start at shortstop and is batting second in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) likely is receiving a day off Sunday. Saladino ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is hitting .286 with four RBI this month and could be a cheaper option for owners to consider.

White Sox | Tyler Saladino moved up the lineup

Wed, 09 Sep 2015 14:57:49 -0700

Chicago White Sox 3B Tyler Saladino is batting second and SS Alexei Ramirez is batting seventh against Cleveland Indians SP Josh Tomlin Wednesday, Sept. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Saladino ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) grabs a slight value boost hitting higher in the order, but he still isn't anything more than a low-end FantasyScore option. He is hitting just .244 over his past 21 games, and he owns a lowly .583 OPS against righties. Ramirez ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has been scorching hot with a 1.025 OPS over his past 11 games, but his recent surge is built into his FantasyScore salary. He is a viable option Wednesday, but he isn't a lineup lock, either.

White Sox | Tyler Saladino on the bench

Sun, 06 Sep 2015 10:29:44 -0700

Chicago White Sox 3B Tyler Saladino is not in the starting lineup against Kansas City Royals SP Johnny Cueto. 3B Mike Olt will start at third base and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Saladino ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) probably is receiving a day off and should return soon. Olt recently joined the White Sox but should not be a fantasy option at this point.

White Sox | Tyler Saladino leading off vs. Twins

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 14:25:46 -0700

Chicago White Sox 3B Tyler Saladino is playing shortstop and batting first against Minnesota Twins SP Tommy Milone Wednesday, Sept. 2. SS Alexei Ramirez is not in the starting lineup Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Saladino ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is nothing more than a flier at FantasyScore Wednesday. He has an uninspiring .211/.295/.368 slash line against lefties this year with an underwhelming .511 OPS over his past 22 games. The lineup spot is intriguing, but his recent form makes him extremely risky. Gordon Beckham ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is also making his second consecutive start at third base, but he is nothing more than a dice roll in daily contests. At the same time, though, Beckham could have some late-season value in AL-only and cavernous mixed leagues.

White Sox | Tyler Saladino hitting second on Tuesday

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 13:47:08 -0700

Chicago White Sox 3B Tyler Saladino is hitting second for the second time in three days. Saladino is up against Detroit Tigers SP Justin Verlander.

Fantasy Tip: Saladino ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) may be batting second to rejuvenate his bat. Most of his action (.245-3-14) comes from the second spot in the lineup, so if you're looking for a low-cost third baseman on FantasyScore he is a decent option.

White Sox | Tyler Saladino draws out vs. Red Sox

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 15:44:51 -0700

Chicago White Sox 3B Tyler Saladino is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Aug. 25. 2B Gordon Beckham is starting at third base and batting ninth against Boston Red Sox SP Wade Miley Tuesday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Saladino ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) in all fantasy formats Tuesday. He is batting just .230 with a .546 OPS in August, so his four stolen bases are his biggest fantasy return of late. You'll want to aim higher in the majority of fantasy formats. FantasyScore players should view Beckham ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) as a risky start Tuesday. After all, he is batting just .188 this season.
