New England Patriots RB Jonas Gray was the team's "inside" runner behind RB Shane Vereen in Week 7 against the New York Jets Thursday, Oct. 16, but Gray only had three carries on the night.
Fantasy Tip: It was even more of a surprise that Brandon Bolden had just one catch and no carries in the game. It just goes to show that predicting who the No. 2 back will be behind Vereen on a weekly basis will likely be a crapshoot.

New England Patriots RB Jonas Gray will be active tonight and is currently listed ahead of James White on the team's depth chart. White is inactive for the contest.
Fantasy Tip: It's unclear exactly how the New England running backs will be utilized with Stevan Ridley out for the year, but Shane Vereen and Brandon Bolden figure to see most of the work out of the backfield tonight.

New England Patriots RB Jonas Gray has been promoted from the practice squad to the active roster Thursday, Oct. 16.

New England Patriots RB Brandon Bolden was the fill-in for RB Stevan Ridley (knee) in Week 6 as the "big back." Bolden has been a core special teams player this year, and something will have to give if he's to start being more of a factor at running back with Ridley out for the year. RB Jonas Gray could be promoted from the practice squad.
Fantasy Tip: Shane Vereen and James Wright will immediately be thrust into heavier workloads with Ridley out, but Bolden could be the surprise back in short-yardage and goal-line situations, which would give him some flex appeal in fantasy leagues. Make sure to consider adding Bolden off the waiver wire this week if you own Ridley or need help at running back.

New England Patriots RB James White may put RB Brandon Bolden on the bubble for a roster spot, according to a source. RB Roy Finch and TE Justin Jones could also make the team as undrafted rookies, while either RBs Stephen Houston or Jonas Gray could make the team in RB LeGarrette Blount's previous role.
Fantasy Tip: None of these guys are fantasy relevant yet. We'll see if they actually make the final roster before gauging their fantasy value.

Miami Dolphins RBs Mike Gillislee and Jonas Gray are believed to be competing for the No. 3 running back job. The team likely will try to sign the loser of the competition to their practice squad.
Sat, 10 Aug 2013 08:48:07 -0700
Miami Dolphins RB Mike Gillislee is the leading candidate for the No. 3 running back job but is being pushed by RB Jonas Gray for the job. Gillislee rushed for 37 yards on 12 carries in the team's preseason game Friday, Aug. 9, while Gray rushed for 32 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. Gray is showing he could be a valuable short-yardage and goal line running back.

Miami Dolphins RB Jonas Gray (knee) spent last season on the team's Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list while recovering from a serious knee injury in college. The team kept him around, and now he is getting his chance to shine. He had seven carries for 41 yards in the team's first preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Fantasy Tip: Gray likely will need a long-term injury to Lamar Miller, Daniel Thomas or Mike Gillislee to crack the roster, as the team is pretty well stocked at running back. However, he could be auditioning for a roster spot on another club, too.

Miami Dolphins RBs Mike Gillislee and Jonas Gray (knee) appear set to do battle for the No. 3 running back job behind RBs Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas. "We feel very good about (Gray) coming off the knee. Then (rookie) Mike Gillislee. There's youth at the position," general manager Jeff Ireland said. "There's special teams value there. We feel very good about their skill set. Obviously, we need to see them play a little more and solidify the position."

Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller has a leg up on the competition to start at running back in 2013 although Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin considers the competition wide open, and Daniel Thomas, Mike Gillislee, Jonas Gray and Marcus Thigpen also are all competing for the starting job.
Fantasy Tip: This is a battle that will likely play out through training camp and preseason games. Keep an eye on how the running backs are used in training camp and preseason. Also, Joe Philbin used a running back by committee approach in 2012, which hurt the value of all involved.
