Patriots | Travaris Cadet signs with Patriots

Tue, 17 Mar 2015 14:33:31 -0700

Free-agent RB Travaris Cadet (Saints) has signed with the New England Patriots Tuesday, March 17. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Cadet figures to take over the role Shane Vereen held in New England, meaning most of his work will be done in passing situations. Cadet will have added value in point-per-reception leagues, with LeGarrette Blount likely receiving most of the work on running downs.

Saints | Three RBs on Saints' roster

Wed, 04 Mar 2015 16:29:11 -0800

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Pierre Thomas' (Saints) release by the New Orleans Saints Wednesday, March 4, will save $1.735 million against the salary cap, and he carries an $830,000 "dead money" charge. Thomas would have counted $2.565 million against the salary cap this year. The Saints currently have three running backs on roster: RBs Khiry Robinson, Edwin Baker and Tim Hightower. RBs Travaris Cadet and Mark Ingram are both scheduled to be free agents.

Fantasy Tip: The release of PT cruiser isn't unexpected, since his role had quickly diminished over the last couple of seasons. If Ingram isn't re-signed, Robinson will have a clear path to the lead-back duties in New Orleans. And in an offense as potent as this, that'll make him very intriguing to fantasy football owners. Robinson could head into 2015 as a low-end RB1.

Saints | Travaris Cadet listed as probable

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 14:22:21 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Travaris Cadet (hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 5, and is listed as probable for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Cadet should receive some touches during the game but will be behind Mark Ingram and Pierre Thomas on the depth chart. Cadet costs $3,000 on FantasyScore, but owners should be able to find a better option.

Saints | New Orleans RBs practice

Thu, 04 Dec 2014 15:07:18 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (ankle, toe) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 4. RBs Khiry Robinson (forearm) and Travaris Cadet (hamstring) participated fully.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram ($6,800, 13.6%) should still get the majority of work out of the backfield with Pierre Thomas ($5,500, 11%) and Cadet likely being used mostly on passing downs. Robinson's usage may be limited after his prolonged absence, so it's best to stay away from him this week. Ingram and Thomas are the best bets for success against a subpar Carolina Panthers run defense.

Saints | Saints' top three RBs back on the field

Thu, 27 Nov 2014 13:59:50 -0800

New Orleans Saints RBs Mark Ingram (shoulder), RB Pierre Thomas (rib, shoulder) and RB Travaris Cadet (hamstring) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram likely will receive most of his work in the running game in Week 13 while Thomas probably will be used more in the passing game. Cadet will also see some playing time. Ingram ($6,600) and Thomas ($5,200) are options on FantasyScore, but owners may want to lower their expectations since the Pittsburgh Steelers defense has recently played well against opposing running backs.

Saints | Saints' top three RBs practice

Wed, 26 Nov 2014 15:10:14 -0800

New Orleans Saints RBs Mark Ingram (shoulder), Pierre Thomas (rib, shoulder) and Travaris Cadet (hamstring) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram probably will continue to receive a majority of the carries with Thomas being more involved in the passing game. Cadet probably will receive time if one of the other running backs needs a break. Ingram costs $6,600 on FantasyScore, but owners may want to lower their expectations since the Pittsburgh Steelers have held opposing running backs in check over the last four weeks. Thomas costs $5,200 and could be a flex option because of his receiving ability. Owners should not consider using Cadet even though he only costs $3,200.

Saints | Travaris Cadet probable for Monday

Sat, 22 Nov 2014 11:58:05 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Travaris Cadet (hamstring) is probable for Monday night's game against the Baltimore Ravens after being limited in practice Saturday, Nov. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Mark Ingram and Pierre Thomas will also be in the mix, taking away value from Cadet. However, Cadet should still have a role in the passing game and is dirt cheap on FantasyScore at $3,200.

Saints | Pierre Thomas, Travaris Cadet limited

Fri, 21 Nov 2014 13:24:23 -0800

New Orleans Saints RBs Pierre Thomas (rib, shoulder) and Travaris Cadet (hamstring) were both limited in practice Friday, Nov. 21. Cadet did not practice Thursday, Nov. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas ($5,200) is the more expensive FantasyScore option, while Cadet costs just $3,200. Both players will likely be questionable for Monday night's tilt with the Baltimore Ravens, meaning it's probably safer to just avoid both.
