Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch won't be ready

Mon, 21 Dec 2015 16:17:47 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (hernia) is making good progress but will not return to practice this week and won't be ready to play in Week 16 against the St. Louis Rams, according to head coach Pete Carroll. The Seahawks haven't set a timetable for when Lynch might return, and Seattle hopes he can help them in January for the playoffs. RBs Christine Michael and Bryce Brown will continue sharing in the backfield with Lynch out.

Fantasy Tip: It's unlikely that Lynch will play again in the regular season, and Seattle will likely hold him out so that he can be healthy for the playoffs. Michael should be your first target off the waiver wire for championship tilts this week, and both he and Brown could be effective in flex spots on FantasyScore against the Rams.

Seahawks | Two Seattle RBs to work with starters

Mon, 21 Dec 2015 16:15:30 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RBs Christine Michael and Bryce Brown will both receive time with the first-team offense during practice this week, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Fantasy Tip: Michael and Brown both received carries during the team's Week 15 game and had success on the ground. Michael rushed for 84 yards on 16 carries, while Brown rushed for 43 yards on nine carries. Owners should monitor the situation during the week to see if one of the players will receive a majority of the carries. Michael may have a little more value, but both could be decent fantasy options.

Seahawks | Seattle backfield a mystery

Fri, 18 Dec 2015 16:44:37 -0800

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll admitted that no starting running back has been named for Week 15 against the Cleveland Browns, and that everyone will find out come game time. RBs Bryce Brown, Christine Michael and Fred Jackson will all play in some capacity, and Carroll admitted that Brown and Michael are up to speed on the playbook. Even FB Derrick Coleman could see some work.

Fantasy Tip: Carroll and the Seahawks may go with a hot-hand approach at running back on Sunday once they see who is looking the best in the backfield. That's a huge red flag for fantasy owners, and staying away from the situation entirely is probably your best bet. If you're risking it all, Brown is probably the best gamble. Just remember, we warned you.

Seahawks | Trio to split RB workload in Seattle

Thu, 17 Dec 2015 06:00:44 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Bryce Brown and RB Christine Michael are expected to share the early down carries in Week 15 with RB Fred Jackson in on third downs, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Sheil Kapadia.

Fantasy Tip: Honestly, this situation sounds too muddy to rely on anyone against the Cleveland Browns on FantasyScore. Brown or Michael could be shots in the dark in traditional formats. However, if you're in the fantasy playoffs, you're probably not considering such a bold move.

Seahawks | Fred Jackson will be third-down back

Mon, 14 Dec 2015 15:36:24 -0800

Seattle Seahawks RB Fred Jackson will continue to be the team's third-down back, according to head coach Pete Carroll. RBs DuJuan Harris and Bryce Brown are candidates to fill RB Thomas Rawls' (ankle) role in the running game.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson probably will continue to see limited playing time and should still be involved in the passing game. Harris is probably the most attractive option for fantasy owners at this point and could be an option this week because of his favorable matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

Seahawks | Bryce Brown back with Seattle

Mon, 14 Dec 2015 09:59:52 -0800

The Seattle Seahawks re-signed RB Bryce Brown to an undisclosed deal Monday, Dec. 14, after the injury to RB Thomas Rawls (ankle), according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: With no timetable for Marshawn Lynch's return, DuJuan Harris and Fred Jackson will likely split backfield duties with Rawls done for the year. Harris had more carries in Rawls' absence yesterday and should be the preferred option over Jackson, but neither are tempting outside of desperate owners in deeper leagues. The Seahawks have become a pass-first club without Lynch.

Bills | Karlos Williams day-to-day

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 09:20:48 -0700

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB Karlos Williams (concussion) is listed as day-to-day and must be cleared from the NFL-mandated concussion protocol before he can play in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans. The Bills would have to turn to RBs Anthony Dixon and Cierre Wood if both Williams and RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) cannot play this weekend. General manager Doug Whaley said the team could sign another runner this week, and they could re-sign RB Bryce Brown, who was released last month.

Fantasy Tip: We probably won't know until much later this week if Williams ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) will be cleared to play this weekend. He's a big risk on FantasyScore now, and McCoy isn't expected to play, either. If Williams can't suit up, Dixon ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is worth a look as a deep sleeper in a flex spot.

Bills | Bryce Brown inactive for Week 1

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 08:39:42 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown has been declared inactive for the team's Week 1 game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: Anthony Dixon ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Karlos Williams ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will be the backups to LeSean McCoy in Week 1, but neither likely will receive a lot of snaps during the game. Both probably will not have much fantasy value this season unless McCoy misses games.

Bills | Bryce Brown to see some action

Wed, 09 Sep 2015 07:21:41 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown is expected to see a good chunk of action in Week 1, in the opinion of FOXSports.com's Alex Marvez.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) could see some running room against the Indianapolis Colts after they lost run-stopper Arthur Jones (ankle). He's worth consideration of a flyer on FantasyScore.

Bills | Concern LeSean McCoy won't be ready?

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 09:32:19 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) seems to be in some danger of missing the season opener Sept. 13. "Well we certainly expect him to be ready to go, I hope," coach Rex Ryan said Monday, Aug. 31. "If not then the next man has to step up. Boobie (Anthony Dixon) got a lot of reps out there today. Bryce Brown got a lot of reps today. So we will see. I am not going to put that all on one man. If he is not ready to go, he won't be in there."

Fantasy Tip: Keep an eye on the situation if you're a McCoy owner, obviously. However, this also means that Dixon and/or Brown could be excellent one-week plays in traditional leagues and FantasyScore.

Bills | Buffalo players out for Saturday?

Thu, 27 Aug 2015 15:19:26 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (hip) is not expected to play Saturday, Aug. 29, against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to head coach Rex Ryan. The statuses of WR Percy Harvin (hip) and RBs Bryce Brown (hamstring) and Anthony Dixon (calf) are uncertain.

Fantasy Tip: The Bills have had their fair share of injuries this offseason, especially on offense. Woods and Harvin are the more notable absences of the four. Harvin is a risky proposition in fantasy drafts this year considering his injury history. Woods is a less risky option and worth a look as a WR4 or WR5.

Bills | Bryce Brown injury update

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 13:17:00 -0700

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown (hamstring) left practice Sunday, Aug. 16, because of a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Tip: Brown performed well in the first preseason game, but he could take a backseat to Fred Jackson once Jackson is fully recovered. Brown will also compete with Anthony Dixon for the No. 2 and/or No. 3 running back position.

Bills | Karlos Williams could be No. 2 RB

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 05:18:00 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Karlos Williams has a legitimate shot to be the backup running back with RB Fred Jackson (hamstring) and RB Bryce Brown (hamstring) banged up. He has run decisively and been explosive with 63 total yards and a touchdown in the first preseason game.

Fantasy Tip: Williams is worth an RB5 flyer near the end of drafts.

Bills | Bryce Brown leaves practice

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 08:59:04 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown (undisclosed) left practice early Sunday, Aug. 16, because of an undisclosed injury.

Fantasy Tip: It is not known if Brown is dealing with a serious injury, so owners should monitor the situation. Brown is competing for a roster spot and probably will not have a big role in the team. Owners can pass on Brown during fantasy drafts.

Bills | Coach looking for Bryce Brown to improve

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 12:24:26 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown needs to improve his ball security in the near future, according to running backs coach Anthony Lynn. "To be honest with you," Lynn said, "I haven't seen as much improvement as I was hoping to see. Right now, over his career, he's putting the ball on the ground every 56 touches. Whereas, LeSean is putting it on the ground every 125 touches. So I want to see more progress and I want to see it quickly." Lynn said Brown has the qualities to be a solid running back if he can stop his fumbling issues.

Fantasy Tip: Brown is competing for a roster spot and likely will need a solid performance during the preseason if he wants to make the final roster. He is behind several people on the depth chart and probably can be passed over during fantasy drafts.

Bills | Bryce Brown fumbling away job?

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 20:39:29 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown lost fumbles in consecutive practices Friday, Aug. 7, and Saturday, Aug. 8, to slip behind RB Karlos Williams on the depth chart. With RBs LeSean McCoy, Fred Jackson and Anthony Dixon on the roster, it might be between Williams and Brown for a roster spot.

Fantasy Tip: Brown could be fumbling away his chances at a job. As far as fantasy purposes are concerned, Brown has done nothing to earn considered in most drafts.

Bills | Bryce Brown behind other backs

Wed, 20 May 2015 17:08:54 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown isn't very well known by the team's running backs coach Anthony Lynn. "I don't know much about him at all," Lynn said of Brown. "I've only met him once," Lynn said Tuesday, May 19. Brown is away from the team while attending to a personal matter. Lynn said it will be difficult for Brown to make up the lost time. Including Brown, the Bills have five running backs on their roster, which further hurts Brown's chances.

Bills | C.J. Spiller unlikely to return in 2015?

Tue, 23 Dec 2014 17:21:41 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller has just a 30% chance to re-sign with the team as an unrestricted free agent during the offseason, according to Jay Skurski of the Buffalo News. "The writing was on the wall for Spiller the moment the Bills traded for running back Bryce Brown in May, and nothing that has happened this season makes it any more likely the team's 2010 first-round pick would return for a sixth season," Skurski wrote.

Fantasy Tip: If Spiller does sign elsewhere in the offseason, Brown becomes a nice upside pick to target in drafts. Fred Jackson is still under contract for another year, but he is already on the older end of the spectrum when it comes to running backs.

Mon, 17 Nov 2014 11:46:56 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB Anthony Dixon played 33 offensive snaps in the team's Week 11 game, while RB Bryce Brown received 28 offensive snaps.

Fantasy Tip: Dixon rushed for 35 yards in the game, while Brown rushed for 14 yards, but he also caught seven passes for 57 yards. Fred Jackson is expected to return in Week 12 and may receive a majority of the work. Jackson probably will have the most fantasy value in Week 12.

Bills | Bryce Brown starting Thursday

Thu, 13 Nov 2014 16:20:33 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown will get the start at running back Thursday, Nov. 13, with RB Fred Jackson (groin) out.

Fantasy Tip: Brown is a relatively cheap option at $4,000 on FantasyScore, though the matchup with the Miami Dolphins isn't the most favorable and Anthony Dixon will also be getting repetitions.

Bills | Anthony Dixon working with starters

Wed, 22 Oct 2014 10:53:40 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Anthony Dixon is working with the starters in practice Wednesday, Oct. 22. RB Bryce Brown is working with the second-string offense.

Fantasy Tip: Dixon could be a nice flex option in FantasyScore this week, where he will cost $3,600 (7.2% of cap).

Bills | Anthony Dixon likely the guy

Wed, 22 Oct 2014 07:26:17 -0700

The Buffalo Bills love RB Anthony Dixon, and he's likely to lead the way at running back over RB Bryce Brown.

Fantasy Tip: Dixon ($3,600; 7.2% of your cap) is a great flex option on FantasyScore that will allow you to load up on other positions. Brown ($3,400; 6.8%) isn't worth using this weekend without a concrete role.

Bills | Bryce Brown could be activated

Sun, 19 Oct 2014 15:50:52 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown was inactive for the seventh time this season in Week 7 against the Minnesota Vikings. However, with injuries to RBs Fred Jackson (groin) and C.J. Spiller (collarbone), head coach Doug Marrone said Sunday, Oct. 19, that he would "have no problem bringing up Bryce."

Fantasy Tip: Brown is worth keeping an eye on. He had some success in the past in a stop in Philadelphia, and he could see touches behind Anthony Dixon going forward if Spiller and Jackson miss time.

Bills | Bryce Brown not in immediate plans

Thu, 16 Oct 2014 13:44:02 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Bryce Brown expected to be used a lot more than he has been when he was traded to the team in the offseason, and head coach Doug Marrone has no urgency to get him on the field anytime soon. "He's here for a while. I'm not concerned about (getting him on the field soon)," Marrone said. Brown remains on the scout team in practice.

Fantasy Tip: Despite this news, keep Brown on your radar in deeper leagues. C.J. Spiller played a season-low 12 snaps last week, and he could be on the trade block very soon. If Spiller is dealt, Brown should see a large increase in playing time.
