Astros | Carlos Correa likely headed for Lancaster

Wed, 29 Jan 2014 20:19:46 -0800

Houston Astros SS Carlos Correa is likely to begin the season with Class A Advanced Lancaster, and might spend half of the season with Double-A Corpus Christi. "To play a full season of A ball at the age of 18 and have the success he's had is very unusual," general manager Jeff Luhnow said. "It suggests a bright future for him. Every decade or so, a really special player gets to the major leagues before he turns 21, and I think he has a chance to be that type of player."

Astros | Carlos Correa likely to begin at Single-A

Wed, 29 Jan 2014 17:26:16 -0800

Houston Astros SS Carlos Correa, the team's No. 1 rated prospect entering 2014, is likely to begin the year at Single-A Advanced Lancaster and could spend half the year at Double-A Corpus Christi. Correa is just 19 years old and led the Midwest League in OPS (.872), was second in on-base percentage (.405) and third in batting average (.320) in his first professional season in 2013.

Fantasy Tip: Correa is one of the most promising shortstop prospects at the moment, alongside Javier Baez and Francisco Lindor. If he shows his face in the bigs this year, it'll likely be as a September call-up. He should only be drafted in deep keeper leagues in 2014.
