Astros | Carlos Correa grabs Rookie of the Year

Mon, 16 Nov 2015 16:02:37 -0800

Houston Astros SS Carlos Correa received the American League Rookie of the Year Award Monday, Nov. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Correa exploded onto the scene in June and returned 52 runs, 22 home runs, 68 RBI and 14 stolen bases with a .279/.345/.512 slash line through 432 plate appearances. He is an elite offensive contributor at a shallow position, and he'll be worth considering as early as the first round in drafts this spring.

Astros | Carlos Correa makes history

Mon, 12 Oct 2015 14:39:51 -0700

Houston Astros SS Carlos Correa's 11 total bases during Game 4 of the American League Division Series Monday, Oct. 12, were the most by any shortstop in postseason history, and the second most by any player on a losing team ever in the playoffs.

Fantasy Tip: Correa ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) was just 3-for-17 without an extra-base hit through his first four playoff games, so his two-home run, 4-for-4 showing Monday was a nice boost for FantasyScore players. However, and while it doesn't count in fantasy terms, he made costly mistakes in the field. Still, entering Game 5, Correa is a strong option at shortstop for FantasyScore players.

Astros | Carlos Correa drives in four

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 05:07:48 -0700

Houston Astros SS Carlos Correa went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI and four runs scored against the Arizona Diamondbacks Friday, Oct. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Correa ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) has had a very successful rookie season and is hitting .360 with three home runs and nine RBI over the last seven days. Owners should consider him as a starting option for the final two games of the regular season.

Astros | Carlos Correa hits two homers

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 00:07:01 -0700

Houston Astros SS Carlos Correa hit two home runs Saturday, Sept. 26, as the Astros defeated the Texas Rangers 9-7. Correa's pair of homers were among six hit by the team.

Fantasy Tip: Correa ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) has a .282 average and a .520 slugging percentage after his latest multi-hit showcase. His price is still low enough to make him a viable FantasyScore option every time out.

Angels | Jered Weaver falls to defeat

Tue, 22 Sep 2015 04:38:54 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Jered Weaver lasted 5 2-3 innings against the Houston Astros, giving up five runs and nine hits. Weaver also surrendered homers to C Evan Gattis and SS Carlos Correa in the 6-3 loss Monday, Sept. 21. Weaver struck out five and walked two.

Fantasy Tip: Weaver ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) had been 2-0 with a 1.71 ERA at home against the Astros, so chalk this start up to facing Astros SP Dallas Keuchel and his unbeaten home record.

Astros | Carlos Correa homers in return

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 21:59:53 -0700

Houston Astros SS Carlos Correa (hamstring) returned to the lineup Monday, Aug. 31, against the Seattle Mariners. He had a two-run home run, finishing 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.

Fantasy Tip: Correa ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) appears to be fine after his four-game absence and it is safe to use him in FantasyScore again.

Astros | Carlos Correa returns to face Seattle

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 14:04:02 -0700

Houston Astros SS Carlos Correa (hamstring) is starting at shortstop and batting third against Seattle Mariners SP Vidal Nuno Monday, Aug. 31. OF Colby Rasmus is not in the starting lineup Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Return Correa ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) to all your seasonal lineups, but he might not be the slam-dunk FantasyScore play he has usually been Monday. He has missed the past four games, so Correa may need a game or two to shake off the rust. View him as a high-risk, high-reward play in daily contests with a prime matchup Monday.

Astros | Carlos Correa remains out of the lineup

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 08:41:12 -0700

Updating a previous report, Houston Astros SS Carlos Correa (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup Sunday, Aug. 30. SS Marwin Gonzalez is starting at shortstop and batting second against Minnesota Twins SP Ervin Santana Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Continue to remain patient with Correa ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) in seasonal leagues, and avoid him at FantasyScore until he returns, which is expected to be sooner than later. Gonzalez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) stands as a viable value play in daily contests Sunday. He is batting .300 over 34 games since the All-Star break.

Astros | Carlos Correa questionable vs. Twins

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 05:50:06 -0700

Houston Astros SS Carlos Correa (hamstring) will not play against the Minnesota Twins Sunday, Aug. 20, unless he is 100% healthy, according to manager A.J. Hinch. "It's a pretty simple decision. If there's sensitivity in there and he's showing any signs of discomfort, it's a no. No different than parenting."

Fantasy Tip: You'll want to check back for an official word on Correa ($5,200, 10.4% of cap), but it wouldn't be shocking to see him return Sunday. Still, he might not be the safest play at FantasyScore after missing time. The rookie has hit a bit of a road bump in August, too. He sports a .238/.354/.440 slash line, but the power has remained with five long flies and 14 RBI. Continue to view Correa as a high-end shortstop in all fantasy formats.

Astros | Carlos Correa not in the lineup

Sat, 29 Aug 2015 14:29:48 -0700

Houston Astros SS Carlos Correa (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Mike Pelfrey Saturday, Aug. 29. SS Marwin Gonzalez will start at shortstop and is batting second, while OF Jake Marisnick is starting in left field and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor Correa's ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) status to see when he may be able to return to the lineup. Gonzalez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) and Marisnick ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) could be cheaper options for owners on FantasyScore.
