Blue Jays | Marcus Stroman rocked in loss

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 17:00:47 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Marcus Stroman allowed seven runs on 10 hits while striking out four over 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Baltimore Orioles Sunday, June 19.

Fantasy Tip: Stroman's ERA has ballooned to 5.23. Don't give up on him just yet, but you may want to pick and choose when you start him until he finds his form.

Blue Jays | Marcus Stroman bounces back

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 17:48:16 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Marcus Stroman allowed two runs on six hits in seven innings against the Philadelphia Phillies Tuesday, June 14, to pick up his sixth win of the season. He struck out six batters and walked one during the game. Stroman had a 7.58 ERA in his previous five games before the start against the Phillies.

Fantasy Tip: Stroman has allowed at least four runs in five of his last seven starts but appears to have turned things around after his start Tuesday. He will have a tough matchup against the Baltimore Orioles in his next start but is still a fine starting option in most leagues.

Blue Jays | Marcus Stroman knocked around again

Sat, 04 Jun 2016 17:30:43 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Marcus Stroman allowed six runs on nine hits while walking five and striking out four over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Boston Red Sox Saturday, June 4, and he has allowed at least six runs in three of his last four starts.

Fantasy Tip: To be fair, two of Stroman's poor outings have come against Boston's potent lineup. Continue to hold on to him in all formats, but you may want to stay away in DFS play until he is back on track.

Blue Jays | Marcus Stroman to start Saturday

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 18:17:24 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Marcus Stroman will face the Boston Red Sox Saturday, June 4. He had been previously scheduled to pitch Friday, June 3.

Fantasy Tip: It is unknown why Stroman was pushed back one day in the rotation. He is 5-1 with a 4.46 ERA through 11 starts this year but should be viewed as a somewhat risky play in DFS Saturday because the Red Sox lead the majors in batting average by a wide margin.

Blue Jays | Marcus Stroman knocked around Saturday

Sat, 28 May 2016 14:30:33 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Marcus Stroman was roughed up by the Boston Red Sox for the second time in as many starts against this season on Saturday, May 28, giving up a season-high tying seven runs on 11 hits over 5 1/3 innings. Stroman was also tagged for five runs in 5 1/3 frames versus Boston in his second start of the season on April 8.

Fantasy Tip: The Red Sox have made a lot of pitchers look bad in 2016, but the bigger concern here is that Stroman has surrendered 14 runs and 24 hits over across 11 innings over his last two home starts. Considering his next two outings are slated to come in Boston and Detroit, it might be worth sitting the 25-year-old Toronto ace for his next two turns.

Blue Jays | Marcus Stroman allows seven runs

Tue, 17 May 2016 21:39:20 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Marcus Stroman allowed seven runs on 13 hits in 5 2/3 innings against the Tampa Bay Rays Tuesday, May 17, to suffer his first loss of the season. He struck out two batters and walked two in the game.

Fantasy Tip: Stroman had his first bad outing of the month Tuesday after allowing only five earned runs in his previous three starts. He is scheduled to face the Minnesota Twins in his next starting and should be an attractive option in most fantasy leagues.

Rays | Desmond Jennings out Tuesday

Tue, 17 May 2016 13:28:08 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Desmond Jennings is not in the lineup Tuesday, May 17. OF Brandon Guyer is leading off against Toronto Blue Jays SP Marcus Stroman.

Fantasy Tip: This has not been a good season at all for Jennings, who is hitting .190 (4-for-21) this month and .188 against American League pitching. Guyer's bat is too hot to keep out of the lineup. He has eight hits in his last five games, including a pair of two-hit contests and a three-hit outing. Guyer carries solid fantasy value in the leadoff spot as well. Jennings has little value until his bat turns around.

Rays | Steve Pearce batting fourth Tuesday

Tue, 17 May 2016 12:50:37 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Steve Pearce is hitting fourth in the lineup Tuesday, May 17, against Toronto Blue Jays SP Marcus Stroman.

Fantasy Tip: Pearce is on a tear at the plate, and the team is taking advantage of it. Pearce is .318-3-7 in the past week, but in the No. 4 spot he is 14-for-40 (.350) with five home runs and 12 runs batted in for the entire season. For whatever reason, Pearce's power numbers spike in this role, and as long as the team considers him a cleanup threat then you should add him onto your roster.

Blue Jays | Marcus Stroman hurls quality start

Fri, 06 May 2016 19:26:44 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Marcus Stroman allowed two runs on eight hits over seven innings in a no-decision against the Los Angeles Dodgers Friday, May 6, with two walks and eight strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Stroman has struck out 17 batters over his last two outings and has tossed quality starts in five of his seven appearances this year. He is a solid option in all fantasy formats and will make his next start against the San Francisco Giants Wednesday, May 11.

Blue Jays | Marcus Stroman baffles Rays again

Sun, 01 May 2016 13:20:39 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Marcus Stroman allowed one run on three hits and a pair of walks while striking out a career-high nine over eight frames in a win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday, May 1.

Fantasy Tip: Two of Stroman's four victories during his undefeated start this season have come at the expense of the Rays, who he handled on Opening Day. The 25-year-old phenom has worked at least seven innings and yielded three or fewer runs in four of his six outings this season, so continue to trust him for fantasy purposes in his next scheduled start Friday at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
