Mets | Kevin Plawecki to start regularly?

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 22:01:33 -0700

New York Mets C Kevin Plawecki might serve as the primary catcher if C Travis d'Arnaud (shoulder) is forced to miss time.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud left with a sore shoulder could be sidelined. If so, Plawecki would start regularly and would be a decent No. 2 fantasy option in NL-only leagues and a DFS value play.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud set for shoulder exam

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 22:00:43 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (shoulder) left the game Monday, April 25, against the Cincinnati Reds due to shoulder soreness. If he needs a stint on the 15-day disabled list, C Kevin Plawecki would be the regular backstop with C Rene Rivera coming up from Class AAA Las Vegas to serve as the backup.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud should be avoided in all NL-only fantasy leagues and DFS play until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks.

Mets | David Wright, Travis d'Arnaud out

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 09:18:24 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright and C Travis d'Arnaud are not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Aaron Blair Sunday, April 24. INF Wilmer Flores will play the hot corner and bat sixth, while C Kevin Plawecki will bat seventh and start behind the plate.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure Wright and d'Arnaud are removed from all fantasy lineups Sunday. Both Flores and Plawecki should be viewed as inexpensive flier options for daily contests.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud remains sidelined

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 11:58:27 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) remains out of the starting lineup Monday, April 18. C Kevin Plawecki is behind the plate again and is batting eighth against Philadelphia Phillies SP Jerad Eickhoff.

Fantasy Tip: d'Arnaud remains day-to-day after being hit by a pitch over the weekend. His cold start (.120/.267/.160) is another reason to keep him benched for now. Plawecki has some surprising pop but remains more of a low-end cheap catcher flyer to save salary cap space tonight in daily formats.

Mets | Kevin Plawecki batting ninth

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 07:28:34 -0700

New York Mets C Kevin Plawecki is starting behind the plate and batting ninth against Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber Sunday, April 17. C Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) is not in the starting lineup Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: d'Arnaud is expected to miss a few games with an elbow contusion, so Plawecki will have a fleeting boost of fantasy value. Plawecki owns a .218/.284/.294 slash line through 265 career plate appearances, though, so he is a low-end option in all formats. You'll want to steer clear against Kluber in daily contests Sunday, too.

Mets | Lucas Duda takes a seat

Wed, 13 Apr 2016 07:48:28 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda is out of the lineup Wednesday, April 13, with SS Wilmer Flores playing first and hitting fifth. 2B Neil Walker moves up into Duda's cleanup spot. C Travis d'Arnaud also has the day off, and C Kevin Plawecki is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Duda is out against lefty Adam Conley, and Walker has enhanced DFS value at cleanup. Flores is an iffy DFS option, but his place in the lineup makes him a consideration for a basement play. Plawecki isn't a strong fantasy consideration.

Mets | Kevin Plawecki catching Sunday

Sun, 10 Apr 2016 07:56:04 -0700

New York Mets C Kevin Plawecki is batting eighth against Philadelphia Phillies SP Jeremy Hellickson Sunday, April 10. C Travis d'Arnaud is being given the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Plawecki is receiving the start because the team is playing a day game following a night game. He hit .219 with three home runs and 21 RBIs during his rookie season last year, including just .192 after the All-Star break, and is not a recommended fantasy option.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud may play some OF

Wed, 17 Feb 2016 10:17:10 -0800

New York Mets Cs Travis d'Arnaud and Kevin Plawecki will both remain catchers, but they are being moved around this spring. Both will be exposed to first base, and d'Arnaud may also see some time in the outfield.

Fantasy Tip: Don't read too much into this. The Mets are just trying to keep their options open. Don't expect d'Arnaud or Plawecki to play enough elsewhere to add eligibitlity at another position, either. Injuries have defined d'Arnaud's career, but his power is elite at his position if healthy. Plawecki should only be targeted in NL-only formats.

Mets | Kevin Plawecki had sinus surgery

Tue, 09 Feb 2016 09:05:55 -0800

New York Mets C Kevin Plawecki (sinus) said he had sinus surgery in December, and he thinks it will fix the issues he had last year related to dizziness, especially during flights.

Fantasy Tip: Plawecki hit only .219 with three home runs in 233 at-bats for the Mets last year as Travis d'Arnaud's main backup. Plawecki is a depth piece in NL-only leagues, but his fantasy value could rise if the injury-prone d'Arnaud misses anymore time due to injury.

Mets | Two Mets catchers to test other positions

Wed, 03 Feb 2016 10:40:03 -0800

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud and C Kevin Plawecki will play other positions to be determined in spring training.

Fantasy Tip: d'Arnaud's power makes him a midrange catcher option in fantasy.
