Updating previous reports, Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon will not be allowed at the team's facility during his one-year suspension. The team hoped they would be able to work with him during the suspension.

Wed, 27 Aug 2014 09:51:35 -0700
Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon will not be allowed to file for reinstatement during his one-year suspension, according to a source. His representatives will look for other alternatives in this case.
Fantasy Tip: It appears Gordon may have to sit out training camp next season because of the suspension, but that has not been determined at this point. If he is not able to take part in camp, Gordon likely will drop a few spots in the 2015 rankings. Owners can consider holding onto Gordon this season since he probably will try to get reinstated.

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon will be suspended for the 2014 season after his appeal of the suspension was denied, according to a source.
Fantasy Tip: Owners can drop Gordon off their draft boards because of this decision, and owners that have already drafted him can drop him for another player. Gordon could miss training camp next season, which likely will hurt his 2015 fantasy value as well.
Wed, 27 Aug 2014 09:17:30 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon may hear the ruling on the appeal of his impending suspension at some point Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Fantasy Tip: Owners will be very interested in the ruling, because Gordon could one of the top wide receivers if he is not suspended. Gordon could be a mid- to late-round pick if he receives something like an eight-game suspension. He will not have any value if he is suspended for the 2014 season.
Tue, 26 Aug 2014 10:13:27 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon's hearing for a drunken-driving charge has been rescheduled for November. He was originally scheduled to appear in court Tuesday, Aug. 26. He was arrested July 5 after being pulled over for going 50 mph in a 35 mph zone. Gordon is also still waiting to hear from the league on whether he'll be suspended for all or part of this year for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
Fantasy Tip: We all thought Gordon's suspension would be announced by the NFL sometime last week. He's expected to be suspended, but half a season sitting out compared to a full one makes all the difference in the world for fantasy owners. As your fourth receiver, he could be a bargain if he only has to sit out six to eight weeks.
Wed, 20 Aug 2014 06:57:17 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon's appeal hearing for his one-year suspension had no settlement talks. There has yet to be a ruling on the matter, but it appears to be an all-or-nothing case.

Tue, 19 Aug 2014 13:39:29 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon could have shown more effort on a couple plays during the team's Monday night game against the Washington Redskins, according to head coach Mike Pettine.
Fantasy Tip: Gordon is still awaiting a decision on his impending suspension, but it still doesn't bode well that he's not putting forth his best effort in the eyes of Pettine. When he does put forth the effort, Gordon is one of the top fantasy receivers in football, though his value will take a hit once a suspension is announced.

Thu, 14 Aug 2014 17:10:51 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon might have to wait until the end of next week to hear a verdict on his appeal hearing, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Fantasy Tip: Until a ruling is handed down, Gordon is worth grabbing later in drafts in case his year-long suspension is reduced. Even a handful of games from Gordon could be more valuable than a full season of games from some other receivers that will be picked late in drafts.

Mon, 04 Aug 2014 15:38:35 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon expects a decision on the appeal of his suspension in one to three weeks, according to a source.
Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor this situation carefully because his value will become clearer once a decision is made on his appeal. Owners drafting before the decision is made should consider him as a risky player because there is a chance he could miss most, if not all, of the 2014 season.
Mon, 04 Aug 2014 14:44:58 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon was back on the field at practice Monday, Aug. 4, as his appeal of a year-long suspension continued. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello doesn't expect an immediate resolution on the Gordon appeal. Until he's told otherwise, Gordon plans to practice with the team.
Fantasy Tip: We have all been patiently awaiting word on how long Gordon will be suspended by the league. Stay patient, you'll have to wait a bit longer. We all expect Gordon to be suspended for a large chunk of the season, if not all of it, so he's an extremely risky draft selection for your fantasy team.

Fantasy Tip: Tomorrow's hearing will likely heavily impact the fantasy landscape as Gordon was a surefire WR1 before his suspension.
Wed, 30 Jul 2014 20:40:54 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon is in Stage III of the NFL's substance-abuse program, and a positive test automatically triggers a one-year suspension. For Gordon, only two options exist: full-year suspension or no suspension at all.
Fantasy Tip: Gordon's fantasy value will be known shortly once his appeal is heard. The outcry for Ray Rice's suspension of two games might factor in here. However, it is Gordon's third run-in in just a couple of seasons, and as a repeat offender he could be treated more harshly.
Wed, 30 Jul 2014 10:24:48 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon is expected to argue during his appeal hearing that second-hand smoke caused his positive test, but NFL spokesperson Greg Aiello indicated that argument may not change decision. "A cornerstone of both of our drug testing programs has always been that you are responsible for what is in your body," Aiello said. "It is stated that way in the policies." No player has won their appeal with the second-hand smoke argument.
Tue, 29 Jul 2014 12:29:50 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon will argue that second-hand marijuana smoke caused a positive test, and that he should not be suspended in an appeal hearing Friday, Aug. 1.
Tue, 29 Jul 2014 12:11:01 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon has passed at least 70 drug tests as a member of the Stage III drug program, and the positive test that is being reviewed for a one-year suspension was not far off from being ruled as a negative. Of the two urine samples taken from Gordon for that test, his "A" sample registered barely above the league's limit. The "B" sample came in at a level below the threshold.
A positive "A" leads to a test for the substance's presence in "B." But the "B" sample doesn't have to show a level befitting a violation; it only has to confirm a hint of the same substance as "A." If Gordon's "B" sample had been labeled as the "A" and vice versa, the sample that barely registered as a positive wouldn't have been examined.
Fantasy Tip: There's an increasing feeling that if this is valid, Gordon could be shown leniency, especially in light of the NFL's recent PR nightmare with the Ray Rice suspension ruling. He's not out of the woods yet, but there's reason to think he'll play some regulation football this year.
Mon, 28 Jul 2014 15:57:42 -0700

Tue, 22 Jul 2014 15:40:42 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon (hamstring) will practice when training camp starts, according to head coach Mike Pettine, despite his impending suspension.
Fantasy Tip: This is no reason to get your hopes up with Gordon despite the news of him practicing. His year-long suspension is all but guaranteed at this point, it's just not official yet.
Tue, 22 Jul 2014 08:52:04 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon won't be cut despite his looming suspension hearing and appeal, according to head coach Mike Pettine.
Fantasy Tip: They're willing to stick out whatever the discipline winds up being, at least for now. This could change as an actual suspension is handed down and enforced, so keep tabs. It doesn't look as if Gordon will be anything more than a middle- and late-rounds flyer for fantasy purposes.
Tue, 22 Jul 2014 08:11:09 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon's hearing on a possible suspension is expected to take place in the next 10 days, possibly two weeks, according to head coach Mike Pettine. They're also preparing for an appeal not long after.
Fantasy Tip: The waiting game continues. Hopefully, your draft doesn't take place until closer to the start of Week 1 so you'll have a sound idea of whether he's still worth a bench selection.
Fri, 18 Jul 2014 09:12:19 -0700
Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said he plans to meet with the team next week to discuss how they can help Gordon as he waits on his looming drug suspension. If Gordon loses his appeal, he's likely to be suspended by the NFL for the entire 2014 season, and he'd only be eligible for reinstatement after the season is up. The Browns have reached out to several professionals to try and get Gordon some help for his substance-abuse problems.
Fantasy Tip: Unfortunately for the Browns and Gordon, his on-field talents are secondary right now to his off-field concerns. He's become an even bigger draft risk after his latest off-field problems, and it's probably smart to avoid him entirely.
Thu, 17 Jul 2014 19:10:20 -0700

Cleveland Browns SS Donte Whitner said the team should not release WR Josh Gordon, because the players and coaches need to help him out with off-field issues. "We have to help him collectively. It's not going be one person that helps him, it's not going to be two people that help him. It's gonna come from the front office, the coaching staff, the players and his whole family. We have to help him - not only for football purposes, but for life purposes to get his life in order," Whitner said. Whitner said he is one of several teammates that have reached out to Gordon, who is very remorseful for what has happened.

Mon, 07 Jul 2014 11:40:09 -0700
Cleveland Browns general manager Ray Farmer said in a statement that the team is disappointed with WR Josh Gordon's arrest, but the organization has stronger feelings about the situation.
Fantasy Tip: Gordon's season and possibly career could be in jeopardy because of his numerous off-field issues. Most owners probably can avoid him because of his possible suspension and off-field issues, but owners in very deep leagues could consider using a late-round flier on him in case he plays at some point in 2014.
Mon, 07 Jul 2014 11:39:34 -0700
NFL Hall of Fame WR Cris Carter said he believes the Cleveland Browns should release WR Josh Gordon in order to get his attention and make him make changes in his life. "I feel for the kid," Carter said. "My situation was very, very similar. If I'm the Cleveland Browns - and it's gut-wrenching for me to say this - I really think that the only thing that's going to help the kid is if they release him." Carter was released by the Philadelphia Eagles when he was dealing with substance-abuse issues.
Mon, 07 Jul 2014 09:56:00 -0700
Indianapolis Colts LB D'Qwell Jackson, a former teammate of Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon, said on his Twitter account that Gordon is in need of help to pick up the pieces of his life. "He needs help, he really does," Jackson told ESPN.com. "He needs people to extend themselves and probably have to do more than they wanted to do. But if (the Browns) care anything about the kid, they have to do it." Two other people close to Gordon have said he has had substance-abuse issues since high school and have urged him to seek professional help. A league source believes the Browns are partly to blame because they haven't set Gordon up with a support system.
Fantasy Tip: One has to wonder at this point if Gordon's bright playing future is in serious jeopardy. He's already facing a year-long suspension, and his latest trouble won't help him avoid sitting out an entire season. He's an extremely risky selection, even as your WR4 or 5.
Mon, 07 Jul 2014 09:10:17 -0700
