Browns | Josh Gordon not on injury report

Fri, 21 Nov 2014 14:40:15 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon (non-injury) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 21, but is not on the injury report for Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon should be on the field in Week 12 for the first time this season. It is not known if Gordon will be limited during the game, but he should receive some targets. Gordon has an expensive price tag of $6,900 on FantasyScore this week but does have a favorable matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.

Browns | Josh Gordon sits out of practice

Thu, 20 Nov 2014 15:03:37 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon (non-injury related) did not practice Thursday, Nov. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon ($6,900, 13.8%) will still make his long-awaited season debut this weekend. He has a tasty matchup facing the Atlanta Falcons, who are one of five defenses to give up 1,900 or more yards to opposing wide receivers.

Browns | Josh Gordon needs time to acclimate?

Thu, 20 Nov 2014 13:00:24 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon was amped up and excited to take part in his first practice with the team this year Wednesday, Nov. 19, but QB Brian Hoyer cautioned that Gordon may need some time to acclimate to offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan's new offense. "It's not so much the physical aspect as knowing the plays, the heat of the battle," said Hoyer. "We do a lot of no-huddle stuff. Obviously, we're working with him on that." Hoyer mentioned that last year's offense was more set on getting the ball downfield, and he said he's never been one to force the ball to one specific player.

Fantasy Tip: Don't expect too much from Gordon ($6,900) in his first game back, although the matchup against the Atlanta Falcons is very tempting. It could be a boom or bust day for Cleveland's most talented offensive weapon.

Browns | Josh Gordon sore after practice

Thu, 20 Nov 2014 11:23:13 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon was "sore" after returning to practice Wednesday, Nov. 19, but the plan is to increase his activity each day this week, according to head coach Mike Pettine.

Fantasy Tip: Remember, Gordon ($6,900) hasn't practiced with the team all year, so he's working himself back into peak football shape. Still, he'll be suiting up for his first game of the season this weekend against the Atlanta Falcons, and the beautiful matchup will make it hard for you to keep him out of FantasyScore lineups right off the bat.

Browns | Expect Josh Gordon to be limited

Thu, 20 Nov 2014 09:22:54 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon is expected to be limited in Week 12 because it will be his first game of the season, and the team does not want to rush him into the offense, according to head coach Mike Pettine. Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith said he believes Gordon will have a significant role in the game because of his ability to make plays.

Fantasy Tip: It is not known how much playing time Gordon will receive during the game, but he likely will receive plenty of targets when he is on the field. Gordon has an expensive price tag of $6,900 on FantasyScore but has a good matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.

Browns | Josh Gordon doesn't do all drills

Wed, 19 Nov 2014 14:59:31 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon (non-injury) practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, Nov. 19. Gordon looked happy and was in great shape, and he caught passes from the quarterbacks in the portion that was open to the media. Head coach Mike Pettine indicated that Gordon will be limited throughout the week. "The trap to fall into is, 'Hey, he's back and let's just go ahead and throw him out there for a bunch of plays.' There's certainly danger inherent in doing that and we have to be smart with how we do it and have a plan to progress through the week," Pettine said. Pettine also cautioned that Gordon isn't back to full football shape, and it'll take him some time to learn a new offense.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon will cost $6,900 at FantasyScore this weekend against the Atlanta Falcons. The matchup is a good one if you trust that Gordon will be a big part of the offense immediately. It's certainly tempting after how Gordon came back from his suspension last year to dominate right off the bat.

Browns | Josh Gordon has big plans

Wed, 19 Nov 2014 10:48:35 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon has big plans in his return to game action in Week 12. Gordon told reporter Nate Burleson that he plans to tear up the league when he returns. "He told me: 'Starting on practice this Wednesday, I'm going to outwork everybody on the field,'" Burleson said Tuesday. "(He said) 'I'm going to try to evoke a pride in Cleveland that can hopefully lead us to the playoffs.' He's excited about coming back."

Fantasy Tip: Gordon could have a huge impact on your fantasy team this weekend with a favorable match up against the Atlanta Falcons. Gordon will cost $6,900 (13.8% of cap) in FantasyScore this week.

Falcons | Atlanta expects heavy dose of Josh Gordon

Tue, 18 Nov 2014 09:32:14 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon will make his season debut against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 12, and Falcons head coach Mike Smith doesn't expect the Browns to ease their best receiver back in. "Absolutely I do," Smith said. "They've stated that they want to get him out on the field as quickly as possible. And he's a game-changer. He's a guy that with the ball in his hands, he can make plays. So we're anticipating that we're going to get a full dose of him this week." Gordon had a league-leading 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns in 14 games in 2014. Smith said they aren't afraid to put CB Desmond Trufant, their best cornerback, in a shadow role on Gordon.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon could be an immediate boost to your fantasy club if you've been stashing him. He could also be an immediate asset to FantasyScore lineups against a Falcons squad that has been generous to wide receivers, especially ones with Gordon's ability.

Browns | Josh Gordon reinstated

Mon, 17 Nov 2014 08:26:20 -0800

Browns | Browns will get ball to Josh Gordon

Fri, 14 Nov 2014 09:33:25 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon is set to return to the team next week against the Atlanta Falcons after serving his 10-game drug suspension. Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan is looking forward to getting Gordon back, and he doesn't seem worried about disrupting the offense by trying to get Gordon the ball. "I haven't seen him out on the football field since training camp, so we'll have to see where he's at physically and everything," said Shanahan. "We'll try to get him in there, and as soon as he's ready to go, we'll make sure to work to get him the ball." Gordon has been able to work out with trainers at the team's facility but hasn't been able to practice with the team. Still, Shanahan wouldn't be surprised if Gordon was ready for full-time duty immediately.

Fantasy Tip: This goes against what the team was saying last week when they said Gordon wouldn't be guaranteed a role upon his return. Shanahan knows how dynamic a receiver Gordon can be, so they want to use him immediately. The matchup against the Falcons out of the gate looks nice for Gordon, too, so it'll be hard to keep him out of your lineups next week if you've been sitting on him all this time.

Browns | Josh Gordon must fight his way back

Thu, 06 Nov 2014 16:16:38 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon must fight his way back into the offense when he returns later this month, according to team officials. Gordon can return in Week 12 against the Atlanta Falcons, and he has been lifting with the team and sitting in on team meetings.

Fantasy Tip: This could easily be lip service from the team brass in order to motivate Gordon when he returns. He's easily their most dynamic and physically gifted offensive weapon, meaning he'll likely be incorporated heavily immediately. Gordon should be owned in all fantasy leagues.

Browns | CLE won't force feed Josh Gordon

Tue, 04 Nov 2014 14:29:04 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon won't be guaranteed anything when he returns from his suspension later this month, according to general manager Ray Farmer. "I would say to disrupt what you do offensively just to make sure you throw the ball to Josh Gordon ... I don't know that that's really the right way to operate," Farmer said. "Is he a phenomenal talent? Sure. I'd tell you that. He is a talented young man. He can do a lot of good things. But do you disrupt what you are to make sure that one person gets the ball?" The Browns have won four of their last five games.

Fantasy Tip: As McManamon mentions, Andrew Hawkins could be relegated to the third receiver role when Gordon returns, which will weaken his fantasy value. If Gordon is available on your league's waiver wire, he should be scooped up immediately.

Browns | Josh Gordon finally gets it

Wed, 24 Sep 2014 19:34:05 -0700

Cleveland Browns wide receivers coach Mike McDaniel is convinced WR Josh Gordon's most recent suspension made him realize he must stay on the straight and narrow to return to the field. "There's no question in my mind," McDaniel said Wednesday, Sept. 25. "Now do I think originally he understand the ramifications of his actions before he ever had a slip-up? Probably not, but it happens as it goes. That's one thing I've really been taken aback by is how much responsibility he's definitely taking, and he needs to continue to take."

Fantasy Tip: Gordon is eligible to return in Week 12 against the Atlanta Falcons. Fantasy owners are hoping Gordon really does get it, and can be a huge addition down the stretch and into the fantasy playoffs.

Browns | Josh Gordon eligible for Week 12

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 18:02:26 -0700

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon is eligible to return from his suspension to play in Week 12 against the Atlanta Falcons Sunday, Nov. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon might be a bit rusty, at least initially, but his return could be giant for fantasy owners making a run for a postseason spot. Looking ahead to the fantasy playoffs, he faces the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 15 at home before a road game against the Carolina Panthers in Week 16.

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 12:29:41 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon avoided an additional two-game suspension by pleading guilty to a driving while intoxicated charge in Raleigh, N.C., Tuesday, Sept. 16. Gordon's guilty plea will not be disciplined under the new drug policy.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon should be back after he serves the final eight games of his suspension. He should help fantasy owners in the later weeks of the season.

NFL | Drug testing agreement reached

Wed, 17 Sep 2014 06:32:03 -0700

The NFL and NFLPA have reached an agreement to a new drug testing policy. An announcement is expected soon.

Fantasy Tip: Wes Welker may be eligible to play in Week 3. He is priced at $3,700 (7.4% of your cap) on FantasyScore, but they are playing the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3. He's a cheap gamble to take, but temper expectations. Josh Gordon could be eligible to return later this season as well.

Tue, 16 Sep 2014 18:18:42 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon had his season-long suspension officially cut to 10 games Tuesday, Sept. 16. He could also avoid serving the mandatory two-game suspension for his DWI because he pled guilty to his drunken-driving charge early Tuesday before an agreement on the new-drug testing policy was reached, according to a league source.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Gordon could miss just eight more games and be eligible to return Sunday, Nov. 23.

Browns | Josh Gordon pleads guilty to DWI

Tue, 16 Sep 2014 09:42:11 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon pled guilty to driving while intoxicated in North Carolina Tuesday, Sept. 16, according to the Wake County Clerk of Court. He received 12 months unsupervised probation and will have to pay $290 in court costs, as well as a $100 fine. Gordon's year-long suspension is expected to be reduced to 10 games once a final agreement on a new drug-testing policy is in place. However, his DWI conviction under the new policy could result in a two-game suspension on top of his 10-game suspension.

Fantasy Tip: It's not official yet, but this will likely put Gordon out for 12 games once the new drug-testing policy is in place. Regardless, Gordon should still be owned in all leagues, as he could help your team in the fantasy playoffs.

NFL | League close to new drug agreement

Thu, 11 Sep 2014 17:10:44 -0700

The NFL and the Players Association are close to finalizing a new drug agreement that would bring human-grown hormone testing and changes to the marijuana policy. A new deal could result in reduced punishments for Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon, Denver Broncos WR Wes Welker and Dallas Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick. Players could vote on the new deal as early as Friday, Sept. 12.

Browns | Josh Gordon would play immediately

Thu, 11 Sep 2014 14:26:48 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon could play against the New Orleans Saints in Week 2 if a new drug policy agreement with the NFL and Players Association becomes a reality, according to offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan. "If Josh is able to play this week, I'd like to get him out there," Shanahan said. "I think he'd be able to help." The Browns have not cleared out Gordon's locker, even though he has been suspended for the year.

Fantasy Tip: It's unlikely that the league and players union comes to an agreement before Week 2, but if Gordon is on waivers in your league, he's worth adding. Gordon has a salary of $3,700 (7.4% of cap) against the New Orleans Saints, so if he miraculously is cleared, he would be a wise addition to all lineups.

Browns | Josh Gordon denies having an addiction

Thu, 11 Sep 2014 07:38:17 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon said he does not have a drug addiction in his first public comments with local media since his one-year suspension Wednesday, Sept. 10. He maintained that he was exposed to secondhand smoke, which resulted in his failed drug test. "In this case I was exposed to it from secondhand and prior to I've been drug free and been staying that way," Gordon said. "This incident has been causing a backlash of negative attention and negative media of me being an addict or junkie or using drugs terribly too much, which is definitely not the case. I'd definitely like to have that out in the open and be clear with that for sure."

The policy will include human growth hormone testing for the first time ever, as well as changes that raise limits for marijuana testing and expand neutral arbitration. Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon has "better than a 50-50 chance" to play this season, in the opinion of ESPNCleveland.com's Tony Grossi.

"The whole being in limbo thing, I'm over it," Gordon said. "I'm not waiting on the edge of my seat anymore." Gordon said he checked himself into a rehab clinic in July voluntarily, even though he doesn't consider himself an addict.

NFL | Gordon, Welker may return soon

Fri, 05 Sep 2014 06:03:19 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon and Denver Broncos WR Wes Welker could have their suspensions reduced if the players and owners agree on a new drug testing policy. The new policy that may be forthcoming would include testing for human growth hormone. Offseason use of amphetamines would move from the performance-enhancing substance policy to the substance-abuse policy. Welker would go from a first-time offender in the PED policy to a first-time offender in the substance-abuse policy, which means he would not be subject to suspension. The threshold to trigger a positive result on a marijuana test would rise. Gordon's positive marijuana test was barely above the NFL's current threshold for a positive test.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon and Welker would make an immediate impact for fantasy teams and could be great values on FantasyScore next week if their suspensions were lifted.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Gordon may have to sit out training camp next season because of the suspension, but that has not been determined at this point. Browns | Ruling on Josh Gordon near

Wed, 27 Aug 2014 09:17:30 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon may hear the ruling on the appeal of his impending suspension at some point Wednesday, Aug. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will be very interested in the ruling, because Gordon could one of the top wide receivers if he is not suspended. Gordon could be a mid- to late-round pick if he receives something like an eight-game suspension. He will not have any value if he is suspended for the 2014 season.

Browns | Josh Gordon's DWI hearing delayed

Tue, 26 Aug 2014 10:13:27 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon's hearing for a drunken-driving charge has been rescheduled for November. He was originally scheduled to appear in court Tuesday, Aug. 26. He was arrested July 5 after being pulled over for going 50 mph in a 35 mph zone. Gordon is also still waiting to hear from the league on whether he'll be suspended for all or part of this year for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

Fantasy Tip: We all thought Gordon's suspension would be announced by the NFL sometime last week. He's expected to be suspended, but half a season sitting out compared to a full one makes all the difference in the world for fantasy owners. As your fourth receiver, he could be a bargain if he only has to sit out six to eight weeks.

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon could have shown more effort on a couple plays during the team's Monday night game against the Washington Redskins, according to head coach Mike Pettine.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon is still awaiting a decision on his impending suspension, but it still doesn't bode well that he's not putting forth his best effort in the eyes of Pettine. Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon might have to wait until the end of next week to hear a verdict on his appeal hearing, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Fantasy Tip: Until a ruling is handed down, Gordon is worth grabbing later in drafts in case his year-long suspension is reduced. Even a handful of games from Gordon could be more valuable than a full season of games from some other receivers that will be picked late in drafts.
