Browns | Josh Gordon expected on field soon

Tue, 21 Aug 2018 19:25:09 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon should be on the practice field very soon, according to head coach Hue Jackson.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon appears to be on track to meet the conditions needed to return to the field. Gordon should be considered a No. 1 or No. 2 fantasy receiver as long as he is on the field but is a risky option because of his previous off-field issues.

Browns | Josh Gordon won't play this week

Mon, 20 Aug 2018 16:34:03 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon (personal) will not be active for Week 3 of the preseason. Gordon remains on the Active/Non-Football Illness list and has not resumed practicing.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon's situation is ongoing. It has already been reported that he has a chance to play Week 1, but his long-term potential is obviously risky. Feel free to grab him as a mid-range WR2, but have a contingency plan in place.

Browns | Josh Gordon rejoins team

Sat, 18 Aug 2018 09:18:07 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon has ended his leave of absence and has rejoined the team. General manager John Dorsey said Gordon will initially participate in meetings and conditioning and then will be eased into football activities.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon probably will not receive much preseason playing time but should be ready for the start of the regular season. He is one of the better receivers in the NFL when he is on the field and can be a solid No. 2 receiver in all fantasy leagues.

Browns | No timetable for Josh Gordon's return

Thu, 09 Aug 2018 15:21:46 -0700

Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey said there is still "no updated timetable" for WR Josh Gordon's return to the team.

Fantasy Tip: There's arguably nothing worse than hearing when a potential impact player has "no timetable" right around fantasy draft season, which essentially puts Gordon in limbo as it pertains to average draft position. While the 27-year-old may still have the ability to carve out WR2 or WR3 value this year, he remains a risk right now due to the uncertainty of his return.

Browns | Josh Gordon staying on Did Not Report list

Tue, 07 Aug 2018 14:34:00 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon will remain on the Reserve/Did Not Report list because he will still receive an accrued season despite being on the list. There is an exception to the rule if a player does not report because of an illness or hardship.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon is expected to report at some point, but the timetable is still uncertain at this point. Gordon can be at least No. 2 fantasy receiver when he is on the field, but there is some risk with him because of his uncertain status.

Browns | Josh Gordon expected to move to NFI list

Mon, 06 Aug 2018 09:07:51 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon is expected to be moved from the Reserve/Did Not Report list to the Active/Non-Football Injury list in order to prevent Gordon from losing an accrued season toward free agency, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon is still expected to return to the team at some point, but it is not known if he will report before the start of the regular season. He has shown he can be a No. 2 fantasy receiver when he plays, but owners will need other players ready to use in case Gordon misses more time.

Browns | Return date for Josh Gordon still uncertain

Sun, 05 Aug 2018 11:00:06 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon (personal) will not return to the team prior to Tuesday, Aug. 7 - the reporting deadline for a player to be eligible to record an accrued season for free agency purposes - but the team is reportedly working closely with the NFL to make sure that Gordon's health and well-being remain the top priorities. Gordon is in Gainesville, Fla., is reportedly doing well in his treatment program but needs more time, according to Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer. Browns | Josh Gordon in good spirits

Sat, 04 Aug 2018 13:05:00 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon has been in communication with WR Rashard Higgins, and Higgins said that Gordon is in good spirits. General manager John Dorsey said he still believes that Gordon will return to the team this season.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to continue to monitor the situation to see when Gordon reports to the team. He has shown that he can be a No. 1 fantasy receiver when he plays but is currently a risky option because of his uncertain status.

Browns | Josh Gordon needs NFL approval to return?

Wed, 25 Jul 2018 23:36:26 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon will be required to make a written request to the team for reinstatement, and Commissioner Roger Goodell would need to approve it, according to a league source. GM John Dorsey, who would not comment when asked if Gordon could be facing a suspension, did acknowledge on Wednesday, July 25, that he doesn't know when Gordon will rejoin the team.

Fantasy Tip: There's a whole lot not being said right now, and it's starting to muddy the waters as to Gordon's outlook for 2018. His upside is obviously enticing, and if things get resolved in a timely fashion he's a borderline top-20 option. The longer this drags out, however, the bigger the downside becomes. This is definitely a story to keep an eye on given Gordon's history and the lack of concrete information available.

Browns | Josh Gordon expected to play in 2018

Wed, 25 Jul 2018 11:52:40 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon (personal) is expected to play at some point during the 2018 season, according to general manager John Dorsey. Gordon will be placed on the Did Not Report list instead of the Non-Football Injury list.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation to see when Gordon will be able to report to training camp. He is an attractive fantasy option when he is on the field, but his value may take a dip because of this situation. He can be considered a No. 2 fantasy receiver if he is ready for Week 1.

Browns | Josh Gordon unlikely to miss much time?

Tue, 24 Jul 2018 20:52:35 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon is reportedly receiving plenty of support from the team because he's worked so hard on his recovery and his game since being reinstated last season, and the "vibe" around in camp is that he will be back with the team after a brief absence to proactively seek more counseling.

Browns | More on Josh Gordon

Tue, 24 Jul 2018 06:16:34 -0700

Updating previous reports, Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon is seeking additional counseling to deal with his mental health and anxiety, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Gordon has regularly been in touch with his counselors and was told to take the extra time in a proactive move, sources said.

Fantasy Tip: If you're on the fence about drafting Gordon, this actually gives more optimism that the obstacles of his past are no longer immovable. He's going as a WR2 in leagues, and he's still a boom-or-bust project. However, the talent is clearly still there for more.

Browns | Josh Gordon will stay with team

Mon, 23 Jul 2018 09:23:39 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon is in no danger of being released even though he will not be present for the start of training camp because of his treatment plan, according to a source. Gordon performed well during offseason workouts and has the support of the team in his recovery.

Fantasy Tip: It is not known when Gordon will report to training camp but will continue to be a big part of the team's passing game this season. He can be a solid No. 2 receiver in most fantasy leagues as long as he is ready for Week 1.

Mon, 23 Jul 2018 07:22:19 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon tweeted Monday, July 23, that he will not report to training camp as part of his overall health and treatment plan laid out by the team.

Fantasy Tip: The 27-year-old still very much looks the part. He is a boom-or-bust option as a WR2 in fantasy.

Browns | Josh Gordon impressing fellow WR

Fri, 06 Jul 2018 18:29:39 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Jarvis Landry called WR Josh Gordon "unstoppable" after watching him during spring practices. "The size that he has and his ability to be able to get in and out of cuts, I think that's one of the most impressive things I've recognized and noticed about him," Landry said.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon's production on the field has never been a problem, but he has had more than his fair share of trouble off the field. He is far from a save pick, but if he's available as a WR3, the upside is worth the gamble.

Browns | Josh Gordon has high praise for receiving corps

Wed, 13 Jun 2018 05:50:16 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon believes the Browns have the NFL's best receiving corps, he said after the team's first day of mandatory minicamp, Tuesday, June 12. "I think we're the best receiving corps in the league, in my opinion, already just based off of talent alone,'' Gordon boasted. "So, you put in the playbook and some guys that are hungry enough to go do it, and hopefully, we go out there and show and prove that. That's just my opinion, but we're not short on talent at the wide receiver position at all." This is Gordon's first offseason program since 2014.

Browns | Josh Gordon could receive extension

Sat, 09 Jun 2018 09:26:37 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon could be the next player in line for a contract extension, in the opinion of ESPNCleveland.com's Tony Grossi. He is scheduled to make $790,001 in 2018 and will be a restricted free agent next offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon returned to the field last season after a long suspension and played well in his limited time. He has a chance to be the No. 1 receiver for the Browns this season and will see a significant amount of targets. He can be at least a No. 3 receiver in most fantasy leagues in 2018.

Browns | Josh Gordon signs tender

Mon, 16 Apr 2018 06:26:20 -0700

Browns | Josh Gordon fine with new teammate

Sat, 17 Mar 2018 17:49:07 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon cleared the air with new FS Damarious Randall on Wednesday, March 14. Gordon took exception on Twitter last season after Randall bragged to the media about holding Gordon to one catch, and then the defender fired back later alluding to Gordon's battle with alcohol and drug addiction. "We just had a great, great dinner," Randall said of the meeting. "We're looking forward to being great teammates and just winning a lot of games."

Browns | Josh Gordon tendered by Cleveland

Tue, 13 Mar 2018 09:19:51 -0700

Cleveland Browns exclusive-rights free agent WR Josh Gordon received a one-year tender worth $790,000 on Tuesday, March 13. He will not be able to negotiate with other teams as a result.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon's options were limited as an exclusive-rights free agent, but this tender does give him the right to sign a long-term deal down the road. If he has truly moved past his off-field problems, he should have no problem doing so. He has long had fantasy WR1 upside, but owners would be wise to draft him more like a low-end WR2 or WR3 given his history.

Browns | HC wants Josh Gordon to remain a Brown

Fri, 02 Mar 2018 00:04:10 -0800

Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson said that he wants WR Josh Gordon to remain with the club "for a long time," adding that he's been having a "really good offseason." Jackson also believes Gordon "is going to have a great year for us."

Fantasy Tip: There can be no denying Gordon's immense talents and the 26-year-old reminded everyone of that at times in his five games this past season following his reinstatement. While his overall numbers weren't of the spectacular kind, that could mainly be attributed to poor quarterback play, which the team will address as its top priority this offseason. Gordon is worth watching in all drafts for his WR2 potential.

Browns | Josh Gordon to be ERFA

Wed, 21 Feb 2018 15:12:32 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon will be an exclusive rights free agent this offseason because he did not play in enough games this season for an accrued season.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon will not be allowed to talk with other teams, so he will be with the Browns for at least one more seasons. He recorded 335 yards and one touchdown in five games this season and should be a focal point in the passing game in 2018. He can be at least a No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Browns | Week 17 game recap for Browns

Sun, 31 Dec 2017 13:49:46 -0800

WR Josh Gordon was good for four receptions and 115 yards on seven targets, while WR Rashard Higgins shook free for two scores, finishing with three grabs and 68 yards. TE David Njoku ended his season with two grabs and 38 yards, while WR Corey Coleman managed just one grab for 18 yards.

Browns | Josh Gordon quiet in Week 16

Sun, 24 Dec 2017 13:26:39 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon caught two passes for 19 yards against the Chicago Bears in Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon was targeted eight times during the game but was not able to be a big factor in the passing game. He should continue to receive a lot of targets next week against the Pittsburgh Steelers and could be a No. 3 receiver or a flex option.

Browns | Josh Gordon catches five pass

Sun, 17 Dec 2017 14:49:45 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon caught five passes for 47 yards against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon has received 28 targets in the three games since being added to the roster and will continue to see plenty of targets in the last two games. He can be at least a No. 3 fantasy receiver next week against the Chicago Bears.

Browns | Josh Gordon back into end zone

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 16:18:46 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon finished with three receptions for a team-high 69 yards and a touchdown on six targets in Week 14 against the Green Bay Packers for his first touchdown since the 2013 season, or 1,078 days.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon has scored 10 or more fantasy points in PPR leagues in his first two games back, just the fourth player in NFL history to do that after such a lengthy absence. He is a special talent and is back as a fantasy standout as long as he can stay out of trouble.

Browns | Josh Gordon makes impact in return

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 16:35:10 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon finished with four receptions for 85 yards on 11 targets in the Week 13 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon was suspended for more than two seasons due to substance addiction, but he satisfied the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell to earn another chance. He looked awfully good and didn't show a lot of rust. Fantasy owners in need of a receiver should trust him down the stretch.

Browns | Josh Gordon will start in return

Thu, 30 Nov 2017 10:38:06 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon will start, as expected, against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 13, according to head coach Hue Jackson.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson has done nothing but rave about the prodigal receiver over the last week or two. Gordon is a physical specimen and a gifted receiver, but he hasn't played real football in three years. Take the risk if you're out of the playoffs, but starting him with a postseason berth on the line is playing with fire.

Browns | Josh Gordon to play 'as much as possible'

Mon, 27 Nov 2017 11:56:09 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon, who was reinstated on a conditional basis earlier in November, is poised to play his first regular season game in nearly three years in Week 13 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Head coach Hue Jackson told reporters he hopes to play Gordon "as much as possible."

Fantasy Tip: Considering the talent and the amount of time he has been away from the game, the potential range of outcomes for this week and the remainder of the season is huge. Gordon led the league with 1,646 yards receiving in only 14 games in 2013, then looked like a shell of himself after a long suspension in 2014. Owners owe it to themselves to give him at least one prove-it week before even they even consider trusting Gordon in their playoff lineups, but the talent is obviously there for him to be a league-winner.

Browns | Josh Gordon could play in Week 13

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 07:19:32 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon is expected to be activated by the team from the Reserve/Commissioner Exempt List this week, according to a source informed of the team's thinking. This means he would return to the field for Week 13's game versus the Los Angeles Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: The 26-year-old Gordon is set to play for the first time since Dec. 21, 2014, following multiple suspensions for repeated violations of the league's substance abuse policy. He was impressive after returning to practice last week but there has never been any doubt about his ability. Gordon is worth rostering in all fantasy formats but he should not be started in his first game back.

Browns | Josh Gordon back at practice Wednesday

Wed, 22 Nov 2017 11:29:43 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon took part in practice in a regular season full-squad practice Wednesday, Nov. 22, for the first time since Dec. 26, 2014.

Fantasy Tip: It's impossible to say with any conviction whether or not Gordon can have an impact in fantasy this season, but he seems to have turned his life around. The talent has never been in question with him, and it wouldn't be a surprise if he has an immediate impact in Week 13 - the first week he is eligible to play. With that said, owners would be wise to let him prove it for a game or two before sticking him in their lineups during the fantasy playoffs.

Browns | Josh Gordon will practice soon

Thu, 16 Nov 2017 11:21:43 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon is slated to begin practicing Monday, Nov. 20, according to head coach Hue Jackson. Jackson added that Gordon is doing all the right things, including showing up for meetings on time, and has been a "pleasure to be around."

Fantasy Tip: Whether or not Gordon's attitude and focus translate to the field remains to be seen. He's been out of the game since 2014, so the risk involved in starting him right away is obvious. Gordon's upside is clear, but don't start him immediately. Pick him up if he's still on waivers though.

Browns | Josh Gordon returns to Browns

Tue, 07 Nov 2017 11:37:26 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon officially returned to the Browns' facility Tuesday, Nov. 7, and is expected to participate in team meetings Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon won't be able to take the field for a few more weeks still, so don't think about starting him yet. When he does play, there is plenty of rust to shake off and the quarterback play has been some of the worst in the NFL. Gordon should merely be a fun, desperation flex play for teams eliminated from the playoffs.

Browns | Josh Gordon reinstated on conditional basis

Wed, 01 Nov 2017 15:35:11 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon has been reinstated by the NFL on a conditional basis and will begin practicing with the Browns starting Monday, Nov. 20. He can immediately take part in meetings and individual workouts and can be added to the active roster Monday, Nov. 27.

Fantasy Tip: There is a chance that Gordon will be able to play in December, so owners will need to monitor the situation. He has been successful when he has played and could be added in deeper leagues, but the team's quarterback situation will hurt his fantasy value.

Browns | Josh Gordon to meet with NFL

Tue, 31 Oct 2017 22:28:26 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon is set to meet with the NFL Wednesday, Nov. 1, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Gordon, who hasn't played since 2014, is seeking reinstatement.

Fantasy Tip: There were some rumblings that Gordon's rights would be dealt, but the deadline came and went without any action. If Gordon were to be reinstated it'd be interesting to see what the Browns did with him. He was a legitimate big-play receiver prior to his issues so he'd definitely be of interest if he were to return to the NFL.

Browns | Josh Gordon could be traded

Tue, 31 Oct 2017 11:19:13 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon may be reinstated by the NFL soon, and it's possible the Browns are willing trade the rights to him before the traded deadline Tuesday, Oct. 31, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: This is an interesting development considering Gordon has not played this year and all the off-field trouble he's been in in his young career. The talent is obviously there, though, and Gordon is still young at 26 years old. It would take a brave team to take another chance on Gordon. If he is traded, and reinstated, then he becomes a top waiver wire priority.

Browns | No reinstatement yet for Josh Gordon

Tue, 03 Oct 2017 11:14:52 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon has not yet applied for reinstatement, a source said Tuesday, Oct. 3.

Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain if Gordon will apply for reinstatement soon and how it will go when he does try. He has a long way to go before potentially seeing game action and therefore he warrants no fantasy consideration at this time.

Browns | Josh Gordon reinstatement not on horizon

Thu, 17 Aug 2017 11:16:21 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon's potential reinstatement to the NFL is not being actively considered, according to commissioner Roger Goodell. Gordon is eligible to re-apply for reinstatement in September after being denied reinstatement three months ago.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon has serious recurring off-field issues. He can be avoided altogether in fantasy leagues until at least next season, at which point he may still not be reinstated.

Browns | Cleveland not writing off Josh Gordon?

Thu, 11 May 2017 18:28:29 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon would be welcomed back if he is reinstated and is able to put his life back together, according to team sources.

Fantasy Tip: You can stash Gordon on the end of your bench in keeper formats if you want, but he is probably just dead weight.

Browns | Josh Gordon's reinstatement denied

Thu, 11 May 2017 08:40:33 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon's reinstatement petition was denied Thursday, May 11. He can reapply this fall.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon is a bit of an enigma and can't be trusted for fantasy purposes. He has all the talent in the world when he is on the field. He'd be a WR3 if reinstated, but that doesn't look promising in the interim.

Browns | Josh Gordon sticking with Cleveland?

Wed, 29 Mar 2017 11:01:15 -0700

"We're not in a position at wide receiver to turn down a guy like Josh if we feel like he's settled himself," Brown said Tuesday, March 28, at the Annual League Meeting in Phoenix, per the Akron Beacon Journal. Head coach Hue Jackson previously said the Browns were expected to move on from Gordon.

Browns | Josh Gordon unlikely to stay with CLE

Sat, 25 Mar 2017 05:06:58 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon likely will be traded or released if he is reinstated by the NFL, according to a source. The Browns would own Gordon's rights for two more years if he is reinstated.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon has not played since 2014 because of suspensions but there is a chance he could play in 2017. He has played well when he has been on the field but has been suspended multiple times because of substance abuse. He will be a risky option in all fantasy leagues and could only be a No. 5 receiver in deeper leagues if he plays.

Wed, 01 Mar 2017 07:43:40 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon is applying for reinstatement Wednesday, March 1.

Browns | Josh Gordon can be traded

Mon, 31 Oct 2016 06:38:45 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon is allowed to be traded despite his indefinite suspension from the NFL. Gordon was released from an inpatient rehabilitation center Sunday, Oct. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon can still be held in dynasty leagues depending on your roster restraints, but that's really pushing it right now after this long of a layoff.
