Chargers | Keenan Allen, Ryan Mathews could return

Mon, 22 Dec 2014 13:34:12 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen (shoulder, ankle) and RB Ryan Mathews (ankle) could return to the lineup for Week 17 against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to head coach Mike McCoy. Mathews has missed the last two games with a severe ankle sprain, and he hasn't practiced at all since his injury.

Fantasy Tip: Allen and Mathews will both be worth $5,555 at FantasyScore if they play. Running with either of them for your daily lineups will be a pretty big gamble if they're active, though. Eddie Royal ($5,555) and Malcom Floyd ($5,555) could be midrange flex plays against the Chiefs.

Fri, 19 Dec 2014 13:32:38 -0800

San Diego Chargers RB Ryan Mathews (knee) and WR Keenan Allen (shoulder, ankle) have been ruled out for Week 16 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Fantasy Tip: With Mathews out, Donald Brown ($3,000) and Branden Oliver ($3,000) should see more work. Both are worth considering as sleeper flex options at FantasyScore. Allen's absence means more targets for Malcom Floyd ($4,300), Eddie Royal ($3,100) and Antonio Gates ($6,800). Royal represents the best value buy, but keep in mind that Philip Rivers has been banged up.

Wed, 17 Dec 2014 14:18:28 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen (ankle, shoulder) is not taking part in practice Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: There's a very small chance that Allen will play again this year, let alone in the regular season. In his absence, Malcom Floyd ($4,300) and Eddie Royal ($3,100) are the ones you want to target this weekend against the San Francisco 49ers. Fantasy Tip: Malcom Floyd ($4,300, 8.6%) and Eddie Royal ($3,100, 6.2%) could see more targets this week, although Antonio Gates ($6.800, 13.6%) will probably be the main beneficiary in the passing game and is worth considering on FantasyScore.

Tue, 16 Dec 2014 11:32:30 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen (collarbone) suffered a broken collarbone in Week 15 and is not expected to play this week. Surgery is not planned at this point and he is not expected to go on Reserve/Injured.

Fantasy Tip: The injury to Allen gives added value to Malcom Floyd ($4,300) this week, though he does have a tough matchup facing the San Francisco 49ers, who are one of four teams to allow fewer than 2,000 yards to wide receivers this year.

Mon, 15 Dec 2014 10:55:30 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen (ankle) is having his ankle injury evaluated Monday, Dec. 15, according to head coach Mike McCoy.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to wait to see if Allen will be able to do anything during practice this week before deciding on their Week 16 lineups. Allen would have a tough matchup against the San Francisco 49ers if he is able to play, so owners may want to look for another option.

Chargers | Keenan Allen quiet in win

Sun, 21 Sep 2014 18:37:02 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen (groin) was able to play in Week 3 against the Buffalo Bills, but he managed just two catches for 17 yards and he was targeted just the two times.

Fantasy Tip: Allen was reportedly not going to be limited, so the lack of production is mostly due to the Buffalo pass defense. In fact, San Diego wide receivers accounted for just eight receptions on 12 targets. Chalk it up as a bad overall week for the entire team. He'll look to rebound for fantasy owners in Week 4 with a much better matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Chargers | Keenan Allen showing more speed

Fri, 01 Aug 2014 20:38:57 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen has shown more speed during training camp, which should help him get past defenders faster, according to CB Shareece Wright. "It just makes him a more powerful threat when he's that good at the line and has speed behind it," Wright said. "A lot of times, he will win at the line, but when you've got recovery speed, you can make up for that. Now that he's faster, it's not going to be as easy to make up once you lose at the line. He's going to be open on more of his routes."

Fantasy Tip: Allen is coming off a terrific 2013 season and should be one of the top targets in the passing game again. He should be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 wide receiver in all fantasy leagues this season.

Chargers | Keenan Allen improving speed

Wed, 04 Jun 2014 11:24:46 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen believes he is faster than last year and fully healthy after knee issues which made him sluggish in the offseason and starting off the year. Allen said his primary focus has been improving his speed.

Fantasy Tip: If Allen can add more speed to his already crisp route-running, hes definitely capable of duplicating his 2013 numbers. Allen should be considered a fringe WR1 in standard leagues.
