Chargers | Keenan Allen kept in check

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 20:57:10 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen finished with five catches on nine targets for 45 yards in a 17-16 win over the Oakland Raiders in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Allen was held below 60 yards for the first time this season, but he has seen at least nine targets in every game. Being Philip Rivers' go-to option should keep him in the WR2 range on a weekly basis.

Chargers | Four grabs for Keenan Allen

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 17:01:18 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen posted four receptions for a team-high 67 yards on 12 targets in Week 5 against the New York Giants.

Fantasy Tip: Philip Rivers looked for Allen early and often, but they still managed to hook up just the four times. Allen has four or more grabs in each of his five games, and he remains a solid PPR fantasy option heading into Week 6 against the Raiders. He hasn't visited the end zone since Week 1, but his yardage total (401) makes him still worth of WR2/3 consideration in standard leagues, too.

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen caught five of his 11 targets for 138 yards in a 26-24 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Allen is healthy and back to being one of the most dependable options, especially in PPR formats. He draws a tough matchup against the New York Giants in Week 5, but he could still provide WR2 production.

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 18:30:03 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen managed five receptions for 61 yards on nine targets in the Week 3 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: Allen has five or more catches in each of his first three games. He has always been productive, especially for those in PPR fantasy formats, when healthy. He appears to be 100 percent after an ACL injury last season and he remains a solid WR2 heading into Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: Allen has been one of Philip Rivers' top targets when healthy, and Allen had his number called plenty Saturday night. Yes, there are serious injury concerns, but he has enough upside to grab as a WR2.

Chargers | Keenan Allen back at practice

Tue, 08 Aug 2017 20:03:33 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (calf) participated in practice Tuesday, Aug. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Allen missed a few days of practice because of a sore calf but is back on the field and should be fine moving forward. He has dealt with injuries over the last few years but is one of the better receivers in the league when he is healthy. Owners could select Allen as their No. 2 receiver in drafts if he stays healthy.

Chargers | Keenan Allen still not on the field

Mon, 07 Aug 2017 17:42:20 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (calf) did not participate in practice Monday, Aug. 7. He said his sore calf is more on a maintenance issue and that he is feeling great.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Allen wants to be completely healthy before he returns to the field. Allen has dealt with injuries over the last few seasons but is a terrific fantasy option when he is healthy. He can be considered a No. 2 fantasy receiver if he is able to return from his calf injury.

Chargers | Keenan Allen sits out practice

Fri, 04 Aug 2017 17:53:06 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (calf) did not participate in practice Friday, Aug. 4, because of a sore calf.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Allen is dealing with a minor injury and should be back on the field soon. He has been limited to only nine games over the last two seasons because of injuries, which makes him a risky option for owners. He should be the top target in the Chargers' passing game in 2017 and can be a No. 2 fantasy receiver if he stays healthy.

Chargers | Keenan Allen doing well at camp

Mon, 31 Jul 2017 14:34:01 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (knee) played well against CB Casey Hayward at training camp Monday, July 31. Allen has been recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered early last season.

Fantasy Tip: Allen is your prototypical high-risk, high-reward player. He has WR1 upside when he's healthy, but he is rarely healthy, missing 21 games over the last two seasons. Allen can be drafted as a high-end WR2, but have a backup plan in place.

Chargers | Keenan Allen looked explosive

Mon, 24 Jul 2017 07:34:24 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (knee) looked quick and explosive in offseason work. He's due for a monster season, according to beat writer Eric D. Williams.

Fantasy Tip: Allen has played just nine games the last two years and is coming back from a torn anterior cruciate ligament. The 25-year-old has ample upside and ample injury risk as a WR2 in fantasy.

Chargers | Keenan Allen already up to speed

Thu, 18 May 2017 20:21:19 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (knee) is already running routes at full speed in practice, and he said Tuesday, May 16, that he surprised himself with how well he is able to compete.

Fantasy Tip: Allen has WR1 upside, especially in PPR formats, but he should be drafted as a WR2 because of his extensive injury history.

Chargers | Mike Williams to open up offense

Thu, 27 Apr 2017 19:54:49 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Mike Williams' presence will help open up the offense, according to WR Keenan Allen.

Fantasy Tip: The Chargers already had some weapons in the passing game, so Williams will likely have a limited role as a rookie. He will be a late-round pick with upside in redraft leagues, but he is worthy of a first-round pick in rookie drafts.

Chargers | Keenan Allen nearing full health

Mon, 10 Apr 2017 13:16:17 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (knee) said he's around 85 percent healthy but feels good with his rehabilitation process.

Fantasy Tip: Allen has been bit by a pretty big injury bug the last couple years, missing 23 games in that span. He's the Chargers' best receiver and one of the best receivers in the NFL, he just can't stay on the field. The high-risk, high-reward nature of Allen puts him in low-end WR1 to high-end WR2 territory.

Chargers | Keenan Allen still not 100 percent

Mon, 20 Mar 2017 20:27:38 -0700

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (knee) is still not 100 percent and he won't be a full participant when the Chargers begin organized team activities April 3. However, Allen did say he's doing "almost everything," including running and cutting, and expects to be ready for the start of training camp in July.

Fantasy Tip: Allen has exhibited WR1 upside since entering the league in 2013, but unfortunately, significant injuries have limited him to just nine games combined over the last two seasons. The 24-year-old should be at or close to full health entering the new campaign, but given his recent history, he remains an injury risk. If he can just stay healthy, Allen has the potential to be one of the top-10 receivers in all of pro football.

Chargers | Keenan Allen recovering on schedule

Thu, 02 Mar 2017 09:23:30 -0800

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (knee) is on track in his rehabilitation from a torn anterior cruciate ligament, according to general manager Tom Telesco. A more defined timetable on Allen's recovery is expected in April.

Fantasy Tip: Allen is Philip Rivers' favorite target when he's on the field; the problem is Allen has only been on the field in nine games the last two seasons. Like his teammate Danny Woodhead, Allen is a high risk, high reward player. Drafting him may be too risky of a proposition if Allen's average draft position is as a low-end WR1 or high-end WR2.

Sat, 26 Nov 2016 13:44:02 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen (knee) recently started to work out on a treadmill and expects to be ready for organized team activities during the offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Allen should be ready for the start of the 2017 season and probably will regain the job as the No. 1 receiver for the Chargers. He should be considered a No. 1 or a high-end No. 2 receiver in all fantasy leagues if he is healthy.

Chargers | Keenan Allen out for the season

Mon, 12 Sep 2016 13:34:02 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen (knee) is being placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Sept. 12, with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He is out for the season.

Fantasy Tip: It's one of the biggest losses the Chargers could have suffered, especially after Allen missed half of last season. With Allen out, Antonio Gates, Travis Benjamin and Danny Woodhead should see upticks in targets. Tyrell Williams is worth a pickup off waivers after catching two passes for 71 yards in Week 1.

Chargers | San Diego offense headed for another dip?

Mon, 12 Sep 2016 09:19:26 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen (knee) will likely need to be replaced by committee in the opinion of QB Philip Rivers after the wideout reportedly tore the ACL in his right knee in a Week 1 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Last season, the Chargers averaged 24 points with Allen in the lineup before a lacerated kidney that ended his year. After his exit, San Diego averaged 16 points the rest of the season.

Fantasy Tip: The good news - if there is any - is the Chargers have more young and/or proven talent at receiver in 2016. There is some thought San Diego will bring back James Jones, who they cut during training camp, but owners can expect Travis Benjamin, Dontrelle Inman and Tyrell Williams to see more targets on a regular basis. Allen's injury should also lock Antonio Gates and Danny Woodhead into their respective TE1 and high-end RB2 designations in PPR leagues.

Chargers | Keenan Allen may have torn ACL

Sun, 11 Sep 2016 12:31:38 -0700

The San Diego Chargers believe WR Keenan Allen (knee) suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during their Week 1 game. He will undergo more tests to determine the severity of the injury.

Fantasy Tip: Allen would miss the rest of the 2016 season if he is diagnosed with a torn ACL, so owners should look for replacements on the waiver wire. Travis Benjamin, Dontrelle Inman and Tyrell Williams will receive bigger roles in the passing game with Allen sidelined. Benjamin could be a No. 3 receiver in most fantasy leagues, while Inman and Williams can be flex options.

Sun, 11 Sep 2016 11:22:04 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen (knee) was carted off the field during the team's Week 1 game after suffering an apparent right knee injury.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation because it appears that Allen may have suffered a serious injury. Travis Benjamin would become the No. 1 receiver for the Chargers if Allen is sidelined for an extended period of time and could be a weekly starting option for owners.

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen (rest) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Allen was receiving some time off during practice Thursday but will be fine for Week 1. He will be one of the main targets in the team's passing game this season and should be a solid No. 2 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

Chargers | Keenan Allen in top form

Thu, 18 Aug 2016 18:52:14 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen made some tough catches against Arizona Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson in a joint practice Wednesday, Aug 17.

Fantasy Tip: Allen was on his way to a monster season before a kidney injury last season, and despite some injury risk, he is worth grabbing as a WR2, especially in PPR formats.

Chargers | Keenan Allen shines in camp

Tue, 09 Aug 2016 07:26:16 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen returned to practice Monday, Aug. 8, after missing two days with a strained foot and "whipped" several defenders, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune's Tom Krasovic.

Fantasy Tip: Encouraging, especially if you're in the "Allen is going to break out" camp. Injuries are the driving concern when drafting him, but if he manages to stay healthy, the 24-year-old is a PPR phenom as a WR2 with top-five receiver upside.

Mon, 06 Jun 2016 17:14:19 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen and the Chargers have been in talks on a possible four- or five-year extension that would keep Allen around for a while, according to multiple sources. He was targeted almost 90 times and had four touchdowns in just half a year in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Allen was in line for a huge season before suffering a season-ending injury against the Baltimore Ravens halfway through the year. He totaled 67 catches for 725 yards as San Diego's No. 1 receiver. Assuming he's completely healthy this year, he'll be a solid No. 2 wideout in fantasy with more appeal in PPR leagues.

Chargers | Keenan Allen will be a focal point

Fri, 13 May 2016 12:47:47 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen will be a focal point on offense in 2016, but he will have to show he can beat man coverage against some of the better cornerbacks in the league, according to offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt.

Fantasy Tip: Allen was limited to only eight games in 2015 but was able to record 725 yards and four touchdowns during that span. Allen likely will be the top receiver for the Chargers and should be a middle-round option in most fantasy leagues.

Chargers | Keenan Allen looks to add speed

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 19:30:29 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen (kidney) completed his first day of voluntary workouts Monday, April 18. He is looking to cut weight this offseason and add speed.

Fantasy Tip: Allen was on pace for a monster season in 2015 until he suffered a lacerated kidney in Week 8 against the Baltimore Ravens. If he is able to add speed and stay healthy, he has a chance to be a Top 15 fantasy option at his position again, especially in leagues which reward points per reception (PPR).

Chargers | Keenan Allen will be fine in six weeks

Tue, 03 Nov 2015 15:02:43 -0800

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen (kidney) is expected to make a full recovery in roughly six weeks, but because the Chargers are out of playoff contention, they chose to place him on the Reserve/Injured list, ending his season, according to sources. Allen had 67 catches for 725 yards and four touchdowns through eight games.

Fantasy Tip: With Allen now out of the picture for the rest of the year, Malcom Floyd and Stevie Johnson should be owned in all fantasy formats, with Johnson having more appeal in PPR leagues. Dontrelle Inman will also see his role increase significantly and should be picked up as a consolation prize if you miss out on the first two.

Fantasy Tip: You can drop Allen in single-year formats now. Philip Rivers will now lean heavily on Malcom Floyd and Stevie Johnson, and to a lesser extent, Dontrelle Inman. Both Antonio Gates and Ladarius Green are beat up right now, but when healthy, both could be playable on FantasyScore, too.

Fantasy Tip: While it's not yet official, this could definitely end Allen's season. Make plans to replace him in traditional leagues. Stevie Johnson and Malcom Floyd will be the main beneficiaries in the passing game with Allen out, and Johnson has more appeal in PPR formats. Dontrelle Inman is worth a look, too, in deeper leagues.

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen (kidney) had a kidney procedure that wasn't surgery Tuesday, Nov. 3, and he could be out for the rest of the year, according to league sources.

Fantasy Tip: This is a huge blow to Allen owners, as he had become a point-per-reception beast with 67 catches through eight games. You shouldn't outright drop him in traditional leagues just yet, but be prepared for the worst. Stevie Johnson and Malcom Floyd will see their values on the rise big time, with Johnson having a little more intrigue in PPR leagues. Dontrelle Inman is also worth a look if you lose out on the first two.

Chargers | Keenan Allen checked into hospital

Mon, 02 Nov 2015 15:10:52 -0800

Allen is expected to miss "some time," according to head coach Mike McCoy. Allen was tied for third-most in NFL history with 67 catches through the first eight games of the season, trailing only Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (70) and Marvin Harrison (69).

Fantasy Tip: This is a potenitally serious injury for Allen that could keep him out at least a few weeks, if not more. Check back for updates on his condition as we know more. Malcom Floyd and Stevie Johnson should be picked up immediately if they are available in your leagues, with Johnson being more attractive in PPR leagues like FantasyScore. Dontrelle Inman is worth a peek in deeper formats.

Chargers | Keenan Allen staying busy

Tue, 27 Oct 2015 10:36:54 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen is the NFL leader in receptions and is second to Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins in playing time with 512 total snaps, which puts him on pace for 1,167 snaps this year. Allen played 971 snaps as a rookie and 853 last year before being injured. He's in great shape after reporting to training camp lighter.

Fantasy Tip: Allen ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) is money in the bank for point-per-reception leagues and should continue to be a beast in fantasy leagues if the Chargers throw the ball often. Consider Allen a strong play yet again against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Allen ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) was a question mark all week due to a hip injury, but he didn't appear to aggravate the injury or be limited in any way. He is a must-play in FantasyScore due to his heavy amount of targets and receptions.

Chargers | Keenan Allen questionable

Fri, 23 Oct 2015 13:08:46 -0700

Updating a previous report, San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen (hip) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 23, and is listed as questionable for the Week 7 game against the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Allen ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) appears to have a chance to play after taking part in practice, but owners will want to check the inactive list. He will be a risky option for owners on FantasyScore but does have a favorable matchup if he plays in the game.

Chargers | Keenan Allen limited in practice

Fri, 23 Oct 2015 11:51:46 -0700

Updating a previous report, San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen (hip) was limited in practice Friday, Oct. 23. "I don't feel like I've lost a step or anything," Allen said.

Fantasy Tip: Allen ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) is likely to be questionable this weekend against the Oakland Raiders. With a late game Sunday, we don't blame you if you're avoiding Allen entirely, but if he's on the field he should continue to see plenty of targets from Philip Rivers, especially if Antonio Gates (knee) sits out.
