Steelers | Le'Veon Bell runs for 179 yards, TD

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 19:33:29 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell rushed 32 times for 179 yards and a touchdown in the Week 6 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He also added three grabs for 12 yards on six targets.

Fantasy Tip: This is the Bell fantasy owners have been waiting for. After a slow start following his missing of training camp and the preseason, it took him a while to get on track. He had his biggest game against the best opponent the team has faced so far, and that's scary news for the rest of the league.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell could receive franchise tag again

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 09:42:53 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is likely to receive the franchise tag from the team next season, even though both sides will continue to work on a possible contract extension. Bell is reportedly seeking a multi-year deal worth $15 million annually but the Steelers are unlikely to offer him that much money, according to multiple sources.

Fantasy Tip: Bell has gotten off to a sluggish start this year after missing the entire preseason due to a contract dispute, with just one 100-yard rushing performance to date. That being said, the 25-year-old should still be viewed as a RB1 in all fantasy formats regardless of the opponent.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell totals 93 yards

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 14:05:47 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell rushed 15 times for 47 yards in Week 5 against the Jacksonville Jaguars and he added 10 receptions for 46 yards.

Fantasy Tip: The total yards from scrimmage is fine, but he failed to find the end zone for the third time in five games, and he has just one 100-yard rushing game to date. That's not exactly what fantasy owners expected from the first-round pick. He'll look for better results in Week 6, but faces a tough matchup in Kansas City.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell primed for big game?

Sat, 07 Oct 2017 19:02:58 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell faces the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5, and the Jaguars' run defense is ranked last in yards per attempt and yards per game and has allowed the third-most rushing touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: Bell finally looked like himself last week, piling up 186 total yards and two scores. A repeat performance could be on tap against Jacksonville's porous run defense, and Bell has a good chance to finish as the top fantasy back in Week 5.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell finally has big game

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 18:51:09 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell carried 35 times for 144 yards and two touchdowns in Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens and he added four catches for 42 yards on six targets.

Fantasy Tip: This is the type of production Bell's fantasy owners have been patiently waiting for, as he had been performing nowhere close to expectation. He'll look to keep it rolling in Week 5 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell will be in uniform

Fri, 29 Sep 2017 12:24:25 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 29, and is not on the injury report for Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Bell has gotten off to a slow start this season and is averaging only 3.5 yards per carry. He will continue to receive a significant amount of touches in the running and passing game. He can be considered a solid No. 1 fantasy running back against the Baltimore Ravens.

Thu, 28 Sep 2017 14:22:16 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (non-injury) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Bell has struggled during the early part of the season but will continue to be a big part of the Steelers offense moving forward. He should still be considered a No. 1 running back in fantasy leagues.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell absent Wednesday

Wed, 27 Sep 2017 13:02:03 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (non-injury related) was not at practice Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Fantasy Tip: There was no indication as to why Bell did not practice, but it very well could have just been rest. Either way, look for any update on Bell's status as the week progresses. He's an automatic start when active.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell totals 98 yards, score

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 17:06:59 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell carried 15 times for 61 yards and a touchdown in Week 3 against the Chicago Bears and he added six receptions for 37 yards on seven receptions.

Fantasy Tip: Bell didn't have a monster day, but it was easily his most productive of the season from a fantasy perspective. He'll look to keep things trending in the right direction heading into Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell ready for big game?

Sat, 23 Sep 2017 20:47:54 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is ready to return to form in Week 3 against the Chicago Bears, according to C Maurkice Pouncey and OG David DeCastro. "We have to do a better job of locking on guys and making sure he can get one-on-one and most of the time he beats that guy," Pouncey said.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Bell continues to struggle with efficiency against the Bears, the promise of a huge workload as Pittsburgh's lead back should ensure a decent stat line. Continue to treat him as a RB1.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell sees more work in Week 2

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 15:02:16 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell rushed for 87 yards on 27 carries against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Bell received a lot more carries this week but was not able to rush for more than 11 yards on any play. He is working his way back after missing the entire preseason and should be a No. 1 running back against the Chicago Bears next week.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell not sure of role

Fri, 15 Sep 2017 21:24:10 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell did not line up as a receiver in four-receiver sets in Week 1, and Bell said he is unsure if he will continue to come off the field in those packages going forward.

Fantasy Tip: Bell sat out training camp, so there is a chance the coaching staff was trying to limit his snaps and ease him back into the mix. It will be something to watch going forward, but it shouldn't stop fantasy owners from deploying Bell as a RB1 against the Vikings in Week 2.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell held in check

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 13:10:23 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell rushed for 32 yards on 10 carries against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1. He also caught three passes for 15 yards in the game.

Fantasy Tip: Bell skipped the entire preseason because of his contract situation and it showed in Week 1. He should post better numbers moving forward and will be a No. 1 fantasy running back most weeks.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell to be heavily involved in Week 1

Fri, 08 Sep 2017 09:53:57 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell should see "close to a full workload" in Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, Sept. 10.

Fantasy Tip: This is only notable because Bell reported to the team on Sept. 1. Regardless of whether or not Bell is heavily involved this weekend, he's a poor bet to play all 16 games with his usual workloads given the fact he was not with the team all summer - even as good of shape as he keeps himself in. James Conner appears to be his handcuff and needs to be held onto throughout the season.

Steelers | Mike Tomlin 'comfortable' with James Conner

Tue, 05 Sep 2017 10:15:16 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie RB James Conner has shown enough that head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters he would be comfortable with him should Le'Veon Bell does not or cannot take all the snaps at running back.

Fantasy Tip: Given Bell's injury history and the fact he reported to the team so late, this is actually a fairly big deal. As long as we can take Tomlin at his word (and history says we can), Conner will be one of the more valuable handcuffs in fantasy. Do not hesitate to pick him up in your league if he is somehow available or wait too long to select him as a high-upside option late in drafts.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell in shape

Tue, 05 Sep 2017 09:04:54 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is in "great physical condition," according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

Fantasy Tip: Bell has been one of better-conditioned athletes since he made his physical transformation following his rookie season, so this isn't a surprise. The question is whether or not he can reach "football shape" anytime soon. Players who miss a significant portion of training camp and/or the preseason seem to be more prone to soft-tissue injuries than those who do, so Bell's owners would be wise to stock up on other options to protect themselves. Whenever Bell suits up, he is an elite RB1.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell ready for workload

Mon, 04 Sep 2017 11:25:59 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell said he's prepared for a full workload in Week 1 despite being winded in practice Monday, Sept. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Bell has a tremendous matchup on Sunday versus the Cleveland Browns. He has owned the Browns in his career, averaging more than 100 rushing yards per game. He's a candidate for the top running back play this week.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell signs tender

Mon, 04 Sep 2017 07:32:24 -0700

Updating previous reports, Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell signed his franchise tender Monday, Sept. 4. The team will have to make a roster move to activate him for Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is an elite RB1, and he's worth consideration in the first half of the first round of PPR drafts.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell passes physical

Fri, 01 Sep 2017 17:58:57 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell passed his physical Friday, Sept. 1, and is expected to participate in practice Monday, Sept. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Bell missed the entire preseason because of his contract situation but will have a week of practice to prepare for Week 1. He will have a big role in the team's offense this season and likely will be a top-two pick in all fantasy drafts.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell arrives at camp

Fri, 01 Sep 2017 08:58:38 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell arrived at the team facility Friday, Sept. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Bell's holdout appears over, and he enters the season healthy. However, one must consider how much rust he'll have since he hasn't taken a hit since last year. He remains an elite PPR back.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell to return Sept. 1?

Tue, 22 Aug 2017 20:10:04 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell hinted Tuesday, Aug. 22, on his Twitter account that he plans on signing his franchise tag and reporting to the team on Friday, Sept. 1.

Fantasy Tip: While far from official, his current and future owners may be able to breathe a sigh of relief. Having said that, Bell is giving himself less than 10 days to prepare for the regular season. While his track record speaks to his ability to keep himself in good shape, long absences away from training camp tend not to end well for the player. Owners will probably still draft him No. 1 or No. 2 overall, but they should do so with a healthy amount of skepticism that he'll last the season.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell expected after preseason Week 3

Mon, 21 Aug 2017 06:41:21 -0700

Updating previous reports, Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is expected to sign his franchise tender and report shortly after the third preseason game, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is a PPR beast, but he has missed significant time the last two years due to injury and suspension. He's one of the top handful of backs in fantasy with the usual risks.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell turned down huge five-year offer

Fri, 18 Aug 2017 11:49:47 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell, who has yet to report to training camp, reportedly turned down a five-year contract extension averaging more than $12 million per year annually that his agent and the team had agreed upon right before the July 17 NFL deadline for franchise players to sign long-term deals.

Fantasy Tip: It has already been reported that Bell intends to report to camp in the coming days, but Bell's desire to reset the market for running backs may ultimately end up hurting him. While he does have a history of keeping himself in good shape and coming back from long layoffs, the history of players - especially running backs - missing most of camp and holding up for the season is not great. At this point, a compelling case can be made to slide Bell down fantasy draft boards every so slightly.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell to report before season

Thu, 17 Aug 2017 10:27:30 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell will report to the Steelers prior to the commencement of the regular season, although it is unclear exactly when he will report, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Bell continues to wait for a long-term deal after being tagged this offseason. Nevertheless, he will return to the field as arguably the best running back in the game. He has to be one of the first two players taken off the board in any format.

Steelers | Coach talking with Le'Veon Bell

Wed, 09 Aug 2017 15:09:40 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said he has been in contact with RB Le'Veon Bell during his holdout but does not have an update on when Bell will report. Bell is working out in South Florida and may report to the team in late August.

Fantasy Tip: Bell probably does not need a lot of practice time before he plays in a game, so he likely will skip most of the preseason. Bell has dealt with injuries during his career but is one of the top running backs in the NFL when healthy. He should be a first-round pick in all leagues and could be selected with the first-overall pick.

Steelers | James Conner soaking up reps

Sat, 29 Jul 2017 21:28:38 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner said he is excited to receive first-team reps while RB Le'Veon Bell holds out from training camp, and he is focused on mastering the playbook.

Fantasy Tip: Bell will be the workhorse back as long as he is healthy, but Conner is a solid handcuff to grab in the later rounds. He would likely step into a big role if Bell goes down.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell to face consequences?

Fri, 28 Jul 2017 07:48:57 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell will face consequences for not signing his franchise tag tender and missing training camp, according to head coach Mike Tomlin. "There is no question we are a group that values the team-building process," Tomlin said Thursday, July 27. "And doing it in this setting, so yes, there is value, and yes, there are consequences for not being here. That's the reality of it." Pittsburgh cannot fine Bell for his absence because he has not signed his tender. "They're untold as we sit here," Tomlin said, when asked about the nature of those consequences.

Fantasy Tip: ... Uh, sure thing. If that isn't the ultimate coach speak, what is? Tomlin is simply trying to put public pressure on his star running back to sign the franchise tender and get onto the field with his teammates. Our best guess is that the issue will be resolved sooner than later. Regardless, unless it lingers into the regular season, Bell is barely affected by missing camp and is a top-three pick in all formats.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell not reporting to camp

Thu, 27 Jul 2017 13:20:13 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell will not report to training camp as he has not signed his franchise tender.

Fantasy Tip: As has been well documented, Bell wants to be paid. Quite frankly, he deserves to be paid. He's arguably the best running back in the NFL when he's healthy or not suspended. Assuming Bell eventually shows up and doesn't hold out into the season, draft him with one of the first three picks, especially in PPR formats.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell a workhorse in 2016

Sat, 22 Jul 2017 09:27:18 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell was suspended for the first three games of the 2016 season, but once he returned, he received 85.6 percent of the team's carries and 21.6 percent of the team's targets over the final 13 games of the regular season.

Fantasy Tip: Needless to say, that kind of workload is highly unusual for a running back in today's game and does not figure to be repeated anytime soon. Assuming Ben Roethlisberger, Martavis Bryant and Antonio Brown all stay healthy for the bulk of this season, expect the aforementioned percentages to dip into the 70- and 15-percent ranges, respectively. That still plenty of work to keep Bell in the conversation among the top three picks of any fantasy draft.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell will play in Week 1

Thu, 20 Jul 2017 18:15:18 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell hasn't committed to reporting to training camp on time, but he plans to play in every regular season game.

Fantasy Tip: Bell could skip some of camp as he lobbies for a lucrative long-term extension, but with no plans to take a holdout into the regular season, he remains a candidate for the No. 1 overall pick in all formats.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell looking to be paid like RB, WR

Wed, 19 Jul 2017 17:48:09 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell said he is looking for a deal that will pay him like a No. 1 running back plus a No. 2 wide receiver, according to NFL Network analyst Ike Taylor.

Fantasy Tip: Bell finished fifth in the NFL with his 1,268 rushing yards in 2016, and his 75 receptions ranked second on the team. He will remain with the Steelers for at least one more season and should be a No. 1 running back in all fantasy leagues as long as he joins the team before Week 1.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell had big offer

Tue, 18 Jul 2017 11:54:28 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell was given an offer that would have averaged $12 million per year. He would have earned $30 million over the first two years and $42 million over three years, according to sources. The franchise tag he will play under in 2017 is worth $12.1 million.

Fantasy Tip: Bell apparently wants more over the next several years of his career. He deserves it as arguably the best running back in the NFL. He does have a history of suspensions, but he remains a No. 1 overall pick candidate.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell may sit out camp

Mon, 17 Jul 2017 16:13:39 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell may not sign his franchise tag tender until the Steelers break training camp, in the opinion of an unnamed teammate.

Fantasy Tip: Bell was not able to agree to a long-term extension, so he may not report to the team until close to the start of the regular season. Bell will continue to be a main part of the Steelers offense and is a first-round pick in all fantasy leagues.

Steelers | No extension for Le'Veon Bell

Mon, 17 Jul 2017 13:32:16 -0700

Pitssburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell will play the 2017 season under the franchise tag if/when he signs it. He is not obligated to show up for training camp since he has not signed the tag.

Fantasy Tip: Bell will show up eventually. Missing training camp and time with the team is expensive. This does not affect his draft stock, at least not for this year. He should be one of the first players off draft boards.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell still negotiating

Mon, 17 Jul 2017 08:17:25 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell continues to negotiate a contract in the final hours before the deadline players receiving the franchise tag can sign a deal Monday, July 17.

Fantasy Tip: Bell remains a stud RB1 with enhanced value in PPR leagues.

Steelers | Nothing close between PIT, Le'Veon Bell

Sun, 16 Jul 2017 13:07:47 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is not close to an agreement on a long-term contract with the Steelers at this point. The Steelers have until Monday, July 17, to sign Bell to a multi-year deal.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation because Bell could consider sitting out training camp if he does not have a contract. He is one of the top running backs in the NFL and should be a first-round pick in all leagues as long as he is with the team for Week 1.

Steelers | Pittsburgh to ramp up Le'Veon Bell talks

Fri, 14 Jul 2017 12:37:35 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is due to make $12.1 million in 2017 if he plays the season under the franchise tag, but the team hopes to "press" negotiations over the weekend as the sides head toward the deadline to sign franchise players to long-term deals Monday, July 17.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is due to make roughly $4 million more than any other running back in the league if he plays under the tag this season, which obviously isn't helping things progress any quicker. Still, the 25-year-old is as good of a back as there is in the league and a great fit in the Steelers' offense, so look for both sides to make an honest attempt to get a deal done. Bell is a strong top-three pick in virtually all fantasy drafts.

Steelers | Deadline deal for Le'Veon Bell?

Thu, 13 Jul 2017 18:48:50 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell's extension talks could go down to the July 17 deadline, according to Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and Fittipaldo believes both sides have enough incentive to work out a long-term deal.

Fantasy Tip: Regardless of whether or not an extension is worked out, Bell enters the season as the workhorse of Pittsburgh's backfield. He should be a top-three pick in standard formats and a top-two pick in PPR leagues.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell feeling good

Sat, 01 Jul 2017 11:43:10 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (groin) has been training in Los Angeles this offseason and said he is feeling healthy after he underwent groin surgery earlier this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: The Steelers have a few weeks to try to sign Bell to a long-term contract, but he should be at training camp even if an agreement is not reached. Bell will continue to be a major factor on offense for the Steelers and should be a first-round pick in all fantasy leagues.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell 50-50 to sign deal

Tue, 27 Jun 2017 07:50:16 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell signing a long-term deal could go either way, according to ESPN insider Adam Schefter. Both sides have motivation to get it done, but there's no deal in sight for now.

Fantasy Tip: Bell remains an elite option in PPR leagues, but he's no longer the clear-cut No. 1 fantasy running back. Injuries and suspensions have made his stock murky, but the PPR luster is still very evident.

Mon, 26 Jun 2017 06:14:25 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (groin) posted a video of him playing basketball over the weekend after having core surgery in the offseason.

Fantasy Tip: It's a good sign that he's near full strength in the weeks preceding training camp. Bell has fallen from the top running back option in fantasy over the last couple of years, but he's one of the first names to consider after David Johnson in PPR leagues.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell extension iffy before deadline?

Tue, 20 Jun 2017 13:10:30 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell has a 50% chance of agreeing to a long-term extension before the July 17 deadline, in the opinion of Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports. La Canfora cites Bell's history of injuries and suspensions as logical reasons to take a year-by-year approach with Bell. Plus, Bell counts $12 million against the Steelers' salary cap.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is arguably the best running back in football, but $12 million is a steep price to pay for a running back, no matter how good they are. Deal or not, it would behoove owners with a top three draft pick to select Bell.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell's workload being discussed

Thu, 15 Jun 2017 20:54:40 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell's workload has been a topic of conversation for the coaching staff, according to offensive coordinator Todd Haley. "He's a guy who gets stronger every game," Haley said. "He does not want to come out of the game. He's a year older. We've got to make sure we cover all of that, which we will and do as a staff."

Fantasy Tip: Bell is one of the true workhorse backs left in the NFL, and he is also one of the most versatile backs. Expect him to see all the touches he can handle again in 2017, and he should be one of the first two players selected in drafts.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell may miss minicamp

Wed, 31 May 2017 13:23:33 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell could skip the rest of organized team activities and the team's minicamp because he still has not signed his franchise tender, according to sources. Bell and the team has had some discussions about a long-term deal, but neither side seems worried about the situation at this point.

Fantasy Tip: The Steelers have about six weeks to sign Bell to a long-term deal, so owners should monitor the situation. Bell is one of the best running backs in the NFL and will be a first-round pick in all fantasy leagues.

Steelers | Pitt, Le'Veon Bell talking long-term deal

Thu, 02 Mar 2017 14:45:58 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell and the Steelers are heavily involved in negotiations on a long-term deal, according to a source. Terms of the possible deal were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Don't be surprised if Bell becomes the highest paid running back in the NFL. In seasons in which Bell has played at least 12 games, he has averaged 1,786.0 total yards and 9.3 total touchdowns. Bell deserves to be one of the first few players, maybe even the first player, taken in fantasy drafts this year.
