Redskins | Jordan Reed lands on IR

Tue, 12 Dec 2017 13:14:28 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Dec. 12.

Fantasy Tip: It was another mostly forgettable season for the oft-injured tight end. As talented as Reed is he's even more prone to injury. He's simply not worth the risk of drafting in the first few rounds as a starting tight end.

Redskins | Jordan Reed to miss another game

Fri, 08 Dec 2017 13:01:39 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 8, and has been ruled out for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Vernon Davis will remain in the starting lineup with Reed sidelined but has struggled over the last two games. He has been a solid part of the passing game while Reed has been out and could be a possible low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues.

Redskins | Jordan Reed misses yet another practice

Thu, 07 Dec 2017 16:16:23 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) was once again not at practice Thursday, Dec. 7.

Fantasy Tip: This is no surprise, as Reed hasn't played in a game since the end of October and he's already been ruled out for this week's contest with the Chargers. Vernon Davis will continue to start in his place, but due to his lack of production lately, he's a risky option for Week 14, especially with third-stringer Niles Paul doubling his number of targets in the last two ballgames.

Redskins | No practice for Jordan Reed

Wed, 06 Dec 2017 15:16:32 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is not expected to play this week, so Vernon Davis will receive another start at tight end. He has been struggling recently with only two catches and 15 yards over the last two games. He will be facing a tough Los Angeles Chargers defense and may not be a great fantasy option.

Redskins | Jordan Reed to miss Week 14

Wed, 06 Dec 2017 11:07:26 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 14 versus the Los Angeles Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: It's beginning to look more and more like Reed will not return this season, as he had a setback in Week 10 and hasn't been close to returning since. Unfortunately for owners of Vernon Davis, Kirk Cousins is running for his life more often than not behind Washington's injury-ravaged offensive line and isn't waiting for him to get open downfield. There's little reason to believe in Davis this week.

Redskins | Jordan Reed misses practice Monday

Mon, 04 Dec 2017 11:05:51 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) was not spotted at practice Monday, Dec. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has not practiced since Week 10 and this news suggests he is on track to miss another game. Vernon Davis would be in line to start, but he has seemingly fell out of favor in this offense over the last two weeks and should not start in most leagues as a result.

Redskins | Jordan Reed to miss Week 13

Wed, 29 Nov 2017 11:45:10 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 13 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Tip: Although the fact Washington is playing its third game in 12 days hasn't helped his cause to get back on the field, Reed doesn't seem particularly close to a return anyway. He has not logged a practice since Week 10, and the odds of him returning for a couple of games in late December with the Redskins likely out of the playoff race seems pointless. Despite his hard-to-explain bagel on Thanksgiving, Vernon Davis remains very much in the TE1 conversation.

Redskins | Washington's injury report for Week 13

Wed, 29 Nov 2017 10:58:36 -0800

Washington Redskins DL Terrell McClain (toe), S Montae Nicholson (concussion), TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) and C Chase Roullier (hand) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 29, and have been ruled out for Week 13 against the Dallas Cowboys. LB Zach Brown (shoulder, Achilles'), DL Matt Ioannidis (hand, ankle), OT Morgan Moses (knee, ankles), OT Ty Nsekhe (core), OG Brandon Scherff (knee), LB Martrell Spaight (ankle) and OT Trent Williams (knee) were all limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 29, and are listed as questionable. WR Jamison Crowder (back, knee) and RB Samaje Perine (finger) fully participated in practice Wednesday and no longer appear on the injury report. DL Anthony Lanier (knee) did not practice Wednesday, but he has also been removed from the injury report.

Redskins | Jordan Reed still absent from practice

Tue, 28 Nov 2017 10:12:18 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) did not participate in practice Tuesday, Nov. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has not practice since aggravating his hamstring injury in practice prior to Week 10 and appears a near-lock to miss his fifth straight game. Normally, this would be great news for owners of Vernon Davis, but he did not appear to be part of the game plan at all in a juicy Thanksgiving Day matchup against the New York Giants last week. With that said, Davis has historically done well anytime Reed has been out, so owners should give him another shot Thursday against the Dallas Cowboys.

Redskins | Jordan Reed misses practice

Mon, 27 Nov 2017 13:39:36 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) was not able to practice Monday, Nov. 27.

Fantasy Tip: With five weeks left in the season, we're getting close to crunch time for Reed returning to action. He's as fragile as they come and it may behoove Washington to shut him down for the season, especially with such a capable backup in Vernon Davis. Davis disappointed last week, but he remains a TE1 candidate in Week 13 assuming Reed is out.

Redskins | Still no timetable for Jordan Reed

Fri, 24 Nov 2017 20:54:04 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) still doesn't have a timetable for his return, head coach Jay Gruden said Friday, Nov. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Reed simply can't stay on the field, and given his injury history, it wouldn't be a big surprise if he misses the remainder of the season. Until he is back on the field, Vernon Davis is a TE1 candidate.

Redskins | Jordan Reed ruled out Week 12

Wed, 22 Nov 2017 10:41:50 -0800

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) will not play in the team's Week 12 Thanksgiving night game against the New York Giants.

Fantasy Tip: For some reason, head coach Jay Gruden labeled Reed a game-time decision about an hour ago, but the team has since corrected the injury report. A strong case can be made for making Vernon Davis a top-five play at tight end this week, as the Giants have coughed up the most PPR fantasy points to tight ends and have surrendered a league-high 10 touchdowns to the position.

Redskins | Jordan Reed could be game-time decision

Wed, 22 Nov 2017 10:33:31 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) has been listed as questionable for Week 12 and could be one of "seven or eight game-time decisions" for the team's Thanksgiving night game against the New York Giants, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Reed didn't practice Monday or Tuesday and hasn't played since Week 8, so it would seem foolish to throw him out there on a short week. Assuming that is the case, Vernon Davis is a very good TE1 play against a Giants defense that has been routinely shredded by tight ends.

Redskins | No practice for Jordan Reed

Tue, 21 Nov 2017 14:18:57 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) was held out of practice Tuesday, Nov. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Vernon Davis has once again filled in splendidly for Reed. With the Redskins playing on a short week, don't be surprised to see Reed sit again. If that is the case, Davis can be started as a low-end TE1.

Redskins | Jordan Reed does not practice

Mon, 20 Nov 2017 13:35:13 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) did not participate in practice Monday, Nov. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Reed probably will miss another week since the Redskins play on Thanksgiving. Vernon Davis will continue to be the starting tight end while Reed is sidelined and can be considered a No. 1 fantasy tight end this week against the New York Giants.

Redskins | Jordan Reed to miss another game

Fri, 17 Nov 2017 10:40:58 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 11 versus the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: Reed reportedly had a setback last week and will miss his third consecutive game, setting up Vernon Davis to be a low-end fantasy TE1 yet again. The Saints have been among the best in the league defending the position, but Davis has typically been very solid in fantasy any time he's been needed to fill in for Reed. With Washington's next game coming on Thanksgiving night, it seems likely Reed will miss at least one more game.

Redskins | Jordan Reed status unknown

Fri, 17 Nov 2017 05:28:29 -0800

Updating previous reports, Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) said he's day to day but doesn't know if he'll be able to play in Week 11. Reed reinjured his hamstring last week while decelerating, and he feels discomfort whenever he slows down after running.

Fantasy Tip: The Redskins have a four-day turnaround after Week 11, which means Reed could very well sit this weekend and have a chance to play Thanksgiving Day. Vernon Davis could be a low-end TE1 after two strong weeks, despite the tough matchup against the New Orleans Saints.

Redskins | Jordan Reed does not practice

Thu, 16 Nov 2017 14:59:03 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Reed probably will miss another game because of his injury, but owners should check on his final status later in the week. Vernon Davis would start this week if Reed sits again and could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in most leagues.

Redskins | Jordan Reed misses practice

Wed, 15 Nov 2017 12:09:53 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) was not able to practice Wednesday, Nov. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Don't be surprised if Reed can't play again this week. The Redskins don't want to risk him aggravating his hamstring injury and they have the capable Vernon Davis ready to start. If Reed is sidelined then Davis can be started as a TE1.

Sun, 12 Nov 2017 05:46:10 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) is not expected to play in Week 10's game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: Reed was listed as questionable on the injury report but missed practice Friday, Nov. 10, after serving as a limited participant during the team's two other practice sessions earlier in the week. TE Vernon Davis should be considered a low-end TE1 in all fantasy formats if Reed is deactivated.

Fri, 10 Nov 2017 11:45:35 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) did not practice Friday, Nov. 10, and is listed as questionable on the injury report in advance of the team's game versus the Minnesota Vikings in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Reed was able to practice on a limited basis Wednesday and Thursday before getting the day off on Friday. The injury was expected to sideline him multiple weeks and this would be his second straight absence. If he sits, Vernon Davis should be considered a low-end TE1.

Redskins | Jordan Reed listed as limited

Thu, 09 Nov 2017 15:16:24 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 9.

Redskins | Jordan Reed gets in individual work Wednesday

Wed, 08 Nov 2017 11:12:10 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) took part in individual drills Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Fantasy Tip: It is a positive sign for Reed since he did next to nothing in practice last week, but he's far from a sure bet to suit up in Week 10 against the Minnesota Vikings. A strong case can be made Vernon Davis was doing enough to be considered a regular fantasy starter in deeper leagues even when Reed was healthy, and he'll be a solid option again should Washington choose to hold out Reed at least one more week.

Redskins | Jordan Reed day-to-day

Mon, 06 Nov 2017 13:16:58 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) is making progress in his recovery and is considered day-to-day, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Reed's status for Week 10 likely will depend on what he can do during practice this week, so owners should know more at the end of the week. Reed is one of the better tight ends in the NFL but has been a risky fantasy option because of his injury history. Owners will need other options available in case Reed is not ready to play.

Redskins | Jordan Reed ruled out

Fri, 03 Nov 2017 11:23:32 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) will not play in Week 9 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: The Redskins are likely looking at a multiple-week absence here, putting Vernon Davis on the TE1 map. Davis' Week 9 stock is further helped by the likelihood Seattle all-world safety Earl Thomas is unlikely to play with his own hamstring issues. As such, Davis should be started with confidence.

Redskins | Jordan Reed misses practice

Wed, 01 Nov 2017 14:54:16 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) was not able to practice Wednesday, Nov. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is expected to miss the Redskins' Week 9 contest, which means Vernon Davis would take his place with the starting unit. Davis has proven himself as a capable backup and provides fantasy owners with a sneaky starting option and a cheap daily fantasy play.

Redskins | Jordan Reed unlikely to play

Mon, 30 Oct 2017 12:26:46 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) is not expected to play in Week 9, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Death, taxes and Jordan Reed injuries. After breaking out big time in Week 7, Reed succumbed to yet another injury on Sunday. If Reed is indeed sidelined this upcoming weekend then Vernon Davis will take over as the starting tight end again. He is a sneaky start and a worthwhile pickup if available.

Redskins | Jordan Reed doesn't return

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 19:33:01 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) did not return against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8 after suffering a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Tip: Given the sloppy conditions, it was no surprise to see Reed held out for the remainder of the game. The question now becomes whether the injury will keep him out any additional games. Reed owners will have to play the waiting game, and Vernon Davis will be a potential TE1 for Week 9.

Redskins | Jordan Reed questionable to return

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 14:52:21 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) left the Week 8 game against the Dallas Cowboys in the first half due to a hamstring injury and he is questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is such a talented player, but his propensity for injury makes him a major headache for fantasy owners. It's hard to envision Reed returning, as there are rainy and slippery conditions in Washington which might factor into the team's decision to allow him back in.

Redskins | Jordan Reed enjoys vintage performance

Mon, 23 Oct 2017 22:06:27 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed posted season highs across the board in the team's Week 7 game Monday, Oct. 23, against the Philadelphia Eagles, logging eight catches on 10 targets for 64 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: Where has this been all year? Owners who drafted Jordan Reed had to be excited about getting one of the best tight ends in all of football, but it took seven weeks for their investment to finally deliver what used to be a trademark performance for the five-year veteran. Additionally, tonight's two scores were miraculously the first two for Reed this season. Hopefully this will get him going after being a big disappointment early on.

Redskins | Jordan Reed held in check in return

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 19:15:52 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed finished with four catches for 37 yards in a 26-24 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has yet to reach 50 receiving yards in a game this season, and Kirk Cousins continues to spread the ball around to several targets. Continue to start Reed when he is healthy, but high-end TE1 production may be too much to expect.

Redskins | Jordan Reed not 100 percent

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 12:54:07 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (rib, sternum) said he is not completely healthy but will be able to play against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Reed was held to three passes and 21 yards last week and may continue to be limited by his injuries. He is not on the injury report for Week 6 and can still be a fantasy option, but owners should not expect a big game from Reed.

Redskins | Jordan Reed posts dud on Monday night

Mon, 02 Oct 2017 21:32:35 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed had his most disappointing game of the young season Monday, Oct. 2, opposite the Kansas City Chiefs, registering only three catches on five targets for 21 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Uh oh. Those who owned Reed last year might remember he had some games where he played injured and ended up contributing absolutely zilch. This Monday Night Football contest served as a harsh reminder of that, as Reed was playing through chest and rib issues in this one, en route to providing his owners virtually nothing. Thus, it's mandatory to monitor his health over the upcoming week, and if he's still playing hurt in Week 5, it might be wise to bench him despite his status as an elite TE1.

Fantasy Tip: Reed returns to the starting lineup after missing last week, but it is not known if he will be limited by the injury. He will be a risky option for owners but can still be a starting option if owners have him.

Redskins | Jordan Reed confident about status

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (rib, sternum) said he believes he will be able to play in Week 4. Head coach Jay Gruden said Reed's availability will be determined by his pain tolerance.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is a risky option for owners this week because of the injury and that he is playing on Monday Night Football, which limits tight end options if Reed sits out. Owners can consider benching Reed this week if they have other options available.
