Redskins | Jordan Reed back at practice soon?

Thu, 17 Aug 2017 13:33:58 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) said he's hoping to return to practice either Monday, Aug. 21, or Tuesday, Aug. 22. Reed added that the orthotics he's been wearing have helped his toe injury.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is one of the more frustrating players in fantasy football. He's a top-tier tight end when healthy, but he's as fragile as china too. If he's at full health entering the season, he's worthy of being drafted as a high-end TE1 with more value in PPR leagues.

Redskins | Jordan Reed had a fracture

Mon, 14 Aug 2017 07:39:00 -0700

Updating previous reports, Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) disclosed that he had a fracture in his toe Sunday, Aug. 13. "It's the cleats more than anything," Reed said. "The cleats prior to this were more narrow and pressing on the bone that I had the fracture in. These cleats are wider and the orthotics are softer so I don't feel it."

Fantasy Tip: Reed is expected back before the start of the season. He's a legit TE1 in fantasy, but his propensity for injuries require a high-upside backup behind him.

Redskins | Jordan Reed expects to return soon

Sun, 13 Aug 2017 15:55:12 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) said his new cleats and orthotics have made a difference with his sprained big toe. He is still on the Physically Unable to Perform list but expects to start practicing soon.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to see when Reed will be able to return to practice. Reed is one of the better fantasy tight ends but continues to be a risky option because of his injury history. He can be a No. 1 tight end for owners this season but they should have a strong backup in case he misses time.

Redskins | Jordan Reed to be reevaluated soon

Sat, 12 Aug 2017 13:07:20 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) will be reevaluated after the preseason game against the Green Bay Packers, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has not participated in practice since the start of training camp because of his toe injury, so owners will know more about his status after the evaluation. He is one of the better fantasy tight ends when healthy but he has struggled with injuries during his career. Reed should be considered a No. 1 tight end in all leagues if he is healthy for Week 1.

Redskins | Jordan Reed to try out new footwear

Sat, 12 Aug 2017 10:55:42 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) received special orthotics for his left cleat and will test it out for the next couple days, according to head coach Jay Gruden, who added the team will take a look at how Reed is doing after the team's next preseason game against the Green Bay Packers on Saturday, Aug. 19.

Fantasy Tip: If Reed could ever stay healthy for a full season, he could easily make a claim to be one of the top three tight ends in the game. As it stands right now, Reed is expected to be ready for Week 1, but he is a poor bet to stay healthy all season, making him a risky pick before the end of the fifth round.

Redskins | Jordan Reed should be ready

Sat, 05 Aug 2017 19:58:58 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) is expected to be ready for Week 1, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Reed's injury history is tough to ignore, but so is his production when he is healthy. Grab him as a TE1 and cross your fingers he plays most of the year.

Redskins | Jordan Reed dealing with side effects

Thu, 03 Aug 2017 19:05:23 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) said Thursday, Aug. 3, that his current absence is related to a stem-cell treatment used to address a toe injury that has been bothering him since the end of last season.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has as much upside as any tight end not named Rob Gronkowski, but he is a strong gust of wind away from his next injury. Despite the risk, Reed is worth grabbing as a top-five option at his position.

Redskins | Jordan Reed's injury not serious

Wed, 02 Aug 2017 14:10:05 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) does not have a serious toe injury, according to head coach Jay Gruden. Reed recently visited a toe specialist.

Fantasy Tip: The injury might not be serious, but Reed's injury history is well documented. As has been stated, he's the prototypical high-risk, high-reward player. Drafting Reed as a top-three tight end, especially in PPR leagues, is logical, but tread carefully.

Redskins | Jordan Reed visiting specialist

Tue, 01 Aug 2017 12:13:12 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) is seeing a specialist about his toe injury, according to head coach Jay Gruden. There is no timetable yet for his return.

Fantasy Tip: Reed and injuries go together like water and wetness. We don't know if he'll miss actual regular season games yet, but this is a good reminder of the tight end's fragility. Reed is a high-risk, high-reward player who can finish as a top tight end, but his asking price (third round) may be too high considering the injury history.

Redskins | Twisted ankle for Jordan Reed?

Thu, 27 Jul 2017 13:39:23 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe, ankle) may have twisted his ankle overcompensating for his toe ailment, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Reed isn't expected to miss much time, but Washington doesn't want to risk any setbacks with Reed either. He has a substantial injury history and needs to be ready when the games count. If there aren't any setbacks, Reed remains a top three- to-five fantasy consideration at tight end.

Redskins | Jordan Reed's toe not a big issue

Thu, 27 Jul 2017 09:05:21 -0700

Updating previous reports, Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed's (toe) injury isn't a big concern to the team, and he's expected to return during the preseason.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is a legit TE1 when he's healthy, but that is like catching lightning in a bottle in recent years.

Redskins | Jordan Reed has toe injury

Wed, 26 Jul 2017 16:12:22 -0700

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list because of significant toe soreness, according to a team spokesperson. He will be evaluated further before he is cleared to practice because the team wants to avoid any possible long-term injury.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation to see how long Reed will be sidelined because of this toe injury. Reed is a bit of a risky option for owners because of his injury history but is a No. 1 fantasy tight end when he is healthy.

Redskins | Jordan Reed placed on PUP list

Wed, 26 Jul 2017 14:44:14 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (undisclosed) was placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Wednesday, July 26.

Fantasy Tip: Reed can return to practice at any point during training camp, so owners should monitor the situation. He has dealt with injuries during his career but has been a very successful play when he is healthy. He has recorded 17 touchdowns in the last two seasons and should be considered a solid No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues.

Redskins | Jordan Reed has a nose for the end zone

Sun, 04 Jun 2017 20:34:34 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed's 17 touchdowns since the start of the 2015 season are the second-most in the NFL among tight ends.

Fantasy Tip: Injuries are a constant concern with Reed, but when healthy, he has as much upside as any player at his position. He should be one of the first tight ends off the board.

Redskins | Jordan Reed the focal point

Thu, 30 Mar 2017 18:18:46 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed will be the focal point of the offense in 2017, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is one of the top fantasy tight ends when he is on the field, but injuries are a perennial concern. He is a high-risk, high-reward TE1.

Redskins | Jordan Reed endorses Kirk Cousins

Sat, 18 Feb 2017 19:16:47 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed said bringing back impending free-agent QB Kirk Cousins should be a top priority this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is one of the best fantasy tight ends in the game when he isn't dealing with injuries. If Cousins is back under center in Washington in 2017, Reed should remain a TE1 in all formats.

Redskins | Jordan Reed to skip Pro Bowl

Sat, 21 Jan 2017 07:09:39 -0800

The Washington Redskins have announced that TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) will not play in the Pro Bowl Jan. 29.

Fantasy Tip: The 26-year-old Reed caught 66 passes for 686 yards and four touchdowns in 12 games during the 2016 campaign, although his production tailed off dramatically over the final month due to injury. He will be completely healthy by the start of training camp and should be viewed as a high-end TE1 option in all fantasy formats entering next season.

Redskins | Jordan Reed likely to play

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 07:29:56 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) is expected to play in Week 17's game against the New York Giants. He was limited in practice throughout the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners should expect Reed to be active because Washington still has an opportunity to make the playoffs. However, he has only caught two passes since Thanksgiving and makes a very risky TE1 option for Week 17, especially since the possibility looms that he could see limited snaps. Reed's presence also means that the fantasy value of Vernon Davis will be negatively impacted.

Redskins | Jordan Reed limited in practice again

Fri, 30 Dec 2016 13:59:54 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) was a limited participant in practice for the third consecutive day Friday, Dec. 30.

Fantasy Tip: As reported earlier, he's questionable to play in Sunday's season finale, though it appears he's more likely than not to suit up, considering Washington is still vying for a postseason berth. Reed has looked a lot less effective when trying to play through injury over the past few weeks, but head coach Jay Gruden did say this week that he looked "great." Either way, he'll be a risky play in Week 17, and his presence should also downgrade Vernon Davis.

Redskins | Jordan Reed listed as questionable

Fri, 30 Dec 2016 11:53:03 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) was listed on as questionable on the Week 17 injury report despite looking "great" in practice this week, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Given the importance of the game for Washington against the New York Giants this weekend, owners can expect Reed to go. However, that doesn't make him a great option in his current state. He hasn't come close to his former dominant self since suffering his injury on Thanksgiving and will probably undergo surgery as soon as the team's season is over. Owners should look elsewhere in order to fill their tight end slot this weekend.

Redskins | Jordan Reed limited

Thu, 29 Dec 2016 14:34:54 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is somewhat of a quandary for Week 17. If he plays then he could be limited, but he should be started if he's active. The New York Giants boast a solid defense, but they're more susceptible to tight ends than other positions.

Redskins | Jordan Reed will play Week 17

Tue, 27 Dec 2016 15:57:36 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) will play in the team's Week 17 finale Sunday, Jan. 1, against the New York Giants.

Fantasy Tip: Before he was ruled inactive this past weekend, Reed tried playing through his current injury over the prior two weeks, registering just one target in each while looking largely ineffective. It's possible he's in much better shape right now after getting a week of rest, but it's also possible the Redskins are forcing the issue here, as this final regular season game has implications on their playoff fate. Simply put, he'll be a very risky play, and his lingering presence figures to also downgrade Vernon Davis.

Redskins | Jordan Reed day-to-day

Mon, 26 Dec 2016 13:13:36 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) is day-to-day, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: The Redskins will be out of playoff contention if the Detroit Lions win Monday. If that's the case then Washington may choose to rest Reed in Week 17. Vernon Davis could be a sneaky start for those with Week 17 fantasy championships on the line if Reed is sidelined.

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 07:03:42 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) is not expected to play in Week 16's game against the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Reed did not practice at all during the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. Vernon Davis is likely to see the bulk of the snaps if Reed is sidelined and should be viewed as a low-end TE1 or high-end TE2 option.

Fri, 23 Dec 2016 17:02:12 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 23, and is listed as questionable for Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Reed will be a game-time decision for Week 16, so owners will need to check the inactive list before deciding on their lineups. He has not posted great numbers over the last few weeks and will be a risky low-end No. 1 tight end for owners.

Redskins | Jordan Reed to play in Week 16?

Tue, 20 Dec 2016 23:59:53 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) is expected to play in Week 16, according to head coach Jay Gruden, though Gruden added that if the injury is holding Reed back too much he could sit.

Fantasy Tip: Reed was clearly affected by the injury in authoring a one-catch stinker that came to a merciful close when he was ejected for throwing a punch. Even if he's active it'd be hard to trust Reed in such a critical spot.

Redskins | Jordan Reed ejected for punch

Mon, 19 Dec 2016 19:53:04 -0800

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) was ejected in the third quarter of the Week 15 game against the Carolina Panthers after throwing a punch in retaliation to what he appeared to feel was a cheap shot to his injured shoulder area.

Fantasy Tip: Reed was clearly in pain and not playing at 100 percent, and now he can rest for the remainder of the evening. Reed finished with just one grab for six yards on his only target. Vernon Davis will be the biggest beneficiary from a fantasy perspective.

Mon, 19 Dec 2016 16:10:03 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) is officially active for the team's Week 15 game.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is still bothered by his shoulder injury but should have a decent role in the passing game. He can be a No. 1 tight end in most fantasy leagues since the Panthers have had problems with tight ends over the past few weeks.

Redskins | Jordan Reed confident in shoulder

Sat, 17 Dec 2016 19:55:18 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) said he isn't sure how much he will play in Week 15, but he has more strength and confidence in his injured shoulder than he did last week.

Fantasy Tip: Reed will likely have his snaps limited to some degree against Carolina in Week 15, but unless you happen to have a high-end backup, you are probably better off rolling with Reed as your TE1.

Sat, 17 Dec 2016 10:59:25 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) was limited during practice Saturday, Dec. 17, and is listed as questionable for Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Reed should be able to play against the Carolina Panthers, but owners should keep an eye on the situation in case of a setback. He will be a risky option for owners in most leagues but can still be a No. 1 tight end since the Panthers have struggled against tight ends lately.

Redskins | Jordan Reed limited Friday

Fri, 16 Dec 2016 16:08:35 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Reed appears to be on track to play in Week 15 but may be limited by his shoulder injury. He was held to one catch for 10 yards in Week 14 after missing Week 13. Reed is a risky option for owners because of the injury but can be a No. 1 tight end this week because the Carolina Panthers have allowed four touchdowns to tight ends in the last five games.

Confirming a previous report, Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) will play in Week 14's game against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Reed was limited in practice throughout the week and had been listed as questionable on the injury report but ultimately ended up missing just one game due to a separated left shoulder. He has 59 receptions for 630 yards and five touchdowns through just nine games this year and should be viewed as a high-end TE1 in all fantasy formats.

Sat, 10 Dec 2016 18:41:19 -0800

Redskins | Jordan Reed practices again

Fri, 09 Dec 2016 11:59:47 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) participated in practice Friday, Dec. 9, but is listed as questionable for Week 14 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: Reed expects to go this weekend but looked to be in "obvious pain" according to onlookers during Thursday's practice. Given the dismal state of position and his upside, most owners probably have no other choice but to start Reed if he is active. With that said, he carries about as much risk as any player in fantasy this weekend given the likelihood will make his injury worse. Owners should have a backup plan in place, and one of the best alternatives could be backup Vernon Davis.

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) said he feels that he has all of his range of motion back and believes he'll play in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: This is somewhat of a surprise considering Reed's injury history and the fact that he didn't play last week. Vernon Davis should be benched with Reed expecting to play, while Reed makes his way into high-end TE1 territory against a reeling Philadelphia Eagles defense.

Redskins | Jordan Reed will not play Week 13

Fri, 02 Dec 2016 11:19:55 -0800

Updating a previous story, Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) has been ruled out for Week 13 against the Arizona Cardinals in order to continue receiving treatment on his ailing shoulder.

Fantasy Tip: Reed should be considered week-to-week at this point. Vernon Davis will get the start and will be a viable TE1 during his absence given all of the injuries at the position across the league. This week, however, Davis faces one of the stingiest defenses against tight ends, so owners should consider other options if at all possible.

Redskins | Jordan Reed sits out practice Friday

Fri, 02 Dec 2016 10:17:53 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 2.

Fantasy Tip: We noted yesterday Reed was unlikely to play Week 13 and this does nothing to change that. He should be considered week-to-week at this point, and there is a strong likelihood he won't resemble the dominant player he has been this season until 2017. Vernon Davis will fill in this week (if not beyond) and should considered a low-end TE1 during his absence.

Thu, 01 Dec 2016 10:17:10 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) is not expected to play in Week 13 because of his shoulder injury, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should check the inactive list to make sure of Reed's status but will need to have other options available if he is ruled out. Vernon Davis would receive most of the work at tight end if Reed sits out and can be a low-end No. 1 tight end in some leagues.

Redskins | Jordan Reed still having issues

Thu, 01 Dec 2016 05:45:07 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) said the Grade 3 separation of the AC joint in his left shoulder continues to cause a lot of pain, and he only has 30 percent range of motion. The team is taking a wait-and-see approach on his status for Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to see him playing and being a factor if it's that serious of an issue. Vernon Davis had five catches for 68 yards last week and would be a low-end TE1 to consider if Reed is out against the Arizona Cardinals.
