Redskins | Jordan Reed hauls in seven balls

Mon, 12 Sep 2016 21:05:38 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed was targeted a team-high 11 times in Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, posting seven receptions for 64 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Reed was the consolation price in fantasy football for owners missing out on Rob Gronkowski, and fantasy owners are expecting big things going forward. He should excel in Week 2 against a Dallas Cowboys pass defense that allowed a touchdown to the tight end in Week 1.

Redskins | Jordan Reed will sit Thursday

Tue, 09 Aug 2016 14:30:03 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (thumb) will not be active Thursday, Aug. 11, against the Atlanta Falcons, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: The injury doesn't sound serious, but it's concerning every time Reed is dealing with something considering his injury history. He's still arguably the most reliable target the Redskins have and will continue to be that safety blanket for Kirk Cousins. He should be one of the first three tight ends drafted and has more value in PPR formats.

Redskins | Jordan Reed has looked good

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 11:24:04 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (ankle) missed three days of practice this week but looked very good when he was in camp, and the coaches' confidence in him has increased. Reed will work out on his own before reporting to training camp next month, and his work ethic has been an underrated part of his game. Reed has improved on getting free on certain routes.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is one of the top receiving options for Kirk Cousins in this offense and is a top-tier TE1. However, injuries have been a big part of his past and remain a concern, so make sure you have a very capable backup if you roll the dice on Reed as your starter.

Redskins | Jordan Reed unable to participate

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 22:45:22 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (ankle) did not practice again Wednesday, June 15, as he deals with a sprained ankle.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is a Top 10 fantasy option at his position when healthy, but he has had a propensity for injury which makes him a bit of a risk. He is even better in leagues which reward points per receptions (PPR), but make sure to have depth on hand due to his injury history.

Redskins | Jordan Reed has ankle sprain

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 12:31:08 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (ankle) missed minicamp Tuesday, June 14, because of an ankle sprain he suffered last week, according to head coach Jay Gruden. Reed is not expected to practice this week.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has shown his fragility in previous seasons, but he stayed healthy and produced high-end TE1 numbers last year. It's unclear if he'll be ready for training camp, but the injury doesn't seem serious. He's still worth a high-end TE1 selection, with added value in PPR leagues.

Redskins | Jordan Reed to work on blocking

Thu, 05 May 2016 10:51:28 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed said he's going to work on his blocking technique to clean up holding fouls.

Fantasy Tip: Reed broke out with an 87-952-11 season last year. He has had some health concerns, but the upside outweighs that cloud. He's an upper-middle TE1 in fantasy.

Redskins | Jordan Reed vital to Kirk Cousins

Thu, 05 May 2016 09:51:41 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed's presence on the field successfully skewed QB Kirk Cousins' numbers in 2015. In 421 pass plays with Reed on the field, Cousins threw for 7.7 yards per attempt with a 111.9 passer rating and 24 touchdowns to four interceptions. When Reed wasn't on the field, Cousins threw for 6.2 yards per attempt with five scores, seven interceptions and a 73.3 rating in 148 plays.

The Redskins were 6-1 when Reed earned more than 65 receiving yards this season and 3-4 when the tight end went under that plateau.

Fantasy Tip: Reed had a big 87-952-11 season, and the team supplemented the offense with WR Josh Doctson in the draft. Reed is an upper-middle TE1, and Cousins is around the same range of quarterbacks. Doctson will give a clearer outlook in training camp, but he's not a bad WR4 gamble

Redskins | Jordan Reed extension coming?

Sun, 13 Mar 2016 18:42:48 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed could receive a contract extension later in the summer, according to beat writer Rich Tandler.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has the talent to be a sure-fire TE1 and a potential top five player at the position. However, he has an extensive injury history, so he is a high-risk, high-reward draft option.

Redskins | Jordan Reed sets franchise record

Sun, 10 Jan 2016 18:39:10 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed posted nine receptions for 120 yards and a touchdown in the NFC Wild Card Game against the Green Bay Packers Sunday, Jan. 10. He was targeted 17 times. He is the first tight end in franchise history to post 100 or more receiving yards in a playoff game.

Fantasy Tip: Reed came on strong down the stretch and into the playoffs and will be a Top 5-10 fantasy option at his position. The skills have always been there, but he has had difficulty staying healthy in his NFL career.

Redskins | Jordan Reed scoring in bunches

Thu, 07 Jan 2016 20:42:26 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed's four multi-touchdown games this year are tied for the most in the NFL.

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($8,300, 16.6% of cap) has one of the safest floors and highest ceilings of any tight end available at FantasyScore on wild-card weekend, and if you want to spend up to solidify the positon, he is the smart play.

Redskins | Jordan Reed in rare company

Sat, 26 Dec 2015 17:56:51 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed caught a touchdown in the first quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 16, becoming the first Washington player since Gary Clark in 1991 to record 10 receiving touchdowns in a season.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has always shown this type of upside, but injuries have been a constant problem. If he can stay healthy, there is no reason he can't be a top fantasy tight end for years to come.

Redskins | Jordan Reed probable vs. Washington

Fri, 25 Dec 2015 14:34:08 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 25, and he is probable for the Week 16 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) has emerged as a high-end tight end option with three touchdowns through his last two outings and at least six catches in four of his last five games. Start Reed with confidence in seasonal leagues, and he is a viable tight end option at FantasyScore if you're paying up at the position.

Redskins | Jordan Reed takes part in practice

Thu, 24 Dec 2015 13:31:03 -0800

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) has scored three touchdowns in his last two games and has at least six catches in four of his last five games. Reed will have a tough matchup since the Philadelphia Eagles play well against opposing tight ends, but owners could still consider him a starting option.

Redskins | Jordan Reed fully practices

Wed, 23 Dec 2015 15:01:08 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Dec. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) has possibly been the most valuable fantasy tight end over the last couple weeks. He is Kirk Cousins' favorite target and a threat to score each outing. The Philadelphia Eagles have actually been really good defending tight ends this year, but Reed is still easily in TE1 territory for Week 16.

Sun, 20 Dec 2015 18:04:24 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed had seven receptions for 84 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Week 15 game against the Buffalo Bills. He was targeted seven times.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has helped fantasy owners when they needed it the most, going for 84 or more yards in three of the past four games, and he has found the end zone thrice in the past two outings.

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 15:31:30 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed had nine receptions and 120 yards to go with a touchdown in a 24-21 win over the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) had his worst game of the year in Week 13, followed by the best game of his season. Two of his best totals have come in the last three weeks. He doesn't score much, but the yardage points are decent.

Mon, 07 Dec 2015 22:51:44 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed posted three receptions for 33 yards in the Week 13 game against the Dallas Cowboys. He was targeted a game-high eight times.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has been busy in the offense, but his stat lines have been rather erratic lately. He is unlikely to rebound against a strong Chicago Bears pass defense in Week 14.

Redskins | Jordan Reed sprained knee

Mon, 23 Nov 2015 10:49:10 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (knee) sprained the medial collateral ligament in one of his knees in the Week 11 loss to the Carolina Panthers. However, Reed returned to the game.

Fantasy Tip: The oft-injured Reed is once again banged up, and his availability for Week 12 will now be in question against the New York Giants. Keep an eye on his practice status this week but be prepared to go in another direction.

Redskins | Jordan Reed injures knee

Sun, 22 Nov 2015 13:10:29 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (knee) suffered a knee injury during the team's Week 11 game.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to look for any updates on Reed's status in the next day or two. Reed entered the game with five touchdowns in his last three games. Derek Carrier likely would start if Reed misses time and is not a great fantasy option.

Sun, 15 Nov 2015 17:18:15 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed had three catches for 29 yards and two touchdowns in a 47-14 win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) has five touchdowns in his last three games, and he remains one of the primary weapons in the Washington's passing attack and one of the safer options at the tight end position at FantasyScore.

Redskins | Jordan Reed officially active

Sun, 25 Oct 2015 08:50:22 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) is officially active for the Week 7 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) has dealt with some injuries this season but is ready to play against the Buccaneers. Reed should see a decent amount of targets during the game and could be a solid option for fantasy owners.

Redskins | Jordan Reed likely will play

Sun, 25 Oct 2015 07:18:49 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) is expected to play in the Week 7 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) should see a solid amount of targets during the game but is facing a tough matchup because the Buccaneers allow the fewest fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Owners can still start Reed but should not expect big numbers this week.

Redskins | Jordan Reed a question mark

Fri, 23 Oct 2015 15:42:47 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) was limited in practice for the third straight day Friday, Oct. 23, and is questionable for Week 7 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, a person with knowledge of the situation said that Reed has been cleared to play Sunday, Oct. 25. Head coach Jay Gruden said the team was waiting for a written confirmation of the clearance Friday. Reed is expected to play unless he suffers a setback.

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) is one of Kirk Cousins' favorite aerial targets, and he'll be a great value pick on FantasyScore now that it looks like he'll play in Week 7.

Redskins | Jordan Reed must receive clearance

Thu, 22 Oct 2015 15:43:58 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) continues to show signs of progress after a second straight practice Thursday, Oct. 22, but he must still receive final clearance from an independent neurologist before playing in Week 7 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Reed has missed the last two games but continues to be optimistic about returning this weekend.

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) is a great value at tight end if he actually plays this weekend. He's a favorite target of Kirk Cousins and DeSean Jackson (hamstring) is likely to be out for another game.

Redskins | Jordan Reed gets limited work

Thu, 22 Oct 2015 10:49:25 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) said he's 100%, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been good at limiting tight ends. He's not a good FantasyScore option this week.

Redskins | Jordan Reed limited

Wed, 21 Oct 2015 14:05:53 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) will have to pass all of his concussion tests before he is cleared to play. He will be a risky option for owners if he is active for the Week 7 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because of the injury as well as the Buccaneers ability to stop opposing tight ends.

Redskins | Jordan Reed says he's 100%

Wed, 21 Oct 2015 10:46:12 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) said he is "100%" healthy and will play in Week 7 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: This comes as a pretty big surprise for a player that seems to be constantly injured and who can't stay on the field for long stretches. However, when Reed ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) is healthy, he's one of the more dynamic fantasy tight ends. Keep track of his practice status this week, but if he plays, he has top-tier potential at his position, especially if DeSean Jackson sits out again.

Redskins | Jordan Reed out Friday

Fri, 16 Oct 2015 08:38:42 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) is out of practice Friday, Oct. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Derek Carrier ($2,000, 6.0% of cap) caught a touchdown last week, but he has just five targets the last two games. He's not a real good option against the New York Jets on FantasyScore.

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) is missing practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 15. Reed isn't expected to play in Week 6 against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) is one of Kirk Cousins' favorite targets when he's on the field, but the problem is Reed continues to struggle to stay healthy. Stay away from him in all fantasy formats for at least another week.

Redskins | Jordan Reed misses practice

Wed, 14 Oct 2015 14:36:39 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion, knee, ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 14, because he still has not been cleared to practice. Reed was able to attend practice and meetings, which was something he was not able to do last week.

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) still has a few days before the team's Week 6 game, but he probably will miss at least one more practice because of the injury. Derek Carrier ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore looking to spend money at other positions.

Redskins | Jordan Reed making progress

Mon, 12 Oct 2015 12:44:53 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion, knee, ankle) has shown some improvement but is still going through the concussion protocol, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Reed will have to pass all of his concussion tests before he is cleared to play in a game, so owners should keep an eye out on his progress. Derek Carrier caught a touchdown in Week 5 and could receive another start if Reed is not cleared to play.

Redskins | Derek Carrier could shine in relief

Sat, 10 Oct 2015 19:01:29 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Derek Carrier is expected to start against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 5 in place of the TE Jordan Reed (concussion), and the Redskins rank second in the NFL in tight end receptions this season.

Fantasy Tip: Kirk Cousins ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) has leaned on his tight ends frequently dating back to last season when the Redskins ranked fifth in tight end receptions. Carrier ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) could be the beneficiary and is a potential sneaky source of cap relief at FantasyScore.

Redskins | Jordan Reed out for Week 5

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 09:28:02 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) will not travel with the team and is out for Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Jamison Crowder ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) could benefit at receiver against the Atlanta Falcons. It's a tough matchup, but he's coming off a 7-65 game with 12 targets. He could easily trump his FantasyScore price.

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) is dealing with multiple injuries and probably will not be cleared to play in the Week 5 game against the Atlanta Falcons. Derek Carrier ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) likely would start at tight end if Reed is not active but is not the best option for owners.

Redskins | Jordan Reed misses practice

Wed, 07 Oct 2015 15:11:54 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion, knee, ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has played the part of Kirk Cousins' safety blanket this year, but he's dealing with a slew of injuries right now and may miss this week's contest. If Reed sits, Derek Carrier ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) would be a good sleeper choice on FantasyScore.

Redskins | Jordan Reed's head injury a concern

Mon, 05 Oct 2015 13:29:03 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed's (concussion, knee, ankle) head injury is a real concern, according to head coach Jay Gruden. Reed has a long history of head injuries dating back to college and missed the last six games in 2013 after suffering two concussions in three weeks. Reed hasn't played more than 11 games in a single season. He has 24 catches for 278 yards and a touchdown after four games and is averaging a career-high 11.6 yards per catch.

Fantasy Tip: To say that Reed is injury-prone is a huge understatement. If you drafted him in traditional leagues, hopefully you made sure to get some solid backup insurance. If not, you'll need to start planning for a prolonged absence immediately. In the meantime, Pierre Garcon's fantasy value goes up even more, and Chris Thompson (11 catches in the last three weeks) could become worth of a look as a sleeper in a flex position.

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (knee, ankle, concussion) suffered a right medial collateral ligament sprain and a right ankle sprain in addition to a concussion Sunday, Oct. 4, against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: It sure sounds like Reed has a lot of recovering to do, putting his Week 5 availability in doubt. Reed has an extensive injury and concussion history, so hopefully these new anguishes don't linger.

Mon, 05 Oct 2015 06:33:35 -0700

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) was diagnosed with a concussion Sunday, Oct. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) could miss some time here. One analyst has surmised this is Reed's fifth known concussion. If that's the case, you'd have to think he's in danger of missing multiple weeks. Derek Carrier ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is his backup, but he has just five targets this year and isn't a good one on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) posted five receptions for 37 yards before checking out of the game. If he is unable to play next time out, Derek Carrier ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) might see more responsibilities.

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed had six catches on nine targets for 96 yards in a 32-21 loss to the New York Giants in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) has had at least six catches and more than 60 yards in all three games, and as long as DeSean Jackson is sidelined, he should be a safe tight end option at FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) has 13 catches for 145 yards through two games, and as long as he can stay healthy, he should make a serviceable tight end option at FantasyScore.

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 08:50:35 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) likely will be one of the main options in the passing game with DeSean Jackson sidelined. Reed will have some risk because of the injury but should be a solid starting option on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) could be a game-time decision, so owners should monitor the situation. He is coming off a solid Week 1 performance and could be a solid starting option if he is active because the team will be playing without DeSean Jackson, which makes Reed one of the team's top target.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check the inactive list to see it Reed ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) will be able to play in Week 2. Reed will be a risky option for owners because he could be limited if he is active for the game. Owners may want to consider healthier options to use in their lineups.
