Redskins | Jordan Reed feeling fully healthy

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 13:11:49 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) said he's feeling 100% after returning to practice Tuesday, Aug. 25. Head coach Jay Gruden said Reed looked great and has made progress. Reed admitted he still has work to do, though. "[I want to] not have any mental errors, be real sharp with the playbook and just real crisp with my footwork and routes," Reed said. Reed said he is excited to be playing this weekend.

Fantasy Tip: The Redskins will really need Reed to stay healthy this season. They have already lost Niles Paul and Logan Paulsen for the season. If Reed can maintain his good health and produce the way he has in the past, he could be a steal at tight end in fantasy drafts.

Redskins | Jordan Reed likely sidelined

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 15:27:01 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) is not expected to play Thursday, Aug. 20, against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is notorious for being fragile, so it's smart for Washington to give him as much rest as possible. Reed is a high-risk, high-reward player, but the risk may be too much as he has only played in 20 games the last two seasons.

Redskins | Jordan Reed may play Week 3 of preseason

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 15:04:39 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) is hopeful for Week 3 of the preseason, against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is the Redskins' starting tight end by default, so the team will be extra cautious to ensure his availability to open the regular season.

Redskins | Jordan Reed could miss preseason game

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 07:32:56 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) may not play in the second preseason game Thursday, Aug. 20, because of a hamstring injury. Reed said he hopes to be able to dress for the game.

Fantasy Tip: The Redskins likely will take things slow with Reed since they have lost two tight ends for the season so far. Reed has played well when he is healthy but has missed games in each of the last two seasons. Reed could be a No. 2 receiver in some leagues this season.

Redskins | Jordan Reed expects to play next game

Sat, 15 Aug 2015 15:25:00 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) said Saturday, Aug. 15, he expects to return to practice next week, and he hopes to play in the second preseason game, against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: With injuries to Niles Paul and Logan Paulsen there is a lot of pressure on Reed to stay healthy this season. He has the talent to be a fantasy asset, but the risk will make him a late-round flier.

Redskins | Jordan Reed expected to start

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 13:29:00 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed is expected to be the starting tight end this season after TE Niles Paul (ankle) suffered a fractured ankle in the first preseason game Thursday, Aug. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has posted solid numbers when he has been on the field but has been sidelined by injuries in each of his first two seasons. Reed is a risky fantasy option because of his injury history, but he could be a No. 2 tight end in deeper leagues.

Redskins | Jordan Reed won't play Thursday

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 21:12:25 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) will not play in the preseason opener Thursday, Aug. 13, against the Cleveland Browns, head coach Jay Gruden said Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has plenty of talent, but he has had difficulty staying healthy. He is behind Niles Paul on the depth chart for now, but if he could seize the starting job he has TE1 potential.

Redskins | Jordan Reed day-to-day

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 13:16:39 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) is listed as day-to-day with a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Tip: Head coach Jay Gruden has said Niles Paul is the starting tight end for now. Reed has only played in 20 games in two seasons, so there's obvious risk in selecting him. If Reed eventually starts, he has TE1 potential when healthy.

Redskins | Niles Paul a starter for now

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 12:09:53 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Niles Paul is considered the starting tight end at this point because he is more complete player than TE Jordan Reed, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Paul had a solid 2014 season with 507 receiving yards and one touchdown in 16 games. Jordan Reed has more fantasy value and probably would be more involved in the passing game, but he has struggled to stay healthy. Owners probably should pass over Paul in drafts this season, but he could be a waiver wire option during the year.

Redskins | Jordan Reed ready for healthy season

Fri, 07 Aug 2015 10:52:06 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed spent the offseason changing his eating habits in order to help him stay healthy in 2015. He missed seven games in his rookie season, five games last year and was out this spring after a knee issue that required surgery. Reed has cut out bread, fried foods and sweets from his diet and is only eating grilled or baked chicken. He is also making an effort to stretch more before workouts. Reed feels like he can finally play a full season in 2015. Catching passes hasn't been an issue for Reed, but blocking has been his weak suite, and the Redskins often use TEs Logan Paulsen and Niles Paul in their two-tight end sets, especially if it's a run play. Reed feels that he is stronger and has more burst after strengthening the left side of his body and leg, and he's also added eight pounds of muscle but is leaner.

Fantasy Tip: It remains to be seen if Reed can stay healthy for a full season, but there's no doubt that he has the pass-catching ability to become a fantasy force. However, with Robert Griffin III an unknown now and with Paul and Paulsen to compete with, it's hard to see Reed being much more than a TE2 in 2015.

Redskins | Jordan Reed trying to shed label

Sun, 02 Aug 2015 05:10:22 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed is ready to shed the narrative that he is injury prone. Reed has missed a total of 12 games over his first two seasons in the NFL. "Right now I'm staying positive and I feel like the injuries are in my past and I'm moving on," Reed said. "I just need to focus on maintenance of my body. I won't let nagging injuries catch up to me. I've made some changes, and I'll be ready," said Reed.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has averaged 10.1 yards per reception on 95 career catches. His upside is undeniable, but his injury concerns will drop his fantasy value considerably. Owners willing to take a flier late in drafts have plenty to gain from Reed.

Redskins | Jordan Reed cleared

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 14:38:01 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (knee) has been cleared for full participation in training camp, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: With how fragile Reed has proven to be over his short career so far, it only seems like a matter of time before he's injured again. He's a high-risk, high-reward pick, so tread carefully.

Redskins | Jordan Reed still reliable?

Tue, 14 Jul 2015 12:22:25 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (knee) was held out of offseason activities due to knee surgery, but he is expected to participate in training camp later this month. Reed has also battled issues with his hamstring, hip, thigh, thumb and a concussion.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has proven to be one of the most skilled, yet fragile, tight ends in the NFL. When healthy, he's capable of putting up top-five numbers at the position, but good health has avoided him in recent years. He's a high-risk, high-reward pick this year. It is advisable to also take his backup, Niles Paul, if you do draft Reed.

Redskins | Niles Paul ready if needed

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 12:45:38 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Niles Paul is prepared to step in and start if TE Jordan Reed struggles with injuries again this season. Paul practiced some with the first team this offseason and head coach Jay Gruden praised his development. Reed will start if and when he's healthy, but Reed has missed 12 games in his first two seasons in the league.

Fantasy Tip: Paul is a capable replacement for Reed, as he proved last season, but he's not at the same skill level as Reed. When healthy, Reed can put up top-five tight end numbers. He's a high-risk, high-reward pick, and fantasy owners should consider selecting Paul later in drafts if they draft Reed.

Redskins | Jordan Reed on track for training camp

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 18:13:17 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (knee) is expected to be ready to report for the start of training camp Wednesday, July 29.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has been plagued by injuries in his first two seasons in the NFL, but he has shown some potential when he has been on the field. Draft him as a TE2, but he could crack TE1 territory if he can play all 16 games.

Redskins | Jordan Reed has knee surgery

Mon, 01 Jun 2015 08:21:58 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (knee) underwent a minor knee operation recently, but he will be ready for training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is bunched up with the pack of high-end TE2's, and this procedure doesn't figure to change that.

Redskins | Jordan Reed injured again?

Tue, 26 May 2015 13:55:22 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (knee) is experiencing knee soreness after the first day of organized team activities Tuesday, May 26, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has dealt with his fair share of injuries over the last few years. When healthy he's a solid TE1, especially in point-per-reception leagues. This could turn out to be nothing, but there may be more cause for concern with his injury history.

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (personal) is participating in practice Thursday, Dec. 18, after missing practice Wednesday, Dec. 17, because of a personal reason.

Fantasy Tip: Reed should be ready to play this week but has only produced more than 25 yards in one of his last five games and still does not have a touchdown on the season. Reed costs $4,100 on FantasyScore, but owners should look to use a different option.

Redskins | Jordan Reed listed as questionable

Fri, 28 Nov 2014 11:52:54 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) took part in a full practice Friday, Nov. 28, but is questionable for Week 13 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: A full practice Friday should be a good sign that Reed will be able to suit up against the Colts, but you'll have to check back again Sunday morning. If he plays, Reed ($5,000) is a weapon that's hard to rely on at FantasyScore, especially with the move to Colt McCoy at quarterback.

Thu, 27 Nov 2014 11:31:10 -0800

Redskins | Jordan Reed limited

Wed, 26 Nov 2014 11:50:35 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 26, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Reed ($5,000) sat out last week, but it looks like he has a good chance to return in Week 13 against the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts have allowed 9.10 fantasy points to tight ends on average this year, but trusting Reed with a move to Colt McCoy as the team's quarterback is suspect.

Redskins | Jordan Reed ruled out

Fri, 21 Nov 2014 10:02:17 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) missed his third straight day of practice Friday, Nov. 21, and head coach Jay Gruden said Reed has been ruled out for Week 12 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Fantasy Tip: Remove Reed immediately from your FantasyScore lineups if you had him in there. It might be time to drop Reed in standard fantasy leagues, too. Niles Paul ($3,000) is a bargain at FantasyScore, but you're rolling the dice with him as your tight end, especially with how inconsistent Robert Griffin III has been.

Redskins | Jordan Reed not practicing

Thu, 20 Nov 2014 09:54:10 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) is not participating in practice Thursday, Nov. 20.

Fantasy Tip: It is not looking good for Reed to play in Week 12, but he still has a few days to improve. Niles Paul likely would start if Reed is not able to play and could be a cheap starting option on FantasyScore at $3,000.

Redskins | Jordan Reed optimistic about playing

Thu, 09 Oct 2014 15:04:28 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) has missed the past four games with a strained hamstring, but he is expressing optimism about returning in Week 6 against the Arizona Cardinals if he doesn't suffer any setbacks. "Yeah, definitely. Shooting for Sunday," Reed said. "Yeah, honestly. I feel like if I get everything done this week and everything goes smoothly, I can be out there on Sunday." Reed noticed a significant improvement with his hamstring in practice Wednesday, Oct. 8. There remains some tightness, but he's close to full strength.

Fantasy Tip: Unfortunately for fantasy owners, Reed's game this weekend is an afternoon tilt, making him an extremely risky option for your lineups. You're better off passing on Reed for another week.

Redskins | Jordan Reed limited Thursday

Thu, 09 Oct 2014 14:59:37 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Reed will probably be questionable against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6. If he plays, however, he would be a nice option at FantasyScore for just $3,700 (7.4% of cap). The Cardinals have been generous to tight ends this season.

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) is inactive in Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks Monday, Oct. 6. TE Niles Paul (concussion) is active and will replace Reed.
