Eagles | Zach Ertz ready to take next step?

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 18:15:56 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz has spent the offseason traveling around the country to improve as a blocker and a receiver, head coach Chip Kelly said Thursday, June 18, and RB Darren Sproles said Ertz is "about to be a superstar."

Fantasy Tip: Ertz topped 700 yards last season, but his production varied wildly from week to week. He has the physical tools to put up big numbers, and if he has improved enough as a blocker to see more playing time, he could be in for a big year. If you are one of the last owners to select a tight end in your draft, taking a chance on Ertz's upside could pay off.

Eagles | Zach Ertz building rapport with QB

Mon, 15 Jun 2015 13:00:16 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz has developed chemistry with QB Sam Bradford this offseason. The Bradford to Ertz connection has supposedly been commonplace at organized team activities. Ertz is excited for what Bradford can bring to the offense. "I think we will get back to some of the deep plays," Ertz said. "I'll do anything I can to get open." Ertz added that Bradford has a strong, accurate arm and can put the ball up high where Ertz is able to go up and catch it.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz likes to make the big play, and Bradford is able to help him with that. Ertz finished on the brink of TE1 status last year, despite splitting time with Brent Celek. If Bradford and Ertz can add a few more big plays, and if Ertz can improve on his measly three touchdowns, he can easily end up as a TE1 in 2015.

Eagles | QBs overthrew Zach Ertz often in 2014

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 10:20:48 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz was overthrown 18.0% of the time when he was targeted by the quarterback in 2014, which was the second highest number among tight ends.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz had a solid season in 2014 with 702 receiving yards and three touchdowns and should continue to have a solid role in the passing game this upcoming season. Ertz could be a starting tight end in most leagues.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews to have bigger role

Fri, 03 Apr 2015 10:52:50 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews said the team won't really have a designated No. 1 receiver in place to replace the production that will be lost with WR Jeremy Maclin signing with the Kansas City Chiefs. "People ask me about being the No. 1 wide receiver; Forget it," Matthews said. "I want us to be a receiving corps. That's what I want it to be." Matthews was the team's second leading receiver in 2014 with 67 catches for 872 yards and eight touchdowns as the slot receiver. Matthews is likely to play more in 2015 and on the outside. Head coach Chip Kelly said he sees Matthews playing "a lot of different spots." Kelly is confident in Matthews and WR Josh Huff, and TE Zach Ertz and RB Darren Sproles could be used more in the passing game.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews should be in line for more production, at least in catches and yardage in 2015. He'll have a much more gifted quarterback in Sam Bradford throwing him passes, too. In Kelly's offense, though, there's opportunity for Huff and Riley Cooper to be successful in the right matchups.

Eagles | Zach Ertz to play more in 2015?

Mon, 26 Jan 2015 18:45:45 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz ranked ninth among tight ends in 2014 with 293 receiving yards out of the slot, but PhillyMag.com's Sheil Kapadia believes Ertz could see more time in the slot next year if WR Jordan Matthews spends more time outside.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz's production fluctuated throughout the year, but he showcased his pass-catching skills on multiple occasions. If he does end up in the slot more often, he will be a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. He makes a nice upside pick at the tight end spot next year.

Sat, 20 Dec 2014 16:34:29 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz had 15 catches for 115 yards Saturday, Dec. 20. Both of which are career highs.

Fantasy Tip: Where has that been all season? Ertz is a matchup play at the position.

Eagles | Zach Ertz probable

Wed, 26 Nov 2014 09:39:30 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (oblique) fully participated in practice and is probable for Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz will cost $3,100 in FantasyScore and has a nice match up against a Cowboys defense that has struggled with the tight end position this year. He should be considered for your roster.

Eagles | Zach Ertz takes part in practice

Mon, 24 Nov 2014 10:29:01 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (oblique) fully participated in practice Monday, Nov. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz should be able to play in Week 13 despite the short week and is facing a Dallas Cowboys defense that has struggled stopping opposing tight ends. Owners on FantasyScore could consider using Ertz if the price is right.
