Eagles | Zach Ertz to return in Week 5

Sat, 24 Sep 2016 07:52:54 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) will return to action Oct. 9, during Week 5's game against the Detroit Lions, according to head coach Doug Pederson. He has already been ruled out for Week 3's game versus the Pittsburgh Steelers and the club has a bye in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Brent Celek and Trey Burton will once again split time at tight end for the Eagles against Pittsburgh, with Burton possessing more upside and worth considering as a low-cost option in daily fantasy contests.

Eagles | Zach Ertz out for Week 3

Fri, 23 Sep 2016 07:32:04 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) has been ruled out for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Trey Burton had a solid game with a 5-49-1 line last week. He's worth consideration if you need an injury fill-in against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Eagles | No practice for Zach Ertz

Thu, 22 Sep 2016 14:04:18 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 22.

Fantasy Tip: It doesn't look promising for Ertz in Week 3. If he is ruled out then Brent Celek and Trey Burton would take over again. Burton has more upside and scored last week. He'd make for a solid, cheap play in daily contests, too.

Eagles | Zach Ertz does not practice

Wed, 21 Sep 2016 12:21:26 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz missed the last game because of the injury and may need to sit at least one more week. Owners probably should look for other options to use in their lineups because Ertz probably would be limited if he plays in Week 3.

Eagles | Zach Ertz out Wednesday

Wed, 21 Sep 2016 09:44:45 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) is out of practice Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz is likely to be a game-time decision against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He'd be a low-end TE1 if he suits up.

Eagles | Zach Ertz's Week 3 status up in the air

Tue, 20 Sep 2016 10:31:36 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) will likely be a game-time decision in Week 3 against Pittsburgh Steelers, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

Fantasy Tip: Don't be surprised if the Eagles choose to hold him out another week. Trey Burton performed very well in Ertz's role against the Chicago Bears on Monday night and impressed the coaching staff enough during the preseason to earn himself some playing time now that he is over his calf injury. Consider Ertz a low-end TE1 at best this week if he gets the nod and Burton a high-end TE2 if he doesn't.

Eagles | Trey Burton expected to take on bigger role

Sat, 17 Sep 2016 09:53:21 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Trey Burton is expected to take on a bigger offensive role in Week 2 versus the Chicago Bears with Zach Ertz out.

Fantasy Tip: Burton is a highly gifted athlete who flashed repeatedly throughout camp and in preseason action, so he could easily become a waiver-wire darling after this week. However, he is just as likely to see only a handful of targets if Jordan Matthews gets rolling or the Eagles simply decide to lean on the running game. He should eventually emerge as a TE2 this season and be added wherever possible, but players like Dennis Pitta and Jesse James possess higher floors this week.

Eagles | Zach Ertz ruled out for Week 2

Sat, 17 Sep 2016 08:17:00 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) has been ruled out for Week 2's game against the Chicago Bears, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz had six receptions for 58 yards in the season opener against the Browns but did not practice at all this week and should be considered week-to-week going forward. TE Brent Celek was on the field for 49 percent of the offensive snaps against Cleveland and should see an increased role versus Chicago, making him a suitable replacement in seasonal leagues as well as DFS. TE Trey Burton should also see a spike in fantasy value due to Ertz's injury.

Eagles | Zach Ertz does not practice

Fri, 16 Sep 2016 17:02:06 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz has missed each of the last two days of practice and may not be able to play in Week 2, so owners should monitor the situation. Brent Celek would receive a bigger role if Ertz misses the game but may not be a great fantasy option.

Eagles | No practice for Zach Ertz

Thu, 15 Sep 2016 13:17:00 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz's status will be one to monitor right before game time Monday night. If he is unable to go, then Brent Celek would make for a nice, cheap play in daily formats and as a suitable replacement for Ertz in seasonal leagues.

Eagles | Zach Ertz not ruled out for Week 2

Thu, 15 Sep 2016 07:57:24 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) has not been ruled out to play Monday, Sept. 19, in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz would at best be limited against the Chicago Bears. Brent Celek caught one ball for 11 yards in Week 1. He's not a suitable replacement in fantasy, and Ertz's absence should continue to give Jordan Matthews high-end WR2 upside.

Eagles | Zach Ertz dealing with rib injury

Mon, 12 Sep 2016 09:23:20 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) is considered week-to-week with a rib displacement and his status for Week 2 is in question, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

Fantasy Tip: The rib is not broken or cracked, but it appears there is a good chance Ertz will miss the Eagles' Week 2 Monday Night Football showdown against the Chicago Bears. Preseason star Trey Burton was inactive in Week 1 due to a calf injury, so Philadelphia could be forced to rely on Brent Celek and find some help outside of the organization if Ertz and Burton don't make significant progress this week.

Eagles | Zach Ertz cleared

Fri, 05 Aug 2016 08:27:36 -0700

Updating an earlier report, Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (head) has been cleared after evaluation of a head injury Friday, Aug. 5.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like he has escaped a concussion. He had a solid third year with 75 catches for 853 yards in 2015, but he scored just twice. He has improved every year, and he's a midrange TE1 with upside.

Eagles | Zach Ertz banged up

Fri, 05 Aug 2016 07:53:23 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (head) is being evaluated for a head injury Friday, Aug. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz has been a bit of a tease in fantasy as he has failed to reach the end zone with regularity. He had a solid third year with 75 catches for 853 yards, but he scored just twice. He has improved every year, and he's a midrange TE1 with upside.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz has been a bit of a tease in fantasy as he has failed to reach the end zone with regularity. He had a solid third year with 75 catches for 853 yards, but he scored just twice. He has improved every year, and he's a midrange TE1 with upside.

Eagles | Sam Bradford working out with teammates

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 15:30:17 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford is working out with several of his teammates in San Diego leading up to training camp. QBs Chase Daniel and Carson Wentz, RB Darren Sproles, WRs Jordan Matthews, Josh Huff, T.J. Graham and Rueben Randle and TE Zach Ertz are among the players participating in the workouts.

Fantasy Tip: Bradford is trying to build chemistry with his receivers so they can start the season off strong. Bradford should only be considered as a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues. Matthews and Ertz will be among the leaders in targets for the Eagles this season and likely will be selected in the middle rounds of drafts. Sproles should have a role in the running and passing game in 2016 and could be a late-round option who will have more value in point-per-reception leagues. Huff and Randle are only late-round options in deeper leagues.

Eagles | Zach Ertz not worried about QB situation

Thu, 19 May 2016 19:13:18 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz said he isn't going to run his routes any differently for QB Sam Bradford than he would for QB Carson Wentz.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz has TE1 potential, but consistency has been an issue throughout his career. The quarterback situation shouldn't impact his value too much, and Ertz's upside is worth taking a chance on if you wait until later in your draft to address the tight end spot.

Eagles | Zach Ertz finished strong

Mon, 25 Jan 2016 10:15:12 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz had 35 catches for 450 yards over the last four weeks of the regular season, which was the highest yardage total by a tight end in NFL history in the final four weeks.

Fantasy Tip: The Eagles are counting on their tight end position remaining strong, and it seems likely they'll attempt to keep Sam Bradford in town with Ertz. Brent Celek remains in the plans, too, which will limit Ertz from being a legitimate TE1 in fantasy, but Ertz can put up TE1 numbers many weeks depending on the matchups.

Eagles | Zach Ertz has Pro Bowl incentives

Mon, 25 Jan 2016 08:00:50 -0800

Updating earlier reports, Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz can earn a maximum of $45.8 million because of $300,000 Pro Bowl incentives and $3 million in Pro Bowl salary escalators.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz will be a midrange TE1 option next season.

Updating an earlier report, Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz signed a five-year, $42.5 million deal with $20 million in guarantees Monday, Jan. 25. The deal makes him the fourth-highest-paid tight end in the league.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz has peaks and valleys, but he will be a midrange TE1 option next season.

Mon, 25 Jan 2016 07:21:35 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz was signed to a five-year contract extension Monday, Jan. 25.

Eagles | More production from Zach Ertz?

Sat, 23 Jan 2016 15:56:03 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz posted 75 receptions in 2015, but he had six games with three receptions or fewer in 15 games played. Ertz hasn't been featured as much in the passing game in recent seasons, but head coach Doug Pederson maximized the talents of Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce in their time together, now Ertz is likely to be in the game plan more going forward.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz could emerge as a Top 5 fantasy talent at his position in 2016. His numbers have been good overall, but his production has been sporadic from week to week and rather undependable. That appears like it could be changing.

Eagles | Philadelphia want to lock up Zach Ertz

Fri, 22 Jan 2016 19:05:08 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz is one of the players the team wants to sign to a long-term deal, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz has always shown big upside, but he has never been used consistently. New head coach Doug Pederson could change that, considering how much tight end Travis Kelce was used when Pederson was the offensive coordinator in Kansas City. At the very least, Ertz is worth a look as a low-end TE1.

Eagles | Zach Ertz unstoppable

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 18:27:07 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz had nine catches for 152 yards in a 35-30 win over the New York Giants in Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz once again teased fantasy owners with his potential in the final weeks, logging at least 78 yards in each of the final four games and topping 100 in the final two. If he is ever utilized consistently, he will easily be a TE1.

Sat, 26 Dec 2015 21:03:32 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz finished with 13 catches for 122 yards in a 38-24 loss to the Washington Redskins in Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz has at least 78 yards receiving in three straight, and it looks like he may finally be realizing his potential. Consider him a TE1 for fantasy purposes right now.

Eagles | Zach Ertz evaluated for concussion

Mon, 21 Dec 2015 12:13:01 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (concussion) was evaluated for a concussion in Week 15 against the Arizona Cardinals, but he was cleared to return.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz had one of his better games of the 2015 season last night, tallying eight catches for 78 yards and a touchdown on 13 targets. Don't expect this outing to be duplicated next week, but Ertz should still be a consideration for your starting FantasyScore tight end.

Eagles | Zach Ertz posts 78 yards, TD

Sun, 20 Dec 2015 21:38:11 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz had eight catches for 78 yards and a touchdown in the Week 15 game against the Arizona Cardinals. He was targeted a game-high 13 times.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz hadn't managed more than 68 yards in a game until the past two games. Philly has finally realized his value, as he has 13 catches for 176 yards and a touchdown over the past two starts. He is a solid low-end TE1, or top 10 fantasy option at his position.

Eagles | Zach Ertz productive in Week 14

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 14:38:01 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz caught five passes for 98 yards against the Buffalo Bills in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz has been targeted often over the last several weeks but posted a season high in yards against the Bills. He has been targeted at least six times in six of the last eight games. He will be facing a tough Arizona Cardinals defense in Week 15 and may not be the best option.

Eagles | Zach Ertz likely for Week 14

Fri, 11 Dec 2015 09:11:33 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (hip) practiced fully Friday, Dec. 11, and he's probable for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is a low-end option worth consideration on FantasyScore against the Buffalo Bills.

Eagles | Sam Bradford, Zach Ertz fully practice

Thu, 10 Dec 2015 12:10:50 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford (shoulder) and TE Zach Ertz (hip) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Both players should be just fine against the Buffalo Bills. Bradford ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) actually has some sleeper appeal this weekend against a Buffalo team that hasn't pressured quarterbacks like they were expected to. Ertz ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) scored a touchdown last week but had just two catches for nine yards. He's still competing for catches with Brent Celek, and he's a low-end tight end play this weekend.

Eagles | Zach Ertz practices Wednesday

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 11:27:02 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (hip) practiced fully Wednesday, Dec. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) only caught two passes for nine yards last week, but one of them was for a touchdown. He's a risky TE selection on FantasyScore against the Buffalo Bills, but he's at a cheap price.

Eagles | Zach Ertz probable

Fri, 04 Dec 2015 09:09:07 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (concussion) practiced fully Friday, Dec. 4, and is probable for Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) could be a basement grab on FantasyScore against the New England Patriots this week.

Eagles | Zach Ertz, Nelson Agholor practice

Thu, 03 Dec 2015 12:23:50 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (concussion) and WR Nelson Agholor (hip) both practiced in full Thursday, Dec. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Don't expect Ertz ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) to immediately reconnect with Sam Bradford in a tough matchup against the New England Patriots. Ertz is a low-end tight end target. The rookie Agholor ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has been a big disappointment this year and doesn't have over three catches in any game. Stay away.

Eagles | Sam Bradford, Zach Ertz full go

Wed, 02 Dec 2015 12:30:39 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford (shoulder) and TE Zach Ertz (concussion) both participated fully in practice Wednesday, Dec. 2.

Fantasy Tip: The Eagles have been one of the most disappointing offenses in football this year, largely due to Bradford ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) and Ertz ($3,300, 6.6%). Plus, the New England Patriots' defense has been extremely unkind to opposing quarterbacks and tight ends this season. Bradford and Ertz are both avoidable.

Eagles | Zach Ertz cleared

Tue, 01 Dec 2015 09:07:56 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (concussion) was cleared to practice Tuesday, Dec. 1, for the first time since suffering a concussion Nov. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) could present a value at the position against the New England Patriots in Week 13.

Eagles | Zach Ertz to meet with doctor

Mon, 30 Nov 2015 10:49:30 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (concussion) will have to meet with an independent neurologist before he is cleared to play again.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz missed the team's Week 12 game because of a concussion, so owners will need to monitor his practice participation this week to see if he has a chance to play in Week 13.

Eagles | Ryan Mathews among Eagles' inactives

Thu, 26 Nov 2015 08:10:40 -0800

The Philadelphia Eagles have declared DL Brandon Bair, CB Denzel Rice, WR Jonathan Krause, RB Ryan Mathews, QB Sam Bradford, OT Tanner Hawkinson, TE Zach Ertz inactive for Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: DeMarco Murray ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) will face a Detroit Lions defense that is in the median against the position the last five weeks. He could see more red zone opportunities with Mathews out. Murray is a high-end RB2 on FantasyScore.

Wed, 25 Nov 2015 09:43:04 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (concussion) is officially out for Week 12 Thursday, Nov. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Brent Celek ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) had a good game last week and will be a midrange option against the Detroit Lions on FantasyScore if you're pinching pennies at the position.

Eagles | Zach Ertz will not play

Tue, 24 Nov 2015 11:55:21 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (concussion) will not play Thursday, Nov. 26, against the Detroit Lions as he will still be in the concussion protocol.

Fantasy Tip: Brent Celek ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) will be the Eagle's primary tight end with Ertz sidelined. He had his best game of the season last week and is worth a look on FantasyScore whether it be Mark Sanchez or Sam Bradford starting.

Eagles | Zach Ertz will be questionable

Mon, 23 Nov 2015 11:09:04 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (concussion) is questionable to play against the Detroit Lions in Week 12 Thursday, Nov. 26.

Fantasy Tip: The chances aren't in Ertz's favor to pass the concussion protocol and play on a short week, so he'll be extremely risky in daily leagues. Brent Celek could be a valuable sleeper pick at the position, though, especially since the Lions struggle to cover tight ends this year.

Eagles | Zach Ertz not practicing

Mon, 23 Nov 2015 10:41:42 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (concussion) was not practicing Monday, Nov. 23.

Fantasy Tip: On a short week, the chances of Ertz playing against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving probably aren't great. He'll be a risky commodity on FantasyScore. If he's out, Brent Celek could be a sneaky sleeper, considering the Lions are a top-10 PPR fantasy matchup for tight ends.

Eagles | Zach Ertz has short week

Mon, 23 Nov 2015 08:15:52 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (concussion) is in the concussion protocol, and his status is uncertain for Week 12 Thursday, Nov. 26. He has been cleared for meetings.

Fantasy Tip: Consider Ertz extremely questionable for the Thanksgiving matchup with the Detroit Lions. Brent Celek had seven catches for 79 yards and could be a low-end FantasyScore grab worth making.

Eagles | Zach Ertz will not return

Sun, 22 Nov 2015 11:53:54 -0800

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (concussion) has been diagnosed with a concussion and will not return to the team's Week 11 game.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz will need to pass all of the concussion tests before he is cleared to play again. He probably will be at least questionable for the Week 12 game since the team plays Thursday, Nov. 26, so owners should monitor his progress. Brent Celek likely will see more playing time but probably should be passed on by owners.

Sun, 22 Nov 2015 11:11:18 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (head) left the team's Week 11 game early and is being evaluated for a possible concussion.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz tried to leap over a defender and fell awkwardly on his back and neck. Owners will need to monitor the situation to see if he is diagnosed with a concussion. Brent Celek should would receive a better role if Ertz misses time but is not a great fantasy option.

Eagles | Philly using more two-TE sets

Wed, 18 Nov 2015 10:33:58 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly has been using more two-tight ends sets with TEs Zach Ertz and Brent Celek to better suit the skill set of his tight ends and RB DeMarco Murray, which has come at the expense of the wide receivers. The Eagles has emphasized "12" personnel two-tight end sets for two straight weeks and have been rewarded with 202 combined receiving yards from Ertz and Celek.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) has been the much more targeted and consistent tight end for Philly over Celek ($3,000, 6.0% of cap). Both won't be bad sleeper tight end picks at all on FantasyScore if this trend continues, and that's entirely possible with Mark Sanchez expected to start against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this weekend.

Eagles | Zach Ertz tops receivers in Week 7

Sun, 25 Oct 2015 21:45:08 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz posted five receptions for a team-high 63 yards in the Week 7 game against the Carolina Panthers. He was targeted eight times.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) is only worth using in FantasyScore if you need to save salary, as he has been targeted seven or more times in five of his seven games, but he has yet to find the end zone.
