Eagles | Strong day for Zach Ertz

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 14:12:35 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz caught five passes for 97 yards in a 27-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, Sept. 17.

Fantasy Tip: It was the second straight outing where Ertz led the receivers for Philadelphia, and not much else needs to be said. Ertz is a TE1 option straight to the bank for fantasy owners.

Eagles | Zach Ertz nears 100 yards

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 13:49:19 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz caught eight passes for 93 yards with no touchdowns in a 30-17 win over the Washington Redskins on Sunday, Sept. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz is easily a TE1 because of his chemistry with Carson Wentz at quarterback. As long as these two stay tuned to each other, Ertz will be among the top tight ends in all of football, if not a legitimate receiving threat. Ertz didn't score in Week 1, but he will during the year.

Eagles | Carson Wentz working with receivers

Mon, 10 Jul 2017 11:12:53 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz is working with several Eagles this week, including WRs Alshon Jeffery and Jordan Matthews and TE Zach Ertz.

Fantasy Tip: It's always nice to see a young quarterback working out with his pass-catchers during the offseason, especially when it's not required. Wentz has solid upside in his sophomore year and has the receiving corps to break out. Draft him as a QB1 is ill advised, but he makes for a quality QB2.

Eagles | Zach Ertz restructures

Mon, 13 Mar 2017 06:28:38 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz restructured his contract Monday, March 13, according to a source. The move turned $3.225 million into a signing bonus and created $2.58 million in salary cap space.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz put together a solid 78-816-4 season, but he has the propensity for injury. He's a midrange TE1 option in fantasy.

Eagles | Zach Ertz preparing for big 2017

Fri, 13 Jan 2017 20:20:15 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz credits his strong finish to the 2016 season to improved chemistry with QB Carson Wentz, and Ertz plans to continue to develop chemistry with Wentz by working with him over the offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz hauled in 40 passes for 443 yards over the final five games, showcasing his upside as a pass-catcher. Consistency has been an issue for Ertz, but unless the Eagles dramatically upgrade their receiving corps this offseason, Ertz should continue to provide TE1 numbers as Wentz's safety net.

Eagles | Zach Ertz closes strong

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 14:14:40 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz caught 13 of his 16 targeted passes for 139 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a 27-13 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz has been QB Carson Wentz's big weapon all season, and that was true Sunday as well. Ertz is easily a TE1 heading into the offseason, as Wentz has made no secret of Ertz being one of his favorite targets.

Eagles | Zach Ertz has solid performance

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 14:52:00 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz caught six passes for 80 yards against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz recorded at least 79 yards for the third straight game and has been targeted at least 10 times in three of the last five games. He has been a popular target for Carson Wentz and should be a decent No. 1 tight end in the next two weeks.

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 15:27:23 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz caught 10 of his 13 targeted passes for 112 yards in a 27-22 loss to the Washington Redskins.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz has been one of Wentz's best targets in his rookie season, and he should still rank among the top tight ends in the game. Play him any chance you get.

Eagles | Zach Ertz has solid afternoon

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 20:32:50 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz racked up nine receptions for 79 yards and a touchdown on 15 targets in the Week 13 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz was limited by an injury to his ribs late in October, but he has looked good in November and into December. Ertz has six or more receptions in four of his past five outings, and he has found the end zone twice in the past three games. He can be trusted again as a low-end TE1 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams heading into Week 14 against the Washington Redskins.

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz posted three receptions for 36 yards in the Week 12 game against the Green Bay Packers Monday, Nov. 28. He was targeted six times.

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz posted six receptions for 35 yards and a touchdown in the Week 11 game against the Seattle Seahawks. He was targeted 11 times.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz had a decent line against a good defense, and he should excel in Week 12 against a banged up Green Bay Packers pass defense. Consider him a TE1 for next Monday's outing.

Eagles | Zach Ertz in uniform

Sun, 20 Nov 2016 12:18:50 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (hamstring) is officially active for the team's Week 11 game.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz has played well over the last few weeks but is still looking for his first touchdown of the season. He can be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues since he is facing the Seattle Seahawks.

Eagles | Zach Ertz expected to play

Sun, 20 Nov 2016 09:53:37 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (hamstring) is on track to play in the team's Week 11 game even though he is listed as questionable.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz still has not been able to find the end zone but has posted back-to-back solid performances. He will be facing a solid Seattle Seahawks defense bur could still be a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues.

Eagles | Zach Ertz logs full session Friday

Fri, 18 Nov 2016 11:12:16 -0800

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (hamstring) has been listed as questionable on the Week 11 injury report, but he returned to a full practice Friday, Nov. 18.

Fantasy Tip: The Eagles have made Ertz more of a priority over the last two weeks and he has rewarded their faith with 14 catches for 152 scoreless yards. The fourth-year pro has yet to find the end zone this season and only has scored nine times in 3 1/2 years, so his upside is capped somewhat. Regardless of his lack of touchdowns, any tight end receiving as much volume as Ertz has seen lately is in the TE1 discussion.

Eagles | Zach Ertz questionable

Fri, 18 Nov 2016 07:35:43 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Week 11 after he suffered a hamstring injury in practice Wednesday, Nov. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz has been solid the last two games, but his durability is in constant question. It might be best to look elsewhere instead of risking an aggravation against the Seattle Seahawks.

Eagles | Zach Ertz misses practice

Thu, 17 Nov 2016 12:19:36 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (hamstring) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check on Ertz's status after practice Friday, Nov. 17, to see if he has a chance to play in Week 11. He has played well over the last two games and would be a low-end No. 1 tight end if he is able to play.

Eagles | Zach Ertz listed as limited

Wed, 16 Nov 2016 12:37:02 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz probably will be able to play despite the injury, but owners should monitor the situation during the week. He has caught 14 passes for 152 yards over the last two games but still has not caught a touchdown pass this season. Ertz will be facing a tough Seattle Seahawks defense in Week 11 but can still be a low-end No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues.

Sun, 13 Nov 2016 18:29:12 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz posted six receptions for 55 yards on seven targets in the Week 10 game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Fantasy Tip: The Falcons have had some trouble against opposing tight ends, but they did a great job against Ertz. He'll look to rebound in Week 11 in Seattle, but that's an awfully tough matchup.

Eagles | Zach Ertz leads the way in Philly

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 16:36:53 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz hauled in eight receptions for 97 yards on eight targets in the Week 9 game against the New York Giants.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz entered the game with just 15 grabs for 150 yards, so don't get overly excited about this one solid game. However if he is able to continue his rebirth against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 10, he could re-emerge as a useful fantasy option soon.

Eagles | Zach Ertz with another quiet game

Mon, 24 Oct 2016 05:58:32 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz managed just one catch for 14 yards in Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: He played 83 percent of the offensive plays, but it was his third straight quiet game. He'll be a bye-week replacement against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8.

Eagles | Zach Ertz primed for big game?

Sat, 08 Oct 2016 20:05:21 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz faces the Detroit Lions in Week 5, and the Lions have allowed five different tight ends to combine for six touchdowns in the first four games of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz draws a friendly matchup in his return from a rib injury, and he should be deployed as a TE1 in Week 5.

Fri, 07 Oct 2016 13:05:54 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 7, and is not on the injury report for Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz should receive plenty of targets this week in the passing game after missing the last two games. Ertz is a solid No. 1 tight end in all leagues against the Detroit Lions.

Thu, 06 Oct 2016 12:16:35 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) had an MRI Monday, Oct. 3, and he has received clearance to return in Week 5.

Eagles | Zach Ertz trending toward Week 5 return

Mon, 03 Oct 2016 09:47:33 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) is planning on playing Week 5 versus the Detroit Lions after an MRI on his ribs came back clear, according to CSN Philly's Reuben Frank.

Fantasy Tip: The Eagles' well-timed bye means Ertz will likely only miss one full game and send Week 2 superstar Trey Burton back into more of a supporting role. The fourth-year pro has shown an aversion to the end zone throughout his career, but he couldn't ask for a better spot this week, as the Lions gave up their sixth touchdown in four games to a tight end in their loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 4. Ertz should be considered a must-start if he plays Week 5.

Sat, 24 Sep 2016 07:52:54 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) will return to action Oct. 9, during Week 5's game against the Detroit Lions, according to head coach Doug Pederson. He has already been ruled out for Week 3's game versus the Pittsburgh Steelers and the club has a bye in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Brent Celek and Trey Burton will once again split time at tight end for the Eagles against Pittsburgh, with Burton possessing more upside and worth considering as a low-cost option in daily fantasy contests.

Eagles | Zach Ertz out for Week 3

Fri, 23 Sep 2016 07:32:04 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) has been ruled out for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Trey Burton had a solid game with a 5-49-1 line last week. He's worth consideration if you need an injury fill-in against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Eagles | No practice for Zach Ertz

Thu, 22 Sep 2016 14:04:18 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 22.

Fantasy Tip: It doesn't look promising for Ertz in Week 3. If he is ruled out then Brent Celek and Trey Burton would take over again. Burton has more upside and scored last week. He'd make for a solid, cheap play in daily contests, too.

Eagles | Zach Ertz does not practice

Wed, 21 Sep 2016 12:21:26 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz missed the last game because of the injury and may need to sit at least one more week. Owners probably should look for other options to use in their lineups because Ertz probably would be limited if he plays in Week 3.

Eagles | Zach Ertz out Wednesday

Wed, 21 Sep 2016 09:44:45 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) is out of practice Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz is likely to be a game-time decision against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He'd be a low-end TE1 if he suits up.

Eagles | Zach Ertz's Week 3 status up in the air

Tue, 20 Sep 2016 10:31:36 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) will likely be a game-time decision in Week 3 against Pittsburgh Steelers, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

Fantasy Tip: Don't be surprised if the Eagles choose to hold him out another week. Trey Burton performed very well in Ertz's role against the Chicago Bears on Monday night and impressed the coaching staff enough during the preseason to earn himself some playing time now that he is over his calf injury. Consider Ertz a low-end TE1 at best this week if he gets the nod and Burton a high-end TE2 if he doesn't.

Eagles | Trey Burton expected to take on bigger role

Sat, 17 Sep 2016 09:53:21 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Trey Burton is expected to take on a bigger offensive role in Week 2 versus the Chicago Bears with Zach Ertz out.

Fantasy Tip: Burton is a highly gifted athlete who flashed repeatedly throughout camp and in preseason action, so he could easily become a waiver-wire darling after this week. However, he is just as likely to see only a handful of targets if Jordan Matthews gets rolling or the Eagles simply decide to lean on the running game. He should eventually emerge as a TE2 this season and be added wherever possible, but players like Dennis Pitta and Jesse James possess higher floors this week.

Eagles | Zach Ertz ruled out for Week 2

Sat, 17 Sep 2016 08:17:00 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) has been ruled out for Week 2's game against the Chicago Bears, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz had six receptions for 58 yards in the season opener against the Browns but did not practice at all this week and should be considered week-to-week going forward. TE Brent Celek was on the field for 49 percent of the offensive snaps against Cleveland and should see an increased role versus Chicago, making him a suitable replacement in seasonal leagues as well as DFS. TE Trey Burton should also see a spike in fantasy value due to Ertz's injury.

Eagles | Zach Ertz does not practice

Fri, 16 Sep 2016 17:02:06 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz has missed each of the last two days of practice and may not be able to play in Week 2, so owners should monitor the situation. Brent Celek would receive a bigger role if Ertz misses the game but may not be a great fantasy option.

Eagles | No practice for Zach Ertz

Thu, 15 Sep 2016 13:17:00 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz's status will be one to monitor right before game time Monday night. If he is unable to go, then Brent Celek would make for a nice, cheap play in daily formats and as a suitable replacement for Ertz in seasonal leagues.

Eagles | Zach Ertz not ruled out for Week 2

Thu, 15 Sep 2016 07:57:24 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) has not been ruled out to play Monday, Sept. 19, in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz would at best be limited against the Chicago Bears. Brent Celek caught one ball for 11 yards in Week 1. He's not a suitable replacement in fantasy, and Ertz's absence should continue to give Jordan Matthews high-end WR2 upside.

Eagles | Zach Ertz dealing with rib injury

Mon, 12 Sep 2016 09:23:20 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (rib) is considered week-to-week with a rib displacement and his status for Week 2 is in question, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

Fantasy Tip: The rib is not broken or cracked, but it appears there is a good chance Ertz will miss the Eagles' Week 2 Monday Night Football showdown against the Chicago Bears. Preseason star Trey Burton was inactive in Week 1 due to a calf injury, so Philadelphia could be forced to rely on Brent Celek and find some help outside of the organization if Ertz and Burton don't make significant progress this week.

Fri, 05 Aug 2016 08:27:36 -0700

Updating an earlier report, Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (head) has been cleared after evaluation of a head injury Friday, Aug. 5.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like he has escaped a concussion. He had a solid third year with 75 catches for 853 yards in 2015, but he scored just twice. He has improved every year, and he's a midrange TE1 with upside.

Fri, 05 Aug 2016 07:53:23 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (head) is being evaluated for a head injury Friday, Aug. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz has been a bit of a tease in fantasy as he has failed to reach the end zone with regularity. He had a solid third year with 75 catches for 853 yards, but he scored just twice. He has improved every year, and he's a midrange TE1 with upside.

Eagles | Sam Bradford working out with teammates

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 15:30:17 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford is working out with several of his teammates in San Diego leading up to training camp. QBs Chase Daniel and Carson Wentz, RB Darren Sproles, WRs Jordan Matthews, Josh Huff, T.J. Graham and Rueben Randle and TE Zach Ertz are among the players participating in the workouts.

Fantasy Tip: Bradford is trying to build chemistry with his receivers so they can start the season off strong. Bradford should only be considered as a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues. Matthews and Ertz will be among the leaders in targets for the Eagles this season and likely will be selected in the middle rounds of drafts. Sproles should have a role in the running and passing game in 2016 and could be a late-round option who will have more value in point-per-reception leagues. Huff and Randle are only late-round options in deeper leagues.

Eagles | Zach Ertz not worried about QB situation

Thu, 19 May 2016 19:13:18 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz said he isn't going to run his routes any differently for QB Sam Bradford than he would for QB Carson Wentz.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz has TE1 potential, but consistency has been an issue throughout his career. The quarterback situation shouldn't impact his value too much, and Ertz's upside is worth taking a chance on if you wait until later in your draft to address the tight end spot.

Eagles | Zach Ertz finished strong

Mon, 25 Jan 2016 10:15:12 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz had 35 catches for 450 yards over the last four weeks of the regular season, which was the highest yardage total by a tight end in NFL history in the final four weeks.

Fantasy Tip: The Eagles are counting on their tight end position remaining strong, and it seems likely they'll attempt to keep Sam Bradford in town with Ertz. Brent Celek remains in the plans, too, which will limit Ertz from being a legitimate TE1 in fantasy, but Ertz can put up TE1 numbers many weeks depending on the matchups.
