Carolina Panthers general manager David Gettleman said he will offer QB Cam Newton a fair contract to start contract negotiations. "It's going to be fun," Gettleman said. "It's going to be interesting. There's going to be a lot of work, a lot of research. A lot of thought is going to go into it. Philosophically, I'm going to start with a fair offer. Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson said he is impressed with the experience general manager David Gettleman he will be bringing to the team. Gettleman served as the New York Giants' Senior Pro Personnel Analyst this season after being the Giants' director of pro personnel the previous 13 years. He has also served as a scout for the Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos.
