Titans | Justin Hunter will be at practice Friday

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 14:58:06 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter will practice Friday, July 31, just days after being released from jail for an assault charge.

Fantasy Tip: Hunter's off-field issues aside, he has some of the worst hands in the NFL and isn't a reliable starting fantasy option.

Titans | Justin Hunter to take part in camp

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 22:56:59 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter is expected to take part in training camp when it opens, as the team will let the legal process play out, according to a source. Hunter was arrested earlier in the month of felony assault.

Fantasy Tip: Hunter has tremendous size, but he managed to reel in just 28 of his 67 targets last season. Without the arrest, he would be a late-round flier on draft day. With the arrest and uncertainty about a potential suspension, he is someone to avoid.

Titans | Justin Hunter released from jail

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 14:10:58 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter was released from jail on a $25,000 bond Tuesday, July 21. Hunter had been charged with malicious wounding in an incident earlier this month. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Whether Hunter is punished by the Titans and/or the NFL remains to be seen. Even if Hunter doesn't miss any time, he has proven to be unreliable with his hands. He only caught 28 of his 67 targets last season, so he should only be drafted for depth at wide receiver.

Updating previous reports, Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter will have a bond hearing and arraignment at 2 p.m. ET Tuesday, July 21, in Virginia Beach, Va.

Titans | Justin Hunter arrested

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 15:33:29 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter was arrested Monday, July 20, and has been charged with assault because of an incident earlier this month. Hunter was allegedly involved in a fight at a bar in Virginia Beach that sent a person to the hospital.

Fantasy Tip: Hunter could receive a punishment from the NFL for his involvement in the incident, so owners may want to monitor the situation. Hunter is expected to compete for one of the starting wide receiver jobs during training camp. Hunter could be an option in the late rounds of deeper league drafts but will not be a consistent starter.

Titans | Justin Hunter playing some in slot

Thu, 04 Jun 2015 15:33:16 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter has seen some time in the slot position during organized team activities. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said Hunter may be used in the slot to help keep tabs on who's going where on defense and to force the opposition to prepare for different looks.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to imagine Hunter seeing a lot of playing time in the slot. He's a big receiver and fits better on the outside. Plus, Kendall Wright has proven to be more than a suitable slot receiver, not to mention Harry Douglas can also be used in that position. Hunter is probably the Titans' best deep threat, but his lack of catching consistency makes him a WR5 at best for now.

Titans | Justin Hunter in do-or-die situation?

Mon, 01 Jun 2015 13:25:21 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter may have his last opportunity to prove he belongs in the NFL, or at least with the Titans, in 2015. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt recently said, "At some point, you either get it or you won't be in this league anymore," in regards to Hunter's play the last couple of seasons.

Fantasy Tip: Hunter has shown signs of breaking out, but hasn't reached his full potential yet. His catch rate has been at the bottom of the league in consecutive seasons and he'll be facing more competition with Hakeem Nicks and rookie Dorial Green-Beckham now also in the mix. He's too risky to draft high and should be taken near the WR5 range.

Titans | Justin Hunter adding weight

Thu, 07 May 2015 09:44:19 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter said he has been working on adding some weight this offseason. Hunter finished this past season at 196 pounds but is currently 206 pounds and wants to be at 210 pounds by the start of training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Hunter had his 2014 season end early because of a spleen injury but will be ready for offseason workouts. He likely will compete with Dorial Green-Beckham for a starting job during training camp. Hunter could be a late-round option in fantasy drafts next season.

Titans | Justin Hunter expects to fight for job

Thu, 07 May 2015 09:31:05 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter is expected to compete with WR Dorial Green-Beckham for one of the starting receiver jobs during training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Hunter likely will enter camp as the leading candidate since he has been in the offense longer than Green-Beckham, but Green-Beckham will be given the chance to win the job. Both players probably will be late-round options in drafts next season.

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter (spleen) was placed on Reserve/Injured Tuesday, Dec. 2. Hunter ruptured his spleen in Week 13.

Titans | Justin Hunter expected to be fine

Mon, 01 Dec 2014 10:44:30 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter (spleen) is expected to be fine after suffering a ruptured spleen in Week 13, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Hunter probably will not be able to play in Week 14, and there is a good chance he misses several weeks because of the injury. Kendall Wright and Nate Washington likely will receive bigger roles in the offense with Hunter out, which will boost their fantasy value. Both receivers could be options for owners on FantasyScore this week if the price is right.

Titans | Justin Hunter won't need surgery

Mon, 01 Dec 2014 09:37:37 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter (spleen) isn't expected to need surgery for his lacerated spleen, but he'll remain in a Houston hospital for the next day or two.

Fantasy Tip: Hunter probably will be unlikely to suit up in Week 13 against the New York Giants. Consider both Kendall Wright and Nate Washington to be decent value plays at FantasyScore, depending on their prices, against the G-men.

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter (stomach) was taken to a hospital in Houston following the Week 13 game against the Houston Texans to get stomach pain checked out.

Sun, 30 Nov 2014 10:36:24 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter (stomach) left the team's Week 13 game early because of a stomach injury but is probable to return.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Hunter is only dealing with a minor injury and should be able to return. Hunter has scored two touchdowns in his last four games but is not an every-week starter for owners.

Titans | Justin Hunter's status in question

Fri, 21 Nov 2014 12:11:24 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 21, and is listed as questionable for Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Hunter appears to have a good chance to play since he was not limited during practice. Hunter costs $3,900 on FantasyScore and has a favorable matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, so owners could consider using him as a cheap flex option.

Titans | Justin Hunter a full participant

Thu, 20 Nov 2014 15:21:36 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter (knee) practiced fully Thursday, Nov. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Hunter ($3,900, 7.8%) does have a favorable matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, but he's been underachieving all year. The risk might still be worth it at his low price on FantasyScore.

Wed, 19 Nov 2014 13:31:19 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter (knee) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Fantasy Tip: There isn't anything to suggest that Hunter's injury will keep him out of Week 12. He's not a bad FantasyScore option this weekend against the Philadelphia Eagles, either, for a price of just $3,900.

Titans | Teams interested in Nate Washington

Wed, 22 Oct 2014 19:50:37 -0700

The Tennessee Titans have been fielding calls from teams for WR Nate Washington, who recently lost his starting job to WR Justin Hunter. Washington is in the final year of a six-year, $26.8 million contract. He is making $4.8 million this season.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Washington is in Nashville, FantasyScore owners will want to avoid him. However, if he should land in a more favorable spot with another team, he could re-emerge as a viable fantasy option.

Titans | Justin Hunter moves up depth chart

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 19:06:34 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter displaced WR Nate Washington as the No. 2 receiver this past week. He led the team with 66 of 68 offensive snaps in Week 5 against the Cleveland Browns, while Washington managed to play just 48 snaps.

Fantasy Tip: Hunter is a deep play threat, but unless he has a big game in Week 6 to follow up his solid Week 5 performance, FantasyScore owners will want to avoid him. Play wait-and-see with Hunter for now.

Titans | Justin Hunter rises up depth chart

Wed, 08 Oct 2014 07:50:38 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter has locked down a starting spot on the outside with the team. He has big upside due to his size and speed, but he's not a consistent performer on tape, according to personnel executives.

Fantasy Tip: Hunter ($3,700; 7.4% of your cap) is a solid flex option on FantasyScore at a bargain against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6.

Titans | Justin Hunter sees more action

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 07:12:39 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter played on all but two offensive snaps in Week 5. He had three catches for 99 yards and a touchdown Sunday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: His total was padded by a 75-yard touchdown strike, but he could have some bye-week replacement value. Put him on your fringe list for waivers this week.

Titans | Justin Hunter yet to make an impact

Mon, 15 Sep 2014 13:25:18 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter hasn't made much of an impact in the first two games of the season after finishing with the second-most receiving yards in the preseason (217 yards). Hunter has been targeted 14 times in the first two games and has just five grabs. He had two catches for just 26 yards in the Week 2 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. QB Jake Locker went to WR Nate Washington and TE Delanie Walker in key third-and-goal and fourth-and-goal situations in the fourth quarter in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Hunter is a fine player in an offense with a quarterback that is improving quickly. His upside remains high, and he could easily break out later this season. Unfortunately, his matchup in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals isn't intriguing for FantasyScore players.

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter (knee) practiced in full Friday, Sept. 12, after being limited the other two days this week. The team is listing him as probable for Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Titans | Praise Justin Hunter

Fri, 06 Jun 2014 13:41:36 -0700

Tennessee Titans wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson praised WR Justin Hunter, saying he could be the player that puts the team into the postseason. "He can be the receiver that puts us in the playoffs, and helps us win our division," Jefferson said. "With the growth he is going to go through, if he can keep progressing he can be the receiver that puts us over the edge. He has that much potential. He has great ability, and has gotten bigger. But keep in mind this is just his second season in the league and he is learning his second offense. He is coming on, but he has to keep working. I like the course he is on."

Fri, 06 Jun 2014 11:00:09 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter is the receiver that can put the Titans into the playoffs, according to receivers coach Shawn Jefferson. Jefferson added that Hunter has great ability and has bulked up (added 15 pounds this offseason), but needs to keep working to get even better.

Fantasy Tip: Hunter has the ability to overwhelm whoever is covering him. He is currently listed as the team's third wide receiver behind Kendall Wright and Nate Washington, but if he keeps improving, he has high-end WR3 potential.

Tue, 29 Apr 2014 19:57:48 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter has bulked up 15 pounds thus far in the offseason. Hunter was a deep threat, but believes the added muscle could help when he goes over the middle because he feels "a lot more" confident about "being able to withstand injury." "I feel like I got stronger in my legs, so I can push a little harder," Hunter said. "As long as I beat (the defender), I'll be good."
