Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson to remain on kickoffs

Wed, 23 Jul 2014 20:14:58 -0700

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson will remain on kickoff returns despite an expanded role in the offense this season. "We want our best players to get their hands on the ball as much as possible. We're not going to keep him from returning kicks because he is such a dangerous weapon there," head coach Mike Zimmer said Wednesday, July 23. "He's been a very hard worker, he has improved his route running since we've been here and things are going to change for these guys in training camp when we are able to start playing bump-and-run."

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners are never thrilled to see their receiver used on kickoff returns, especially if they're in a format which does not reward individual return yardage. There is a risk of injury with no reward. However, don't shy away from Patterson despite the risk, as he is a player with a ton of offensive upside. Use a pick in the neighborhood of Rounds 4 though 6 on Patterson and you will not be sorry.

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson improving as a receiver

Thu, 03 Jul 2014 20:47:28 -0700

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson is improving as a receiver, according to QB Matt Cassel. "I just think his route-running and his ability to recognize defense" Cassel said. "I think that's huge for him, and any receiver, as you move forward."

Fantasy Tip: Patterson's natural athleticism is off the charts, and he flashed his big-play ability at times as a rookie last year. If he can begin to master the nuances of the WR position to go along with his physical tools, he could become a special player. For now, consider him a WR2 with a high ceiling for fantasy purposes.

Thu, 26 Jun 2014 20:43:16 -0700

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson has impressed CB Captain Munnerlyn this offseason. "The time we played them, he was nothing like he is now,'' Munnerlyn said. "I told him, 'The time we played you, I'm glad we caught you early.' Because if we hadn't have caught him early, he was tearing people up at the end up the year. He's really growing as a receiver, and I'm seeing it with my own two eyes.'' Munnerlyn played for the Carolina Panthers last year.
