Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson hauled in five receptions for 141 yards and a touchdown in the Week 14 game against the Baltimore Ravens. He also had four kickoff returns for a total of 111 yards, and he rushed six yards on one carry.
Fantasy Tip: Patterson was a fantasy dynamo in formats which also reward individual return yardage, but for those in standard leagues he was pretty good too. He is emerging as an impressive long-term keeper option, and imagine how good he could be with an NFL caliber quarterback throwing to him.

Fri, 15 Nov 2013 23:52:06 -0800
Minnesota Vikings coach Leslie Frazier has not yet spelled out the plan publicly, but he has hinted this week that WR Cordarrelle Patterson could start Sunday, Nov. 17, at the Seattle Seahawks ahead of WR Jerome Simpson, who was charged with drunken driving. "They drafted me to play, not ride the bench every snap," Patterson said. "If I start, I start. If I don't, I don't. I'm behind a great guy in Jerome Simpson. Me and him compete with each other just to get better."
Wed, 13 Nov 2013 11:20:46 -0800
Minnesota Vikings WR Jerome Simpson will likely play in Week 11 against the Seattle Seahawks despite being charged with a third-degree driving while intoxicated. However, head coach Leslie Frazier won't say whether Simpson will start in the game. Simpson could also face further discipline for violating the terms of his probation following a September 2011 arrest for a drug-related offense. WR Cordarrelle Patterson could be involved more if the Vikes choose to limit Simpson's availability.
Fantasy Tip: Simpson is a very risky play this weekend and should be considered a flex option at best. Patterson's stock is rising in deeper leagues as WR depth, especially if Simpson is suspended at some point this season.

Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave indicated Friday, Nov. 1, that the team has packages in place for when WRs Cordarrelle Patterson and Jerome Simpson are on the field at the same time, and the club might want to expand that package. "We didn't get a lot of plays the other night. We need to stay on the field so we can call more than a couple dozen, excluding the two-minute the other night," Musgrave said. "We want to get into our game plan because we do have some packages that we're excited about...getting both those guys out on the field and letting them do their thing.
Fantasy Tip: Patterson has been seeing a rise in playing time, and he might emerge as a useful WR3 or flex fantasy option sooner rather than later. The only problem has been the black hole that is the Minnesota quarterback situation. Until there is stability there, the fantasy ceiling for Patterson and Simpson is a bit limited.
Tue, 22 Oct 2013 09:50:51 -0700
Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson had an end-around and a season-high six targets in the team's Week 7 loss to the New York Giants Monday, Oct. 21.
Fantasy Tip: He caught three of those six passes for just 22 yards, though. There is a glimmer of hope for Patterson, but until the quarterback situation improves in Minnesota, there's not much incentive to add him to your roster.

Sat, 10 Aug 2013 15:43:56 -0700
Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said the team will continue to try to get the ball to WR Cordarrelle Patterson because he did well as a receiver in the first preseason game. "We weren't sure how fast he'd come as a receiver. For him to do what he did tonight, that's going to help his confidence. I'm sure he'll go back and work even harder to be more of a complete receiver. That's exactly what you want out of a rookie playing wide receiver in our league. He's going to be hungry coming back and we've just got to keep feeding him to help him to continue to grow," Frazier said.

Former University of Tennessee assistant coach Charlie Baggett said he believes Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson's speed and athleticism compares favorably to free-agent WR Randy Moss (49ers). "I don't want people misinterpreting me as saying Cordarrelle is better or will be better than Randy Moss," Baggett said. "When it comes to everything else that's needed to be an elite NFL receiver, he has a long way to go to reach Randy. But he definitely has that ability. He really does."
Thu, 20 Jun 2013 09:37:46 -0700
Minnesota Vikings WR Greg Jennings echoed wide-ranging statements of how impressive WR Cordarrelle Patterson during offseason workouts. Jennings said that Patterson has "that definitive step," meaning a decisive, aggressive move near the top of a route that helps a receiver create separation. It's not necessarily a recommended football move and is often corrected when a receiver is taught to make all his routes look the same in the NFL. However, it can be effective in the right setting as a pinpoint weapon, as it was for Jennings, he said.
Fantasy Tip: Jennings is mentoring Patterson, which isn't a bad sign for the youngster's future. Patterson has top-flight speed and, despite his team's shaky QB situation, should be considered a late-rounds flyer for his big-play potential.
Wed, 19 Jun 2013 19:00:43 -0700
Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson continued to see the first rep on kick returns, ahead of WR Joe Webb and CBs A.J. Jefferson, Josh Robinson and Marcus Sherels. "I think (Patterson is) more comfortable catching kickoffs right now than punts, like a lot of young guys," special teams coordinator Mike Priefer said Wednesday, June 19. "But we're making progress in both phases." Priefer said if the season were starting right now, Sherels would be the team's punt returner.

Thu, 30 May 2013 15:57:13 -0700
The Minnesota Vikings plan on easing rookie WR Cordarrelle Patterson into action behind Greg Jennings and Jerome Simpson, according to head coach Leslie Frazier. Along with a trial in kick returning, Patterson will get looks that "utilize his strengths."
Fantasy Tip: In other words, some deep balls: The big-play potential needs some polishing, but he'll keep late-rounds fantasy allure throughout the summer, or at least unless we get negative camp reports.

Thu, 16 May 2013 09:45:10 -0700
Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson will be given an opportunity to earn a starting wide receiver spot across from WR Greg Jennings this year, according to head coach Leslie Frazier. WR Joe Webb will be insurance in case Patterson doesn't pan out.
Fantasy Tip: It's tough to predict Patterson's fantasy value heading into his rookie season. Aside from Greg Jennings, Christian Ponder doesn't have much to work with at wideout, and Kyle Rudolph will remain a big target in the passing game. Patterson is a bit of a project and will have to improve his route-running skills dramatically to make an impact immediately. Consider him a late-round flier in deep leagues.

Thu, 18 Apr 2013 08:48:53 -0700
There are reportedly some red flags regarding Tennessee WR Cordarrelle Patterson's value heading into the NFL Draft. Evaluators love his size and athleticism, but he also has some mental hurdles to overcome. "Mentally, it's going to be a project," according to one league personnel man. "Running routes, he doesn't know how to do any of that stuff. You may have to keep it simple for him, but this is football. It's not building a super glider or anything." An AFC personnel director added, "Toward the end of the year, they started to go away from running Patterson down the field on routes and gave him the ball on reverses and screens, even as a halfback at times. That starts to put a question mark in your head. Why? Well, there's reasons, and it's just not being as proficient with his route-running and not having the ability to make adjustments during the game."

Patterson is viewed as a player who could see his draft stock rise significantly as a result of the combine.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will make wide receiver a top priority in this year's draft with TE Heath Miller (knee) injured and WRs Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders both similar receivers that won't strike fear in opposing secondaries due to their lack of threat on the deep routes. California WR Keenan Allen may be a target, as he's considered a top-15 pick. Tennessee WR Cordarrelle Patterson is another prospect expected to be taken in the first round, but he's not as polished as Allen and lacks top-end speed.
