Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson listed as probable

Fri, 28 Nov 2014 15:08:35 -0800

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) is probable for Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Patterson ($4,700, 9.4%) isn't worth any price with the production he's had this year and with Charles Johnson coming on lately, even with a good matchup against the Carolina Panthers.

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson misses practice

Thu, 27 Nov 2014 14:37:03 -0800

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Patterson's status for Week 13 is uncertain, so owners should continue to monitor his situation during the rest of the week. Patterson costs $4,700 on FantasyScore, but owners should look to use better options in their starting lineups.

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson sits out

Wed, 26 Nov 2014 15:11:47 -0800

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Even though the Panthers have been poor at stopping receivers this season, Patterson ($4,700) shouldn't receive a vote of confidence at FantasyScore because of his inability to make much of an impact on offense all year. Charles Johnson has basically surpassed Patterson as far as potential for the Vikes.

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson leaves game

Sun, 23 Nov 2014 17:00:29 -0800

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle, knee) left the Week 12 game against the Green Bay Packers due to ankle and knee injuries.

Fantasy Tip: The severity of Patterson's injuries are not clear, but nagging injuries have hampered him all season. At the tail end of the 2013 season, he showed some signs of brilliance, but lower-body injuries have kept him from hitting his highest gear for most of this season. FantasyScore owners should avoid him going forward until he can prove his health in one full game.

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson frustrated

Fri, 21 Nov 2014 12:49:18 -0800

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson said he is frustrated with the way he is playing and is not having fun on the field like he did last season. "It's difficult, but it's my job. I just need to focus in, go out and have fun just like last year," Patterson said. "I was having a lot of fun. This year it seems I'm not having fun. I just need to find that missing piece and have some fun."

Fantasy Tip: Patterson was one of the top sleepers entering the season but has not had many productive games. Patterson probably would only be a flex option most weeks and not an every-week starting option.

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson determined

Thu, 13 Nov 2014 14:36:59 -0800

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson is determined to find openings in the defense for QB Teddy Bridgewater in Week 11 against the Chicago Bears. "Just getting off the line," Patterson said. "If the (defensive back) gets in your face, show him who's the boss. Get them off you. Better routes. Just little things like that. It's always the little things that matter. Doing little things like that will help Teddy out big." Patterson has been a disappointment this year with 26 catches for 308 yards through nine games.

Fantasy Tip: Coming off the bye week, you'd think Minnesota has a plan in place to help Patterson succeed against one of the worst secondaries in the league. If you have the faith, go with Patterson at FantasyScore for $5,200.

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson not the focus

Thu, 13 Nov 2014 14:18:45 -0800

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson won't be the focus of the offense, and offensive coordinator Norv Turner isn't worried about forcing the ball to him. "We completed 26 balls the other day. I don't care who they go to, to be honest with you," Turner said.

Fantasy Tip: Patterson has been frustrating this year, and it seems to be wearing on the coaching staff, too. The Vikings won't force the rock to him anymore. Coming off a bye week has many optimistic that Patterson ($5,200) can find a connection with Teddy Bridgewater against the pitiful Chicago Bears defense, however.

Vikings | Teddy Bridgewater out of sync

Tue, 04 Nov 2014 13:07:12 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater and WR Cordarrelle Patterson continued to struggle on their deep connection in the Week 9 win over the Washington Redskins. Getting the ball into Patterson's hands has been a struggle ever since Bridgewater returned in Week 4. Patterson had only one catch on seven targets early in the game, and Bridgewater didn't throw his way again. Head coach Mike Zimmer admitted that there continues to be a disconnect with Bridgewater and Patterson on the field. Bridgewater has struggled on deep throws in general this year, ranking 20th in throws 20 yards and beyond.

Fantasy Tip: It's a combination of things that has led to a poor connection between Bridgewater and Patterson this year. Until they show more chemistry between the lines, Patterson is nothing more than a midrange flex with upside.

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson has only one touch

Sun, 02 Nov 2014 18:18:20 -0800

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson managed just one reception for nine yards in the Week 9 game against the Washington Redskins, although he was targeted seven times.

Fantasy Tip: The Vikings were trying to get him the ball, but it just didn't work out. On one long pass play down the left sidelines, he was wide open without a defender in sight, but he appeared to lose the ball in the sun on what would have been sure touchdown.

Wed, 29 Oct 2014 11:34:51 -0700

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson (foot) is expected to practice all week, according to head coach Mike Zimmer.

Fantasy Tip: Patterson had his best performance of the season in Week 8, leaving his owners more optimistic down the stretch. He'll cost $5,400 (10.8% of cap) against the Washington Redskins this weekend, which is another positive matchup for the youngster.

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson fine

Mon, 27 Oct 2014 12:16:23 -0700

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson (foot) is out of his walking boot and is expected to be fine, according to head coach Mike Zimmer.

Fantasy Tip: Patterson is coming off one of his most productive games of the season and appears to be on track for Week 9. Patterson should be considered a No. 3 wide receiver or flex option this week.

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson in walking boot

Sun, 26 Oct 2014 19:21:01 -0700

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson (foot) left the locker room after the Week 8 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with his left foot in a walking boot, but he said Sunday, Oct. 27, that the injury isn't serious.

Fantasy Tip: Patterson had his best day of the season, racking up 86 yards on six receptions while also rushing once for 10 yards. Sadly for fantasy owners, he cannot seem to go any length of time this season without an injury.

Thu, 16 Oct 2014 14:53:37 -0700

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson (hip) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Until Patterson can show that he can get open on a consistent basis, he's probably not a smart choice to grace your FantasyScore lineups. He'll cost you $5,200 (10.4% of cap) this weekend against the Buffalo Bills.

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson not open enough

Mon, 13 Oct 2014 13:36:33 -0700

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson has just 17 catches for 204 yards and no touchdowns through six games, and head coach Mike Zimmer said Patterson needs to get open more often. "It's all of those. It's all of those," Zimmer said. "Sometimes it's coverage based. Sometimes it's his acceleration after the top of the route. Sometimes it's the beginning of the route. It's just a combination of all of them."

Fantasy Tip: Patterson had just two catches (season-high eight targets) and 15 yards in the Week 6 loss. He admitted to a hip injury bothering him at times. Patterson just can't be trusted in any lineups until further notice.

Vikings | Hip limits Cordarrelle Patterson

Sun, 12 Oct 2014 18:04:16 -0700

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson (hip) said Sunday, Oct. 12, that he still wasn't completely healthy during the Week 6 game against the Detroit Lions. He was taken out at several different points Sunday when his injury was bothering him. He caught just two passes for 15 yards, and he had his first backfield carry since Week 1 which went for a loss of two yards. "I don't feel like I'm 100 percent. I should be next week," Patterson said. "Just keep getting treatment, just keep grinding in treatment and do what it takes."

Fantasy Tip: Patterson exploded for a big stat line in Week 1, but he has quiet since. He can be dropped in shallow fantasy leagues, but those in deeper leagues will want to hang onto him and hope he gets healthy.

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson a focus for opponents

Thu, 09 Oct 2014 14:12:35 -0700

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson had three carries for 102 yards and caught three passes for 26 yards in Week 1, but since then, he's played with three different starting quarterbacks and has seen defenses shift their focus from RB Adrian Peterson to him. In four games since, Patterson has just 12 catches for 163 yards and just one rushing attempt for a loss of seven yards. The team continues to look for ways to involve Patterson, but it's not the sole focus of the offense, according to offensive coordinator Norv Turner. Patterson was open multiple times last week, but QB Christian Ponder was unable to find him. The coaches are pleased with Patterson's work habits, and they've seen progress in him as a receiver.

Fantasy Tip: As Goessling mentions, the return of Teddy Bridgewater should help Patterson's chances of making an impact in the passing game this weekend against the Detroit Lions.

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson limited

Thu, 09 Oct 2014 14:00:50 -0700

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson (hip) was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Patterson should be able to play against the Detroit Lions this weekend. He continues to disappoint his owners as opposing teams focus on him. As a result, his FantasyScore price ($5,500; 11.0% of cap) has plummeted. Having Teddy Bridgewater back makes Patterson more attractive.

Vikings | Want Cordarrelle Patterson involved

Fri, 03 Oct 2014 11:30:58 -0700

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson needs to be more involved in the offense, and the coaching staff will work on that, but Patterson also needs to be open during plays, according to head coach Mike Zimmer. Zimmer said he believes Patterson was open during the team's Week 5 game.

Fantasy Tip: Patterson was considered a breakout candidate entering the season, but has been disappointing so far with 198 receiving yards and zero touchdown receptions in five games. Owners will need to keep their expectations low until Patterson is able to show more on the field.

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson wants more work

Fri, 03 Oct 2014 09:58:08 -0700

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson, who had just eight yards and four targets in the Week 5 blowout to the Green Bay Packers, said he wants to be more involved in the offense moving forward. "I wish I knew the answer," said Patterson. "I want to be more involved. I don't know what's going on. We have a plan. I'm sticking to the plan. I trust coach (Norv) Turner and the whole staff with what they're doing. It's going to turn around. Hopefully I get more touches." He has only one carry since Week 1 and is averaging 38 yards per game receiving. The big deficit early to the Packers forced the Vikings to largely abandon the running game.

Fantasy Tip: Patterson's lack of opportunities has really frustrated his fantasy owners. Until Norv Turner and the rest of the coaching staff figure out a way to consistently get Patterson the ball in space, he's a dicey option at FantasyScore.

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson fine

Fri, 03 Oct 2014 06:05:23 -0700

Updating previous reports, Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson (hip) said he wouldn't have left the game Thursday, Oct. 2, if it were a close game. He said he'll be fine for Week 6. He also said he wanted to be more involved in the offense after being targeted just four times in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Patterson has been a victim of the quarterback carousel. However, they must find a way to get the ball in his hands. He's a low-end WR2 right now.

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson returns

Thu, 02 Oct 2014 20:14:30 -0700

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson (hip) returned to the team's Week 5 game in the third quarter after leaving with a hip injury.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like the hip injury wasn't anything major. Patterson has the type of speed to score whenever he touches the ball, but he remains a high-risk, high-reward option at FantasyScore because of the mess that is Minnesota's quarterback situation.

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson hurts hip

Thu, 02 Oct 2014 19:36:19 -0700

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson (hip) is questionable to return to the team's Week 5 game after suffering a hip injury.

Fantasy Tip: Stay tuned for more updates on Patterson's injury. The second-year receiver has struggled to make a consistent impact, and any type of injury that limits his speed or explosiveness certainly won't help matters.

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson staying patient

Fri, 26 Sep 2014 09:22:57 -0700

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson had three carries for 102 rushing yards and a touchdown in Week 1, but he has just one carry since then - a reverse that lost seven yards. With RB Adrian Peterson not around, though, Patterson hasn't asked to be more involved in the running game. "I trust everything coach Norv Turner is doing and the offensive staff," Patterson said. "When my time comes, my time is going to come and I'll be ready for it." Turner said the New Orleans Saints matched their best cornerback, Keenan Lewis, on Patterson and limited him to four catches for 61 yards. Turner wants to find more opportunities for Patterson, but he also wants to keep the offense balanced without Peterson.

Fantasy Tip: Patterson is the team's most dynamic playmaker with Peterson not around, which makes sense why opponents will be directing most of their attention to him from now on. However, his opportunities will increase, and that'll begin in Week 4 against the Atlanta Falcons. Patterson ($6,900; 13.8% of cap) could have a big day.

Fantasy Tip: Patterson appears to be working his way back up to speed, and his injury doesn't seem like one that will linger. At full speed, he is a big play waiting to happen, and he is worth drafting as a WR2.

Sat, 26 Jul 2014 17:42:24 -0700

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson (foot) could return in the near future, but there is no definite timetable for his return, according to head coach Mike Zimmer.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Patterson should be back on the field at some point in the next week or so. He should be considered as a solid No. 2 wide receiver in most fantasy leagues.

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson to remain on kickoffs

Wed, 23 Jul 2014 20:14:58 -0700

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson will remain on kickoff returns despite an expanded role in the offense this season. "We want our best players to get their hands on the ball as much as possible. We're not going to keep him from returning kicks because he is such a dangerous weapon there," head coach Mike Zimmer said Wednesday, July 23. "He's been a very hard worker, he has improved his route running since we've been here and things are going to change for these guys in training camp when we are able to start playing bump-and-run."

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners are never thrilled to see their receiver used on kickoff returns, especially if they're in a format which does not reward individual return yardage. There is a risk of injury with no reward. However, don't shy away from Patterson despite the risk, as he is a player with a ton of offensive upside. Use a pick in the neighborhood of Rounds 4 though 6 on Patterson and you will not be sorry.

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson has high expectations

Tue, 08 Jul 2014 12:49:59 -0700

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson has high expectations for the 2014 season, thinking he could be a top-five playmaker at wide receiver. "I'm going to be a top-5 playmaker," Patterson said. "I'm a playmaker, I like to make plays. Like I tell them, just get the ball in my hands I feel like I'm special with it. I just like to do special things with the ball."

Fantasy Tip: There is a lot to be excited about with Patterson going into 2014. He should be considered a WR2 with an extremely high ceiling.

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson improving as a receiver

Thu, 03 Jul 2014 20:47:28 -0700

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson is improving as a receiver, according to QB Matt Cassel. "I just think his route-running and his ability to recognize defense" Cassel said. "I think that's huge for him, and any receiver, as you move forward."

Fantasy Tip: Patterson's natural athleticism is off the charts, and he flashed his big-play ability at times as a rookie last year. If he can begin to master the nuances of the WR position to go along with his physical tools, he could become a special player. For now, consider him a WR2 with a high ceiling for fantasy purposes.
