Lions | Joseph Fauria out for OTAs

Mon, 01 Jun 2015 19:06:45 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Joseph Fauria (ankle) will not participate in organized team activities (OTAs) due to the ankle injury he has been battling since September. However, he is expected to be ready for training camp.

Fantasy Tip: It remains to be seen whether Fauria will have any fantasy appeal this season. Remember, Eric Ebron is on the club and projected to do big things, so Fauria's role shouldn't be too large initially.

Wed, 10 Dec 2014 09:10:50 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Joseph Fauria (ankle) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Dec. 10, with an ankle injury.

Lions | Joseph Fauria limited with injury

Mon, 08 Dec 2014 12:19:17 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Joseph Fauria (ankle) was limited in Week 14 with an ankle injury and saw just 12 repetitions. There was no update or timetable on the injury.

Fantasy Tip: Brandon Pettigrew and Eric Ebron would be the two benefactors if Fauria were to miss any time and will likely be a cheap play on FantasyScore this week. If Fauria is able to play, it's best to stay away from all three of them.

Detroit Lions TE Joseph Fauria (ankle) suffered an ankle injury in Week 14 and is considered questionable to return.

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) has officially been ruled out for Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons in London. TE Joseph Fauria (ankle) is also out, and TE Brandon Pettigrew (foot) is listed as doubtful.

Fantasy Tip: The Lions will be down to their fourth and fifth string tight ends in London in Jordan Thompson and Kellen Davis, who they recently signed. Neither are viable options for any fantasy football lineups.

Lions | Jordan Thompson could have major role

Sat, 18 Oct 2014 17:35:48 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Jordan Thompson was added to the active roster from the practice squad for the team's Week 7 game, and head coach Jim Caldwell indicated that he could serve as the pass-catching tight end with TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) and TE Joseph Fauria (ankle) expected to miss the game. "Obviously in the role he'd play, he'd end up serving in the capacity where Joe and Ebron both would have played," Caldwell said. "And if that happens, he'll be ready for it."

Fantasy Tip: Several of Matthew Stafford's weapons will be missing in Week 7, and Thompson could end up seeing enough targets to make him a worthwhile sleeper.

Lions | Eric Ebron sitting out

Thu, 16 Oct 2014 13:33:17 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 16, after being limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 15. Ebron saw a career high in snaps in the team's Week 6 victory. The team is already without TE Joseph Fauria (ankle), so if Ebron can't play in Week 7 against the New Orleans Saints, TE Brandon Pettigrew would be the only active tight end on roster.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron ($3,300; 6.6% of cap) is an attractive option for your FantasyScore lineups if he plays. The Saints have been beat up by opponents all season long. Check back tomorrow for Ebron's status. If he doesn't play, Pettigrew ($3,000) is probably worth a flier if you want to go ultra-cheap at tight end.

Lions | Eric Ebron lagging in snaps

Wed, 24 Sep 2014 21:31:38 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron was expected to play a big role in offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi's revamped offense. However, the No. 10 overall pick has played just 69 snaps this season compared to 123 for TE Brandon Pettigrew and 79 for TE Joseph Fauria.

Fantasy Tip: Ebron has a bright future, and is still a solid long-term keeper prospect. But for those in re-draft leagues, and certainly for those in FantasyScore daily play, Ebron is a non-factor.

Lions | TEs working on blocking

Tue, 29 Jul 2014 21:43:37 -0700

Detroit Lions TE Brandon Pettigrew and the other tight ends have split time between working on the offensive line and working with the pass-catching receivers and running backs catching passes. Pettigrew worked with the line while TEs Eric Ebron and Joseph Fauria worked on catching passes Tuesday, July 29. "We rotate and go down there during periods," Pettigrew said. "We have five guys here, why not split up and have some guys down there and some guys down here." Pettigrew said this helps his blocking fundamentals, and aids Ebron and Fauria as well.

Tue, 08 Jul 2014 15:19:26 -0700

Lions | Joseph Fauria to still have role

Thu, 08 May 2014 20:54:26 -0700

Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi said TE Joseph Fauria will still have a role in the offense even though the team drafted TE Eric Ebron. "Joseph (Fauria) is still going to have a very strong role in the red zone. There's nothing to say that we're not going to have three tight ends on the field at some point," Lombardi said. "Every game is different, every game plan is different, but Joe has impressed me in the short time we've been able to work with him."

Lions | Eric Ebron selected 10th overall

Thu, 08 May 2014 18:12:03 -0700

The Detroit Lions selected North Carolina TE Eric Ebron with the 10th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Fantasy Tip: As if the Lions needed another offensive weapon.... He'll often line up as a wideout and, despite the presence of Brandon Pettigrew and Joseph Fauria, Ebron has starter potential in fantasy leagues. He may be overdrafted, though, especially if Detroit doesn't clear target space for him at the position before the season starts. Matthew Stafford remains a top-10 fake-football QB.

Lions | Joseph Fauria expects more production

Thu, 13 Feb 2014 10:30:28 -0800

Detroit Lions TE Joseph Fauria expects to increase his production similar to what New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham has accomplished with new offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi on board. Fauria was second on the team with seven touchdowns in his rookie year, and he expects to play an important role in the team's new offense in 2014. Lombardi worked with Graham during his first four years in the league, and Lombardi expects to bring a similar playbook to Detroit. "I told (coach Prince) I wanted to be one of the best tight ends in the NFL," Fauria said. "I think anything less than that is reaching low. I told him I wanted to make plays and help this team out."

Fantasy Tip: Fauria doesn't have the ball-control skills comparable to Graham, but it's entirely possible that he takes a big step forward with Lombardi around. Whether Brandon Pettigrew re-signs will be a big determining factor, too.
