Bills | Buffalo players out for Saturday?

Thu, 27 Aug 2015 15:19:26 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (hip) is not expected to play Saturday, Aug. 29, against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to head coach Rex Ryan. The statuses of WR Percy Harvin (hip) and RBs Bryce Brown (hamstring) and Anthony Dixon (calf) are uncertain.

Fantasy Tip: The Bills have had their fair share of injuries this offseason, especially on offense. Woods and Harvin are the more notable absences of the four. Harvin is a risky proposition in fantasy drafts this year considering his injury history. Woods is a less risky option and worth a look as a WR4 or WR5.

Bills | Robert Woods sitting out

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 21:31:58 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (hip) has been held out of team drills since last week due to a hip ailment.

Fantasy Tip: All indications are that Woods' injury is not of the serious nature. He is expected to start opposite Sammy Watkins and makes for a decent WR3/4 or flex fantasy option in deeper leagues when healthy.

Bills | Several key Bills return to practice

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 12:17:03 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson (hamstring) and WRs Sammy Watkins (glute), Robert Woods (hip) and Marcus Easley (knee) all returned to practice Saturday, Aug. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins is the biggest return for Buffalo, although Jackson and Woods are important offensive pieces as well. When healthy, Watkins can achieve WR2 production. Woods is an undervalued sleeper and should be drafted as a low-end WR4 to high-end WR5. Jackson was a PPR monster last season, but he won't see as much playing time as long as LeSean McCoy is healthy. View him as a RB4 in PPR leagues. Easley can be left on waivers.

Bills | Robert Woods back to practice

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 09:22:36 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (hip) is participating in practice Saturday, Aug. 22.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Woods is dealing with a minor injury and should be fine moving forward. He is competing with Percy Harvin for the No. 2 receiver job but should see solid playing time if he loses the job. Woods could be a late-round option in deeper leagues.

Bills | Robert Woods solid in practice

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 15:55:52 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods caught five passes for 115 yards and one touchdown during a joint practice with the Cleveland Browns Monday, Aug. 17. Woods was not facing the Browns' top cornerbacks during the practice.

Fantasy Tip: Woods is a candidate for the No. 2 receiver job and should have a decent role in the passing game even if he does not win the job. Woods could be a late-round option in drafts and could have move value in point-per-reception leagues.

Bills | Robert Woods showing consistency

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 14:47:16 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods has been one of the most consistent players for the Bills during training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Woods could be the No. 3 wide receiver this year now that Percy Harvin is in town, with Sammy Watkins being the No. 1 receiver. If Watkins or Harvin miss any time this season, however, Woods could prove to be a sneaky, valuable addition to fantasy rosters.

Bills | Buffalo still looking for No. 2 WR

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 07:11:56 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Percy Harvin has been pushing WR Robert Woods for the No. 2 wide receiver job during training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Both players probably will see solid playing time this season, so it does not matter which player wins the starting job. Harvin and Woods could be late-round option in most leagues, but Woods may have more value in point-per-reception leagues.

Bills | Percy Harvin struggling with routes

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 18:17:31 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Percy Harvin required detailed instruction on how to run routes during OTAs, and Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News believes Harvin will open the year as the No. 3 receiver behind WR Sammy Watkins and WR Robert Woods.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin still has big-play speed, but his lack of consistency isn't going to improve as the No. 3 receiver in a run-heavy offense that lacks a reliable quarterback. At best, he is a late-round flier deeper leagues.

Bills | Sanjay Lal talks Buffalo WRs

Tue, 19 May 2015 06:10:06 -0700

Buffalo Bills wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal discussed the team's wide receivers in great detail Monday, May 18, saying he likes the flexibility among the corps and their ability to execute on the field. Lal believes Bills WR Sammy Watkins can become a complete receiver, and he praised WR Robert Woods' ability as a route runner. Lal doesn't want to pigeonhole WR Percy Harvin as being a gadget-play receiver.

Fantasy Tip: While Lal is right about his primary receiving weapons, someone still has to get the ball into their hands from a cast of likely mediocre quarterback options. Furthermore, Buffalo has invested a tremendous amount of money into their running game and have a head coach in Rex Ryan whose mantra on offense has been "ground and pound." Temper your fantasy expectations in all formats for this tethered passing game full of explosive players.

Bills | Robert Woods set for fewer targets?

Fri, 10 Apr 2015 11:32:34 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods could see a notable drop in targets in 2015 after the additions of RB LeSean McCoy, WR Percy Harvin and TE Charles Clay. Woods was targeted 104 times in 2014 and had 699 yards. However, Woods thinks he'll still have plenty of opportunities to make an impact in the passing game. He'll be playing for new offensive coordinator Greg Roman, and Woods already believes Roman's scheme will create more chances for the offense to make big plays.

Fantasy Tip: Woods caught 65 passes and had five touchdowns in 2014 in his sophomore season. With the new additions to Buffalo and Rex Ryan's reputation as a ground-and-pound coach, it seems inevitable that Woods will see his production drop in his third full year. Consider Woods strictly for receiver depth in deeper leagues in 2015.
