Bills | Robert Woods could be replaced

Fri, 29 Jul 2016 18:34:25 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods had just two catches for more than 22 yards last year, and beat writer Jerry Sullivan believes QB Tyrod Taylor's love for the deep ball will lead to Woods being replaced as the No. 2 receiver.

Fantasy Tip: Woods' blocking ability will likely keep him on the field in Buffalo's run-heavy offense, but at best, he is a WR5. Don't be surprised if someone else emerges as the second-best fantasy receiver behind Sammy Watkins, but the depth chart is cloudy.

Bills | Robert Woods played with serious injury

Thu, 07 Jul 2016 13:38:09 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (groin) played with a torn groin on both the left and right side for about half the season last year. Woods said he feels great now, though, and he looked more quick and explosive this offseason, too. Additionally, wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal said Woods' route-running is better than he's ever seen.

Woods said that his chemistry with QB Tyrod Taylor has also improved due to first-team repetitions with each other, and after playing together some of last season.

Fantasy Tip: It's easy to get hyped about a player during the offseason, but expectations should still be tempered for Woods. He'll probably be the Bills' No. 2 wide receiver, but he shouldn't be drafted as more than a WR5.

Bills | Robert Woods has had solid offseason

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 13:36:24 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods has performed well during offseason workouts, and wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal said Woods has been impressive in his route running. He has been explosive off the line, quick in and out of breaks and acrobatic while going for passes in the air, according to BuffaloBills.com's Chris Brown.

Fantasy Tip: Woods should have a good chance to win the No. 2 receiver job during training camp and will be healthy for training camp. He should have a solid role in the passing game and will be a decent late-round option in most leagues.

Bills | Robert Woods has his speed back

Fri, 27 May 2016 18:23:20 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods said he feels like he has his speed back this year and expects to be able to create separation from defenders.

Fantasy Tip: Woods has WR5 potential as the likely starter across from Sammy Watkins, and if Watkins' broken foot causes him to miss any time at the start of the year, Woods could be a sneaky play in daily formats.

Bills | Robert Woods looking good

Sat, 21 May 2016 08:16:32 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods has looked explosive during offseason workouts after dealing with injuries in 2015, according to QB Tyrod Taylor.

Fantasy Tip: Woods should be one of the starting receivers in 2016 and likely will have a solid role in the passing game. Woods should be a late-round option in deeper leagues and may be used as a matchup play by owners.

Bills | Robert Woods cleared for workouts

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 15:57:06 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (groin) has been cleared to participate in offseason workouts after he underwent groin surgery this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Woods is probably the top candidate for the No. 2 receiver job at this point but likely will have to compete with other receivers for the job. Woods posted 552 yards and three touchdowns in 2015 and probably should only be a late-round option in deeper leagues.

Bills | Robert Woods losing starting job?

Wed, 27 Jan 2016 12:22:24 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods was mentioned in a group of wide receivers by general manager Doug Whaley who are considered not to be No. 2 receivers. Whaley said the Bills have a mix of guys who may not be bona fide No. 2 receivers, but who they can use in different roles.

Fantasy Tip: Woods' play has been fairly lackluster over the course of his career. He has played well particularly when Sammy Watkins has been injured, but when Watkins is healthy there's not really another big receiving threat, as Whaley alluded to. Woods may still need to fight for a starting wide receiver position this offseason.

Bills | Robert Woods' season over

Tue, 22 Dec 2015 14:23:53 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (groin) will not play again in 2015 and has been placed on the Reserve/Injured list. He finished the season with 47 catches for 552 yards and three touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: Sammy Watkins ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) will see more work but also more attention in these final two games. It's hard to predict who will step up opposite Woods, though, between the likes of Chris Hogan ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) and Marcus Easley ($2,000). Neither of them are worth a look on FantasyScore.

Bills | Robert Woods has significant injury

Mon, 21 Dec 2015 10:33:21 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (groin) suffered a significant groin injury during the team's Week 15 game and probably will miss the rest of the season, according to head coach Rex Ryan.

Fantasy Tip: Chris Hogan likely will receive more targets with Woods out of the lineup but is not a great fantasy option for owners. Sammy Watkins is probably the only receiver on the team that fantasy owners should consider using in the last two weeks of the season.

Bills | Probable tag for Robert Woods

Fri, 18 Dec 2015 11:35:52 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (hip) was limited in practice for the second straight day Friday, Dec. 18, but is probable to play against the Washington Redskins in Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Woods ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has a prime opportunity to pay off for FantasyScore owners as a sleeper this weekend with Charles Clay out. Tyrod Taylor should have to look to Woods more often in the passing game against a beatable secondary.

Bills | Robert Woods listed as limited

Thu, 17 Dec 2015 14:26:26 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (hip) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Woods ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) was added the injury list Thursday, so owners will need to keep any eye on the situation. He is coming off a game where he posted 106 yards but did not post more than 44 yards in the previous five games. Owners should consider other options for their fantasy lineups this week.

Bills | Robert Woods surpasses 100-yard mark

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 14:18:14 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods caught five passes for 106 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Woods has been pretty quiet this season before his season-high 106 yards this week. Woods has caught at least five passes in only two games this season and is not the best option against the Washington Redskins in Week 15.

Bills | Robert Woods mediocre in loss

Mon, 23 Nov 2015 22:43:14 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods posted four receptions for 44 yards in the Week 11 game against the New England Patriots Monday, Nov. 23. He was targeted nine times.

Fantasy Tip: Woods remains nothing more than a WR3 or flex play in FantasyScore going forward.

Bills | Robert Woods plays well

Sun, 25 Oct 2015 11:37:45 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods caught nine passes for 84 yards and one touchdown in the Week 7 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: Woods served as the No. 1 receiver with Sammy Watkins and Percy Harvin out of the lineup. Woods likely will lose some targets when the other receivers return but should still have a role in the passing game. Woods probably should not be a starting option most weeks.

Bills | Buffalo wideouts do very little in loss

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 20:16:06 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Chris Hogan was the best of the team's wideouts in Week 4 against the New York Giants, finishing with five receptions for 43 yards. WR Robert Woods pulled down three balls for 33 yards on five targets, and WR Percy Harvin had three grabs for 26 yards on eight targets.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has the most big-play ability for FantasyScore owners, while Hogan ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Woods ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) are less attractive options.

Bills | Robert Woods probable for Week 1

Fri, 11 Sep 2015 12:50:15 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (hip) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 11, and is listed as probable for Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Woods ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) should see regular playing time as the No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in Week 1, but owners on FantasyScore should be able to find more helpful options at the position.

Bills | Robert Woods fully practices

Thu, 10 Sep 2015 14:51:35 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (hip) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Woods ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has a chance to be one of the starting receivers in Week 1 if he is healthy. Woods could see some targets during the game, but owners should be able to find better options to use in their lineups.

Bills | Robert Woods practices in full Wednesday

Wed, 09 Sep 2015 14:37:31 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (hip) practiced in full Wednesday, Sept. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Woods ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) should be fine to play against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1. With both Percy Harvin and Sammy Watkins dealing with injuries, too, Buffalo's receiving corps is underwhelming for owners playing on FantasyScore. Buffalo was already expected to be a run-first team, too, and they'll need to do plenty of that against Indy in order to stay in the game.

Bills | Buffalo players out for Saturday?

Thu, 27 Aug 2015 15:19:26 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (hip) is not expected to play Saturday, Aug. 29, against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to head coach Rex Ryan. The statuses of WR Percy Harvin (hip) and RBs Bryce Brown (hamstring) and Anthony Dixon (calf) are uncertain.

Fantasy Tip: The Bills have had their fair share of injuries this offseason, especially on offense. Woods and Harvin are the more notable absences of the four. Harvin is a risky proposition in fantasy drafts this year considering his injury history. Woods is a less risky option and worth a look as a WR4 or WR5.

Bills | Robert Woods sitting out

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 21:31:58 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (hip) has been held out of team drills since last week due to a hip ailment.

Fantasy Tip: All indications are that Woods' injury is not of the serious nature. He is expected to start opposite Sammy Watkins and makes for a decent WR3/4 or flex fantasy option in deeper leagues when healthy.

Bills | Several key Bills return to practice

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 12:17:03 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson (hamstring) and WRs Sammy Watkins (glute), Robert Woods (hip) and Marcus Easley (knee) all returned to practice Saturday, Aug. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins is the biggest return for Buffalo, although Jackson and Woods are important offensive pieces as well. When healthy, Watkins can achieve WR2 production. Woods is an undervalued sleeper and should be drafted as a low-end WR4 to high-end WR5. Jackson was a PPR monster last season, but he won't see as much playing time as long as LeSean McCoy is healthy. View him as a RB4 in PPR leagues. Easley can be left on waivers.

Bills | Robert Woods back to practice

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 09:22:36 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (hip) is participating in practice Saturday, Aug. 22.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Woods is dealing with a minor injury and should be fine moving forward. He is competing with Percy Harvin for the No. 2 receiver job but should see solid playing time if he loses the job. Woods could be a late-round option in deeper leagues.

Bills | Robert Woods solid in practice

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 15:55:52 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods caught five passes for 115 yards and one touchdown during a joint practice with the Cleveland Browns Monday, Aug. 17. Woods was not facing the Browns' top cornerbacks during the practice.

Fantasy Tip: Woods is a candidate for the No. 2 receiver job and should have a decent role in the passing game even if he does not win the job. Woods could be a late-round option in drafts and could have move value in point-per-reception leagues.

Bills | Robert Woods showing consistency

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 14:47:16 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods has been one of the most consistent players for the Bills during training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Woods could be the No. 3 wide receiver this year now that Percy Harvin is in town, with Sammy Watkins being the No. 1 receiver. If Watkins or Harvin miss any time this season, however, Woods could prove to be a sneaky, valuable addition to fantasy rosters.

Bills | Buffalo still looking for No. 2 WR

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 07:11:56 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Percy Harvin has been pushing WR Robert Woods for the No. 2 wide receiver job during training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Both players probably will see solid playing time this season, so it does not matter which player wins the starting job. Harvin and Woods could be late-round option in most leagues, but Woods may have more value in point-per-reception leagues.

Bills | Percy Harvin struggling with routes

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 18:17:31 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Percy Harvin required detailed instruction on how to run routes during OTAs, and Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News believes Harvin will open the year as the No. 3 receiver behind WR Sammy Watkins and WR Robert Woods.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin still has big-play speed, but his lack of consistency isn't going to improve as the No. 3 receiver in a run-heavy offense that lacks a reliable quarterback. At best, he is a late-round flier deeper leagues.

Bills | Sanjay Lal talks Buffalo WRs

Tue, 19 May 2015 06:10:06 -0700

Buffalo Bills wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal discussed the team's wide receivers in great detail Monday, May 18, saying he likes the flexibility among the corps and their ability to execute on the field. Lal believes Bills WR Sammy Watkins can become a complete receiver, and he praised WR Robert Woods' ability as a route runner. Lal doesn't want to pigeonhole WR Percy Harvin as being a gadget-play receiver.

Fantasy Tip: While Lal is right about his primary receiving weapons, someone still has to get the ball into their hands from a cast of likely mediocre quarterback options. Furthermore, Buffalo has invested a tremendous amount of money into their running game and have a head coach in Rex Ryan whose mantra on offense has been "ground and pound." Temper your fantasy expectations in all formats for this tethered passing game full of explosive players.

Bills | Robert Woods set for fewer targets?

Fri, 10 Apr 2015 11:32:34 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods could see a notable drop in targets in 2015 after the additions of RB LeSean McCoy, WR Percy Harvin and TE Charles Clay. Woods was targeted 104 times in 2014 and had 699 yards. However, Woods thinks he'll still have plenty of opportunities to make an impact in the passing game. He'll be playing for new offensive coordinator Greg Roman, and Woods already believes Roman's scheme will create more chances for the offense to make big plays.

Fantasy Tip: Woods caught 65 passes and had five touchdowns in 2014 in his sophomore season. With the new additions to Buffalo and Rex Ryan's reputation as a ground-and-pound coach, it seems inevitable that Woods will see his production drop in his third full year. Consider Woods strictly for receiver depth in deeper leagues in 2015.

Bills | Robert Woods expected to play

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 11:44:25 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 5, and is listed as probable for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Woods has posted solid numbers the last two weeks and will look to continue his strong play. Woods could be a flex option on FantasyScore at $3,600, but owners should proceed with caution since he will play facing the Denver Broncos.

Bills | Three Bills WRs are limited

Thu, 04 Dec 2014 13:16:14 -0800

Buffalo Bills WRs Chris Hogan (hamstring), Sammy Watkins (hip) and Robert Woods (ankle) were all limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 4.

Fantasy Tip: All three have a good chance of suiting up against the Denver Broncos. Hogan ($3,100) is the cheapest of the three as a short-area target for Kyle Orton. Denver's cornerbacks are pretty solid, but could be left one-on-one often against Watkins ($5,700) and Woods ($3,600). If Buffalo falls behind early and is forced to the air often, all three should benefit at FantasyScore.

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.

Bills | Chris Hogan the No. 2 wideout

Fri, 14 Nov 2014 09:50:20 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Chris Hogan now has caught at least five passes in four of the team's last five games, and he has surpassed WRs Robert Woods and Mike Williams as the second option behind WR Sammy Watkins in the team's short passing game. Watkins was mostly a non-factor in Week 11 against Miami Dolphins CB Brent Grimes.

Fantasy Tip: Hogan entered Week 11 costing the minimum for wide receivers ($3,000) at FantasyScore. That figure is likely to rise for next week, but probably not all that much. With Kyle Orton's dink-and-dunk ways, Hogan should now be on your radar for a fantasy flex option.

Buffalo Bills WR Mike Williams started ahead of WR Robert Woods in the preseason game against the Carolina Panthers Friday, Aug. 8. Williams had one grab for 28 yards, while Woods led the team with four grabs and he posted 31 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Williams and Woods are battling for a starting job, and it appears Williams has a leg up after starting the first two exhibition games. However, there is plenty of time remaining in training camp and the preseason. The winner of the battle will be best used as a WR4 in most fantasy formats.
