Arizona Cardinals RB Stepfan Taylor worked with the first-team offense in place of RB Andre Ellington (neck) Tuesday, July 29. Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com believes the move means that Taylor is ahead of RB Jonathan Dwyer in the battle for the No. 2 RB job.
Fantasy Tip: Should Ellington go down with an injury during the year or prove unable to handle the bulk of the carries, it looks like Taylor could be the back to grab. Keep his name in mind heading into the season.

Tue, 29 Jul 2014 11:39:04 -0700

Fri, 25 Jul 2014 22:56:59 -0700
Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington is ready to be the bell cow in the offense, according to head coach Bruce Arians. The big thing for Ellington will be his development as a pass catcher.
Fantasy Tip: Ellington has the chance to be a solid RB2 in most fantasy leagues, and he will be particularly attractive in leagues which reward points per reception (PPR).
Tue, 15 Jul 2014 19:42:26 -0700
Arizona Cardinals RB Stepfan Taylor and RB Jonathan Dwyer will both be used to spell RB Andre Ellington this season, according to ESPN.com's Josh Weinfuss.
Fantasy Tip: Unless Taylor or Dwyer can separate and become the clear No. 2 back, it is going to be tough to know which player is worth owning as a potential handcuff to Ellington.
Wed, 28 May 2014 05:43:05 -0700
Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington is expected to receive 25-30 touches per game, according to head coach Bruce Arians.
Fantasy Tip: Ellington should be a solid RB2 and has enhanced value in PPR leagues. With that many touches per game, he could develop into an RB1 before season's end.
Fri, 28 Mar 2014 11:11:09 -0700
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians expanded on how the team plans to use RB Andre Ellington this year at the owners meetings this week. "He is still not a guy who you will pound up the middle 30 times a game and survive," Arians said. "He can run the football 30 times a game if you do it correctly, but you'd rather have him have 10 catches and 20 carries and let Stepfan Taylor or (Jonathan) Dwyer have the rest of the carries pound the rest of the ball up in there."
Fantasy Tip: This much is clear: The Cardinals want Ellington to be their lead back, but like most teams these days, they'll be wary not to overuse him. But Ellington will see plenty of touches each game, probably enough to make him a legitimate RB2 with upside to break out. He's an ideal candidate in PPR formats, too.
Fri, 21 Feb 2014 07:33:13 -0800
Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington has added 10 pounds already this offseason. Head coach Bruce Arians said they want to build the offense around him.
Fantasy Tip: Ellington will likely be Arizona's lead back next season with Rashard Mendenhall expected to depart in free agency. However, Stepfan Taylor should cut into Ellington's touches enough to make him more of an RB2. Ellington will be more valuable in point-per-reception leagues.
Thu, 20 Feb 2014 10:04:40 -0800
Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim is confident in RB Stepfan Taylor as a complement to RB Andre Ellington if impending free-agent RB Rashard Mendenhall leaves in free agency.
Fri, 10 Jan 2014 17:09:52 -0800
Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (knee) will not require surgery for the knee injury he suffered late in the season. He plans to rehab the injury, and be up to speed when the team returns to practice in the spring. "He is such a mismatch," head coach Bruce Arians said Friday, Jan. 10. "If he is your running back and he's matched up on safeties and linebackers, he can really improve in that area. It's something that he's never done, and he got better and better all year."
Fantasy Tip: Ellington went for more than 1,000 total yards from scrimmage, posting 652 rushing yards and 371 receiving yards in his rookie season. With Arians hinting that Ellington could line up as a receiver, fantasy owners in keeper formats have to be extremely happy. It sounds as if Ellington has a bright future in the Arizona offense, and his role looks to be expanding once he gets healthy.

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (quadriceps) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 20, and is listed as probable for Week 16.
Fantasy Tip: It looks like Ellington will be able to play this week and should be considered a flex option in standard leagues and a No. 2 running back or flex option in point-per-reception leagues.

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (thigh) is dealing with a thigh bruise, which forced him out of the overtime portion of the Week 15 game against the Tennessee Titans. As long as the tissue trauma to Ellington's thigh is relatively mild, and he is able to run without pain by late in the week, Ellington has a good chance of being able to play in the Week 16 game.

Thu, 05 Dec 2013 13:44:13 -0800
Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 5.
Fantasy Tip: Ellington said he expects to play in the game. However, he's lost some intrigue in recent weeks with Rashard Mendenhall returning to full health and looking more explosive. In PPR leagues, Ellington is a flex, at best.

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said Sunday, Dec. 1, that RB Andre Ellington (knee) was "never close" to being able to play in the Week 13 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Fantasy Tip: Ellington has emerged as a useful fantasy option this season, but fantasy owners will want to be extra careful to monitor the practice report in the upcoming week before deciding on whether to use the rookie in Week 14.
Sun, 01 Dec 2013 08:39:32 -0800

Fri, 29 Nov 2013 15:05:24 -0800
Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 29, and is listed as questionable for Week 13.
Fantasy Tip: Owners will have to check the inactive list to see if he will play this week but missing practice may not be a good sign. If he is able to play, he probably should be considered a No. 3 running back or a flex option. Rashard Mendenhall likely would receive more playing time if Ellington misses the game.
Thu, 28 Nov 2013 15:02:14 -0800
Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 28.
Tue, 12 Nov 2013 11:23:33 -0800
Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington took three direct snaps from center in the wildcat package in Week 10 against the Houston Texans, running for 12 yards on two of them and handing off the other time. Head coach Bruce Arians only plans to use the wildcat when the quarterback isn't on the field, and Ellington expects the team to use more of it moving forward.
Fantasy Tip: Ellington is a solid PPR play every week, at least as a flex, even though Rashard Mendenhall is still technically the starter.
Sat, 09 Nov 2013 06:10:48 -0800
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said he would like to get RB Andre Ellington around 20 touches a game. Arians talked about Ellington being used as a wide receiver to get him out in space.
Fri, 08 Nov 2013 14:13:54 -0800
Arizona Cardinals RB Rashard Mendenhall (toe) practiced in full Friday, Nov. 8, and is probable for Week 10.
Fantasy Tip: Mendy is a weak flex option due to his injury and the fact that he continues to yield valuable touches to the more explosive and dynamic Andre Ellington. Mendenhall just inspires very little confidence these days.
Tue, 29 Oct 2013 19:03:37 -0700
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said Tuesday, Oct. 29, that he would like to get RB Andre Ellington more touches. Offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Harold Goodwin said he thinks the rookie Ellington is smart enough to handle a lot of carries, but he doesn't want to get Ellington beat up.
Mon, 28 Oct 2013 20:36:27 -0700
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians was pleased with the performance of RB Andre Ellington in Week 8, but he noted that the rookie needs to improve his pass blocking if he wants "to stay out there."
Fantasy Tip: Ellington has 7.74 yards per rush, which leads the NFL among rushers with at least 40 carries. Still, the head coach is taking it slow with Ellington, and he should still be considered as nothing more than a low-end RB2 or flex fantasy option in most leagues.
Sun, 27 Oct 2013 22:04:11 -0700
Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington rushed for 154 yards on 15 carries and scored an 80-yard touchdown in his team's 27-13 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Oct. 27. Ellington was starting in place of injured RB Rashard Mendenhall.
Fantasy Tip: You hate to see a starter lose his job due to injury, but the fact Ellington was this effective against Atlanta and got some praise from coach Bruce Arians afterward suggests a change might be coming. At the least, handcuff Ellington if you have Mendenhall or pick him up quickly off the waiver wire. Ellington could have a few more games like this before 2013 is done.
Sun, 27 Oct 2013 06:25:46 -0700
Arizona Cardinals RB Rashard Mendenhall (toe) will not play in the team's Week 8 game. RB Andre Ellington will get the start.
Fantasy Tip: Ellington is a low-end RB2 option, and is likely to see 20-25 carries today. He could be an interesting option if you are looking for last minute running back help.
Fri, 25 Oct 2013 20:32:14 -0700
Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington is expected to draw the start in Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons with RB Rashard Mendenhall (toe) doubtful. Still, head coach Bruce Arians, offensive coordinator Harold Goodwin and general manager Steve Keim each want to be careful not to overuse the rookie because of his slight build. "I look at him the same way," Arians said Friday, Oct. 25. "It's still a situational...I don't use the word 'committee', but we'll monitor how many times he carries."
Fantasy Tip: While Ellington should see a more regular role, and is certainly worth a look as a low-end RB2, must-start RB3 or solid flex play, don't expect to see him get more than 20-25 touches, which is what the brass seems most comfortable giving him.
Fri, 25 Oct 2013 12:36:46 -0700
Arizona Cardinals RB Rashard Mendenhall (toe) is listed as doubtful for Week 8. RB Andre Ellington likely will start at running back with RB Stepfan Taylor being the No. 2 running back. Head coach Bruce Arians said RB Ryan Williams could be active for the game, but that would be a game-time decision.
Fantasy Tip: Ellington probably will receive most of the work at running back if Mendenhall is out for the game. Ellington should be seen as a No. 2 running back or flex option for most owners this week.
Thu, 24 Oct 2013 15:13:05 -0700
Arizona Cardinals RB Rashard Mendenhall (toe) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 24.
Fantasy Tip: Mendenhall has been ineffective this season and now has an injury going against him. He's an RB3 or flex, at best. Andre Ellington has much more upside, especially in point-per-reception formats.
Mon, 07 Oct 2013 13:32:28 -0700
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said he sees RB Andre Ellington playing 30 to 35 snaps per game and does not think his body could handle a heavier workload. Ellington will continue seeing time at running back and wide receiver.
Mon, 30 Sep 2013 10:35:56 -0700
Arizona Cardinals RB Rashard Mendenhall fumbled twice and dropped a key pass in the team's Week 4 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he also scampered out of bounds late in the game when the team was trying to run out the clock. "Rashard had a very tough day and he can't play that way. He can't run out of bounds. He's a veteran. And to run out of bounds at the end of the game, that was probably the worst mistake he made all day. We need to practice him a little bit harder. I think we've been too easy on him in practice because of his injuries, and we need to hone him up more because he's not gaining anything," head coach Bruce Arians said.
Fantasy Tip: Mendenhall has been dealing with nagging injuries, which has limited his practice time during the week. His play has been pretty disappointing, and Andre Ellington continued to look good Sunday. If Mendy continues to struggle, don't be surprised if Ellington gets more touches. Ellington is worth owning as a handcuff to Mendenhall in deeper setups.
Mon, 16 Sep 2013 08:38:28 -0700
Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington is working his way to becoming the team's third-down back. He has become a big part of the passing game.
Fantasy Tip: He caught two passes for 42 yards and a score in Week 2. He's someone you may consider grabbing off the waiver wire.
Tue, 10 Sep 2013 17:17:46 -0700
Arizona Cardinals RB Ryan Williams is now listed fifth on the running back depth chart behind (in order) RBs Rashard Mendenhall, Alfonso Smith, Stepfan Taylor and Andre Ellington. Ellington is listed fourth despite having eight offensive snaps to Taylor's zero in Week 1 against the St. Louis Rams.

Arizona Cardinals CB Javier Arenas (hip), RB Andre Ellington (hamstring), TE D.C. Jefferson (knee), C Mike Leach (hamstring) and DT Dan Williams (ankle) are probable for Week 1. Roberts was limited in practice Friday, Sept. 6, while the others practiced in full.
