Cowboys | Dallas to add another RB?

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 16:48:41 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RBs Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden are both unlikely to play in the team's preseason finale Thursday, Sept. 3, and vice president Stephen Jones stopped short of saying the Cowboys were set at the running back position heading into the regular season. Jones didn't rule out Dallas signing a young running back to add to the mix. General manager Jerry Jones, however, is not surprised that there hasn't been separation between Randle and McFadden this preseason.

Fantasy Tip: Randle has everything needed to perform at an RB1 level this year for Dallas behind an elite offensive line if he can make the most of his touches. McFadden is a necessary handcuff to Randle, though, as a third-down back that could take notable goal-line carries away.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle could have 10-15 carries

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 05:28:47 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle could have 10-15 carries per game with RB Darren McFadden slightly below that, in the opinion of beat writer Drew Davison

Fantasy Tip: Randle is a low-end RB2 or a high-end RB3. McFadden is a midrange RB3, and Lance Dunbar will be involved some as an RB5.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle part of committee?

Fri, 28 Aug 2015 19:06:11 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle will share reps with RB Darren McFadden and RB Lance Dunbar because the Cowboys "intend to take a committee approach," according to Drew Davison of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Fantasy Tip: With Randle unable to separate himself as the lead back, he should be considered a low-end RB2. However, he has plenty of upside if he can eventually earn a bulk of the carries.

Cowboys | None of Dallas RBs standing out

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 18:10:54 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle had seven carries for 30 yards in the preseason game Sunday, Aug. 23, against the San Francisco 49ers, while RB Darren McFadden had three totes for just four yards. RB Lance Dunbar didn't have a run from scrimmage, and managed just two grabs for three yards. "We didn't run the ball very well," head coach Jason Garrett said. "Obviously we were trying to control the line of scrimmage and didn't do a very good job of that." The team was also playing without three starters along the offensive line, so that needs to be taken into account.

Fantasy Tip: Perhaps Jerry Jones and the Dallas braintrust are re-thinking their decision to let DeMarco Murray walk in the offseason. Randle appears to be the frontrunner for the starting, and all indications are he has had the best camp, but it could be a three-headed monster with a 50-30-20 sort of split until one emerges as the clear-cut bellcow. That's just an estimate and not based on any reports, but it is something to keep in mind, especially for FantasyScore players early in the season.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle won't suit up

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 16:13:24 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle (oblique) won't play in a preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers Sunday, Aug. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Randle was on track to be the starter in Week 1, and while the injury isn't considered serious, he could end up giving away some playing time to Darren McFadden if it happens to linger. That being said, Randle is still the safer pick, and he is worth drafting as a RB2.

Cowboys | Dallas expected to have top RBs Sunday

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 14:33:07 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RBs Joseph Randle (oblique), Darren McFadden (hamstring) and Lance Dunbar (ankle) are all expected to receive some playing time during the second preseason game Sunday, Aug. 23, according to owner/general manager Jerry Jones.

Fantasy Tip: All three running backs have dealt with minor injuries during training camp, but they appear ready to play. Randle should see most of the work this season and could be a middle-round draft pick. McFadden should see limited work during games and could be a late-round option or a handcuff to Randle. Dunbar should serve as the team's third-down back and could have value in point-per-reception leagues.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle aggravated injury

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 05:21:07 -0700

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle (oblique) aggravated his oblique injury Thursday, Aug. 20, and is doubtful for the second preseason game Sunday, Aug. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Randle isn't expected to be shut down very long and is still a good RB2 in fantasy.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle leaves practice

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 16:34:03 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle (oblique) left practice early Thursday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Randle could have aggravated the oblique injury he's been dealing with. It doesn't sound like anything major, but it's still worth monitoring. If he's healthy enough for the start of the regular season, he should still be viewed as a low-end RB2 to high-end RB3.

Cowboys | Dallas to use running-back-by-committee?

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 16:31:29 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden hinted that the Cowboys will use a running-back-by-committee approach this season, mainly between he and RB Joseph Randle. "You know the competitor in me definitely wants to be the No. 1 guy that goes out there. But at the same time, it's like, man, you know we're going to split carries. So whoever goes out there or goes out there second -- I just know whenever I do get a chance to get the ball in my hands, I'm going to go out there and go 110%," McFadden said.

Fantasy Tip: Dallas' backfield is a muddled picture, but Randle is expected to see first crack at the majority role. However, he will yield carries to McFadden if he can stay healthy, so owning both in your fantasy league would be idea. The good news is that both runners are working behind an elite offensive line.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle may fully practice

Sat, 15 Aug 2015 07:22:03 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle (oblique) could participate in team drills during practice Saturday, Aug. 15. Randle has been limited because of an oblique injury.

Fantasy Tip: Randle is considered the frontrunner for the starting running back job and should win the job if he plays well during the preseason. He probably will have to share some of his carries with other running backs on the roster, but he could be a middle-round option in some leagues.
