Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians expanded on how the team plans to use RB Andre Ellington this year at the owners meetings this week. "He is still not a guy who you will pound up the middle 30 times a game and survive," Arians said. "He can run the football 30 times a game if you do it correctly, but you'd rather have him have 10 catches and 20 carries and let Stepfan Taylor or (Jonathan) Dwyer have the rest of the carries pound the rest of the ball up in there."
Fantasy Tip: This much is clear: The Cardinals want Ellington to be their lead back, but like most teams these days, they'll be wary not to overuse him. But Ellington will see plenty of touches each game, probably enough to make him a legitimate RB2 with upside to break out. He's an ideal candidate in PPR formats, too.

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington has added 10 pounds already this offseason. Head coach Bruce Arians said they want to build the offense around him.
Fantasy Tip: Ellington will likely be Arizona's lead back next season with Rashard Mendenhall expected to depart in free agency. However, Stepfan Taylor should cut into Ellington's touches enough to make him more of an RB2. Ellington will be more valuable in point-per-reception leagues.

Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim is confident in RB Stepfan Taylor as a complement to RB Andre Ellington if impending free-agent RB Rashard Mendenhall leaves in free agency.

The Arizona Cardinals have declared LB Dontay Moch, OG Earl Watford, TE Rob Housler, DL Ron Talley, QB Ryan Lindley, RB Ryan Williams, RB Stepfan Taylor inactive for Week 15.

Arizona Cardinals RB Rashard Mendenhall (toe) is listed as doubtful for Week 8. RB Andre Ellington likely will start at running back with RB Stepfan Taylor being the No. 2 running back. Head coach Bruce Arians said RB Ryan Williams could be active for the game, but that would be a game-time decision.
Fantasy Tip: Ellington probably will receive most of the work at running back if Mendenhall is out for the game. Ellington should be seen as a No. 2 running back or flex option for most owners this week.

It appears as though Arizona Cardinals RB Ryan Williams will stay inactive on game days unless there is an injury to a running back ahead of him on the depth chart. RB Stepfan Taylor has added value because of his importance on special teams.

Arizona Cardinals RB Ryan Williams is now listed fifth on the running back depth chart behind (in order) RBs Rashard Mendenhall, Alfonso Smith, Stepfan Taylor and Andre Ellington. Ellington is listed fourth despite having eight offensive snaps to Taylor's zero in Week 1 against the St. Louis Rams.

Arizona Cardinals beat writer Mike Jurecki believes RB Stepfan Taylor will be used in short-yardage situations and will see the goal line carries.
Fantasy Tip: Taylor is listed as the third RB on the depth chart behind Rashard Mendenhall and Ryan Williams, so don't look for him to make much of a fantasy splash, at least initially. He is worth stashing away in long-term keeper formats.

Arizona Cardinals running backs coach Stump Mitchell is spending his vacation working with rookie RB Stepfan Taylor, working on plays and protections. Taylor did not participate in organized team activities (OTAs) or minicamp due to the fact Taylor just graduated from Stanford Saturday, June 15.
Fantasy Tip: The coaching staff says Taylor has quickly caught up, as Stanford uses a similar offense with just different terminology. Taylor is among a handful of running backs vying for touches, with Rashard Mendenhall believed to be the clear-cut No. 1 right now. However, Taylor will have all of training camp and the preseason to make his bid for more playing time. Right now, he has minimal fantasy appeal, but that all could change quickly.

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said on NFL AM that "there's no doubt" RB Rashard Mendenhall would be the featured back if the season started Wednesday, June 19. Arians is shying away from the notion that this is a time share. Mendenhall is also ready to go after fighting Achilles' tendonitis last year following early-2012 knee surgery.
Fantasy Tip: Hard to believe Mendy turns 26 today. Arians' history with Mendenhall will help with the transition, and as long as he's healthy, he'll take the lion's share of carries away from Ryan Williams, Andre Ellington and Stepfan Taylor. Mendenhall is a second fantasy back that might be the victim of overvaluation.
