Texas Rangers P Nick Tepesch is expected to make his next turn in the rotation Tuesday, Sept. 17, against the Tampa Bay Rays, rather than P Alexi Ogando. "(Tepesch) is going to prepare to start," manager Ron Washington said Tuesday, Sept. 10. "We have enough arms in the bullpen."

Texas Rangers SP Alexi Ogando could return to the rotation and start next week. Ogando worked 1 1/3 scoreless innings and got the win over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Sunday, Sept. 8. Ogando is 5-4 with a 3.47 ERA this season and has been on the disabled list three times. SPs Nick Tepesch and Travis Blackley are also candidates to start next week.
Fantasy Tip: Ogando's possible start next week is likely to be just a spot start, though, so his value won't increase much for the rest of the season.

Texas Rangers SP Nick Tepesch (elbow) has not progressed from playing catch, but he said Wednesday, July 31, that he is feeling better. He threw from 90 feet, and said he has been throwing "on and off" since July 7 when he landed on the 15-day disabled list.
Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain when he'll throw from a mound, and then return from the DL. When he does make it back, he'll find a significantly different rotation since the team added Matt Garza via trade, and Matt Harrison and Colby Lewis are closing in on a return. Tepesch might have a different role, or could end in the minors.

The Texas Rangers have placed SP Nick Tepesch (elbow) on the 15-day disabled list because of right elbow inflammation. The move is retroactive to Saturday, July 6.
Fantasy Tip: No immediate replacement was named for Tepesch in the Rangers' starting rotation, although Josh Lindblom appears to be the leading candidate for the job.

Texas Rangers SP Nick Tepesch worked on the command of his fastball, slider and curveball during his bullpen session Wednesday, June 19. He has allowed 17 runs and 19 hits in his last 15 2/3 innings pitched. His turn in the rotation will come up Saturday, June 22, but it is not known if he will make the start. The team could push him back a day to give him an extra day of rest.

Texas Rangers SP Colby Lewis (triceps, elbow) has been pulled off his rehab assignment with muscular elbow soreness. Lewis will receive a platelet-rich plasma injection to speed his recovery.
Fantasy Tip: Lewis has been very close to returning several times, but setbacks have ruined his plans. If you've been stashing him in a deep mixed league, continue to do so. The Rangers will give him a rotation spot when he's ready, likely at the expense of either Justin Grimm or Nick Tepesch.
