Texas Rangers SP Nick Tepesch was praised by manager Ron Washington for his start Friday, July 11. Tepesch gave up six hits and three earned runs over six innings without issuing a walk. "Tepesch pitched extremely well and did what we need him to do," Washington said. "It was a good thing to see. He threw one pitch he'd like to get back."

The Texas Rangers designated SP Joe Saunders for assignment Tuesday, July 1, and recalled P Miles Mikolas from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move. Mikolas will start Wednesday, July 2, and SP Nick Tepesch has been pushed back for Friday, July 4.
Fantasy Tip: Mikolas will slide into Saunders' rotation spot. Only consider Mikolas in AL-only leagues if you're hurting for starting pitching.

Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish will start Friday, June 6, on regular rest, with SP Nick Tepesch starting Saturday, June 7.
Fantasy Tip: Darvish's neck seemed fine in his 12-strikeout masterpiece Sunday, so you should expect his normal output moving forward barring any other injuries.

Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said Wednesday, May 14, that despite long-term injuries to SPs Matt Harrison (back) and Martin Perez (elbow), the team is not looking to trade to fortify the rotation. For now, SPs Nick Martinez and Nick Tepesch will be added to the rotation.

The Texas Rangers placed SP Martin Perez (elbow) on the 15-day disabled list with left elbow inflammation Wednesday, May 14, and recalled SPs Scott Baker and Nick Tepesch from the minors in corresponding moves. Also, P Justin Germano was designated for assignment.
Fantasy Tip: Tepesch is taking the rotation spot left by Perez. Add him in AL-only leagues if you're in need of a warm body for innings. With Perez out for at least 15 days, Tanner Scheppers (elbow) is another candidate to take his rotation spot when he's healthy.

Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington said the plan for now is to keep SP Tanner Scheppers in the starting rotation, despite another rough outing against the Seattle Mariners Thursday, April 17. One inning has cost him in three of his four starts this season, and 17 of the 20 runs he's allowed have come in three innings. SP Nick Martinez is a candidate to enter the rotation if the team makes a change. SPs Nick Tepesch and Scott Baker are other options in the minors.
Fantasy Tip: The experiment with Scheppers as a starter could soon be coming to an end. His outing next week will likely determine his fate. There are better options out there on the waiver wire in mixed leagues right now.

The Texas Rangers sent Ps Nick Tepesch, Cory Burns, Miles Mikolas and Daniel Bard, Cs Patrick Cantwell and Brett Nicholas, INFs Kensuke Tanaka and Andy Parrino and OFs Brad Snyder and Bryan Petersen to minor league camp Monday, March 17. Tepesch will continue to be stretched out as a starter at Triple-A Round Rock. RP Jose Contreras has been told he won't make the team, and he may consider retiring.

Texas Rangers SP Nick Tepesch (back) allowed two hits over three innings in his Cactus League appearance Monday, March 3, against the Cleveland Indians. "Overall, I was pretty happy with my command. It's not where it needs to be completely, but I was down in the zone and commanded four pitches for strikes," Tepesch said.
Fantasy Tip: Tepesch was scratched from his last outing due to a back issue. He is in the mix for a rotation spot, and would be a solid AL-only and deeper mixed fantasy option if he can work his way back into the starting five.
