Jets | NY's running back depth is solid

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 16:54:03 -0700

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory is the team's starting running back, but the Jets' running back depth behind him with RBs Stevan Ridley, Zac Stacy and Bilal Powell is impressive and will give QB Geno Smith a lot of help out of the backfield.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory should see most of the touches in this crowded backfield, and you should consider him an ideal RB3 in fantasy leagues. The Jets are unlikely to keep four running backs on roster, so Stacy and Powell might be fighting to stay on the final roster.

Jets | Zac Stacy at practice

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 11:32:35 -0700

New York Jets RB Zac Stacy (undisclosed) participated in positional drills during practice Monday, Aug. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Stacy has enough work cut out for him besides having to deal with an injury. Chris Ivory and Stevan Ridley, when he's healthy, will at least be ahead of him for playing time this year. Stacy doesn't have a lot of value in a crowded backfield.

Jets | Zac Stacy on outside looking in?

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 19:31:43 -0700

New York Jets RB Zac Stacy is competing with RBs Chris Ivory, Stevan Ridley (knee) and Bilal Powell for one of the running back spots on the 53-man roster in training camp and the preseason. According to beat writer Darryl Slater, Stacy is not projected to make the cut, although it could depend on the health of Ridley.

Fantasy Tip: Stacy went from fantasy starter to an afterthought in an awful hurry. If he can't crack the Jets, he could find work elsewhere. However, it appears his days as a serious fantasy option are already behind him.

Jets | Chris Ivory leads backfield

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 07:35:43 -0700

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory is listed as the starting running back entering training camp, according to beat writer Rich Cimini's unofficial depth chart. RB Bilal Powell is the primary backup, and RB Zac Stacy is listed as the third running back. RB Stevan Ridley (knee) could figure in eventually, but he's expected to be limited at the start of camp.

Fantasy Tip: Ivory established himself in a muddy backfield that was expected to be led by Chris Johnson last year. Ivory has competition again this year, but he's a solid RB2 and takes a hit in PPR formats. Powell is a decent RB4 in PPR formats. It's hard to draft Stacy right now unless Powell and Ridley slip up.

Jets | Running back situation up in the air

Thu, 21 May 2015 11:51:04 -0700

New York Jets coach Todd Bowles said his team's running back situation may take until the preseason to sort out. RBs Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell, Zac Stacy, Stevan Ridley and Daryl Richardson all have experience at the position, but no one has broken out yet.

Fantasy Tip: Bowles said the team could keep as many as four backs, but it begs the question of which one to start. For now, this situation is too volatile, but be prepared to move one up your draft board if someone looks explosive in preseason games.

Jets | NYJ to run more in 2015?

Tue, 19 May 2015 11:14:45 -0700

New York Jets RBs Chris Ivory, Stevan Ridley, Zac Stacy and others could be busy this season, according to head coach Todd Bowles. Bowles said the reason he hired offensive coordinator Chan Gailey is because he has a track record of being able to run the ball, at least in his college coaching days. Bowles supposedly prefers a balanced, ball-control offense, which puts more of the onus on the running backs.

Fantasy Tip: Again, Ivory should see the majority of work out the backfield, but this figures to be more of a committee approach with how deep the Jets are in the backfield. Ivory could end up in RB3 territory while the rest of the running backs currently shouldn't be seen as more than flex options.

Rams | Zac Stacy traded to Jets

Sat, 02 May 2015 14:27:05 -0700

Former St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy has been traded to the New York Jets in exchange for the Jets' 224 overall selection in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Fantasy Tip: Todd Gurley gains value with Tre Mason, Benny Cunningham and Isaiah Pead also in the mix. Gurley should receive plenty of opportunities to run away with the starting role, although Mason is coming off a respectable rookie campaign and should still be involved in the offense. If he can maintain good health, Gurley has RB2 potential.

Jets | Zac Stacy acquired by Jets

Sat, 02 May 2015 14:23:49 -0700

Former St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy has been acquired by the New York Jets in exchange for the Rams' 224th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Fantasy Tip: The Jets' backfield is officially crowded with Stacy, Chris Ivory, Stevan Ridley and Bilal Powell. New York seems to be content with the ultimate committee approach. It's unclear at this point who will be the official starter, but no one in this backfield should be considered more than a RB3 unless something changes.

Jets | New York interested in Zac Stacy?

Sat, 02 May 2015 11:34:02 -0700

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy may be drawing interest from the New York Jets. The Jets have reportedly asked the Rams about Stacy, who now seems to be on bad terms with St. Louis after RB Todd Gurley was selected in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Fantasy Tip: It would be a pretty crowded backfield if Stacy landed with the Jets, who acquired Stevan Ridley this offseason in addition to already having Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell on the roster. A Stacy traded would seemingly water down the fantasy value of all running backs involved.

Rams | STL talks with Zac Stacy's reps

Fri, 01 May 2015 11:08:40 -0700

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy's representatives had a productive discussion with the team, but there is no decision on Stacy's future with the team.

Fantasy Tip: The Rams selected Todd Gurley in the first round, which makes Stacy's role with the team uncertain. Stacy would have more fantasy value if he is released or traded since he likely would have a bigger role with his new team. He probably would be a handcuff to Gurley in drafts if he remains with the Rams.
