Broncos | C.J. Anderson had hip looked at

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 15:09:02 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (hip) had his hip evaluated Wednesday, Aug. 19, after a hit from LB Danny Trevathan. There was, however, no concussion.

Fantasy Tip: We'll have to see how much Anderson plays, if any, in the Broncos' second preseason game this weekend. He should still be viewed as a low-end RB1 to high-end RB2 in all scoring formats.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson is fine

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 16:40:52 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (undisclosed) was running and cutting at full speed in practice Monday, Aug. 17, after leaving the team's preseason game over the weekend.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson had an amazing and unpredicted season in 2014 for the Denver Broncos, and he'll head into Week 1 as the favorite to see most of the touches in this backfield and in a new zone-blocking system that should benefit him. Target him in the mid to late first round of fantasy football drafts.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson could be bell cow

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 20:14:10 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson leads the stable of talented, young backs for the team. Head coach Gary Kubiak said he is open to using a bell cow running back. "I can tell you this, I believe in the (bell cow). And I believe it's up to the player to prove he can do that. Do you need two guys in a season? You are darn right, in this league," Kubiak said. "But I think if a guy goes out there and he show he can play three downs, can protect the quarterback, and can handle it, then he should stay out there."

Fantasy Tip: Anderson is the odds-on favorite to serve as the starting tailback, and he is a solid RB1 to target in the area of Rounds 2-3 in standard fantasy formats.

Broncos | Denver to run more in red zone?

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 16:51:07 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson could see more opportunities in the red zone this season, according to Mike Klis of 9news.com. Klis said the Broncos figure to run the ball more in that area in order to help out an uncertain offensive line.

Fantasy Tip: If Anderson can keep the same pace he had last season -- eight touchdowns in seven starts -- he'll have to be given his fair share of red zone touches. Denver is expected to run the ball more overall under new head coach Gary Kubiak, making Anderson a worthwhile RB1 option.

Broncos | Lofty expectations for C.J. Anderson

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 13:59:07 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson is capable of 1,400 rushing yards, in the opinion of The Denver Post's Troy E. Renck. Renck said Anderson will be physically ready for the grind of being the lead running back in new head coach Gary Kubiak's zone-blocking scheme.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson certainly succeeded and impressed after taking over Denver's starting running back position halfway through the season. A lot is expected of Anderson this season, especially following the success he had last year. He's a solid RB1 candidate and should be taken in the first or second round of fantasy drafts.

Broncos | Montee Ball likely in backup role

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 05:20:30 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball is expected to receive seven or eight carries a game, while RB C.J. Anderson serves as the bellcow with 18 per game, in the opinion of beat writer Troy E. Renck.

Fantasy Tip: This disputes the idea that Anderson and Ball were "1-A and 1-B" in the team's thinking. Anderson is a low-end RB1 in this format, while Ball is an RB4.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson starts as top RB

Tue, 16 Jun 2015 11:27:51 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson will begin training camp as the starting running back. Head coach Gary Kubiak said it's his job to hang on to. Kubiak also added that RBs Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman have had solid offseasons and will make the running back battle competitive.

Fantasy Tip: It's no surprise that Anderson is the lead running back right now as he ran for 849 yards and eight touchdowns while starting just eight games last year. If Anderson can hold on to his starting position, he has low-end RB1 upside.

Broncos | Montee Ball expecting big role

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 19:30:37 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball has performed well during offseason activities, and he described the situation at running back as a "1-A and 1-B" rotation between he and RB C.J. Anderson.

Fantasy Tip: While an even split between Ball and Anderson is probably wishful thinking on the part of Ball, he should at least be the main backup to open the year. Consider him a RB4 for fantasy purposes, and he isnít a bad insurance policy if you select Anderson.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson even better?

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 16:44:27 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson showed better conditioning and performed better in offseason programs this year than he did last season.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson finished last season on a high note, and he seems determined to remain the lead back in Denver. He has RB1 potential if he receives the bulk of the carries, but with Montee Ball and others making up a crowded backfield, it is safer to draft Anderson as a low-end RB2.

Broncos | Montee Ball determined this offseason

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 15:25:57 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball seems more motivated this offseason after suffering a late-season groin injury and losing his starting job to RB C.J. Anderson. Coaches have noticed that Ball is more focused following a tumultuous 2014 campaign. Ball said he's ready to be the next man up and is determined to win his starting spot back.

Fantasy Tip: As long as C.J. Anderson is healthy, he'll probably be the starting running back for the Broncos. After all, Anderson made the Pro Bowl after starting in just seven games in 2014. Anderson is a RB1 if he can maintain his starter status for a full season, while Ball shouldn't be considered more than a low-end RB4.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson svelte at OTAs

Mon, 01 Jun 2015 22:33:20 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson modified his diet, ran hills and tracks in Colorado and California to check in at 221 pounds for the start of organized team activities (OTAs), down 22 pounds from this point last season.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson wants to keep a large role in the offense so he has been working on his shape and stamina. With Montee Ball and the rest of the crowded backfield Anderson should be used more as an RB3 or flex option in most fantasy leagues.

Broncos | Duo splits first-team carries

Fri, 29 May 2015 06:07:38 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball and C.J. Anderson are splitting first-team repetitions during organized team activities.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson is expected to be ahead of Ball on the depth chart, but the two will both see a lot of action in Gary Kubiak's RB-friendly offense. Anderson is an elite RB2 while Ball projects as a low-end RB3.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson overweight last year?

Fri, 08 May 2015 19:42:56 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson was a "little chubby" and wore down quick at times last year, according to former offensive coordinator Adam Gase, who now works for the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the comments, Anderson is expected to open next season as the starting back. After closing last season with nine scores in the final six weeks, he should be a high-end RB2 as one of the main weapons in Denver's high-powered offense.

Broncos | Montee Ball eyes starting role

Thu, 30 Apr 2015 12:22:23 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball is confident that he will regain the lead-back role with the team, but admitted that RB C.J. Anderson deserves the job right now. Ball is currently behind Anderson and RB Ronnie Hillman on the depth chart. Ball blames an appendectomy in August of last year for weakening his core, which then led to a torn right groin that put him on Injured Reserve. He had just 172 yards on 55 carries and a touchdown in 2014. Ball started feeling better in February and has spent the last three months working on his flexibility with a personal trainer.

Fantasy Tip: Ball has plenty of work to do, but at least he's in a system that could really benefit him if he finds himself on the field often. Unfortunately, that'll probably have to come at the expense of an injury or poor play for Anderson or Hillman. Ball won't be a draft consideration in standard fantasy leagues this fall unless something drastic happens over the summer.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson enters OTAs as starter

Sun, 29 Mar 2015 04:16:09 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson will open OTAs in April as the starter, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson totaled 1,173 yards from scrimmage and put an end to the Broncos' endless woes at running back, at least for the second half of the season. A lot could change between OTAs and camp, but for now keep an eye on Anderson as he could go in higher rounds as a legitimate RB1 or RB2.

Broncos | Denver RB competition fierce

Fri, 27 Mar 2015 16:25:20 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson, who finished 2014 with 648 rushing yards in the last six games, will enter the 2015 season at the top of the running back depth chart, according to new head coach Gary Kubiak. However, competition will be fierce for touches in training camp, with RBs Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman still around. Ball vowed "to get back my job" at the end of last season after landing on the Injured Reserve. Hillman is a wild card, and he has yet to top 106 carries in any one season. RB Juwan Thompson is a possibility as a fullback/running back hybrid.

Fantasy Tip: Because of what he did last year, Anderson is the favorite to be the bell-cow back in Kubiak's system, which has produced plenty of successful runners. Anderson will likely be overvalued in 2015 fantasy football drafts, but he could be the X-factor on your roster, depending on whether he can hold off the other runners in Denver.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson must earn starting role

Thu, 19 Feb 2015 11:12:34 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson finished the year as the team's No. 1 running back and made the Pro Bowl, but new head coach Gary Kubiak said Anderson must still earn the starting role for the 2015 season. "He's got to go earn that," Kubiak said. "When he walked off the field last year he was playing that way. He's a young player. I told him that when I talked to him. I said, 'C.J. when you come back for the offseason you need to handle yourself like you're the starter.' I think he's ready to do that."

Fantasy Tip: Anderson should enter the offseason and summer workouts as the favorite to remain the team's top back, barring an injury. With a new zone-blocking scheme in place in Denver, it should only make Anderson more intriguing to fantasy owners. There's a possibility that he could be worth as high as a second-round pick this year as an RB1.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson not guaranteed to start

Wed, 18 Feb 2015 19:04:36 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson is not guaranteed to be the team's starting tailback in 2015. "He's got to go earn that," Kubiak said Wednesday, Feb. 18. "When he walked off the field last year he was playing that way. He's a young player. I told him that when I talked to him. I said, 'C.J. when you come back for the offseason you need to handle yourself like you're the starter. I think he's ready to do that."

Fantasy Tip: Anderson has the potential to be a bona fide No. 1 fantasy running back, as he showed in the second half of the 2014 season. But a healthy Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman will obviously have something to say about that, too.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson happy about new offense

Tue, 20 Jan 2015 10:21:17 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson, who finished the year with 849 rushing yards, 324 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, is looking forward to his role in new head coach Gary Kubiak's offense in 2015. Kubiak typically runs a zone-blocking offense that is friendly to running backs. "I have known about his system for a while, and what he accomplished," Anderson said of Kubiak. "One cut downhill and go get it. It fits me and the offense well. It's always been successful. He knows the team we have and what we can do. I can't wait to get started working with him."

Fantasy Tip: Despite being buried on the depth chart to start the 2014 season, Anderson wound up as the team's most productive runner thanks to injuries to Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman. Because of the year he had, Anderson figures to be the team's main back (if healthy) heading into the season. Depending on what happens at QB in Denver, that should make Anderson pretty attractive as an RB2 in Kubiak's offense.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson added to Pro Bowl

Mon, 19 Jan 2015 15:15:01 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson has been named to the 2015 Pro Bowl as a replacement for Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee).

Fantasy Tip: Anderson took over the starting running back job in the middle of the season and should enter training camp next season as the starting running back. Anderson likely will be taken in one of the first few rounds of fantasy drafts next season and could be a low-end No. 1 or No. 2 running back.

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (undisclosed) limped off the field with trainers in the team's divisional-round playoff game Sunday, Jan. 11, but is expected to return.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Anderson was just shaken up and should be back in the game shortly.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson nets a hat trick

Sun, 28 Dec 2014 15:34:12 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson has rushed for three touchdowns on just 10 carries in three quarters of play versus the Oakland Raiders in Week 17. He has 57 yards on the ground.

Fantasy Tip: While Ronnie Hillman has more carries at this point, Anderson has been a touchdown machine for owners in league championships and DFS games.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson probable for Week 17

Fri, 26 Dec 2014 15:51:52 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (ankle) practiced in full Friday, Dec. 26, and is probable for Week 17 against the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson will play against the Raiders, although he could see fewer touches if Ronnie Hillman (foot) plays and is eased back in. However, with a great matchup against the Raiders, that shouldn't keep you from rolling with Anderson at FantasyScore at least as an RB2.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson fully practices

Thu, 25 Dec 2014 15:18:01 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson should continue to see a majority of the carries and will be facing an Oakland Raiders run defense that has allowed the third most fantasy points to running backs this season. Owners can consider Anderson as a low-end No. 1 running back or a No. 2 back.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson a full go

Wed, 24 Dec 2014 15:31:17 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (ankle) practiced in full Wednesday, Dec. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($5,555) has come down to earth a bit in recent weeks, but he remains the team's top back, which counts for a lot in fantasy football. Against the Oakland Raiders in Week 17, he should be a fine play in daily games. Anderson had his coming-out party the first time Denver faced Oakland earlier this year.

Broncos | No company for C.J. Anderson

Mon, 22 Dec 2014 16:11:57 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson is expected to start in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals Monday, Dec. 22, and he does not have to worry about RB Ronnie Hillman (foot), who is inactive.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson will likely get a lion's share of the carries with Hillman sidelined yet again, with Juwan Thompson also factoring in for a handful of touches. But the top fantasy option in the backfield will be Anderson.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson listed as probable

Sat, 20 Dec 2014 12:09:38 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (ankle) was a full participant in practice Saturday, Dec. 20, and is probable for Monday night's game versus the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($7,600) may be pricy on FantasyScore this week but he could very well be worth the investment as the Bengals give up over 100 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown per game to running backs.

Fri, 19 Dec 2014 13:16:54 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (ankle) practiced in full for the second straight day Friday, Dec. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($7,600) will start against the Cincinnati Bengals Monday night, and he remains a nice play at FantasyScore despite having down outings the last two weeks. The Bengals have been very generous to opposing runners all season long.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson practices in full

Thu, 18 Dec 2014 15:30:02 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (ankle) practiced in full Thursday, Dec. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($7,600) has faded a tad over the last two games against capable teams against the rush. Monday night in Cincinnati should present a good chance to use him again at FantasyScore, though. The Bengals allow the fifth most fantasy points to running backs (22.09) per game this season.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson's workload to be monitored?

Wed, 17 Dec 2014 11:50:04 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson has averaged 27.25 carries in the last four games, and his workload may need to be monitored by the team as the playoffs approach. However, it helps that Anderson started his midseason run with a completely fresh body since not being a featured back since his sophomore year in college. Denver had planned to cut Anderson's carries in Week 15 against the San Diego Chargers, but QB Peyton Manning falling ill changed the game plan. In the last two weeks, Anderson has 50 carries for 143 yards for a 2.9 yards-per-carry average. Before that, he was averaging 5.4 yards per carry. RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) is hoping to return in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals, which could take some pressure off Anderson.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($7,600) still remains a very safe option at FantasyScore right now with the Broncos' move to a heavy ground attack. As mentioned by Klis, the Bengals are one of the worst run defenses in the league, so the Broncos figure to attack them heavily on the ground, making Anderson a good daily option. Hillman's status for this week is unknown, making him too risky, even for $3,500.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson will play against Bolts

Fri, 12 Dec 2014 13:11:26 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (ankle) practiced in full Friday, Dec. 12, and is probable for Week 15 against the San Diego Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: As Denver continues their ground-and-pound ways recently, Anderson ($7,000) has gained significant fantasy football value. As long as Ronnie Hillman (foot) and Montee Ball (groin) remain out, Anderson is an acceptable FantasyScore option as the lead back that can also catch passes out of the backfield.

Broncos | Three Denver backs limited

Thu, 11 Dec 2014 14:21:39 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs C.J. Anderson (ankle), Ronnie Hillman (foot) and Juwan Thompson (ankle) were all limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 11. Anderson returned to the field after sitting out Wednesday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: It'll probably be at least another week before Hillman is back in the picture in this backfield, and the Broncos have no reason to rush him back. Anderson ($7,000) should be fine for the matchup against the San Diego Chargers, and he remains a good option for FantasyScore lineups. Thompson ($3,000) is a desperation flex play.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson has no worries

Wed, 10 Dec 2014 13:12:20 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (ankle) said his ankle "feels really good to be honest with you," and he's not worried about it moving forward.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($7,000) is expensive now at FantasyScore after a three-touchdown performance last week and the fact that the Broncos have become much more reliant on the ground game. Facing the San Diego Chargers this week will be a good test for him, though, as they've only allowed an average of 11.40 fantasy points to backs in the last four weeks. Anderson's ability to catch the ball out of the backfield makes him more of an acceptable play at FantasyScore, though.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson misses practice

Wed, 10 Dec 2014 11:45:23 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson is believed to be dealing with a minor injury, but owners should watch his practice participation during the week. Anderson would be facing a good San Diego Chargers run defense if he is able to play. He has a price tag of $7,000 on FantasyScore and could be an attractive option because of his ability to be a runner and receiver in the offense.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson checks back in

Sun, 07 Dec 2014 14:39:52 -0800

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (undisclosed) was able to check back into the Week 14 game against the Buffalo Bills after limping off earlier.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson punched in his third rushing touchdown of the game in the third quarter, so he looks to be fine. He is giving fantasy owners a very nice afternoon of production before being in and out of the lineup.

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (undisclosed) limped off the field late in the second quarter of the Week 14 game against the Buffalo Bills with an undisclosed injury.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson, Juwan Thompson probable

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 14:00:49 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs C.J. Anderson (ankle) and Juwan Thompson (knee) both practiced in full for the third straight day Friday, Dec. 5, and are probable for Week 14 against the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($6,600) is clearly the lead back and the one you should spend money on at FantasyScore. However, the Bills pose a stiff threat on the ground, and this could be a game where Anderson struggles to find running room.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson, Juwan Thompson on field

Thu, 04 Dec 2014 14:54:28 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs C.J. Anderson (ankle) and Juwan Thompson (knee) both practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($6,600) remains the team's bell-cow back for now, with Thompson ($3,000) occasionally spelling him. Anderson's value increases in PPR leagues like FantasyScore, but be careful using him this weekend against a very good run-stopping unit in the Buffalo Bills.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson, Juwan Thompson on field

Wed, 03 Dec 2014 15:17:07 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs C.J. Anderson (ankle) and Juwan Thompson (knee) both practiced in full Wednesday, Dec. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Both Anderson ($6,600) and Thompson ($3,000) should be fine against the Buffalo Bills. However, the Bills hold running backs to the third fewest fantasy points, on average, this year. It's tough to avoid Anderson the way he's been playing, but the matchup says to tread carefully.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson tops 100 yards again

Mon, 01 Dec 2014 09:45:53 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson finished with 168 yards and 32 carries in the team's Week 13 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. That's after he racked up 167 rushing yards in Week 12 over the Miami Dolphins, and he's the first runner in league history since Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson in 2012 to have back-to-back games of at least 150 yards rushing. Denver now has back-to-back games of 200 yards rushing.

Fantasy Tip: As Legwold notes, the Broncos have been heavily committed to a power-rushing attack since their Week 11 loss to the St. Louis Rams. As a result, Anderson has become an RB1 in the absence of Montee Ball (groin) and Ronnie Hillman (foot). Anderson should be the main back for at least another week or two. The Buffalo Bills will give him a good test this weekend, but it's hard not to like Anderson's FantasyScore value if he's touching the ball 30 times.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson carries the load again

Mon, 24 Nov 2014 09:12:36 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson rushed 27 times for 167 yards and a touchdown in the team's Week 12 win over the Miami Dolphins, and it was the most carries and rushing yards for a running back on the team since RB Knowshon Moreno had 37 carries for 224 yards in a loss Nov. 24 last year.

Fantasy Tip: The Broncos came into the game dedicated to running the football, and Anderson help up his end of the bargain. Until Montee Ball (groin) or Ronnie Hillman (foot) return, Anderson is the unquestioned starting running back, and he gains added value in PPR leagues such as FantasyScore. Continue relying on him as a low-end RB1.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson top RB into Week 12

Tue, 18 Nov 2014 19:56:10 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs C.J. Anderson and Juwan Thompson will serve as the top two running backs heading into Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins with RBs Ronnie Hillman (foot) and Montee Ball (groin) sidelined at least two or three weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson is a FantasyScore bargain at $5,800 (or 11.6 percent of the cap). Thompson will see less carries, but will only cost $3,000 (or 6.0 percent of the cap).

Broncos | C.J. Anderson will start

Sun, 16 Nov 2014 07:37:47 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson will be the starting running back in the team's Week 11 game. RB Montee Ball will be the No. 2 running back.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson played well in Week 10, rushing for 90 yards, and probably will receive a majority of the carries in Week 11. Anderson costs $5,300 on FantasyScore and could be a good No. 2 running back or flex option. Ball costs $4,600 but may not be a great option to use, because he may see limited work during the game.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson has big day

Mon, 10 Nov 2014 09:23:15 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson finished the Week 10 win over the Oakland Raiders with 90 rushing yards and 73 receiving yards.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson was running hard and saw the bulk of the workload with Ronnie Hillman (foot) hobbled for much of the game. This could make the running back situation even more interesting and frustrating for fantasy owners when Montee Ball (groin) returns to action.

Broncos | Committee to replace Montee Ball?

Sat, 11 Oct 2014 17:43:24 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman, RB C.J. Anderson and RB Juwan Thompson (knee) will all be leaned on while RB Montee Ball (groin) is out with a groin injury, according to head coach John Fox. Anderson said he feels that the back that has the hot hand will receive a majority of the carries.

Fantasy Tip: All three backs have a tough matchup in Week 6 with the Broncos facing the sixth-ranked rush defense of the New York Jets. Fantasy owners may be better served waiting to see how the carries are divided Sunday and then trying to find value in the Denver backfield in the coming weeks.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman the guy

Thu, 09 Oct 2014 07:40:17 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman will serve as the lead running back in RB Montee Ball's (groin) absence. "Ronnie has played at different times, in different amounts, but when you're the starting back and running out there in pregame warm-ups as a starting back, it's a different hat that you wear," said QB Peyton Manning. "There's no question he has a burst that is pretty unique when he gets the ball in his hands. It's our job to give him space."

Fantasy Tip: This was all but confirmed, but there was also word that he would be in a timeshare. Hillman ($4,000; 8% of your cap) has a tough matchup against the New York Jets this week, and C.J. Anderson and Juwan Thompson should see time. However, Hillman is a great flex option on FantasyScore.

Broncos | Montee Ball has major injury?

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 13:04:30 -0700

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball (groin) is expected to be out for a significant amount of time after suffering a groin injury in the team's Week 5 game, according to a team source. In his absence, RB Ronnie Hillman will step into the lead running back role, with RBs Juwan Thompson and C.J. Anderson also seeing action.

Fantasy Tip: For those that own Ball, be prepared to go without him for a while. In the meantime, run to the waiver wire and immediately add Hillman, who looked much better than Ball has all year in Sunday's win. Thompson is worth a look, too, if the team continues to use him in goal-line situations.
