Redskins | Chris Thompson thinks he'll return to form

Thu, 08 Feb 2018 22:43:16 -0800

Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson (leg) is confident he'll be able to return to his former self once he's fully healed from his broken leg. "So it's just more of me being patient with it, with the rehab, and just kind of being smart," he said in a radio interview. "I'm known to want to progress as fast as I can, so I think if I just stay patient with the process and everything I should be back to what I was before."

Fantasy Tip: Thompson's owners would love to see him build on what was shaping up to be a real solid 2017 campaign for the fourth-year running back. He was well on pace towards shattering career highs in all major categories before going down for the year with his injury, but his future looks bright nonetheless. Even with Rob Kelley and Samaje Perine still under contract, Thompson could end up ascending to lead Washington's backfield.

Redskins | Chris Thompson feeling good

Mon, 15 Jan 2018 22:32:15 -0800

Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson (leg) said he's "feeling good" while rehabbing from a fractured fibula that he sustained back in November in a game against the New Orleans Saints. He remains on pace to return by training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Thompson was arguably the Redskins' best offensive player this year before going down due to injury, logging career bests in touchdowns (six) and total yards from scrimmage (804). Even if he has to share the workload again in Washington's backfield next season, he's still going to make for a solid sleeper pick in drafts leading up to the 2018 campaign.

Redskins | Chris Thompson hopeful for training camp

Tue, 02 Jan 2018 09:41:31 -0800

Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson (leg) expects it will take him four to six months to fully recover from the early December surgery he had on his broken leg. He anticipates being ready for training camp at the very least, according to ESPN's John Keim.

Fantasy Tip: Thompson was something of a revelation for a Washington offense that struggled to get any kind of consistency from its wide receivers, leading the team in receiving as well as rushing at the time of his injury. His fantasy stock could take a big hit if Kirk Cousins leaves the Redskins as expected, but Thompson should be expected to fill the same big-play/passing-down role he thrived in this season regardless of whom Washington has playing quarterback in 2018.

Redskins | Chris Thompson lands on IR

Tue, 21 Nov 2017 09:48:18 -0800

Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson (leg) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Nov. 21.

Fantasy Tip: The Redskins have no obvious replacement for Thompson, which likely means they will be forced to rely more heavily on Samaje Perine in the running game. Jamison Crowder has emerged as Kirk Cousins' favorite target in recent weeks and could see even more looks as a result of Thompson's absence.

Redskins | Chris Thompson has fractured leg

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 14:00:05 -0800

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson (leg) suffered a fractured fibula in Week 11 against the New Orleans Saints and he will require surgery.

Fantasy Tip: Thompson's excellent season is over, so a majority of the backfield touches will belong to Samaje Perine down the stretch since Rob Kelley (ankle, knee) is also on the Reserve/Injured list.
