Sun, 29 Nov 2015 11:18:42 -0800
Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury during the team's Week 12 game and is considered questionable to return.
Fantasy Tip: Matt Jones probably would receive a bigger role if Thompson misses time because of the injury. Jones has played well at times this season and could be a solid option if he receives more touches.
Sun, 22 Nov 2015 15:50:48 -0800
Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson had four carries for 10 yards in his team's 44-16 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, Nov. 22.
Fantasy Tip: If Thompson ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) wasn't stuck in neutral, Matt Jones ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) was coughing up the football. The Redskins are going to be in big trouble if they can't run the ball with Alfred Morris sidelined due to rib issues, and neither of these backups carry much FantasyScore value.
Sat, 21 Nov 2015 10:53:18 -0800
Washington Redskins RBs Matt Jones and Chris Thompson, in particular, may be in line for more work in the screen game moving forward. Head coach Jay Gruden said he expects Washington to have more success with screens as the season goes on after finding success in that area last week. Gruden added that having a successful screen game is important, especially versus teams with a good pass rush.
Fantasy Tip: Matt Jones ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) certainly benefitted from screens last week, and Chris Thompson's main role is in the passing game. Jones probably has the most PPR value right now among Washington running backs. He's worth a look on FantasyScore this week as the Carolina Panthers have allowed the second-most receptions to running backs this year (61).
Fri, 13 Nov 2015 16:03:02 -0800
Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson (back) practiced in full the entire week and is probable for Week 10 against the New Orleans Saints.
Fantasy Tip: Thompson ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) didn't receive a single carry last week and had just two catches. It's hard to imagine he'll carve out a big role moving forward as anything more than a third-down option out of the backfield. However, he has more appeal in PPR leagues like FantasyScore, and the Saints are a top 10 matchup for runners in this format. Thompson is a deep sleeper if you're looking to save money somewhere.
Thu, 12 Nov 2015 16:52:01 -0800
Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson (back) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 12.
Fantasy Tip: It looks like Thompson ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) will be playing this weekend; he's got a tasty matchup against a New Orleans Saints defense that struggles against running backs. The Redskins may be forced to pass a lot in order to keep up with New Orleans, too, and pass-catching has proven to be Thompson's Forte, so don't overlook him on FantasyScore.
Wed, 11 Nov 2015 16:52:21 -0800
Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson (back) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Nov. 11.
Fantasy Tip: Thompson ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) has been the Redskins' main pass-catching running back this year, and the New Orleans Saints have struggled against such running backs, allowing 54 catches, 483 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns to running backs through nine games. Thompson may be worth a flyer on FantasyScore this week.
Fri, 06 Nov 2015 14:35:29 -0800
Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson (back) practiced in full for the third straight day Friday, Nov. 6, and is probable for Week 9 against the New England Patriots.
Fantasy Tip: Thompson ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) does have six catches in each of his last two games, but he hasn't played since Oct. 18. It's a long shot, but he could be involved heavily in the short passing game if the Redskins are playing catchup, although New England has only allowed one receiving score to a runner this year. Thompson is a deep sleeper, at best, on FantasyScore.
Thu, 05 Nov 2015 13:32:15 -0800
Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson (back) participated fully in practice Thursday, Nov. 5.
Fantasy Tip: Thompson ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) has Alfred Morris and Matt Jones to compete with, but he has been successful in the passing game this year. If the Redskins fall behind versus the New England Patriots, Thompson should outperform his FantasyScore asking price.
Wed, 04 Nov 2015 16:19:41 -0800
Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson (back) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Nov. 4.
Fantasy Tip: It looks like Thompson ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is in line to return to action this week against the New England Patriots. The Patriots have been unkind to running backs this year, though, so don't put Thompson on the top of your FantasyScore priority list.
Sun, 25 Oct 2015 08:41:51 -0700
Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson (back) has been declared inactive for the Week 7 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Fantasy Tip: Matt Jones ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) should handle Thompson's role as a third-down running back during the game and likely will be more involved in the passing game. Jones will be facing a decent Buccaneers defense but could be a flex option for owners.
Sun, 25 Oct 2015 08:40:20 -0700
The Washington Redskins have declared RB Chris Thompson, CB Chris Culliver, CB DeAngelo Hall, WR DeSean Jackson, DL Frank Kearse, OG Kory Lichtensteiger, QB Robert Griffin III inactive for Week 7.
Fri, 23 Oct 2015 15:39:26 -0700
Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson (back) did not practice for the third straight day Friday, Oct. 23, and is doubtful to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 7.
Fantasy Tip: With Thompson likely out and Matt Jones also banged up, this could be a game in which we see a heavy dose of Alfred Morris ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) in a fine matchup. He's best used in a flex spot on FantasyScore, though.
Thu, 22 Oct 2015 13:29:44 -0700
Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson (back) did not practice for the second consecutive day Thursday, Oct. 22.
Fantasy Tip: This is the part of the week where it starts to get concerning if a player continues not to practice. Thompson ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is the Redskins' best receiving threat out of the backfield. Should Thompson be unable to take the field, Alfred Morris ($5,500, 11.0%) and Matt Jones ($2,600, 5.2%) would have more value, and Jones would likely play on more passing downs. Stay tuned to Thompson's status as the weekend approaches.
Wed, 21 Oct 2015 14:05:18 -0700
Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson (back) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 21.
Fantasy Tip: Thompson's ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) status will be known later in the week, so owners should keep an eye out on his practice participation. Thompson has been more involved in the passing game this season but is not the best option for fantasy owners because of his uncertain status.
Mon, 19 Oct 2015 12:33:38 -0700
Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson (back) is considered day-to-day because of the back injury he suffered in Week 6.
Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor Thompson's practice participation during the week to see if he has a chance to play in Week 7. Thompson will have his usual role if he plays this week but may not be the best option for fantasy owners.
Sun, 18 Oct 2015 10:38:26 -0700
Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson (back) suffered a back injury during the team's Week 6 game and is considered questionable to return.
Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye out on the situation because Thompson has been able to find a role on offense. Alfred Morris could have a bigger role if Thompson is not able to return.
Sat, 17 Oct 2015 12:55:35 -0700
Washington Redskins RBs Alfred Morris, Matt Jones, Chris Thompson and the Redskins' offense have only accounted for 266 rushing yards over the last three games.
Fantasy Tip: Chris Thompson has actually been the most valuable Washington running back in recent weeks because of his involvement in the passing game. Alfred Morris ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) and Matt Jones ($3,300, 6.6%) are not the most appealing starts this week against a stingy New York Jets' rush defense. Thompson ($3,200, 6.4%) makes for a good sleeper start, however.
Fri, 16 Oct 2015 11:19:39 -0700
Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson (shoulder) and LB Perry Riley (calf) practiced all week and are probable for the New York Jets in Week 6.
Thu, 15 Oct 2015 14:31:51 -0700
Washington Redskins WR Pierre Garcon (knee) and RB Chris Thompson (shoulder) both took part in a full practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 15.
Fantasy Tip: Garcon ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) could see even more targets if DeSean Jackson (hamstring) sits out again, but then he'd likely be covered by Darrelle Revis. Garcon is a risk/reward play on FantasyScore. Thompson ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) doesn't look attractive at all against a New York Jets defense allowing 16.0 PPR fantasy points to runners per game (second-fewest).
Wed, 14 Oct 2015 15:08:14 -0700
Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson (shoulder) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 14.
Fantasy Tip: Thompson ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) should continue to have a role in the running and passing game despite the injury. He has caught at least six passes in two of his last three games and is valuable in point-per-reception leagues. Thompson could be a solid option on FantasyScore even though he is facing a tough New York Jets defense.
Tue, 06 Oct 2015 08:35:57 -0700
Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson has improved on his blitz pickups.
Thu, 24 Sep 2015 21:35:08 -0700
Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson had two carries for 29 yards and eight catches for 57 yards and a touchdown in a 32-21 loss to the New York Giants in Week 3.
Fantasy Tip: Thompson ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) saw plenty of action after the Redskins fell behind early and threw the ball the ball 49 times. He did appear to be the primary pass-catching back, but that role alone won't make him a viable option at FantasyScore.

Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson may fall short of the final 53-man roster, according to John Keim of ESPN.com.
Sat, 20 Jun 2015 11:33:42 -0700

Wed, 25 Mar 2015 08:01:20 -0700
Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson is the front runner for the third-down back role, according to head coach Jay Gruden. The team could also draft a back for the role.
Fantasy Tip: The 5-foot-8 Thompson had just three carries for 12 yards in his rookie '14 campaign. He's worth keeping an eye on, but his fantasy potential is pretty limited to an RB5 flyer right now.

Thu, 03 Jul 2014 14:38:15 -0700
Washington Redskins RB Roy Helu will receive competition from RBs Chris Thompson and Lache Seastrunk for the role of third-down running back. Helu is criticized for rarely getting more than what defenses give him, and the coaching regime who selected him out of college are no longer with the organization. It is expected Helu will win the job because the other two are unproven in pass-protection situations at the NFL level.
Fantasy Tip: Helu is a RB5/6 with more value in PPR leagues, and obvious handcuff for Alfred Morris, if he wins the job. Seastrunk could be worth a late-round flier in deep leagues, if he proves he is a capable pass blocker during training camp. Thompson is undraftable at this point.
