Yankees | Bryan Mitchell to throw sim game

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 09:18:58 -0700

New York Yankees SP Bryan Mitchell (nose) will throw a simulated game early this week, and he could be stretched out as a starter to rejoin the starting rotation, especially after the injury to SP CC Sabathia (knee).

Fantasy Tip: Keep an eye on Mitchell ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) in AL-only leagues. He's one of the Yankees' top pitching prospects. If he does rejoin the rotation, you should look to avoid him in his first start back after taking a liner off the face.

Yankees | Bryan Mitchell placed on DL

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 09:34:28 -0700

New York Yankees SP Bryan Mitchell (nose) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, Aug. 18, with a concussion and nasal fracture. SP Chris Capuano was called up from the minors in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Mitchell's ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) injury was a scary one, but he's lucky it wasn't much worse. There's a chance he could return next month and make another spot start or two, but his fantasy value for the remainder of the season will be minimal. He's the Yankees' second-rated pitching prospect behind Luis Severino, though, so he's worth stashing in dynasty leagues.

Yankees | Bryan Mitchell expected to go on DL

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 09:00:07 -0700

New York Yankees SP Bryan Mitchell (nose) is expected to land on the disabled list after being hit by a line drive during his start Monday, Aug. 17, and suffering a small nasal fracture. Mitchell is considered the Yankees' second best pitching prospect behind SP Luis Severino, and he was making a spot start in order to give the rest of the rotation an extra day of rest.

Fantasy Tip: Mitchell ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) could re-enter the rotation down the road, but he's unlikely to make more than a handful of starts for the remainder of the season, so his fantasy value is limited in all formats.

Yankees | Bryan Mitchell has nasal fracture

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 19:41:03 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Yankees SP Bryan Mitchell (nose) suffered a small nasal fracture Monday, Aug. 17, after being struck in the face by a line drive. He has been released from the hospital. Team doctors will monitor him for any concussion symptoms.

Fantasy Tip: Mitchell ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is likely to miss a start or two, especially if the team determines he needs a stint on the 7-day concussion disabled list. Avoid him in FantasyScore until he can officially return and prove his health.

Yankees | No word on Bryan Mitchell

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 17:43:22 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Yankees SP Bryan Mitchell (face) was hit near the nose by a line drive in his start Monday, Aug. 17, against the Minnesota Twins. He was able to walk off under his own power with a towel over his face, but there are no further details.

Fantasy Tip: It was a scary scene in the Bronx, but at least he walked off and wasn't taken off on a stretcher. There was still a fair amount of blood, and it was an ugly situation. Mitchell ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) was making a start for CC Sabathia, so the Yankees are a little banged up at the moment in the pitching ranks.

Yankees | Bryan Mitchell leaves game

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 17:08:56 -0700

New York Yankees SP Bryan Mitchell (head) was hit in the face by a line drive Monday, Aug. 17, and he left the game.

Fantasy Tip: Mitchell ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) made an emergency start in place of CC Sabathia. Mitchell had two strikeouts and he allowed one run through 1 2/3 innings prior to his departure.

Yankees | Bryan Mitchell to start for Yankees

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 09:50:18 -0700

New York Yankees SP Bryan Mitchell will start Monday, Aug. 17, against the Minnesota Twins. CC Sabathia will be pushed back to Tuesday, Aug. 18, and Nathan Eovaldi will go on Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Mitchell isn't available in FantasyScore for tonight's start. He has shown an ability to get strikeouts, while his walks and hits allowed are a concern to monitor going forward. This is a spot start for Mitchell to give the rotation an extra day of rest. Eovaldi ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) owners lose a two-start week, including a friendly matchup against the Indians over the weekend.

Yankees | Yanks trying to upgrade pitching

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 07:24:24 -0700

New York Yankees SPs Adam Warren, Luis Severino and Bryan Mitchell are unlikely to be used to fill in in the starting rotation with SP Michael Pineda (forearm) sidelined. The Yankees continue to monitor the starting pitcher market as the trade deadline approaches.

Fantasy Tip: Severino, the club's top minor league pitching prospect, easily has the most upside of this trio and should already be stashed in dynasty and keeper leagues. If he does come up and enter the rotation for the Yanks, he'll surely be popular on the waiver wire in the rest of traditional leagues.

Yankees | CC Sabathia will start vs. Texas

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 11:16:37 -0700

Correcting a previous report, New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia is expected to start against the Texas Rangers Thursday, July 30. SP Bryan Mitchell was believed to be making the start, but Sabathia will be pushed ahead a day with Mitchell offering long-relief protection, if needed.

Fantasy Tip: Sabathia ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) has allowed four earned runs or more in four of his last seven starts with a 5.63 ERA and 30 strikeouts through 40 innings during the stretch. He should be viewed as a high-risk, high-reward No. 2 starting pitcher flier by FantasyScore players Thursday. He is a desperation start in year-long formats, too.

Yankees | Bryan Mitchell starting against Texas

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 10:53:33 -0700

New York Yankees SP Bryan Mitchell is being called up to make a spot start against the Texas Rangers Thursday, July 30, in place of SP Michael Pineda (forearm).

Fantasy Tip: Mitchell won't be available to use on FantasyScore. It's a good opportunity to stack Rangers hitters in your daily lineups tonight.
