Cardinals | Darren Fells signs tender

Mon, 01 Feb 2016 12:12:53 -0800

Arizona Cardinals TE Darren Fells signed his exclusive-rights tender Monday, Feb. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Fells was nothing to write home about last season, as Arizona's tight ends were usually overlooked in favor of their talented and deep wide receiver corps. Fells managed 311 yards and three scores, so he should hardly be a blip on the fantasy radar.

Cardinals | Darren Fells listed as probable

Fri, 13 Nov 2015 16:55:21 -0800

Arizona Cardinals TE Darren Fells (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 13, and is listed as probable for the Week 10 game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Fells ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) should be active for the game but has not been very involved in the passing game this season, so owners should be able to find better options to use.

Cardinals | Darren Fells takes part in practice

Thu, 12 Nov 2015 17:43:22 -0800

Arizona Cardinals TE Darren Fells (shoulder) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Fells ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has not been very involved in the passing game this season, so owners probably should look for other options to use.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald, Darren Fells practice

Wed, 11 Nov 2015 15:27:05 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (ankle) and TE Darren Fells (shoulder) both took part in full practices Wednesday, Nov. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) is having an excellent bounce-back season, but his price on FantasyScore will likely be too high for most owner's tastes in the matchup with the Seattle Seahawks on the road. Fells ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has no more than two catches since Week 2 of the season and should continue to be ignore in all leagues.

Cardinals | Troy Niklas seeing more time

Mon, 02 Nov 2015 16:46:42 -0800

Arizona Cardinals TE Troy Niklas, who had two catches for 12 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 8 win over the Cleveland Browns, has been seeing more playing time with TE Darren Fells (shoulder) injured. However, most of Niklas' time on the field has been used as a blocker.

Fantasy Tip: Niklas could become more of a red zone weapon if Fells misses more time, but it's unlikely that he'll be used as anything more than a blocker for most of the time as the season progresses. Ignore Niklas for now.

Cardinals | Darren Fells ruled out for Week 8

Fri, 30 Oct 2015 14:30:35 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE Darren Fells (shoulder) did not practice Friday, Oct. 30, and he has been ruled out of the Week 8 game against the Cleveland Browns Sunday, Nov. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Fells ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) hasn't been a major player in the offense, but his absence projects to free up more targets for Larry Fitzgerald ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) and the receive corps. Jermaine Gresham ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) and Troy Niklas ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) will also see a few additional snaps and are both potential dice rolls at FantasyScore to open up cap space.

Cardinals | John Brown, Darren Fells out Thursday

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 15:45:44 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (hamstring) and TE Darren Fells (shoulder) both missed practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 29.

Fantasy Tip: The Cardinals are leaning toward keeping both Brown ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) and Fells ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) out of Week 8 versus the Cleveland Browns. Avoid both, obviously. Michael Floyd ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) becomes a fantastic value pick on FantasyScore if Brown indeed sits, and Larry Fitzgerald ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) should be a safe selection, too.

Cardinals | Darren Fells sits out of practice

Wed, 28 Oct 2015 14:51:17 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE Darren Fells (shoulder) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 28.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear at this point if Fells will be able to return to the field for Week 8; if Fells doesn't return Jermaine Gresham will likely start again. Gresham posted four catches for 62 yards last week in Fells' absence, so he's not a bad starting option on FantasyScore at just $1,700 (3.4% of cap).

Cardinals | Saturday Cardinals injury report

Sat, 24 Oct 2015 14:14:16 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE Darren Fells (shoulder) and LB Alex Okafor (calf) didn't practice Saturday, Oct. 24, and are out for Week 7. CB Justin Bethel (foot) and WR Brittan Golden (groin) were limited Saturday and are probable. DT Cory Redding (shoulder), DT Frostee Rucker (foot) and LB LaMarr Woodley (chest) practiced in full and are probable against the Baltimore Ravens.

Cardinals | Darren Fells not on the field

Fri, 23 Oct 2015 15:49:10 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE Darren Fells (shoulder) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Fells ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) probably will not be able to play this week, so owners should avoid him. Jermaine Gresham ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) likely will be the starting tight end but is not a great option for owners.

Cardinals | Darren Fells not at practice

Thu, 22 Oct 2015 14:59:49 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE Darren Fells (shoulder) missed his second straight day of practice Thursday, Oct. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Fells ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) could be on his way to missing another game. If he is ruled out, Jermaine Gresham ($1,700, 3.4%) would be the primary tight end for the Cardinals this week. He may not produce much, but he would enable FantasyScore players to spend more at other positions.

Cardinals | Darren Fells out Wednesday

Wed, 21 Oct 2015 11:22:12 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE Darren Fells (shoulder) was out of practice Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Jermaine Gresham ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) probably isn't a great FantasyScore option against the Baltimore Ravens this week. However, Fells is expected to be out two or three weeks, and Gresham could be a streamer option in the coming weeks.

Cardinals | Darren Fells out 2-3 weeks

Mon, 19 Oct 2015 13:43:24 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE Darren Fells (shoulder) will be sidelined two to three weeks because of a shoulder sprain.

Fantasy Tip: Jermaine Gresham probably will see more playing time with Fells out of the lineup but is not a great option for fantasy owners.

Cardinals | Darren Fells injures left shoulder

Sun, 18 Oct 2015 11:43:17 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE Darren Fells (shoulder) suffered a left shoulder injury during Week 6's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Fells ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) had one catch for nine yards before exiting the game. He is not a great fantasy option because Arizona does not use their tight ends as pass catchers often.

Cardinals | John Brown, Darren Fells probable

Fri, 16 Oct 2015 14:12:19 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (hamstring) and TE Darren Fells (hip) were both limited in practice Friday, Oct. 16, but are listed as probable for Week 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) has had 70-plus yards in both of the last two weeks and scored his second touchdown last Sunday. He remains serviceable in PPR leagues like FantasyScore in a flex spot. Ignore Fells ($2,000, 4.0% of cap), as Arizona doesn't use their tight ends as pass catchers too often.

Cardinals | John Brown, Darren Fells limited in practice

Thu, 15 Oct 2015 15:19:27 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (hamstring) and TE Darren Fells (hip) were both limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Both Brown ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) and Fells ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) have been mediocre but have salvaged two touchdowns each on the year. Brown remains worth considering as a sleeper pick with upside in a flex position on FantasyScore in a high-flying Arizona offense, but Fells isn't attractive at all.

Cardinals | Darren Fells limited

Wed, 14 Oct 2015 13:07:13 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE Darren Fells (hip) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Fells ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) likely has a good chance to play in the Week 6 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but owners should keep an eye out on the situation. He has been pretty quiet after a good start to the season but could be a cheaper option on FantasyScore, because the Steelers allow the most fantasy points to tight ends.

Cardinals | Friday injury report for Week 5

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 14:35:29 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE Darren Fells (hip) and WR JJ Nelson (shoulder) are questionable for Week 5 against the Detroit Lions. CB Justin Bethel (foot), S Chris D. Clemons (hamstring), LB Alani Fua (hamstring), S Rashad Johnson (hip), DT Frostee Rucker (thigh) and LB LaMarr Woodley (thigh) are probable. Bethel, Fells and Nelson were limited in practice Friday, Oct. 9, while the others practiced in full.

Cardinals | Darren Fells has just one grab

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 22:49:12 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE Darren Fells was targeted twice in the Week 3 game against the San Francisco 49ers, and he finished with one catch for 13 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Fells ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) opened with a huge game in Week 1, but he has done very little since. Avoid him in FantasyScore until he gets untracked.

Cardinals | Darren Fells not targeted once

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 16:48:06 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE Darren Fells was active in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears, but he was not targeted once.

Fantasy Tip: With Fells ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) opened with a strong stat line in Week 1, but FantasyScore players that took a chance on him in Week 2 were sorely disappointed.

Cardinals | Darren Fells on the field often

Mon, 14 Sep 2015 07:17:42 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE Darren Fells played 52 plays for 84% of the offense Sunday, Sept. 13, in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Fells ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) had four catches for 82 yards and a score in Week 1. He'll be a FantasyScore flyer worth consideration against the Chicago Bears in Week 2.

Cardinals | Darren Fells the top tight end for AZ

Tue, 08 Sep 2015 16:55:32 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE Darren Fells is listed as the starting tight end on the Cardinals' depth chart. TE Troy Niklas is listed as his backup.

Fantasy Tip: Fells impressed head coach Bruce Arians this offseason. Niklas and Jermaine Gresham have been dealing with injuries, so the starting job was Fells' for the taking. It would be best to wait a week or two to see how Fells is used before considering him for your FantasyScore lineups.

Cardinals | Coach impressed with Darren Fells

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 14:04:17 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE Darren Fells has performed well during training camp, and it will be very hard for the other tight ends to overtake him for the starting job, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: Fells saw limited playing time last season and finished the year with five receptions and 71 yards. It is not known how much he will be used in the passing this season, so owners should consider him a low-end No. 2 tight end in deeper leagues or an option on the waiver wire.

Cardinals | John Carlson tops TE depth chart

Wed, 06 Aug 2014 17:06:13 -0700

Arizona Cardinals TE John Carlson tops the team's first depth chart of the preseason, with TEs Rob Housler and Troy Niklas listed as the top backups. TEs Darren Fells and Andre Hardy are listed on the third-team offense.

Fantasy Tip: Even as the starter, the tight end isn't a huge cog in the Arizona offense. If Carlson hangs onto the starting job, he would still only be worth a look as a backup fantasy option or a potential starter when you need a bye-week replacement.
