Marlins | Two Fish sit out

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 07:29:33 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto and 1B Justin Bour are out of the lineup Wednesday, June 29, with 1B Chris Johnson hitting sixth and C Jeff Mathis hitting ninth. OF Ichiro Suzuki is in at DH and leading off.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson is hitting just .228 against lefties this season in what has been an ineffective year thus far. He has hit lefties well in the past, but he may be past it to use against lefty Daniel Norris. Suzuki is hitting .308 in 26 at-bats against lefties, and he's a really low-end option today. Mathis isn't worth consideration.

Marlins | Jeff Mathis catching Sunday

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 08:13:36 -0700

Miami Marlins C Jeff Mathis is batting eighth against Chicago Cubs SP Jason Hammel Sunday, June 26. C J.T. Realmuto is getting the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Mathis is not a great fantasy option regardless of the opposing pitcher, as his .179 average this season and .194 career mark will attest.

Marlins | Two Fish out Wednesday

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 07:12:56 -0700

Miami Marlins 3B Martin Prado and C J.T. Realmuto are out of the lineup Wednesday, June 22, with SS Adeiny Hechavarria hitting second and C Jeff Mathis hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Hechavarria is hitting .242 this month in what has been a "meh" season for him. He has a good matchup against John Gant, and he's a low-end option today, though. Mathis doesn't have a potent enough bat for much consideration in DFS.

Marlins | Three MIA regulars sitting out Sunday

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 07:43:55 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour, C J.T. Realmuto and SS Adeiny Hechavarria are not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Anderson Sunday, June 19. INF Chris Johnson will play first base and bat sixth, C Jeff Mathis will start behind the plate and bat seventh and INF Miguel Rojas will play shortstop and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson is batting .269 this month and is 3-for-10 over the past week but should only be viewed as a desperation source of cap relief in DFS. Mathis and Rojas have both struggled at the plate recently and are not worthy of lineup consideration in any fantasy format.

Marlins | Big game for J.T. Realmuto

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 18:58:21 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto went 4-for-5 with a double, a home run, three RBI and a run scored in a 9-6 win over the Colorado Rockies Saturday, June 18.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto's power numbers have been modest, but his .305 average should have him starting in most mixed formats.

Marlins | Miami sitting three players

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 14:57:13 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour, C J.T. Realmuto and 2B Derek Dietrich are not in the starting lineup against San Diego Padres SP Drew Pomeranz Tuesday, June 14. 1B Chris Johnson will start at first base and is batting sixth. C Jeff Mathis will start at catcher and is batting seventh, while SS Miguel Rojas will start at second base and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: All three players have received limited playing time this season, but Rojas has posted decent numbers this season. He should be considered a deep sleeper in daily fantasy leagues, but owners can avoid Johnson and Mathis since there will be better players available.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto leading off

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 11:13:27 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is batting first in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Robbie Ray Sunday, June 12.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto is hitting .350 with one home run and two RBI over the last seven days. He has been productive at the plate this season and should be a starting option in most fantasy leagues.

Marlins | Three Miami regulars resting

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 15:36:14 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour, 2B Derek Dietrich and C J.T. Realmuto are all out of the starting lineup Friday, June 10. 1B Chris Johnson is starting at first base and hitting sixth, SS Miguel Rojas is at second and batting seventh and C Jeff Mathis is catching and hitting eighth against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin.

Fantasy Tip: Bour and Dietrich are likely out against the lefty. Johnson carries the most daily value as a deep sleeper because of his success against lefties in the past, but his contact-oriented approach with limited power keeps his ceiling low. Rojas and Mathis are desperation DFS flyers if you're looking to save salary cap space at their respective positions.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto sitting out Friday

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 11:52:59 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 3. C Jeff Mathis is doing the catching and is batting eighth against New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard.

Fantasy Tip: Mathis is a desperation flyer in daily games against one of baseball's most dominating young pitchers. Avoid him.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto leading off vs. Pirates

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 14:09:58 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is leading off against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jon Niese Wednesday, June 1.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto receives a slight fantasy boost hitting in front of the four best hitters on the team, but there isn't a lot of growth potential, as he has already been pretty solid. He is a rare five-category contributor among backstops, which makes Realmuto a low-end starter in the majority of seasonal leagues. To this point, Realmuto has 17 runs, two home runs, 13 RBI, two stolen bases and a .300/.322/.400 slash line.
