Marlins | Three Miami starters sitting out

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 12:45:06 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto, OF Marcell Ozuna and 2B Derek Dietrich are not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Jerad Eickhoff Tuesday, July 26. OF Ichiro Suzuki will start in center field and is batting first. C Jeff Mathis will start at catcher and is batting seventh, while 2B Miguel Rojas will start at second base and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki has only two hits in his last eight games but is still hitting .335 this season, which makes him a decent option in daily fantasy leagues. Rojas and Mathis should not be starting options outside NL-only leagues.

Marlins | Miguel Rojas leading off vs. Mets

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 08:24:21 -0700

Miami Marlins SS Miguel Rojas is starting at first base and leading off against New York Mets SP Steven Matz Sunday, July 24. 1B Chris Johnson is not in the starting lineup Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Miami has been plugging in a number of bodies at first base with Justin Bour (ankle) on the disabled list, but Johnson has been the most frequent. Over the past three seasons, Johnson owns a .256/.289/.351 slash line, which doesn't move the fantasy needle outside of cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues. Similarly, Rojas owns a career .596 OPS and doesn't warrant attention in any fantasy format, including daily contests Sunday.

Marlins | Martin Prado sitting vs. Mets

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 12:31:50 -0700

Miami Marlins 3B Martin Prado is not in the starting lineup Friday, July 22. SS Miguel Rojas is starting at third base and batting second against New York Mets SP Logan Verrett Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Prado is a sneaky fantasy contributor who has excellent contact skills. He currently has 41 runs, 32 RBI and a .314/.364/.409 slash line. However, with just three bombs and a swipe, his fantasy ownership should be limited to deep mixed and NL-only setups. Rojas owns a career .586 OPS and has no fantasy upside.

Marlins | Adeiny Hechavarria sitting vs. Phillies

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 12:47:05 -0700

Miami Marlins SS Adeiny Hechavarria is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 20. SS Miguel Rojas is starting at shortstop and batting eighth against Philadelphia Phillies SP Jeremy Hellickson Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Hechavarria is a fringe starting option in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues because of his consistent playing time, but his 33 runs, three home runs, 27 RBI and .244/.282/.343 slash line don't suffice in the majority of fantasy formats. Rojas owns a career .584 OPS and isn't a viable fantasy option.

Marlins | Derek Dietrich resting Sunday

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 07:23:02 -0700

Miami Marlins INF/OF Derek Dietrich is not in the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds SP Cody Reed Sunday, July 10. INF Miguel Rojas will bat seventh and play second base.

Fantasy Tip: Rojas is batting .248 with nine RBI through 105 at-bats this season and should be viewed strictly as a desperation source of cap relief in daily fantasy contests.

Marlins | Derek Dietrich, J.T. Realmuto out

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 13:48:07 -0700

Miami Marlins 2B Derek Dietrich and C J.T. Realmuto are not in the starting lineup Tuesday, July 5. 2B Miguel Rojas is at second base and is batting seventh, while C Jeff Mathis is behind the plate and hitting eighth against New York Mets SP Steven Matz. Also, SS Adeiny Hechavarria moves up to the leadoff spot.

Fantasy Tip: Rojas and Mathis are both very light hitters and are desperation picks as deep sleepers in DFS. Hechavarria is hot lately with 10 hits in his last 26 at-bats (.385) with three RBI since June 28. He sees a boost in his daily value while hitting leadoff, but he's unlikely to fill the stat sheet as a midrange shortstop option.

Marlins | Giancarlo Stanton resting Saturday

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 10:30:25 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton and SS Adeiny Hechavarria are not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Lucas Harrell Saturday, July 2. OF Ichiro Suzuki will bat leadoff and play right field, while INF Miguel Rojas will bat eighth and play shortstop.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki is batting .342 through 155 at-bats this season and makes a productive source of salary cap relief for DFS, whereas Rojas should be viewed strictly as an inexpensive flier.

Marlins | Three MIA regulars sitting out Sunday

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 07:43:55 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour, C J.T. Realmuto and SS Adeiny Hechavarria are not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Anderson Sunday, June 19. INF Chris Johnson will play first base and bat sixth, C Jeff Mathis will start behind the plate and bat seventh and INF Miguel Rojas will play shortstop and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson is batting .269 this month and is 3-for-10 over the past week but should only be viewed as a desperation source of cap relief in DFS. Mathis and Rojas have both struggled at the plate recently and are not worthy of lineup consideration in any fantasy format.

Marlins | Derek Dietrich out again

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 10:05:33 -0700

Miami Marlins 2B Derek Dietrich is out of the lineup Wednesday, June 15, with 2B Miguel Rojas hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Rojas is hitting .247 with eight RBI this year, and he's not a good DFS option against Luis Perdomo.

Marlins | Miami sitting three players

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 14:57:13 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour, C J.T. Realmuto and 2B Derek Dietrich are not in the starting lineup against San Diego Padres SP Drew Pomeranz Tuesday, June 14. 1B Chris Johnson will start at first base and is batting sixth. C Jeff Mathis will start at catcher and is batting seventh, while SS Miguel Rojas will start at second base and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: All three players have received limited playing time this season, but Rojas has posted decent numbers this season. He should be considered a deep sleeper in daily fantasy leagues, but owners can avoid Johnson and Mathis since there will be better players available.
