Marlins | Shoulder injury for Miguel Rojas

Tue, 31 May 2016 04:21:59 -0700

Miami Marlins SS Miguel Rojas (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury during an at-bat in a loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates Monday, May 30, and manager Don Mattingly said he believes the injury is minor.

Fantasy Tip: Rojas' value is extremely limited anyway, and if you happened to be using him in an NL-only league, this injury could be a good time to search for a better option.

Marlins | Miguel Rojas forced to leave

Mon, 30 May 2016 18:55:02 -0700

Miami Marlins SS Miguel Rojas (groin) left the game Monday, May 30, against the Pittsburgh Pirates due to an apparent injury. His right groin has bothered him for a few days.

Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain if Rojas aggravated his groin, or suffered a new injury. What is certain is that he is only worth using in the deepest of NL-only seasonal fantasy formats and as a salary saver in DFS play.

Marlins | Derek Dietrich out vs. Pirates

Mon, 30 May 2016 13:53:00 -0700

Miami Marlins 2B Derek Dietrich (head) passed concussion tests but is not in the starting lineup Monday, May 30. 2B Miguel Rojas is starting at second base and batting eighth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jeff Locke Monday.

Fantasy Tip: With Dee Gordon out of the way, Dietrich has become a viable fantasy option at the keystone and has a .344/.430/.500 slash line with 14 RBI in May. It appears Dietrich has avoided a serious injury, too, so expect him back in the lineup soon. Rojas is a desperation start in all fantasy formats Monday.

Marlins | Miami resting two players

Sun, 29 May 2016 12:40:11 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto and SS Adeiny Hechavarria are not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran Sunday, May 29. SS Miguel Rojas will start at shortstop and is batting seventh, while C Jeff Mathis will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Rojas is hitting .310 this month but has only four hits in his last nine games. He could be a starting option in some daily fantasy leagues, but owners probably will be able to find better options. Mathis is hitting only .135 so far this season and should be avoided in all leagues.

Marlins | Justin Bour, Derek Dietrich out vs. lefty

Mon, 23 May 2016 12:26:27 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour and 2B Derek Dietrich are not in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays left-handed SP Matt Moore Monday, May 23. 1B Chris Johnson is at first base and is hitting sixth, while SS Miguel Rojas starts at the keystone and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson is batting .382 (21-for-55) and has been successful against lefties, but he's also not much of a threat to leave the yard. Regardless, he could be considered a deep sleeper tonight. Rojas is a light-hitting middle infielder that makes for a desperation play.

Marlins | Two Marlins out Wednesday

Wed, 18 May 2016 07:41:31 -0700

Miami Marlins 3B Martin Prado and SS Adeiny Hechavarria are out of the lineup Wednesday, May 18. C J.T. Realmuto is hitting second, 3B Chris Johnson is hitting seventh and SS Miguel Rojas hits eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto is hitting .358 this month, and he's a daily upper-middle option against Jeremy Hellickson. Johnson and Rojas lack the DFS punch for usage today.

Marlins | Adeiny Hechavarria out Saturday

Sat, 14 May 2016 14:22:50 -0700

Miami Marlins SS Adeiny Hechavarria is out of the lineup Saturday, May 14, with SS Miguel Rojas hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Rojas is hitting .278, but he doesn't possess enough offensive upside to start against Tanner Roark.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto leading off vs. Nats

Fri, 13 May 2016 13:30:55 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is leading off against Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez Friday, May 13. 2B Derek Dietrich is not in the starting lineup, and SS Miguel Rojas is starting at second base and batting eighth Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto is off to a solid start with a .302 batting average, 12 runs and 11 RBI for the season. Hitting atop the lineup is a nice boost for his fantasy value Friday, and he is a viable option in daily contests. Dietrich will likely continue to hit leadoff when facing a right-handed pitcher, and he is a potential add in deep mixed leagues. Rojas is a fantasy afterthought.

Marlins | Adeiny Hechavarria resting

Fri, 06 May 2016 11:48:45 -0700

Miami Marlins SS Adeiny Hechavarria is not in the starting lineup Friday, May 6. SS Miguel Rojas is at the 6 and is batting eighth against Philadelphia Phillies SP Vincent Velasquez.

Fantasy Tip: Rojas has eight hits in 26 at-bats (.308) this year but has a career average of just .237 in 165 major league games. He's a desperation daily selection Friday night.

Marlins | Derek Dietrich hitting fifth

Wed, 04 May 2016 11:29:26 -0700

Miami Marlins 2B Derek Dietrich is hitting fifth and playing first base Wednesday, May 4, in place of 1B Justin Bour (finger). 2B Miguel Rojas is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Dietrich will shift to first against righties, such as today against Rubby De La Rosa, and Chris Johnson will face lefties while Bour is out. Dietrich has a .325-2-10 line and is an easy lower-middle flyer today. Rojas is hitting .333 in 24 at-bats, and he might be worth a bottom-of-the-barrel flyer today.
